Vote to Play Begins Thursday, Help Decide Next PS Plus Lineup

Today, we’re pleased to announce the games that will be part of Vote to Play — our special promotion that enables PlayStation Plus members to vote on one of three PlayStation 4 games for next month’s PS Plus game lineup. All three of these games would be a great addition to our lineup, and we want to put the choice in your hands when voting begins on Thursday, August 13th.

Without further ado, here are the games on the ballot.

A grim fairy-tale board game come to life, combining deep, tactical card play, rich tabletop strategy, and RPG elements. Set in a vibrant magical world with a tinge of darkness, Armello thrusts players into an epic struggle for power as they quest, scheme, explore, vanquish monsters, perform the mad king’s royal edicts, and face off against other players, with one ultimate end goal in mind — storming the palace and becoming King or Queen of Armello.

Grow Home

You play BUD (Botanical. Utility. Droid), a robot on a mission to find the Star Plant and save his planet. Discover a strange open-world: a planet of floating islands, with precipitous drops, caves and waterfalls to navigate, all rendered in a minimalist but beautiful art style. Grow the giant Star Plant and use your unique climbing abilities to reach ever higher ground, but be careful as you ascend because one wrong move and it’s a long way down!

Zombie Vikings

From the creators of last year’s indie hit Stick It to The Man! comes a new co-op, four-player stab-you-in-the-gut-a-thon with a dead-funny adventure. Hack through the boiling gingerbread swamps of Molgaga, take a cruise through the intestines of the Midgaard Serpent, fight giant troll poultry, and find out how Söccer was really invented.

Voting starts Thursday, August 13th at 8:30 AM Pacific (update: we are currently tracking for 10am Pacific Time) and ends Monday, August 24th, at 8:30 AM Pacific. The final result will be revealed after voting closes. If you’re a PS Plus member and you want to cast your vote, simply log on to PS4 with your PSN account, and access Vote to Play under “What’s New,” “Notifications,” or visit the PS Plus section of the PlayStation Store, where you’ll find details for Vote to Play.

The game with the most votes will automatically be included in our September free game lineup, and PlayStation Plus members can get the two runners-up at a discount. We can’t wait to see what PlayStation Plus members decide for September in our first Vote to Play event. We’ll have more events in the future, so stay tuned.

You can find more information about Vote to Play here, along with the benefits of being a PlayStation Plus member.

So tell us, what game are you planning to vote for?

  • going for Zombie Vikings!!! Loved stick it to the man, the team at zoink are great. Their writing is what really gets me excited for this, and looks like a newer castle crashers

  • This is a great program! Thanks for delivering it to us.

  • hopefully the other ps4 igc title is good, because the voting titles look about as interesting as watching paint dry.

september is looking like another bad month for igc so far.

    • Really? Wow… I never though watching paint dry would be fun, so I never tried it. Kind of like you’ve never tried these games. (Sorry couldn’t resist)

    • How about you grow up and vote? That sounds fun. That sound very fun.
      Stop being an idiot.

  • Honestly I just can’t wait we get more choices of full fledge PS4 games. I loved the Injustice game we got a couple months ago and haven’t really downloaded much other games since.

  • Lets see, a board game, a four player co op, or a bland 3D platformer…..
Its not that we dont get to pick our games, its that the games offered usually suck.

But, its great that aony made this happen since a lot of people have asked for it. Too bad they cant do it every month, though.

  • Can my vote be for 3 other games to choose from? :/

    • +1 none of these look appealing and I personally won’t vote or download any of them. Hopefully Sony offers good games next month but I’m losing hope. It’s been like 5 months of only bottom of the barrel games.

    • @ashikenshin

you can’t vote, its for ps+ members, not trolls.

  • Armello is a game I really like on PC ( early-access ) if you like table game, RPG, cards game and you put nice pictures it’s a game for you :D

  • Is this just ps4 or is it PS3 too?

  • Those videos were nice. It is hard to only pick one when obviously all these developers put a lot of passion, heart, and time into their creations.

I would honestly be happy with any one of those games to come “free” on Plus. They all are so different, and I dig variety in gaming.

Pretty sure Grow Home or Vikings will win…and that kinda makes me want to vote for Armello as I’m always a sucker for the underdog.

    Good luck to all three!

    • Well Armello is still the ‘underdog’ at the moment and I would love to see you vote for it :)

But seriously if you are at all interested in Armello spread the word to your PS Plus friends, social media, call grandma whatever it takes to get some more votes. “” I think this is an underrated game that deserves six seasons and a movie.
The design team build a real board game (that I would love to have) to test the game as they moved forward in development. I love that idea.

Hoping to see you in game. Vote, vote, vote!

  • Zombie Vikings looks the most fun to me.

  • I like that we get to vote, though none of these games appeal to me. I do wonder is it just going to be on indie games that maybe coming or on major games also? I have no problem with it just being indies just wondering. Also I am sure that there will be games later that I will be all about trying to get people I know to vote for.

  • All three look great and the developer videos are a great way to help decide.

  • OMG i really want Dying light Tomb Raider cause i miss the last promotion of it.. And er idk what else xP

  • Armello!

Will be able to see how the votes are doing? Can we change our vote?

    Great iniciative!

    • Daily vote update via email, twitter, PS Mail would be great! I’ve been asking as many people as I can who voted for Armello “” to pass on the news of this game to other PS Plus gamers they know in order to get them to vote in the PS Store. We need to move this game up the ranks.

  • Grow Home looks tight. I’m getting it one way or another!

  • I’m telling to everyone since now.
Why do I say that? Because would you rather to play the other games which are only single player and play alone like a total loser or would you rather to play a multiplayer game experience with your friends which is more moving than Armello and Grow Home. Think wisely and don’t make me smack you.

    • I am NOT voting for Zombie Vikings just because you called me a loser. ;)

    • “play alone like a total loser”

The perfect choice. Thanks for asking.

    • Speaking as someone who has played Armello (as recently as my current lunch break) I can assure you it is a multiplayer game. It is also the best choice. The only choice. The one true king will be decided next month guys and gals.

    • Actually Armello has 4 player co-op. Its a board game, they generally are best played with more people but this game looks fun playing solo too.

    • Not voting for Zombie Vikings at this time since I really love the look of Armello. I really think everyone should vote, and that Sony should include a “None of the above” choice for the people who may not like the current round of games.

Everyone should vote, vote, vote :)

  • I really like this program. All 3 look interesting, but Zombie Vikings had the best video IMO. But I got until Thursday to decide, so I will probably change my mind among all 3 about 20 times before I vote.

  • Armello is what people should vote for! The game looks great and its different than most of the ps+ games we have gotten already.

Sadly, some thing tells me that any thing that is Zombie related or “shooter” related will always end up the winner…. but i pray the PS+ community will surprise me. However, i cant fault people for liking what they like. This world would be boring if every one was the same.

I watched all 3 videos having to do with each game, and i can say that Armello is the one that stands out the most as being different and looking the most fun.

Please if you have no interest in any of these games than would you be kind enough to cast your vote for Armello. There’s a lot of us out there who would appreciate it even tho we may be the smaller gaming community compared to the others.

    • We the Armello fans need to spread the word as far out in the other social media as possible to gather as many of the like minded voters to the PS Store. “” looks fantastic and getting it for free would be the frosting on the cake :)

  • Definitely going with Grow Home

  • Even if Zombie Vikings doesn’t win, I’ll probably still buy it. I loved Stick It To The Man and I love 4 player beat-em-ups.

  • Armello all the way! Armello will get my vote. Otherwise i’d vote for Zombie Vikings. Grow home? Meh…

    • Bluesummers8 spread the word, try to get as many of your PS Plus friends to vote for it in the PS Store. Armello is lagging behind at the moment, but if we educate people how on how great it is “” maybe we can pull out a win. Multiplayer (up to 4), easy to learn but more advanced tactics are your experience grows, a solid and fun looking game.

  • torn between grow home and zombie vikings but i’m gonna have to go with grow home.

  • None of the above

    • Just vote for the one you think deserves it.

    • I like all three this time, and voting is a great option. But it would be really nice to have a “None of the above” option in the vote so everyone could be tallied more accurately.

As I’ve said in other posts I wouldn’t want to vote for a sports game since I don’t like them, but I still would like my vote to be counted in that situation.

  • I think this is a great idea as long as the winner won’t be the only PS Plus game we’ll be getting. And the runner-ups get a discount? Very cool. They all look great but I think I’ll be voting for Armello. I love the idea of great board games that I don’t have to worry about cleaning up afterwards ;-)

    • All kinds of benefits of playing it on the PS4, and not picking up the pieces are just one of them. But if the developers a reading these comments I would “LOVE” to have an actual board game version of your game. I know you have on :)

If you like the look of Armello “” spread the news to all the social media you can think of so we can move it up the ladder. Running in third at the moment but hoping to move into first as people realize what the game is about.

  • Grow home will probably win, but all three games seem nice.

  • Armello is the clear choice here. Both Armello and Grow Home have excellent ratings on Steam, but Armello is more expensive. Plus, there’s an additional character for the PS4 release. Armello all the way!

    • Push your vote to all your PS Plus friends, Twitter, Facebook, reddit whatever you can. It is trailing behind and really shouldn’t, we need to get the word out that Armello “” should win. Build up the player base for it on the PS4 and hopefully gain expansions in the long run.

Looking forward to seeing you ingame

  • Interesting situation… the zombie game has the worst pitch video, but the gameplay looks the most promising and it has 4 player co-op. I’ll probably vote for that simply because it’ll bring the most fun, but purely based on merit, I would have voted for Grow Home. Dunno why you have to put us into this situation.

    • In my opinion Grow Home had the worst pitch. It was extremely dull and the whole point of the game is to climb up into the sky and come back down. Then what? Zombie Vikibgs came out swinging with lots of style and humor and let the game literally do the talking. Armello would be my second choice but it was a super cut and dry pitch.

    • Armello is a four player as well. Not co-op, but still looks great. The video they chose wasn’t strong enough in my opinion, but if you go to “” and check it out it might sway your vote… or at least I hope it does :)

  • Yay! SONY choose the games and we vote. More useless INDIES game as always. Voting for games that Sony pick…. What a joke!!!

    • I know the regulations say “Don’t be a jerk” but that’s exactly what you’re doing. Fire with fire right?

You’re an idiot. Have you ever actually tried an Indie game? LIMBO is in this weeks line-up. Try it, it’s amazing.
Another good Indie, Rocket-League. That was last weeks line up.
Another one that was in a previous week, Outlast.
Pier Solar and the Great Architects.
      The Binding of Isaac.
      Towerfall Ascension.

You’re a blind idiot that needs to learn how to look past Triple-A games and look towards supporting indie developers.
As it is with music and movies, the better things are typically things not released publicly (the indie movie, Thor, does not support this claim, that movie was terrible, as is The Flaming Lips with the majority of their songs).

    • This Shadow guy seems to be an angry Indie dev.

  • ….. Are all you “None” people idiots?

These line-ups bring smaller games (typically allowed by Indie-developers) to our library of games for free. Vote for whichever one you think deserves a good chance and some rep. Don’t be a whiney baby and say None, What do you want, “Call of Duty?” Get your 10 year old ass out of hear and go try for an MLG career, we don’t need you fake gamers. (Sorry to legit players that enjoy Call of Duty, I haven’t been a fan of that series since after World at War)

Support Indie developers, try and make something out of you being a gamer rather than wasting everyone’s time with you pathetic complaints.
(And I hope you realize, SONY is limited by the permissions they get from the developers, when you complain, you’re complaining about the rights of the developers. Grow up)

I’m voting for Armello, Seems like a fun idea to play that for a few days.

    • “Get your 10 year old ass out of hear and go try for an MLG career, we don’t need you fake gamers.”

you seem to be confused as to what “fake gamers” are. that label is much more fitting of people who try to say that cellphone games are on the same level as something like guilty gear or wolfenstein.

most people want full featured games, not mini games that you play for 5 minutes and never touch again.

    • You got it all wrong. “Fake gamers” should be referred to people that are entertained with indie hipster “games”.

    • “None of the above” should be a choice!

I voted for Armello “” and I like the other two choices, but if this was all sports games I would still like to be able to vote and be counted accurately as a None of the above in that case.

  • Just wanted to add: Ultimately, at least 50% of the voting populous will end up disappointed that their selection didn’t win. I don’t want that discourage this vote to choose option again in the future, since I think it’s a great feature. Even if my vote (Armello!) doesn’t win, I’ll likely still pick it up depending on how deep the discount is.

    • Agreed!

Armello should win, and if you can spread the news to others in order to get more votes I think that would be great. But ultimately all these games should get a deep discount and the people who like them will get the benefit of playing them all.

  • Going with zombie Vikings! Stick it to the man was great!
And for all the whiners….. Guess what? I bought the ps4 over Xbox one because of the variety of Indy games (especially 2d ones) so I’m happy with my plus membership.
If you want Call of Duty spend your money on that and shut it. No reason to be trolls all the time.

    • I also preferred the PS4 over an XBOX because of indies and Japanese games. These games are all good options, whoever doesn’t like it has wrong expectations from PS Plus.

  • Going to have to vote for GROW HOME for 2 reasons, 1. I’ve been waiting to play this since it came out on the PC. 2. Well his name is BUD and so is mine!! (Bud Coy)

  • Wow! These are some great options! Can’t decide between Zombie Vikings and Armello though…

  • All games look great to me. I’m between Armello and Zombie Vikings. I like the concept of Armello, but I played Stick it to the Man and really enjoyed it… So… We’ll see…

    • They should all get decent price cuts in the end so you should be able to get them in the PS Store after the vote, but vote for the one you like the best. If that is Armello then I would be thrilled “”

I knew it! Just indiecrap to choose from, so everyone will still get some indie piece of s. that nobody would never had any interest in in first place if it wasn’t free and/or that nobody will play more than 5 minutes.

    • look like you are trying to convince yourself more than anything here, btw youre not even a ps+ member anyway, salty betty.

    • A couple points to put out here…

      1. You and a very VERY small minority are the only one’s that have an issue with this line up.

      2. Have you every actually played an Indie game? My library is 3:1 for Indie Games, and I love it.

      3. You saying “Indie-crap” is also calling Outlast, Rocket League, LIMBO, and Mercenary Kings complete crap. That were publicly loved games, that people even put above other games.
      – Much like Journey, which was one of the best games of its year.

      3. You’re not even a PS+, you can’t vote. Go troll some other forum.

    • I can tell you never even tried a indie game out. Looks like you pulling to convince yourself hard not to like indies. Deep down you are scared to try one and actually LIKE it. Outch, HA

  • I love this idea. I think they all look like fun. But I can only vote for one, so….

    Zombie Vikings!

  • Grow home!!!!

  • Armello is SO much fun on Mac. Definitely voting for that!

  • Zombie Vikings! Stick It To The Man was great.

  • I liked grow home si tgats my vote grow home

  • I love this new format in wich developers make a video showing us the game <3

  • I love how the developers made a video asking for votes. But while I’m a little tiered of indies I have to admit I don’t know who to vote for. All three look fun.

  • Armello sounds like a lot of fun! They have my vote for sure!

    • Thrilled to so another Amello voter. Pas it along to your PS Plus friends and ask them to vote via PS Store as well. Armello “” is behind at the moment, but if we get the word out maybe we can get it moving into first place :)

  • I kindly asked UBISoft for Grow Home on PS4 awhile ago. Really glad they listened.

  • I still would like the option to be able to purchase games that we received free through PS+

I know it seems counterintuitive, but as it stands now I’m just more tempted to not vote for a game I want in hopes it doesn’t win and instead gets the PS+ discount.

    • Not sure I’m following you. Do you want the free games or not? Are you saying you’d rather spend money to keep them permanently or something?

    • Yup, that’s exactly what I’m saying. If I enjoy a game enough, I wouldn’t mind buying it to keep it permanently (and to show the developers some support).

    • ” If I enjoy a game enough, I wouldn’t mind buying it to keep it permanently (and to show the developers some support).”
-but only if i get it on a discount and not just paying for it for the brice after my ps+ subscription ends.

Downloading the game for free still supports them btw.

  • Hooray! This feature will be awesome! I’ve been really looking forward to playing Armello, so it’s even nicer to see that this program kicks off with me being able to vote for a game that I’m super excited about!

  • Gotta say I haven’t been one to complain about very many of the free games since there are some great ones out there for all platforms. The only time I groan is when I get something I already have or just recently bought like Tomb Raider. But I’m pretty much with everyone else. None of these games look that good. Grow Home had my attention with the thumbnail only to turn out to be a major disappointment. I guess if I had to pick it would be Zombie Vikings hands down. The trailer immediately jumped out at me with its humor. I just have not been a fine of the online only free games like Secret Poncho which I played for two seconds then deleted.

  • Clearly Grow Home will win. it looks the most interesting.

  • Grow Home or Zombie Vikings… Which should I choose?
