Our team is thrilled to present your free PS Plus games for May on PS4! Satisfy your desire to be the dictator you always wanted to be, or challenge your friends to relentless combat races in next month’s lineup.

First up is the island dictator sim Tropico 5, featuring the long-running virtual dictator, El Presidente! Tropico 5 is a full-fledged city-building game based on the fictional island nation of Tropico. Inside this not-so-subtle parody, El Presidente guides and directs the everyday life of his beloved Tropicans using a firm grip and ridiculous edicts, all presented with a heavy dose of tongue-in-cheek humor.

And Table Top Racing: World Tour on PS4 is a high-octane combat racer from Nick Burcombe, the co-creator of PlayStation all-time classic Wipeout. Table Top Racing: World Tour is a total reinvention of the Table Top Racing universe, bringing micro combat-racing to a truly next-gen audience for the first time.

    Surprise, surprise, Sony has delivered us another awful game lineup for this month. We pay money for this, and you just give us complete trash every month. The only free games I’ve actually got enjoyment from playing are Dishonored and The Walking Dead Season 2. Seriously Sony, you need to give us PS+ users some better games. Even Microsoft manages to deliver decent free games to their users.

      I feel like everyone who complains only does so because they don’t know any of the games they are getting for free, even if they could be the best games out there. Do your friggen research people and stop just focus whoring on the mainstream AAA games.

    The lineup this month actually seems pretty solid to me. Tropico 5 looks like a Civilization game which is a godsend. Those type of games have been extremely lacking on console so I can appreciate it quite a bit!

    The racing title looks like it might be fun as well. If im not mistaken it’s from the same dev which gave us the Rocket League soccer game? Based off that fact alone I’m definitely going to give that one a look as well. Overall May is looking better than usual imo. Hope to see even more games like Tropico come down the path to Ps4 finally.

      You are mistaken. Rocket League was developed by Psyonix, whereas TTR: World Tour was developed by Playrise. :)

    Remember when you guys actually cared about your customers and would release big games for PS3 when Plus first came out? Now people get excited every month thinking this might finally be the month a big AAA or AA game is released. Instead we get low budget indie games that arent even highly rated or popular, and a PC city builder game nobody wants to play on ps4……nicely done. How can xbox be doing such a better job with its customers than you guys?

      Yeah, I have an Xbox as well and the free games they pick are so much better. I’m still more of a Sony fan but it is what it is. Just being honest. PS+was crap in the very beginning too. It didn’t really start getting good until 2012. Now it’s back to crap again for the most part.

    I haven’t been real big on the PS Plus games lately (since last summer), but if you’re a yearly member, you eventually snag some titles that make it worth it – not to mention the online access you gain, along with the discounts you get in the PS Store, which have probably paid for the PS Plus membership by itself for me.

    As far as the free games that are worth the time, my opinion is they’re almost all PS3 titles, but I still own and use a PS3, so this is fine by me. My advice, upgrade your HDD to 500 GB and stockpile all games that catch your eye. I still have Yakuza 4, Dishonored, and several others – including God of War: Ascension – which are pretty solid titles that interest me further than simply being free through PlayStation Plus.

    If PS Plus members signed-up after August of 2015, I can understand the disappointment of the free games line-up since that time period. I was lucky to sign-up for the free trial in March or April of 2015, and then signed-up for a year after that, which set me up for at least 6-7 solid free games up until August when the good games hit a slump. Another solid game I’ve yet to play is Rocket League – a PS4 title – and the reviews for this game among industry critics and personal friends have been A+.

    Hang in there! The games come eventually…BUT…they’re almost always PS3 titles as far as “Triple A” goes.

    Wasn’t Switch Galaxy Ultra already made free before? If so, that makes it the second game I’ve seen made free for PS Plus twice.

    I’m sorry but this is not a great line up to me nor has it it been for months now. My problem mostly is that, with very little exception, these are games that I have no interest in playing. I don’t even mind the Indies but I just feel left out. I’m not going to threaten to drop my account because of it, but I do hope you expand the style of games that have been put on here because it is starting to feel very repetitive and I haven’t played hardly any of them since sometime mid last year.

    OK got to play Tropico finally. Well worth the wait. The tutorial was not overly useful nor user-friendly to be honest. I found it still has a few bugs too. Basically I goofed around on sandbox mode to get used to everything. That is where arguably a lot of the games magic is found … just messing around!

    It took some getting used to but after awhile it was fairly easy to get familiar with the controls. Once that was out of the way I really enjoyed Tropico even more than I thought I would. The game play was fun and loved its humor. Managing everything was pretty smooth and the choices were amazing. You can basically advance as fast or as slow as you want.

    Overall this is kind of game I truly find refreshing on console and really wish we’d see more like it come down the line in the future. By the time I looked I’d been jamming on this for a few hours or so. After seeing how fun this is , I’m planning on grabbing up all the dlc for it as well. I think the trick to Tropico is playing it hands on and trying to not prejudge it or you risk missing out on a real gem. It really takes me back to old school RTS/Sim games that are too few these days!

    Do any of you crybabies even try some of these games? I’ve been downloading everything and giving it a fair shot before judging. Galak-z and Broforce turned out to be so fun I am beating both of them. Tabletop racing is a car combat game, also a-lot of fun. And Tropico 5 is a full priced AAA game when it was released.

    You guys are spoiled, ungrateful prepubescent crybabies.

    Tbh, Switch Galaxy Ultra, Table Top Racing: World Tour, and Tropico 5, look amazing!! Just cause they are not AAA games, you slate them? I would happily pay PSN every month just having indie games. But that’s just me.

    An after thought, maybe if some of you guys would stop being whiny, and appreciated what Sony gives you. Maybe they might reward you for once. Takes two to tango.

    I for one and glad Tropico 5 is on there. I have been looking for a game that isn’t a shooter and I enjoy SIM games. I have looked at this one a few times but never purchased because I can’t always afford a new game. I have 4 kids that mean more so I am glad to see it’s free. Can’t wait to play. If you don’t like then don’t download. it’s free. get over yourselves. Sony is awesome.

    Absolute garbage again this month. Sony even had the nerve to give us the PSP version of Ghost of Sparta. Good thing you now require Plus for online play, Sony, ’cause I would never willingly pay for this trash. PS+ used to kick so much ass, now you guys just don’t even try anymore.

    I think it’s funny that you all feel you’re entitle to free games. Do Xbox users remember when you paid for gold and got nothing. Ps3 got better titles because when you paid for it all that money went to getting the free games and psn was garbage because it was free so they didn’t really put that much money into it. Now they actually fixed psn that means less money to give for the free games. Which would you rather have working psn or AAA titles free for a month or two. Plus we have gotten some good games rocket league was free the day it launched. I’ve had fun with tomb raider ToO which I got free also magica 2 which was free. So while it’s not exactly what you want just chill sit back play the games you always play and try something new who knows one of these games might give you more enjoyment than you think.

    So I downloaded tropico, fun game but not the best, and noticed a multiplayer option.

    Every time I try to start multiplayer it just gives me a generic connection error after 10 to 12 seconds of waiting.

    This sucks because I just got my friend to download it and we were planning on becoming tyrannical cheese mongers but the damn servers won’t let me on.

    Anyone else having this issue? And if so anyone with a solution that is better than throwing my cat out the window in frustration? (Or just saying screw this game)

    FINALLY! A proper game from Sony! I’ve been a big fan of the tropico series on PC and was hesitating of getting it on the console. Now it is FREE with my ps plus sub. Thanks Sony, for once, you’re getting it right.

    “Our team is thrilled to present…” How can Sony be thrilled at this line up, really? I’m far from thrilled with their selection – seems I’m not the only one. I remember games like Tomb raider and Metro being available for PS3, but lately games have been pretty poor – only DL I vaguely enjoyed from Sony these last six months was last months Zombi – what are Sony thinking of? Forcing players into subscription and then giving these paltry offerings is commercial suicide….

    I won’t be renewing my sub if games like these continue to make the ‘thrilling’ list. Not that I expect a billion dollar industry like Sony to care about that – it’s how they make their money after all…. Maybe the person / team who choose these daft games really do work for Microsoft, as others have said – it certainly makes me wonder why Sony would offer their customers such a poor service return – makes no sense at all…. Aren’t companies supposed to protect their consumer base? Reading the comments thus far, Sony seem to be alienating them.

    To everyone moaning about the quality of the games:
    Sony has NO obligation to give us any free games with our Plus subscription. Microsoft charged for Live for years without giving away any games. Get over it. If there’s nothing you want, don’t download them and play something else. There’s been more than a few games on Plus I would never have bought and ended up really enjoying them. Stop acting so entitled and be thankful they are giving away a bunch of games when they don’t have to.

    Personally, I feel that people whining on this forum are generally only doing so because they are relying on these free games as their ONLY source of fresh material to play. It’s hilarious to think that someone would afford a playstation 4, grab the plus membership and maybe an extra controller, then spend all year watching everyone else around them buy and play new, awesome games.

    Oh and a note to those people. I don’t want you playing Playstation online, and I am sure noone will miss you if you fail to renew your membership.

    (also the games this month are great, thanks for Tropico 5 and God of War PSP especially. Not to mention Bionic Commando 2… YAY!)

    Well, DJ, fair comments, but surely the reason people buy a ps4 is to play games that fit the platform, many of the games lately have been poor reboots of older games not initially designed for such a play station. That was, figuratively, my gripe ;) I don’t necessarily ant a AAA game every other month, but neither do I want a brace of base platform games every month.

    I’m not asking Sony to up and offer us games like Uncharted (though they have had games of that level before) – but at least games that spark the gamer in us…. I’m not alone in that, I don’t think.

    And I don’t see it as whinning, but letting Sony see that as a customer I’m not that impressed with their choices, and not just this month but month in and month out – that’s part of the consumer ethic, surely?

    As for those who say Sony don’t have to give us free games, well yes they do, it is part of the agreement, and I’m sure that aspect draws players in to subscribe.

    And, while I’m sure some will enjoy the games on offer, others will not – no matter the line up presented, that will always be the case.

    The last few days I’m working on get as much trophies as I can, and I’m looking to finish some games at 100%.
    I was so surprised to see GOW:GoS on this month lineup, but now I find that this game does not support trophies…. Really? You think that I will play this game just for fun??? …. Wait, I think that’s the way It’s supposed to be…. OK I will enjoy it and play just for fun.

    I own a PS4 and a Vita and I think that this was a good month!

    First comment ever and first-time subscriber from last year. Had access to most free games since July 2013 on ps3. Subscribed to psplus after getting ps4 one year ago and realized it was a requirement. I’m surprised and proud that they could release an expensive game like tropico 5. But when it comes to free game lineups in general whatever happened to games like these:

    Borderlands 2, ICO, Shadow of the Colussus, Hotline Miami, Payday 2, Tomb Raider, Thomas Was Alone, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, FEZ, Lone Survivor, Deadly Premonition and Beyond Good & Evil

    Deadly Premoniton, Hotline Miami, and XCOM: Enemy Unknown were by far the BEST FREE GAMES IVE EVER SEEN! Dare I say, perhaps even the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had in general!!!

    Please bring back titles like these! They don’t have to be new games or expensive games they just have to be good!!

    I’m going to wait until There’s a good lineup to resub. there are many other first time subs like me but unlike me they haven’t seen all these amazing titles on the PS3 from 2-3 years ago!

    I don’t know why everyone is complaining so much, broforce, zombi, shutshimi, tropico, and tabe top racing have all been good games, some even decently challenging. They don’t have to give us free games you guys, and beggers can’t be choosers, quit complaining and switch to xbox if you like them so much, I’ll stay loyal to the company I like.

    ok guys i was just like most of ppl blaming flaming etc about the game lineups…and how xbox one games were way better for many months than ps4 ones!today i got xbox one too with gold…….and just to inform u to install a game it takes 3-4 days(dont say about internet in ps4 whatever digital download i do it in no time)so stop flaming at least we get instant installations of games not buy a game today and play it in 2 days or so………thats all that i wanted to say ps:i am not using plus atm cus of the lack of games we all cry but since i saw the other side too of microsoft i might take again ps plus
