What makes treasure hunting even more appealing? Treasure hunting with friends! Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris leads the lineup of free PS Plus games for August, which includes four games that are playable on PS4. Which games, you ask? Well, you’ve come to the right place…

Temple of Osiris follows in the footsteps of Guardian of Light, with fast-paced cooperative play, head-scratching puzzles, and glorious treasure. Traverse the dangerous environments solo, or with friends, and guide Lara on yet another supernatural adventure.

Also up for grabs is the critically-acclaimed Limbo. This haunting story has captured the hearts and minds of gamers around the globe — and has chilled a fair number of spines. If you have a fear of spiders, be prepared to cover your eyes.

If that sounds a bit too unnerving, jam out and get creative with Sound Shapes — which is also available on PS3 and PS Vita. Sound Shapes revolves around musical platforming, fantastic visuals, and a powerful level creator.

Rounding out the PS4 offering for this month is Stealth Inc. 2: A Game of Clones, which is also available on PS3 and PS Vita.This puzzle platformer tasks you with escaping a dangerous research facility in which death is readily distributed to your hapless clones.

Also, joining the August lineup are God of War Ascension (PS3) and CastleStorm (PS3, PS Vita), ensuring that you have plenty of gaming to keep you busy this month.

These games are available to PS Plus members starting on Tuesday next week. Enjoy!

    Limbo….again? Really?

    Can’t say I’m overly excited for anything this month, but they could be decent time wasters for a day or two. Was hoping at least ONE of the indies coming out on the fourth (of which there are FOUR coming out) might be free, but alas.

    Nice to see Ascension on the PS3 in there.

    But considering Xbox had Black Flag last month, you seriously couldn’t throw Knack up on there already Sony? It’s been nearly two years, you can’t possibly be selling that many copies of the thing still.

    Lets never forget, these games (and every game we get access to each month) and NOT FREE. We’ve all payed a membership fee to have access to them. Millions of us have… So, those who are unhappy with this months line-up are not necessarily unhappy about receiving FREE games, they’re unhappy about not receiving what they perceive to be value for their money. I can understand that. And, if we don’t let them voice their opinion we may all find ourselves feeling the exact same way they do. Unsatisfied with the value we’re getting for our money. I for one don’t want that. #psnmember

      How much value do you expect out of $50 when you get 24 games a year for 1 system, 48 games for 2 systems if you got or 72 games for 3 systems if got all 3 ps4, ps3, Vita

      So a little education here:

      Now just focusing on the games and not counting the other features of PS+ such as online play, uploading saves to online storage, etc. here is what you pay for. (This is going under the assumption of a $50 1 year membership.)

      $50/12 months = $4.16 a month, $4.16/6 games = $0.69 per game a month

      So yea its not free, but its pretty damn close.

      @ HaHaHyEnA not going to count 1GB of online storage per system as a boon of Plus we can get upto 50 GB for free just about anywhere possible more not going to count online play for ps4 as boon either at least until it is up more than say riot’s league of legend or any other f2p server.

      of course, you focus on the only part on my statement that didnt matter and complained about it and not focused on the meat of my argument, thats called avoidance :) and what i calculated didnt include any of that stuff so yea, its still cheap.

    Great line-up!

    Already own, and beat Limbo por PS3 and Vita, might do it again for PS4.

    I got tired really fast of GoW Ascension, never beat it, the worst of the series so no surprise that it’s being included here.

    Good lineup though I already own half. Has anybody else noticed that almost all games published by Curve have ended up being part of PS Plus(Thomas was Alone, Proteus, Stealth Inc, Titan Attacks, Mouse Craft, The Swapper)? Now add Stealth 2 to that list. I wonder how long it will take for Ultratron and The Swindle to join. Speaking of The Swindle, it is great, but I digress.

    My playstation was stolen about 8 or 9 months ago aaaaand the police station held on to it for about 7 months before giving it back. When it first got stolen I called playstation plus to see if they would freeze it until i could get it back and they did. Im just wondering how to get it back on? If I have to Ill just pay for it again. i just wanted to check though because I am on disability and have a limited income.Thank you

    Worst line up in my PS+ history. It’s like looking for edible corn in barf. Ho hum, better luck next month perhaps…

    If anyone hasn’t tried last month’s Rocket League, get on it, my kids (and their friends) are lapping it up. A real gem.

    Yet another crap month in a long line of crap months. The only game that I have even a passing interest in is the tomb raider but I don’t have a ps4.

    I wish it was The 2013 Tomb Raider Reboot instead of this one. I would be excited for God of War Ascension but I unfortunately don’t have PS3.

    Don’t really like side scrolling platformers, the market is saturated with them, and they rarely bring anything new to the genre besides pretty graphics, so this month is pretty bad for me. The Vita has a huge backlog of JRPGs, how about giving us some of those every once in a while, to break up the indie platformers.

    Wow! I didn’t think we’d be getting Tomb Raider: Temple of Osiris! I have wanted that game, since it was announced, but I’m pretty broke, so I haven’t gotten it, yet. I love local co-op! My girlfriend and I are both gamers, so we love to play through campaigns together. I wish more games would do that. I’m also really excited about sound shapes. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. Castle Storm looks interesting, I liked the announcement trailer. Did I mention that I’m pumped for Temple of Osiris? Because I am!!

    You already gave limbo last year for vita. I already own GOWA, Temple of Osiris looks boring, Everything else looks meh. I’ve been a loyal PS Plus member for two and a half years, and all I can think is how much the service was better before the launch of PS4. Don’t get me wrong, I think indie games as a concept is great, but I’m sick and tired of indies that no one cares about. I’m fine with some obscurity, but why do we get Mousecraft instead of Shovel Knight? The highlight of July 2015 was Rocket League, everything else was meh. Highlight of this month, NOTHING. Your really testing my faithfulness to the service this year and I’m sick and tired of it. I don’t expect every month that I’ll like every game, but this month has given me NOTHING. It becomes more clear every month that now because you force PS4 users to have PS Plus to play online, you don’t have to win service members through the games you provide. The only reason the IGC still exists, is because it’s an obligation at this point. The service I once loved and praised is now an utterly disgraceful disappointment.

    Yeah, The only way i was determined to download and play Tomb Raider: Temple of Osiris after Square-Enix’s exclusivity shenanigans with the reboot sequel (which ended blowing into a PR disaster) was either waiting for a .99 cents Flash sale or waiting for the game to be FREE for Plus members, whichever came first…..and Free it is :)

    meh. i don’t get why they have these top-down tomb raider games, the reboot was great. and i’m calling this a weak line up because GoW Ascension is the only major title on there, and it’s 2 1/2 years old and i feel like a lot of people (including myself) already have it. and i could’ve sworn i’ve already seen Limbo on the list, as well as the first Stealth Inc (those poor guys are never gonna make any money). c’mon, give me something that’ll convince me to buy a ps4 already.

      really, by this point the PS3 games should all/mostly be major releases from the past several years that people might not have picked up, and probably aren’t planning on it. if you want to bring some interest to certain franchises, you’re going about it all wrong.

    We had limbo already for vita once already, are you serious? God of war ascension? That game had mediocre reviews and you choose that one? That game isn’t even a good starting point for people interested in getting into God of War. You pick soundshapes and limbo over maybe Knack or Killzone:Shadow fall or maybe even infamous: second son? I got to hand it to you, though. Making people pay to play online was a smart move. If PS4 had free online I would just let my ps plus subscription expire because your line-ups for the year have been overall trash. Nothing but pretentious indie hipster games. You had a few good ones every few months(like rocket league this month and MGS: ground zeroes from June) but they were few and far between

      Limbo WAS free on Vita, but the game doesn’t support cross buy. Am I excited to get it again? Not really. God of War Ascension had MUCH better than mediocre reviews (it has a Metacritic score of 80!)

    Can’t say I was expecting certain games, but what is here is fine.

    I liked the last Lara Croft game, so I’m going to give it a try.

    Can I put in a good word for some more RPG games on PS+. It seems like forever since one has graced its presence on PS+.

    Are you guys just rubbing our faces into it since we aren’t getting tomb raider for another year… Kind of low really.

    Also I already have sounds shapes for free from plus why the repeat?

    Finally ok line up… Might play limbo I like the visuals but nothing exciting.

    Ps glad metal gear was free last 2 months ago since I would have been pissed I paid for in since I beat it in 98 minutes. Totally worth the free demo static not a 30$ price tag of a demo.

      I don’t recall Sound Shapes having EVER been free with Plus. I think it was in a Flash sale for VERY cheap, so maybe you picked it up then?

    Lara Croft looks good but don’t know about the others that much. I already have sound shapes and Castlestorm god of war might be fun. Was really hoping for RE6 I guess we will never get that game.
