New Channels, Additional Lineup Change Coming to PlayStation Vue

We have some new updates about PlayStation Vue to share with you today. First, we’re happy to announce the addition of new channels to PlayStation Vue, including BBC America and NBA TV launching tomorrow, as well as VICE and more local broadcast stations from CBS and Fox coming soon.

Additionally, starting at 12:01am Eastern Time on November 11, all Viacom-owned networks will no longer be available on PlayStation Vue. This includes channels such as Comedy Central, Spike, and MTV. At PlayStation, we always strive to provide the best value and service for our fans. As part of our ongoing evaluation of the PlayStation Vue offering, we have determined that removing the bundle of channels from Viacom is the best way for us to continue to offer the most compelling value to our fans.

It’s been quite a busy year for us since launching ESPN, ABC and other Disney-owned networks; we have expanded the service nationwide, added highly requested channels such as NFL Network and HBO, and introduced new PS Vue enabled devices such as Roku, Android TV and web support for PC and Mac. As demonstrated by the new channels announced today, we will continue to expand the PlayStation Vue service by adding devices and networks that are highly requested by our fans.

PlayStation Vue subscribers will continue to enjoy the popular features that make the service unique, such as simultaneous streaming and cloud-based DVR. We are continuing to add value and flexibility with multiple plan options to choose from, as well as a la carte options such as recent additions of HBO and Cinemax.

Remember that there is no long-term commitment required for any PlayStation Vue plan. You can visit www.psvue.com for more information.

We want to thank all of you for your continued support, and we look forward to all that’s ahead.

  • What about TV Land, CMT and our grandkids that love Nickelodeon. Really? Should have known after 30 years of paying for outrageous cable and finally finding something more affordable that it wouldn’t last for long. Three months and now we’re searching again. Very disappointing.

  • I was willing to put up with Vue’s sluggish response time on Amazon Fire and Roku, because it was still a good value.

I was willing to put up with no guide on the Roku, because it was still a good value.

But Vue is no longer a good value. They cut out several channels, but offered no refund for a portion of my payment, nor offered a reduced price to remain a subscriber.

That is unacceptable. If you went out to eat at Olive Garden and the waitress informed you they were out of breadsticks and salad, would you still want to pay the same price on the menu?

I already canceled my subscription. I’ll either sign up for SlingTV or wait for the DirecTV Now or Hulu streaming service.

  • Although it’s a bummer that they took away NickJr and Nickelodeon…my kids love them. I’ll admit I even put on the CMT Country countdown on weekend mornings while cooking breakfast.

I’ll ultimately live with this decision…I can appreciate Sony trying to save us money. Viacom President says they’re still in discussion about a negotiation…..which is what Sony should have said from the beginning. The positive side is that Sony is unique from a standard television company that Viacom would negotiate with. Sony is also a content provider….They have Sony Music and Sony Motion Pictures they can hang over Viacom’s head. With Viacom having music channels….wouldn’t it be something if Sony said you can no longer play our artists on your channels?

I think ultimately a deal will get done, and everything will be okay.

  • Wow. Just paid my subscription and less than 12 hours later they drop a bunch of channels. This agreement that there are no refunds seems like a racket when the content changes like this. Guess I’ll switch back to Sling. Maybe Direct Tv Now will be a future choice. Too bad.

  • Yeah, charge me on tuesday and take my channels away on thursday. Hulu is adding live streaming, so… good job losing a loyal sony customer.

  • Hey PlayStation Vue,
Not happy with losing 25% of my channels and still paying 100%. On top of that service is out on all Amazon devices and can’t watch anything. Seriously reconsidering the Vue after 6 months.

  • I think a price reduction would be a fair trade for the lost channels.

    THANK YOU!

  • This is truly unfortunate! We watched Nick jr more than anything else. The channels that were added in my opinion are not even close to an even trade.

  • So since my lineup just dropped from 70-ish to 50-ish channels, is the price going to drop????

  • We want Nickelodeon back!

  • Bad choice Sony..I will also be cancelling. I was so happy with the service up until now. You have eliminated way too many channels that made it worth it to me.

  • This is totally bs how the hell you removed some of the most watched channels and add less channels thats not as good as the one you removed and u guys still charging the same prices hell no at this rate I no longer have a use for for ps vue the **** always has streaming issues anyway but this just puts it over the top I am so done with Yall unless this is fixed real soon

  • It is disappointing that we are losing so many channels and I did watch some of them but I can understand Sony’s point of view on keeping the prices low. It would be nice if they had those channels on a more expensive package. I would also really like to see the History channel added to Vue. The new channels they are adding we don’t watch so this change was really a lose, lose situation for our family.

  • Very disappointed to lose the Nic channels. Having Disney and Nic was the big reason I choose PlayStation Vue. If they can’t get them back I will be forced to look elsewhere. I have 3 kids.

  • OK so you had better lower the price then. Cut out quality content and expect people to pay the same? Nope!!! Lower the price or lose my business now, its that simple. I’m waiting for a response.

  • Will definitely be cancelling now. Just about the only reason we got it was for nickelodeon for our kids. Why the change?

  • Im beyond un happy over this. 97 percent of my viewing was Nick, MTV, and comedy central. Downgrading immediatly and looking for my replacement of vue.

  • I have only had a month! I was so happy with my new experience with streaming tv. Almost every channel that is being dropped was either mine or husbands favorite. So disappointed, vue was so much better than sling tv

  • I believe that Sony handled this situation correctly by standing up to Viacom and their outrageous pricing model. Unfortunately, Sony’s crafting of its press release and customer communication leaves quite a bit to be desired. Understandably, a number of customers will drop PS Vue because they are upset with Sony. They may be hard to get back. If Sony only said that they are hopeful to reach an amicable agreement with Viacom and be able to bring their channels back to Vue soon, much of this rage would have been mitigated.

  • So let me get this straight…….They take away 7 channels that my family watch, replace them with garbage and dont offer a lower price on same package?!?!?!?! Example,,,,,,,,,If you hire a cleaning company to clean your house and then they say they arent cleaning your bathrooms, you gonna pay same price??????? Subscription cancelled!!!!! Sling sucks too, so its back to the cord. This has become a joke!!!!

  • Really PlayStation I’m not a happy customer. Removing NICK JR and MTV We always watch these channels as well as my three kids. I’ve only been on vue a few months and this is a deal breaker. Bring back our channels please Also PlayStation needs a better way of communicating rather than just take away channels were all paying for and want. Anger is not the word for how I feel about this

  • I was just sitting down to watch the Bellator fight on spike and couldn’t find it in my DVR lineup and then noticed the channel was gone. So you snuck a channel out that I subscribed to your service for and didn’t ever try to contact me and tell me that the lineup was changing. Not to mention I was billed 2 days ago and it’s non refundable. Sneaky bastards. I’m definitely canceling and finding another service, this kind of stunt is a no go for me.

  • Irritated as hell, went and checked and I can get a better package with sling.com that includes spike as well for the same amount I was paying here. If my $ wasn’t already locked up with VUE for the month, I would go ahead and setup service with sling right now, thanks Sony. You lost another customer here.

  • Please bring back Viacom. I watch CC all the time, and my twins love Nick Jr. We are willing to pay a little more, if it means bringing Viacom back.

  • Thank you, Sony, for standing up to companies like Viacom who make a fortune off advertising but keep forcing providers to pay them more and more money knowing they’ll pay and pass the price hikes along to the customers they’re already advertising to. I’d rather lose a few channels than play along with their game. They’ll come crawling back eventually.

  • i just bought my first month’s service a few days ago for u to take the only 2-3 channels i actually watch? definitely goin back to cable!

    • I don’t know why Sony does stuff like this. It’s embarassing. Hopefully MS will come out with something better. I will be moving to sling or back to Charter I guess.

  • This sucks. Nick Jr was the most used in my house cuz the kids. I was extremely happy with Vue but now I’m forced to find another service dang it. also wish we had a little bit warning

  • Sony should take a step back and look at what this service qas supoosed to be about. While on one hand they didnt bow down to Viacom (as one poster noted), on the other hand this reason is one of the handful that people have cut the cord from major canle carriers. Hopefully Sony realizes that people do have options now when it come to cord cutting services. Havibg kids in ny house, the viacom channels were essential to picking PSVue. And now there are a couple more options that exist that werent around in May when i started PSVue. With that being said, competition is there. And hopefully all of these cable cutting options dont lose track of why they exist in the first place. See you later Sony, effective November 27th.

I would be okay with a minimal charge option to access these channels still, worst case scenario. And now there are a couple more options that exist that werent around in May when i started PSVue. • Wow, how disappointing. ESPN and Nick /Nick jr. were must haves for me, and why I chose Vue over sling. I am going to have to cancel my subscription and move on. That’s terrible, I’m really disappointed. I sent a lot of customers to Vue, nick was really important. And how do you drop all the channels and not adjust the price down?

  • I understand trying to keep costs down but couldn’t the Viacom channels be an add on option and give the consumer the choice whether to pay for them or not?

  • Only channels I’m upset about are the Nickelodeon channels. SpongeBob and the loud house are family favorites in our house. I can access SpongeBob via Amazon so it’s not a huge deal. I’m still happier with PS vue than I was with DirecTV, but I feel that there should be some reimbursement or price reduction for this month and months going forward. Also, is Showtime is a Viacom company? Is that going to be lost too? If so I definitely feel like a refund is in order. As of now, I’m staying with vue but if there is another channel cut without a price drop I’ll bail. I’d like to see MSG and SNY networks added for NY area customers, as well as the History Channel. I’d pay up to 10 bucks more to make that happen

  • No nickelodeon channels that sucks big time. Someone said it we should not be paying 44.99 for the elite if we just lost like 10 channels. 39.99.. typical networks see that the service is being used by alot of ppl and decide to manipulate and take advantage.

  • Yeah got rid of best channels! Gave us NBA? That is the DUMBEST ass SPORT EVER! Raise the basket a couple feet and might be exciting to see 7′ people get it in. WTH is on VICE?? British TV sucks! if I lived in BRITAIN then I guess that would be ok! So added 3 channels that are pretty much as fun to watch as SYNCRONIZED SWIMMING and dropped 10! Plus I still have ZERO local channels! Going to be going to something else I guess!

  • If playstation cannot get the nickelodeon channels back for my kids i will drop this as my provider and save my money only reason i got this was for my kids please fix this

  • Too bad there is no channels anymore for kids I really was enjoying vue but if there is nothing for the small ones to watch we just have to go.. they have now only 2 channels with kid content , and no CC?? That’s a bummer

  • UGH! Losing BET hurts! Really Hurts! HOWEVER, I have Netflix and Amazon so I will be able to see those shows that I will be missing on those platforms. Now, if the OWN networks leaves the VUE, then I and many others that I have pursued to get Playstation Vue will be gonners! I like the DVR capability cause I’m generally busy when the shows are aired and am able to watch later. The $34.95 I pay still has great value. With the DSL, I’m still paying less than $100 per month and I have more channels to select from than when I was paying $205 per month with Cable.

Having an internet TV allows me to watch YOUTUBE. So much content on YOUTUBE!

    I’m staying for now.

  • Also, someone who doesn’t know how to configure their TV complained on this board abt not being able to get local TV stations – THAT’S WHY YOU GET AN “ANTENNA”!

  • What in the hell am I suppose to watch? You guys expect us to watch sports all day? This is bs I’m canceling this ****…

  • THat was a load of channels to cut. They need to chop about $10 off the top of all billing. It wasn’t the percentage of channels lost, it was the amount of time they were viewed, Anyone with children are now looking at other companies to provide these channel packages.

Goodbye Vue, Hello AT&T Direct TV NOW

  • Please add MLB Network. My son loves baseball and it he would go nuts if it was added!

  • Def not going to work. I will be canceling for direct when it drops and if that don’t work then I guess back to cable. Btw, the trade off is ****. Not even close to comparable with what you added in it’s place.

  • No nickelodeon for the kids anymore? Looks like I’ll be switching services. That’s too bad I really liked the PSvue.

  • This is very disappointing for my girls who love the content on Nick Jr. I’m concerned that they will continue to remove more than they add. God help me if the get rid of AMC or History.

  • Cancelled mine today. Price should drop or offer more to replace. Even if so I’d still be gone. PS had a good thing. Hopefully direct will follow format with better content.

  • Everyone unhappy should cancel right now. It’ll still run through current paid period. Give them some numbers to look at.

  • Would gladly pay an extra 3 bucks a month extra for nick channels. My daughter watched Bubble Guppies 5 hours out of the day. Only had the service for 2 months, and already super disappointed

  • There are people who actually have concerns and valuable input but the majority is pointing the finger just like with everything else in this world without doing an ounce of research. Viacom pulled the channels and Sony has no control over that also they are actively in negation to secure the channels and make it work.

    1. Sony does need to send an email out to all subscribers or utilize the section in notification for important PlayStation announcements to reach the mass consumer bass they have quickly.

    2. Offer a refund minus time used with the channels

    3. Remove the advertise channels no longer apart of the service and or post a red banner explaining the removal of channels to users who visit the website.

    4. If an agreement isn’t reached lower the price of the service

FYI:The company who owns the rights wanted more money and that means higher prices for us so Sony said no and are trying to work it out but for users to state that the service should dropped down to $8 is absurd and shows how entitled we have become.
