  • Honestly I believe all games listed this month are to be played on vita and not worthy of playing on a console like PS4 or even PS3

  • Good thing I already have Galak-z… What happened to games like Rocket League?

This ****’s gotten pretty old pretty quick.

  • Ehhhhh nah, nothing interesting at all this month. Or last month. But the sales last month were fantastic, thankfully. Hitman Go is on sale right on release….that I just might grab.

    • That’s a very particular way of saying it Terra. My gaming taste is fairly wide, but there’s a limit to the amount of enjoyment I get from these types of game, as well as the amount of time I have to pour into gaming in general. It’s not a particular month lineup or a particular game, it’s the lack of any “meaty” (let’s call them) titles for a long period of time. I’m voicing my displeasure as a paying customer, as is my right. These snarky “lolz learn how to game” or “well, this is what you should do” comments aren’t really helping anyone.

  • Look, it’s fine that some of you like to play a lot of random indie games, super happy for you. Some of us DON’T and prefer to spend our time with higher quality titles for less periods of time (you know, adults, with jobs and stuff). It would be nice if Sony gave two ****s about us and threw us a bone every now and then. This makes it 9 months straight without a high-quality title release (with, perhaps, the notable exception of TWD season 2). Will NEVER buy a full year subscription again (beware: you can’t cancel), if at all. Screw this joke.

    • I understand that that all games aren’t for everyone. That’s true with anything from movies to food. What I don’t understand is that a lot of today’s gamers used “Indie” as a derogatory term. People are shunning Sony for giving them high quality games for the simple fact that they’re indie titles. Not all of them are winners but neither are all AAA titles. Remarks like “more crappy indies” or “these belong in the SNES era of graphics” really just make me sad but then i realize most people out there aren’t biased towards something as trivial as graphics or dev team size. I mean are we really back to, “These graphics suck, abomination of a game, 0/10.”?

    • @litebritninja89
That’s exactly the point though, not everyone has the taste for these games, or the time and work necessary to get the most out of them. Some people like more fleshed out titles that don’t revolve around some exploratory mechanic or novel re-interpretation of the sidescrolling arcade action. These people paid for their subscription as well, and they’ve been getting JACK SQUAT for 9 months now. And they have a right to complain about it.

    • Sounds like you are not the target audience. Have you tried buying the games that you want instead with the many discounts that you were offered with ps+ and the multiple sales? Your not having taste for alot of games is really not a solid argument for the lineup being bad. You are always free to spend your 50$ on a title or 2 in the store once a year instead of a subscribtion.

    • Thatā€™s a very particular way of saying it Terra. • Shallow indie-ness awaits

  • People will complain no matter what is offered on Plus. We get new, release date games constantly and people complain that Xbox has Sherlock Holmes (70ish metacritic) and Lords of the Fallen (70ish metacritic and personally a mediocre Souls style game), while Plus is getting two 80+ rated games? Because they are Indies? Indie games have been some of the best, most innovative games this generation, full of risks that AAA games can’t afford to take. And seriously, did you really pay $300+ for a PS4 just to get free AAA games? Try the GameStop bargain bin or better yet, Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked. Then you can pick whatever you want, support developers who make games you like, and spare the rest of us your whining about your free games.

    • Agreed. Glad to still see people who know what they’re talking about on here. Can’t wait to play Galak-Z! :D

    • Its because Indies are 95% of what we get. If there was a diverse mix of offerings month to month, then people like me would be happy to get an Indie here or there. (plus, the bigger tragedy here is the trash they are trying to pass off onto Vita users with Reality Fighters)

    • Mando, here is 2015 for you. Does the 95% still hold up?

      InFamous: First Light
      Prototype 2
      Yakuza 4
      Thief
      Papa & Yo
      Sherlock Holmes
      Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee
      Dishonored
      Ether One
      Unfinished Swan
      Call of Juarez
      Metal Gear Solid V
      Rocket League
      Styx
      God of War
      Twisted Metal
      Grow Home
      Broken Age
      The Walking Dead
      Mass Effect 2
      Beyond Good and Evil
      Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
      SSX
      King’s Quest – Chapter 1

  • Last month was a good month. Helldivers, two good AAA games on PS3 (although I’m not the fighting/racing type, I aknowledge the quality)… This is quite dissapointing. The PS3 selection is oddly old. I own Super Stardust HD (bought it on a sale for 0.99 I guess). I mean, come on. Last month was a pleasant surprise. This is awfully dissappointing.

    • You sir are making one of the few valid arguments i’ve seen on this message board. The only thing making the lineup not as good as previous months is that the games are fairly old. I appreciate this honesty.

  • WTF?? Worst game on the list, starting to think that they are letting us have the game with the least votes, just to pee everyone off.
How did that thing win? Looks like another game added to the library that will never get played.
Only thing ps+ gets used nowadays is for the online play, all the rest is just a p#*s take.

  • XBOX ONE gets 4 AAA titles including the award-winning Lords of the Fallen and Borderlands, and PSN gets a couple of indie games???? Really, PSN???

  • I am a tireless defender of PS+, and I’m glad to be getting Galak-Z and Broforce in particular in the free PS+ games (even though I have both on my PC already).

But for once, I want to register my absolute shock and displeasure at the inclusion of Reality Fighters, which is a garbage game NO ONE should entertain the thought of playing. Not only is it barely a fighting game, it’s barely a game, period.

It was an acceptable tech demo-style title for the Vita’s early days that deservedly got a lot of knocks for being overpriced and gimmicky, but it’s no good in 2016, and it would make more sense as an April Fool’s Day release than a part of the Instant Game Collection.

This would be the equivalent of Sony giving TerRover as a part of the IGC for the PS3, or Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified for the Vita: terrible games no one should ever be asked to play.

More acceptable Vita releases from that era would include Little Deviants, Army Corps of Hell, Unit 13 or Resistance: Burning Skies, which all share the characteristic of being so-so games that some might enjoy playing today.

  • I actually think the line-up is strong for PS4 – BUT – old guys like me are waiting for a Triple-A title. Just one. So hard? Come on, Sony.

  • I don’t often complain, but when i do, it’s because you’ve given nothing to ps4 players the past 5 months except a bunch of indie mini games. Ps3 has gotten a few big titles, far more than ps4 ever has. Even a 1 or 2 year old AAA game would be better than what you’ve given plus members access to on ps4. Severely underwhelmed….

  • Honestly this is so sad, not a single AAA game in like half a year. Goddamn indies every month, makes me rethink this years subscription to PS+.

  • Thank god I have an xbox one, INDIESTATION 4 I’m out soon as my membership ends. Crappy months in a row, shame on you SONY

    • Haha I would pay to see your face when you regret saying that 1st phrase…it’ll happen eventually. And SHAME ON YOU for being ignorant…ha you’ll be better in the other side.People like you are definitely not welcome on PS.

    • Especially since microsoft was the company who supported the indie scene heavily with live arcade. Have fun on your inferior console andy. Indiestation 4 made me giggle for a bit though i liked that :D

  • Oh man now we’re talking about !!!…Galak-Z I can’t believe you guys are giving it for free ha if it had only Galak-Z for the march lineup I’d be damn happy already.Ha great great news thanks Sony.

Now as for Broforce as the winner, this poll was nonsense…since the beginning I knew Broforce would win,you guys put 2 lets say “unknown” games to compete with Broforce which had a lot of media coverage and that basically everyone with a bit of knowledge of gaming news knew about,it was even unfair with the other 2.Next time y’all might want to look up on that.

Also I’m really surprised to see Stardust on the lineup, does it mean we might have some other old titles in the next months cuz that would be sweet.BTW if anyone still haven’t played Stardust might want to try it before talkin s*** about it…hands down one of the best PSN games ever.

Gotta say I’m glad to see Reality Fighters on the lineup too…that a game I wouldn’t pay for lol.

    • You are in fact paying for these but that aside happy to see you liked a game in the list love the enthusiasm P: wish more people were like that.

  • I love Sony and always have done and think the console and the games are great. But I think Xbox customers are getting better games each month.

    There lineup this month is:

Xbox One – Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishment & Lords Fallen.

    Xbox 360 – Supreme Commander 2 & Borderlands

Sony barely ever give any AAA games and its the same kind of indie games each month that look like what I used to play on my 8 bit NES. Its dissapointing and I don’t even look forward to seeing whats availble anymore as I know it will be the same stuff again.

I hope things change in 2016 and better games are added to PS Plus. There are loads of awesome games such as Infamous, Little Big Planet 3, Walking Dead, Lego games and many more older good quality games. Some people may like the Indie games but I know many people feel ripped off and would prefer better games. There should be one great game and 2 indie games free or 2 great games and 1 indie game that way everyone would be happy.

  • I just have to add that your disgusting little PS Now service is one of the biggest scams in video game history, and I can only hope the release of the individual PS4 reduxes of classic games means PS Now is doing poorly, and crashes and burns. Maybe then you’ll invest a little more in PS Plus, like you should be.

    • I’ve really been enjoying PS Now. I missed out on a lot of good titles from last gen and Now had a LOT of them. I haven’t really looked into general opinion or know anyone else that uses Now, but my experience has only been positive. Yea it’s not perfect but if I can beat a game without issue I say it’s a success. What was your experience with it?

    • Uh, my experience would be I should have the option to play my PS3 games I already own without issue and without yet another attempt at a monthly fee, on a PS4. Not having that option, nor the option to play even PS1 or 2 Classics, is pathetic. The reason is not technical, if you are really foolish enough to say it is then you better have some evidence.

    • I like how you belittle the service then blow it up by calling it the biggest scam made me laugh. though i do agree i would have atleast ps1 and 2 classics support on the ps4 but oh well.

  • It’s this kinda crap line up that caused me to just go buy a Xbox One.

  • I’m happy with this lineup with the exception of Super Stardust HD. That was a PS3 launch title that has been on sale many times for as little as $1 (that’s when I bought it.) There has to be something more recent from PS3’s vast library of indies or downloadable only games that Sony could have offered.

Still looking forward to Broforce and Galak-z. Thanks for listening.

  • I’m just a little disappointed in the selection this month. Last month I was excited to see Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, even though I already had the disc and played through it. It’s a great game.

The flood of indie titles for PS+ as well as just the flood of indie titles in general is annoying. These kind of games your grandma’s pc could play. Our PS4 is better and deserves better than that. :)

Also, last-gen, I thought my 360 was superior except for with regard to DVD vs blu-ray. With current gen my PS4 definitely trumps my X1. People here keep talking about backwards compatibility. Yeah, that would be great. But keep in my mind Microsoft made BC a gimmick. It was nothing more than a sales talking point for holiday 2k15. That’s all they had to offer against our superior PS4. The last month they’ve added like two tiles, Galaga, and now Geometry Wars Evolved. The bulk of their BC catalog is just Microsoft published arcade crap. BC on the X1 is simply a joke.

Last but not least, Playstation.blog is infinitely superior to the X-equivalent of Majornelson. He never ever responds to anything. Microsoft is too scared to even have open forums for Xbox like Playstation has.

  • Not even trying with these freebies anymore are we?

  • As a fan of Playstation since I was 10 yo (back in 1996), whenever I get the chance to compliment something about the brand, I do.

But now it’s the time to criticize both. This is a VERY disappointing line-up. Besides online multiplayer, which is something I rearely use, PS PLUS “free” games have been a true turn down for me since PS4 came out. Although some indie games were actually fantastic, where are those big bugdet titles we used to receive when with the PS3?

C’mon, Sony, you can do much better than that. You are now back to the first place in this ganeration: you have to make something good out of it to your consumers than just earing tons of money and offering mostly forgettable indie games.

    Thanks.

  • What a bunch of crap! Who picks these games? I didn’t get asked ! I pay for a yearly subscription to PS+ for garbage PSN games no body cares about! I hate being suckered. Why not at the minimum give us remastered PS2 AAA titles. It’s the year 2016 and it seems that the games have gotten cheaper and lame. Why does it feel like these games belong on a 1989 console? So much power under the hood and for what? Damn near 8-bit games. Step it up or get kicked a side!!!

    • Jesus you wouldn’t think everyone on here would be so graphic obsessed.

    • You have to have the subscription to play online which damn near everyone does these days. so they don’t have to give you anything. they could just say for online play you need a subscription like xbox used to do until they copied the Sony model of giving some sort of merchandise for what you are paying for instead of just online play. now I agree a lot of times the games given aren’t for everyone, but it’s 50 bucks a year man. That’s not hurting anyone’s pockets and to maybe at least once a year get something you may like and want to play not to mention a lot of discounts on dlc and games you win either way.

    • I’m happy Cyphant doesn’t get asked what games we would have. These games are designed to look like older games that’s why it feels like they belong on an older console. You seem to have a very narrow view of the amount of games ps4 offers. Have you ever considered going to a store and checking out the giant wall they cover with ps4 games instead of siphoning your lifessence through ps+.

  • I was interested in Galak-Z but kept missing it on the store when it came time to get a new game. Glad broforce won; most interesting looking game. Not sure about the vita games, but its another reason to turn it on and find out!

  • Not the most impressive line up this month.

  • Sony know that 80% of people just have PS+ for online play, so they don’t care if we like there offerings or not. Oh my bad, I forgot you can’t say anything bad against Sony on here. PS + before the PS4 was way better but its gone to ****…

  • As a European (I’ve seen “us” mentioned here a few times), I often visit the US Blog – mostly because the US gets at least a bit more interaction from devs and sometimes even Sony employees. This month was one of the first in my subscription (I came over from Xbox with the PS4 pretty much after the MS X-1 reveal and their intended policies back then) where I felt a bit… disappointed. The games themselves (and I loved many PS Plus indie offerings – actually bought several long before they went into Plus) might not be bad, but their public perception in general puts them in a rather – and don’t take that wrong – “cheap” category. And perception is important. No matter how you twist it, most people will be more “wow-ed” simply by saying “Assassin’s Creed for free” than “Galak-Z”. It’s in the perceived value, and what people perceive in the notion behind it: “They are giving us what a big franchise game that will most likely cost them money to be able to give to us. They, on the other hand, give us a selection of unknowns.” Which is unfair and does not take gameplay or potential fun into the equation, but it is what it is. So I understand the sentiment.

    • But I believe, the real reason for the discontent is not the Plus game selection, but the overall situation – where the Plus games are just the most common “vent” for the accumulated anger over the whole PSN PS Plus service and Sony’s seemingly declining interest in “4thePlayers”.

As a former Xbox Live customer, I was used to paying for the online service, but to be quite frank, Xbox Live is infinitely superior to PSN in my personal experience – more dependable, and, something that is a priority of principle for me, a lot more open and helpful when they are having issues. (Seriously, Sony, if the WHOLE net starts blanketing the web about dire issues with PSN, well, it’s really hard to read “We are aware that SOME users are having issues…” or the other standard responses people get from Askplaystation or the blog (if we get any at all).)

    • I wouldn’t mind only indie games from PS Plus if that wasn’t a (major) selling point of the service – since Sony steadfastly refuses to just call it a fee for online gaming on PS4. Sadly they cannot, as the PSN service is far from stable enough to be its own selling point. I am under no illusions that PSN online gaming, a service that was free until this generation, can make up the headway MS has gained through years of dedicated experience supported by steady financial backing – and this IS Microsoft, so they do know a bit about that stuff.

    • In essence, PSN online gaming is not stable enough to stand on its own as a paid-for service. Xbox Live is and has been for years. At the same time. Xbox has, due to market necessity, drastically improved their offers, chief among them Games with Gold and Backwards Compatibility. Sony on the other hand has completely forgone Backwards Compatibility (something that no doubt is due to the very complicated and apparently slightly eccentric technical structure of the PS3 – Xboxes mostly ran on PC principles and hardware) and put their hopes into PS Now – an interesting service, for sure, but still very limited in its availability (only the UK in Europe even has a trial) and… not to sound stingy, but it will charge you to play games you already own, whereas Xbox 360 Games with Gold are all playable on the Xbox One – which includes the Xbox One’s technical capabilities such as capturing or streaming.

    • And they have shown to be willing to offer games for “free” that will most likely cost them money – in the short term, at least. Are they doing it to get more customers? Yes, of course, but they also show remarkable effort when it comes to listening to their community – and providing constant technical improvements to their system, again something Sony could do a lot better in. Both dedicated by the market situation, but still true.
All in all, it’s not unfair to say that Xbox One and Xbox Live are, right now, possibly the more attractive option – better online service, “better” or at least better-looking “free” games, and really free backwards compatibility. Add to that a willingness to appeal to their customer base and provide technical updates – I don’t think it’s wrong to say that Xbox One has, through updates, shown more improvement than the PS4.

    • And that will to improve and listen to their community has been a bit absent with Sony – which might just be my impression, but that`s what it seems like – and for me, that coincided with their “win” of the current console war. In the lead-up to the PS4 release it seemed all about the players – but that enthusiasm seems to have waned a bit, and I think that is part of the reason that people are feeling disappointed.
When mediocre online service (that you have to pay for on PS4) comes with really long wait times between technical updates (that more often than not “overlook” some things people have been asking for for a long time), less than mediocre communication and support (especially during problematic times) and a perceived decline in the quality of one of their selling points (Free games with Plus), it’s not surprising that customers of the service get a bit restless – or look to the “shiny” competition that actually seems to try very, very hard.

  • i really will never by a indie game because it will eventually always end up on ps plus.

  • Once again awful. Please cancel my plus and refund my money.

  • I remember the good days when PS+ was amazing, and I use to talk people into getting it and how amazing and great the Sony brand was to its customers.

Because they only give us indies now, HumbleBundle is cheaper and last for ever for the EXACT SAME games (plus like 10 zillion more).

All of you saying you want to switch to Xbox One the selection there sucks too. Just very old stuff. I get everything my self. Literally the BEST place to get monthly stuff is HumbleBundle.

    1. You get to choose what you want.
    2. It’s for life
    3. The online services are free (steam) and they have the BEST online services

Seriously you just pay $1 to $10 a month on bundles, support charity, and get the same games PS4 gets plus more just for life @_@

Though I will say PS+ is still worth it if you use PS Vita/PS3 still. The Vita selection stays golden <3 and PS3 gets a few decent titles here and there.

    • Now, even Origin Is better than PS+…

    • LOL, I just bought a Humble Bundle for these exact reasons. Nothing good for Vita this month, though usually there is, yeah.

    • Sad to see humbundle is no longer seen as a great charity case but just a place for the cheapest of cheapskates like sid to get their games.

Let’s not go too far on that origin is better though xD

  • I might try “Reality FIghters” but am uninterested in everything else.

  • I canceled my PLUS membership a few months ago because of garbage monthly lineups like this one. I keep checking in each month to see if things are getting better, to see if maybe I should reconsider and sign up again.

So far, my decision has been the right one. In fact, the lineups are getting *worse* each month. My $49.99 is being better spent elsewhere.

  • Where the AAA games for PS3????? Just Indies Games is hard to belive…. Anyway, i’m not renew my PS Plus Account. XBox Live >>>>> PS3 Plus

  • Andy Lum
    gamesa re a joke RIGHT

  • 0 out of 5 stars

  • PS Vita…. :(

  • xbox gets lords of the fallen and we get more indie crap!!!! yippee. i haven’t download a ‘FREE’ game yet this year, thank god for plus discounts or plus would be completely useless. who gets excited for this **** anyway.

  • You really can’t compete with Xbox? They get FULL GAMES not these cheap indie knock offs. THEY GET LORD OF THE FALLEN. I’m seriously just going to switch over. They know how to treat their costumers.

  • Whomever heads up PSN and PS+ should honestly be ashamed of themselves and take a long, hard look at the road you’re going down. You’re losing a lot of subscribers and you’re going to continue to do so. We know there’s no incentive for you to provide us with popular or even decent titles since you forced the pay-to-play online model and that people will still fork over the money. But I hope you realize where this is going.

The best thing about PlayStation was the free online multiplayer. You took that away.
The best thing about PlayStation+ was the great titles. You took that away.

I hope whatever money you’re making from this new online model has been worth taking advantage of loyal PlayStation players, many of which stuck with you through the compromise of their personal info. It’s clear that you have no problem trashing any goodwill you have left with players after because what you’ve done with by charging for online multiplayer and diluting the PS+ service has been nothing short of insulting and embarrassing.

  • Feels like i’m going to drop Plus to sign in to Live Gold.

  • I’m not sure what it’s worth but I’ll throw in my 2 cents. I’m not mad or upset in the slightest about the somewhat weak games offered over the past few months, but my sub ends in a couple weeks and I have no intention on renewing. I’m not big on online gaming, I’ll play the occasional shooter or mlb but I mainly like solo gaming so without some better games I won’t be subscribing anymore. If they included lords of the fallen, ac4, or something along those lines (just mentioned those games because I keep seeing them come up) I would be much more inclined to renew, but my causual online gaming alone won’t have me needing to renew anytime soon.

  • This line up is terrible, just like the last one and the one before that. I haven’t downloaded and played a play station plus game since I can’t even remember when, at least a year. I’m bored of you throwing out these tiring indie games repeatedly. The only reason I keep my plus membership is because of GTA online which incidentally is ten times more fun than downloading this garbage. Xbox gold get AAA games and we just get screwed. Yeah thanks Sony

  • Sony listen, what about this:

in my opinion they should start with bigger indiegames like shovelknight, hotline miami 2 and only 4 times the year they should bring some bigger AAA titles
Titan Souls, Hotline Miami 2, The Escapist, TWD 1, Saints Row, Murdered, Shovel Knight, Wolf among us, Old Blood, Thief, Armello, Metro Redux, Rayman, Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Sherlock Holmes, Tomb Raider 2013, New Order, Unwritten Tales 2, Dishonored, Evolve, Knack, KZ, Infamous, Prototype, Evil Within, Devil May Cry

those games are from the last sale, they were really cheap. sony could do it.

  • Compared to Xbox this monthly membership seems a waste of money.

  • That reminded me I don’t really play online on my PS4, and the upcoming “free” games aren’t worth it. Time to turn off my subscription auto-renewal.

  • Someone leaked April’s lineup here, looks awesome sauce. Greatness Await for sure! https://youtu.be/5bQ9hfRhdm8
On a serious note, I’ve already lost count on how many times they have recycled Super Stardust HD as a PS Plus free game, I remember seeing this title thrown in the PS Plus lineup a few years ago; not to mention that BOTH of PS3 May’s lineup was a part of the FREE games they gave away during the 2011 hack incident.

I’m so sick of spaceship/galaxy/shooting/tank-war type of games, every single month they give the same ****!

January: Hardware: Rivals – a type of tank-war shooting game
February: Helldivers – a type of outer space tank shooting game
March: Galak-Z/Super Stardust HD – a type of galaxy shooting game

    SICK!

I’m a fan of indie games, sure… but PLEASE give some fresh, not a another tank/spaceship shooting games!
I’d love to see Neverending Nightmare as one of the lineup someday, it would give players a new experience and not the same thing over and over again!

It’s been a very, very long time since I had a good and new experience while playing any of the PS Plus games.

  • I hate when ppl say it’s not free because you pay a monthly subscription. The subscription is for the service not the games. Wether they offer games or not you still pay for a subscription. They are titles that cost money that you can play for free. What if you had a blockbuster unlimited and they said with your subscription you get one free movie ticket a month you would say that’s free even though you don’t get to keep that movie and won’t continue getting that benefit if you cancel your sub. These games range from 14 to 20 dollars. Let’s do some math lets go with 15 15×12 $180×2= 360 a year plus the service. What’s a year cost now 50 your getting a online service as well as $360 in games a year sounds like an ok deal to me

  • am saying this from my own perspective….
    i have been a PS+ subscriber since 2015 the 31st of July.
And so far: i only have Styx master of shadow, Rocket league, Lara croft, Limbo, installed on my PS4.
although i have added every single game from IGC to my library.
but right after august, i hated every single lineup as well as this current lineup. thing is.
with all the amount of dislikes on every lineup video. why are we still receiving these kind of games?
2D. 8bit,childish indie… etc. regardless indie or not. where are the good indie/arcade/AAA games?
games like these on this lineup are unplayable not even worth time. i don’t really wanna mention what MS is giving to their users. but they’re getting way better games. what’s the difference between Gold and PS+? our voice may not be heard and my comment may not make difference but whatever. “a really deep sigh”

Really reaching far back into the bag of crap to pull those two out! Thanks for ****ting on your customers Sony!

  • I’m actually really looking forward to a few of these. Rather get some good indies then get an old AAA game
