The Drop: New PlayStation Games for 5/5/2015
The Drop

With new weapons, new enemies to fight, and a new mission, B.J. Blazkowicz returns to PlayStation this week in Wolfenstein: The Old Blood — a standalone expansion coming to PS4.

The Old Blood, set largely before the events of Wolfenstein: The New Order, once again follows the hardened soldier Blazkowicz in the year 1946 as he continues to fight against the Nazi war machine. The Old Blood spans eight chapters of interconnected narrative, featuring new, devastating weapons (and new enemies to use them on). If you couldn’t get enough of MachineGames’ visually arresting shooter, now’s your chance to dig back in.

Speaking of “digging back in,” Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition is out this week on PS4. Stalk the lands of blood and shadow as the ranger Talion, wielding weapons both human and ethereal in a massive, open-world adventure. And in the world of entertainment, PlayStation Store has music from Mumford & Sons, and new movies including Jupiter Ascending and Blackhat.

For a full list of games coming to PlayStation this week, read on. And enjoy The Drop!

  • So… we get nothing for free?

  • I miss PS3 demos and PS Plus Trials.

  • I’m really glad to see Syberia II is coming to PlayStation. I played through the first, years ago on PC and it is one of the best and most engrossing adventure games I have ever played. I own the second, but I never got around to playing it since I have just never been a big fan of PC gaming. I may pick this up on PS3, but I find it extremely disappointing that this game won’t be releasing on PS4, considering it’s a year and a half old now. I only hope that PS4 ports are planned for both games and that cross-buy will be available.

  • Syberia and Syberia II are excellent, played and beat multiple times on the PC. I was going to pick up Syberia on the PS3 back when it came out because it supports Remote Play with the PSP/Vita, but was disappointed that it is $5 more than the X-Box360 version. I hope there is a sale on it soon and I would like to see Siberia II have Remote Play as well.

  • So when can we preorder Ultra Street Fighter IV (PS4)? Don’t you want my money?

  • Shadow of Mordor GoTY (one of my favorite games of all time), Wolfenstein old blood and Arcade Archives City Connection all in the same week?!

Your driving me and my family into the poor house Sony!

  • No love for PSVITA on this one…

  • @ iamtylerdurden1

It wasn’t the worst-looking game ever or anything, but they could’ve upgraded the textures for PS4 regardless of it being cross-platform since that usually doesn’t stop other devs from upgrading. The game would’ve looked 10 times better had they done that. Maybe they did it this time for WTOB. We’ll see. Luckily, WTNO was a great game and the graphics didn’t effect that, although the moon level looked great as did many of the swimming parts.

  • Meh week. Hope the sale include some awesome games.

@Sony why cant PS Vita play all PSOne classics? Why isnt Crash/Spyro etc playable? That so lame.

  • HugoStiglitz_420

@46 YOU SOUND LIKE ME. I have the same complaints about digital games, and the PS4. My internet is slow but even if it was, retail discs install so much faster it’s crazy that Europe gets The Old Blood on retail but we don’t.

I really hope someday we can install games to external hard drives because otherwise I’m gonna run out of space and I HATE deleting games. I really despise it but I’m already basically at the limit with the PS4. I have 1.5 TB in my PS4, and it’s almost full. I also don’t want to try that Nyko thing that lets you put in 3.5″ HDD’s because I think it’s ugly as hell.

Also totally agreed about the patches, the patches should be separated from the base game data.

  • HugoStiglitz_420

@57 another ridiculous thing about the PS One “classics” is it doesn’t even include the best selling game on PS1, Gran Turismo. Makes no sense not to have Gran Turismo on the PS1 classics and the PS2 classics

  • @59 Yeah. no GT and no Ape Escape, both owned by Sony, pretty lame.

  • my360broke_again

now that The Old Blood is coming out can we please put the regular Wolfenstien on sale. I beat it and sold it… and now really want to play though it again in the hardest dif level.

  • I would like to know why they have not made a bruce lee game for the ps4 i feel that if they did it would sell like hotcakes and also why not come out with a better blade the vampire hunter game i think that would be cool too!!!! Can any developer make this dream come true!!!

  • Oh and also a better version of costantine for ps4 thank you!!!

  • Syberia II is an interesting entry for the PS3. It’s a pretty old game – I played maybe halfway through (after finishing Syberia) on the PC before I got sidetracked and lost my place, and that was probably at least ten years ago. Might be interesting to pick up if the price isn’t outrageous.

Beautiful artwork for the time, hopefully they have a nice HD render for the PS3. Shouldn’t be much to make the graphics engine work hard – it’s mostly a slow-paced game, with a lot of going from point A to B to C to A to D to talk to characters and pick up objects and shuffle things around (somewhat like the TellTale games). If you like the genre, it’s a solid entry with an interesting story.

  • “This is Cave. PRIME. So apparently there’s an alternate dimension Cave Johnson who just uses the word chariots for no reason. From now on, I’ll say chariots twice if it’s me. If you hear just one chariot, that’s an alternate Cave. Chariot chariot.”

  • Ether One sounds interesting… just such a pity it’s first person.

This month is pretty dry the whole way through sadly.

  • HugoStiglitz_420

@63 No. You don’t like it? Maybe next time don’t throw away a game like its a disposable fork or something. If you want to replay it, you should’ve held onto it for that reason

  • I’m glad I didn’t buy Mordor before, will save a good cash getting that GOTY edition.Looking forward to play The Old Blood but I still need to play the main game 1st and Chariot looks nice. Also wanna try out Ether One since its free this month.

  • @ 69 HugoStiglitz_420 – Well said.

  • I’m only an hour or so into “The New Order” and I was very underwhelmed by the graphics, gameplay and clunky controls. (especially after just completing the brilliantly made TLOU Remastered) Did they improve the graphcs for “The Old Order”? It looks more next-gen from the pictures I’ve seen.

  • Man, you guys at Sony *really* don’t give a damn about the PSV, huh~?

  • Uhh, Any info on Project Cars? It’s available for pre-order on the Europe PSN but not North America? I guess if it doesn’t show up tomorrow, i’ll be forced to pre-order from gamestop ugh.

  • I would be cool to have the developers listed in the description. also saga frontier ps1 port would be a dream come true

  • younginflavor18

I bet this Drop will be an interesting one because of the lineup.

  • Ryan i have a question to you. I recently started to use again my ps3 but after the last update on the OS i can´t connect to PSN. Any ideas? I want to download again my games but i really can´t login and i´ve tried all.

    PD: Good update this week.

  • ImAPirateSoSueMe

I hope that because Shadow of Mordor: GOTY is releasing today for $49.99, that you guys lower the price of the $64.99 Premium Edition, or even just remove it.

  • I have the season pass for MK X and still cant find and/or download and play as Jason.

  • So what about Project Cars pre-order still not showing up on NA PSN one week prior to release? The question has been asked countless time but never answered.

  • Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor clocks in at over 39GBs! Are you kidding me? Digital downloads is not a viable way to dispense games for the future and neither is “renting them via streaming”!

  • Where is Project Cars Digital edition for US?

  • I am in Canada and I have also been wondering why Project Cars is not on the North American store, especially when it is on the Xbox store. I am now considering purchasing it for the PC instead.
