As we look forward to the New Year, we’re excited to share our January 2016 PlayStation Plus lineup with everyone. This month our PS4 games pay homage to a couple classic, fan-favorite titles, while updating the gameplay and graphics to PS4!
Hardware: Rivals makes its exclusive debut on PlayStation Plus. Get behind the wheel of a powerful tank or mobile attack jeep in this arcade-style, vehicle combat game. Inspired by the PS2 classic Hardware: Online Arena, Hardware: Rivals lets you challenge your friends or enter the online multiplayer arena on your own and experience epic vehicular mayhem with multiple maps, game modes, and special events.
If you need a breather from all the vehicle-on-vehicle combat, you can always turn to the twisted Mexican folklore of Grim Fandango Remastered. As Manny Calavera, travel agent for the Department of Death, you’ll guide poor souls to their eternal rest. Crime. Skeletons. Romance. You’ll experience it all in this update to the beloved adventure game.
These PS4 games are free for PlayStation Plus members starting on the first Tuesday of January, and you can find the full list of PlayStation Plus games below.
Full Lineup:
- Dragon Age: Origins, PS3
- Grim Fandango Remastered, PS4, PS Vita
- Hardware: Rivals, PS4
- Legends of War Patton, PS Vita
- Medal of Honor Warfighter, PS3
- Nihilumbra, PS Vita
Before you go, we want your feedback! Please leave us a comment below and tell us what you think of the lineup. Thank you for stopping by.
Until next time! Enjoy.
Not usually one for commenting on here. But the last couple of months the PS+ program hasn’t compelled me to continue to justify paying for it. When it runs out I don’t see myself getting it renewed.
I don’t mind the selection of games usally but what I do mind is being given psp games. For my subscription I am led to believe that I will be getting vita games, not psp games. I would hope that they wouldn’t give us ps1 games as part of the subscription so why on earth are they pulling this with us vita owners. The other month they give us Invizimals for the psp, now they give us Legends of war. Both of these games have vita versions so give us the vita games and not the psp versions. I pay a subscription for ps3 and vita games. I don’t pay to be given games for psp.
They use indie titles instead of AAA because they know that most customers are willing to spend their money on AAA, not necessarily the indies. It’s a way to get a wider audience to try out some games that could potentially be hidden gems.
An 6 year old RPG, a remastered point-n-click game, a new combat racer, a turn based strategy game no one has heard of, a “poor” shooter, and a puzzle platformer….
….compared to a free to play fighting game, a “side-scrolling” beat-em up, a sequel to a dead racing franchise given 2 months before, and an RPG/shooter.
I’ll take my chances with PlayStation.
Someone said “sigh. underwhelming selection is underwhelming. it really feels more like the sort of gifts you pass along to random relatives becasue you didn’t like them or had any use of them”
EXACTLY right. Those people who choose the PS PLUS titles…do you *really* think they would play those titles themselves? I think not. The PLUS games reek of being “afterthoughts”….they aren’t even close to being frontline games. Most months, I haven’t even HEARD of 75% of the PLUS titles. I’m like “what the _ is THIS?”.
I’m not saying there aren’t hidden gems among lesser known games that you can enjoy but every single month is filled with these bizarre titles. That’s why I decided to cancel my PLUS membership.
The bottom line is that the PS4 is vastly outselling the XBone, so Sony doesn’t have to go nuts to try to sell them. You can almost hear them saying, “We can give them anything on PS4 and it doesn’t matter”.
They’re winning….they don’t care.
Case closed.
I have not been impressed with the ps + lineup in a long time. These are not free games. We pay for them with the subscription.
$50 a year for a subscription, 6 games a month at least, whether on systems you do or don’t have. After the first month, the rest of the year is free games. But call me a liar for doing math
