What makes treasure hunting even more appealing? Treasure hunting with friends! Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris leads the lineup of free PS Plus games for August, which includes four games that are playable on PS4. Which games, you ask? Well, you’ve come to the right place…
Temple of Osiris follows in the footsteps of Guardian of Light, with fast-paced cooperative play, head-scratching puzzles, and glorious treasure. Traverse the dangerous environments solo, or with friends, and guide Lara on yet another supernatural adventure.
Also up for grabs is the critically-acclaimed Limbo. This haunting story has captured the hearts and minds of gamers around the globe — and has chilled a fair number of spines. If you have a fear of spiders, be prepared to cover your eyes.
If that sounds a bit too unnerving, jam out and get creative with Sound Shapes — which is also available on PS3 and PS Vita. Sound Shapes revolves around musical platforming, fantastic visuals, and a powerful level creator.
Rounding out the PS4 offering for this month is Stealth Inc. 2: A Game of Clones, which is also available on PS3 and PS Vita.This puzzle platformer tasks you with escaping a dangerous research facility in which death is readily distributed to your hapless clones.
Also, joining the August lineup are God of War Ascension (PS3) and CastleStorm (PS3, PS Vita), ensuring that you have plenty of gaming to keep you busy this month.
These games are available to PS Plus members starting on Tuesday next week. Enjoy!

IDK why ppl are still complaining. those who couldnt understand quality can play some of the crap from the last 6 months
Personally i thinks Sony should step it up with the games
ok not bad this month looking forward to trying Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris looks like sony is trying
Why are people complaining? These are literally free games that Sony is giving us cause they care about their fans. I for one would be happy even if they re-released some games that they have already done as PsPlus Exclusives three or four more times in the year. Be happy with what you get.
“Why are people complaining?”
Because they think it makes them look rebellious/cool. Or they’re sociopaths with no regard for social harmony. Eternally chasing fleeting self-gratification. I feel sorry for them, personally.
They are literally not free. Unless I’ve been fooled and I can access these games without being subscribed to PS+.
@ Senzeki
“Free”, in this case, means: “Included, at no extra cost.” It might not be the best word to use, but, technically, it’s not dishonest either, since any given consumer’s desire to subscribe to Plus could be for reasons other than accessing the included game collection.
Personally speaking, these games are free to me since I maintain my Plus subscription for the precious cloud storage, the extra discounts on the games that I want to own, and, most recently, for playing online. As well as the occasional bonus perk that comes around every once in while. The game collection has always been an extra to me.
@Primerolncognito
While you bring up some fair points, I feel that you’ve twisted things in such a way to make them come off more generous than they really are, even if unintentionally. It’s more honest to divvy up the cost of the service among the included features than it is to say that you only use it for Feature A, and so you consider Feature B free. Those may be your feelings, but this is not the reality.
For example, somebody subscribes to a TV + Internet + Phone service bundle. They use this package primarily for the internet and perhaps watching a bit of television, but handle most of their calls on their smart phone. That phone service isn’t free just because it’s not the focus of their attraction to the bundle.
So similarly if I am subscribed to Playstation Plus, a service that offers cloud storage, monthly game discounts and downloads, and more recently the ability to play titles online on the PS4, regardless of how much value you attribute to each individual feature of the entire package, downloadable games are part of this paid package.
@ Sezneki
Fair argument, but, in my case, I was subscribed to Plus before the IGC existed, and the cost of the subscription did not increase, nor did the staples of the service decline in quality or quantity (in fact, cloud storage increased!) upon introduction of the IGC. Therefore, these games really could be seen as “free” by a good number of us.
No twisting there, that’s the flat-out truth.
But, seriously, you believe that 72 games for $50 per year isn’t “generous”? C’mon now…
@Primerolncognito
When they’re being paid for and most of them are cheap games that have probably had their sales drop off the radar, no, I wouldn’t really consider that generous. If Sony were hemorrhaging money from sheer generosity, this wouldn’t be a service.
This is marketing, and people are buying into it to the point of considering paid content free and given to us out of the kindness of their hearts.
@ Senzeki
Believe me, I see all the business side of it. I had to manage finances and advertising at a couple jobs, myself. But, the discrepancy between the cost of the service and the amount of content offered within is just too great to not see that some level of generosity is on display here.
Numerous times, brand new and highly popular games have been released through Plus, sometimes on day one (most recently, Rocket League – a game that could have easily made a KILLING ($$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!) had it been released by traditional means).
While a good portion of Sony’s strategy may be influenced by competition, it’s undeniable that such sacrifices do require a bit swallowing one’s pride, and accepting the adversity that comes with it. Humility. Discipline. Reason.
The games are not free. Even when you take into account what’s being offered, it doesn’t discredit those that are upset.
-1GB of cloud storage that I maxed out on a year into this cycle.
-Up to 80% off games that will inevitably be on PS+ anyway and the games that don’t come on plus get up to 50% off but only when they’re kept at the $59.99 MSRP anyway
-Online play for PS4 (I personally have no gripes with the service outages, but there’s that)
I’m surprised that people start defending Sony when they wish for just a little more for their monies. The defense is always, “What do you expect?!? Uncharted 4 and Black Ops 3???” I’ve only read of people requesting the launch titles. Then again, “THESEGAEMZSUK” isn’t creating a discussion either.
@ PrimeroIncognito you made the mistake of not adjusting for depreciating value of the older games this is something Sony does not do as well as retail. But the day one Plus titles is a valid thought. which in some ways serves to the fact that Sony could offer older so called AAA games I mean Rocket league was so hyped and the hype is warranted(doesn’t happen much lately) What did Sony offer for it to be on Plus if it was expected to sell like minecraft which it should imo.
