New Release Date for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

As you know, Naughty Dog is wrapping up production on Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End with the game on track to go gold and into production later this month. In an effort to meet the considerable worldwide demand, and to ensure that all gamers worldwide have the opportunity to play the game on day one, we have chosen to postpone the launch of the game by two weeks to allow for extra manufacturing time.

Therefore, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End has a new worldwide release date of May 10, 2016.

We know this news might be disappointing, and we are sorry to have to make you wait a little longer to play Naughty Dog’s latest. The good news is that the game is phenomenal — we are fully confident that it will be worth the wait and the team at Naughty Dog is eager as ever for you to experience Nathan Drake’s final adventure.

    Bring the game back to the March 18th, 2016 release date already.
    Since you guys have decided to delay the game for a THIRD time, I’m expecting this game to be the BEST game EVER created and EONS ahead of anything anyone can create.

    I’m okay with games being delayed a bit, but I do feel like nowadays there is no weight to a release date anymore. I would have preferred it being given a release quarter/window until they know for sure that the date can be reached, then attaching a date once they are confident in the product making that launch instead of giving the public a solid date to look forward to and then constantly changing it. Still, this looks like it could be the last delay the game will have, and I’ll still enjoy it that’s for sure. I just wish this weren’t such a common thing.

    To be honest i am so tired of this delay after delay after delay and promises promises promises. So they think they are allowed to mess with peoples head and just delay delay. Im not even trusting it will come out in May 10. They already showed a story trailer showing it is coming april 26, remove that and change it!!!!!!!!!!!.

    Why not just delay the game to 2017 December. I am done with this. They probably give you open beta as an excuse, you arent slick Sony and ND

    Soo… i guess i’ll be waiting on the next release date in June im sure at E3.. I get the reason, but this is like delay 4.

    @fourfour44 – The multiplayer is actually very fun in the Uncharted games, well U2 was fair balanced and amazing, U3 was some kind of COD junk all thrown together with no balance and “kickbacks”. ND is terrible with matchmaking though. Still enjoyable experiences though.

    Speaking of which, that might be the ext delay message, separating the campaign and multiplayer, but then the multiplayer will comes out first. haha.

    I’m ok with Naughty Dog taking has long as they need even if it means I may never get the chance to play it. Their work is phenomenal and I wish them nothing but continued success. I hope I do get the opportunity to play this and finish out Nathan Drake’s amazing story.

    I preordered on psn, i could care less about a disc shortage which is a full blown lie, getting a refund til 2 days before release now, cant delay it that close to launch

    Whelp, there goes that…
    I originally scheduled March 18th off from work, just to play this game. When they delayed it, I gave up that day. And as luck would have it, I already had the week of April 26th scheduled as vacation (as I’m moving that weekend and wanted the week to unpack and settle in). So that was a nice surprise to be getting the game when I have a whole week to play it.
    …
    Now it’s in May… so I’m just stuck with playing it around work, and avoiding spoilers from my friends and the internet…

    Now I almost hope it gets delayed until the beginning of July, when my next vacation is scheduled…

    Good call to delay it. It’s not the best idea to launch the game shortly after DS3. Either way people are going to buy it, but with this date I think it gives the game the attention it deserves.

    Oh I see May 10 eh ..here’s another advise to sony ,how about u delay it until E3 2016 it will give u one more entertaining E3 show rather ur last years disappointing ‘Indie Expireince 2015’ or simply show us the whole damn game in terms of e3 gameplays and cutscenes cause at least u’ll have one triple A title worth claiming !

    DS3 on the hype train, this will be like “the hatefull eight” and “star wars” , good move…. delay some more… like 1 or 2 months, so when people finish playing DS3 they will eventually buy UC4 LOL.

    I am getting tired of this Sony!!!! no I don’t care about bug fixes almost no one does. complain about something but this does not change the fact that this game has been delayed almost 5 times when will you keep you’re promises? when will the PlayStation community get what they deserve? you say and the beginning of the year we will be able to play one of the most excusive games now its been pushed almost 5 months sense anyone has played a well deserved game. we didn’t pick PlayStation over xbox for P+ and believe me that thing is a disaster no games besides third party iPhone apps. Sony better fix their ways or they lose me as a customer .

    This is BS, honestly, instead of keep delaying a game for months and moths over and over again, have it finished, then, set a release date, meantime test the game and work to fix all issues. Simple, right?.. You gonna make us, make me wait longer, id just easily wait a bit more, you know? Now that im waiting, why not just some more, till the price drop. Im getting UC4 for $40. Enough said.

    This month, May, what does it matter, I probably won’t be getting to playing this game until summer, given my current backlog. As long as it lives up to Naughty Dog’s gold standard of Uncharted franchise quality (and hopefully exceeds it), I can wait a few more weeks.

    I’m sure it will worth the wait, because there one bug in story mode of the last of us that is it from the start, for French language at the beginning when you search for Robert, and u encounter 3 guys the speech as a synchronization problem, and it still there in the remaster. So if it is to prevent such problem, I say : go for it.

    No problem at all, seriously. I’m actually happy about this, so i will have 4 instead of 2 weeks to play Dark Souls 3. Even though i doubt that i will be a 100% finished by then, haha, but still, i don’t like to “rush” games, and especially something like Dark Souls.
    Also, gives them 2 more weeks to polish the game or work on a patch, w.e.

    This is one of those games I usually take launch day off so I can play. I’m glad I didn’t already schedule the day as they keep moving it. Hopefully this is the last time. Kind of disappointed especially since it’s just because they need more time to make more copies and mainly because I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time

    I suspect it is to tweak the PVP part of uncharted, but if it is the main game they are having problems with maybe they shouldn’t have started from scratch when they fired Amy Hennig. She is a talented person, even if they didn’t like her, they could have kept some of her stuff just to speed up production. I hope Sony takes Uncharted to a new dev company like MS did with Halo. NaughtDog doesn’t want to do it anymore let someone else have a kick at the can, and I get more uncharted.

    Seeing the same discussion here a couple of times, and I think I fall down on the side of frustration here.

    I don’t mind a delay to get the thing right (I want it to be great, Uncharted is my favorite series), but delay it out of 2015 to “Spring” give us a date when you are SUPREMELY confident you can hit that date. I would’ve been totally fine if they had said “Spring” until today, and then said coming May 10th.

    The result of 2015->March18th->April 26th->May 10th means, for me, the hype is dead. I was trying to take time off around the 26th so I could play to my hearts content (I’ll repeat, Uncharted is my absolute favorite series). I’ll certainly be excited when I have it in my hands, but until then I just don’t want to put excitement around the date of May 10th.

    I believe this+The Last of Us delay could also hurt Naughty Dog in the future. If they try to build hype around a release date next time it could be met with a whole bunch of “okay… sure, believe it when I see it” rather than “W00T!”.*

    *- disclaimer here: I’ll still be excited regardless, but I don’t think you can delay a game 3-4 times without some folks loosing faith in your ability to hit release.

    A delay isn’t necessarily bad, but the reason given strikes me as disingenuous. If not, then pretty incompetent. Suggesting two additional weeks is needed to ensure demand, while it may be true, strikes me as bull. Why? Because usually machines are reserved months in advance. They’re not going to have a slot magically open up because somebody wants additional pressings. Something doesn’t quite add up. I have my CE pre-ordered with Amazon. I can only wait and see like the rest of us.
