We are amazed and very grateful for the way in which the community has embraced Bloodborne. As you may have seen, we’ve just announced that Bloodborne has now sold through over one million copies worldwide. Thank you to everyone who has supported the project!
We also wanted to provide more information regarding the next patch for Bloodborne.
As we confirmed previously, the 1.03 update seeks to reduce certain load times in addition to performance optimizations. The patch also resolves an issue that resulted in abnormal game behavior after many continuous hours of play. Additional fixes will be included as well.
The team is currently working towards a global release of the 1.03 patch before the end of the month. We will try to provide more specific timing as soon as we are able.
We’re continuing to monitor popular communities and forums for feedback, in addition to the comments below, so please share any other issues or questions you may have.
Please note: online play will need to be disabled for a short period of time to facilitate server-side updates. In this case, and in the case of any future server maintenance downtime, it has been determined that starting at 1am PT on a non-Friday weeknight will disrupt the fewest players. We will target this time for any necessary future server maintenance downtime, which will only last a couple hours in each instance.
On behalf of the Bloodborne development team, thank you for your ongoing passion and support.
Network Issues for Certain users
If you are having trouble accessing online features, please check your NAT type and ensure proper ports on your network are open.
How to check your NAT type
Please check your NAT type by following these steps on your PS4.
PS4 Home Menu -> Settings -> Network -> View Connection Status -> NAT Type
Check whether it is Type 1, Type 2 or Type 3.
Online functionality may be restricted when playing under NAT Type 3.
Opening ports / Port Forwarding

Port number required to connect to PSN:
- TCP: 80, 443, 3478, 3479, 3480, 5223, 8080
- UDP: 3478, 3479, 3658
Port number required to connect Bloodborne’s online servers:
- TCP: 18671, 20443

Please check your network hub or contact your provider for more details.
*If you are unsure of your network environment, please either refer to your network hub manual or contact your internet service provider.
This game has both, a framerate problem (where the framerate is dropping below 30fps) and a framepacing problem (where the frames aren’t being rendered in the proper order). I sincerely hope these “performance optimizations” at the very least gets rid of the frame pacing problem. Also, what’s this talk of “seeks to reduce certain load times” . Certain load times? Uh oh, that doesn’t sound like all of them. Please don’t let us down, especially since we still have to wait til the end of the month for it.
Looks like waiting for a patch, and working through my backlog, paid off. Looking forward to delving into it later this year.
The online matchmaking is still taking too long even with the port fowarding. Sometimes it takes 10 minutes or more to find the other player. Im trying to play co-op with my brother (same network as me) and everytime someone dies we have to wait 10 or more minutes to summon again. There is something very broken with the matchmaking. Please fix it.
Hoou 1 million already?…thats impressive.Congratulations…I can’t wait to get my hands on Bloodborne…but its too soon for me.Also glad to see support for it and hope Bloodborne sells even more.
Yamagiwa-san, it seems obvious that it’s not the matchmaking that is broken, it’s the using of passwords to match with a specific targeted person. As I attested, I have co-oped with randoms probably 100 times already, and have no trouble getting summoned by random hosts using both local and worldwide options.
It’s in the password system. Please concentrate your efforts there.
congratulations I really enjoyed your titles but screwing up invasions for the carebears casual ruined this game.
Thank you for providing us with such an amazing game!
Funny how these corporate asses blame the consumer everytime. We all know From and especially Scamco bandai did a terrible job on connectivity in Dark Souls 1 and 2. They tried to fix it later on after tons of (valid) complaints. Now with BB again they screwed up. And then blaming it on the consumer end, saying it’s their connection. Bullcrap.
Hi fellow hunter’s im having problem with abhorrent beat in NG+,despite my 125 level that thing is just to berserk/imune to stagger, any tip?(Besides the boring and unfair shoot and run gun stragtegy)
Good prey slaughtering to all =)
By the way, what a coincidence find you here lisatsunami, played with you yesterday…that shadow of yharnam…last second omg rsrsrsrs
@60, MrMojo, I co-oped with you yesterday? Were you a host or helper? I’ve done that fight about 20 times at least. Did we succeed? I finally figured out my best weapons for that fight are the plus 6 threaded cane for when things get hectic, and the Hunter’s Ax is good when I can take time to line up a shot.
I’ll check my Player’s Met and look for your PSN ID.
Few technical issues here and there but for the mostpart Bloodborne was extremely polished. Masterpiece of a game. Loving it.
Would be great if they could smooth out the framerate in Yhar’gul Chapel. And definitely looking forward to them fixing the memory leak because I end up playing this game for hours and hours.
Those Defiled Chalice Dungeons were a real challenge. And I love all the accessibility/gameplay changes with regain. Makes it much more enjoyable to play while still keeping the risk reward gameplay intact.
BRING ON THE DLC after the fixes!
Congrats on the success!! I love this game. It was a much needed break from DS2. Keep up the good work.
A DLC would be great. I hope it’s in the works.
My only problems with bloodborne is the loading times and I’ve got suck in the environment many times. Some times the environment disappears and I can see the outer world around me.
Other then that this is a truly great game.
Keep up the good work. Love Demon Souls, Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2 and now Bloodborne. You guys are awesome. Keep continue to release blockbuster hits.
The elevator leading to Ebriates in the lumenflower gardens is stuck at the bottom for one of my characters due to my resonant bell being discovered as I called it up.
This is locking me out of the Ebriates fight in my world.
Thanks for reading and good luck with the patches.
@65, oh, wow, thanks for the warning. I never thought of that because I have used an elevator after ringing the resonant bell. I’ll be more careful now.
Hey, everyone, just a helpful tip for all Souls’ games: yes, there is no do-over because no manual saves and the game will save your horrendous mistakes.
HOWEVER, we all have Plus. Save your game to the cloud after every session. Then if something goes wrong the next time, you can download the cloud save. All you’ll lose is any progress you made since that save.
I don’t know about USB saves. Anybody know about that?
So far the only issue I have encountered was when I was playing sometimes the game started to run sticky when I would make my character run fast. Other than that the game has been working perfectly fine and this is by far the best PS4 title I have ever played!!! Congratulations on the sales!! This game well deserves it!!
Congrats on the milestone,it’s well deserved..
Just wondered if a fix in the works for the busted physique types in the character creator. Seems whatever body type you choose, very burly for example,is reset to a skinny/default body upon restarting your game after exiting..
Really hoping it’s sorted. Want to start an all strength build but with a bit of beef to my guy lol,but i’m holding out hoping for it to be patched first.
Cheers.
Eileen the crow did not appear in my game. Please fix the bug which she does not appear in your game. I have to start new game+ to get her gear now.
Some suggestions I’d like to see considered:
1: More Consistent Matchmaking – It’s fine that the system is supposed to be obtuse, but please help it at least work more consistently once the steps are followed.
2: Photo Mode – Possibly only for Offline Mode, but it could be a great touch. Bloodborne has a ton of great screenshot possibilities, but removing the UI and other distractions would be greatly appreciated.
3: Potential Expansion – A Hunter pack (Hopefully free, but I wouldn’t complain if it costed extra) unlocking bow weapons and a full beast transformation, possibly with some extra areas or a side-story. It makes sense thematically for the Hunters to have some kind of bow weapon to hunt with, and the currently discovered use for the Beasthood stat is… Disappointing, to say the least.
@69, Eileen the Crow didn’t appear at all? Did you bust through the half-hidden door in the warehouse, then through the other half-hidden door to the balcony where she starts?
You have to do that early in the game, I did it after killing Cleric Beast (which I later found out was just optional) and before Father Gascoigne.
Then, for her second appearance, you have to get all the gates leading to Cathedral Ward open. I did not buy the badge thingie to open the gate. Too cheap to spend the 10K echoes. I opened it manually by fighting my way through the area to get to it. That appearance unlocks her “quest”.
Since you guys are reading the comments, I only have one short thing to say:
Bravo!
This is the best game I’ve played since The Last of Us.
It is a masterclass in proper level design and world-building, standing upon a foundation of nearly-flawless gameplay.
If you continue to make games the way that you do, From Software will become a household name in games.
That is all.

Remove insight cost for ringing a bell, instead make it so you lose insight on death to an invader, at the very least make it so it can be rung with no insight
I actually didnt even really mind the load times much with my SSD. Cant wait to see how fast they get with the patch AND the ssd.
In terms of balance if you could lower the cost of the Old Hunter Bone, Tiny Tonitrus and A Call Beyond, I think I would use them more. I would even go so far as to make the old hunter bone only cost like 1 bullet at it’s current 12sec duration. Or make it still cost 6 bullets but be infinite duration. Perhaps make the duration of this item scale with your arcane stat!
When trinkets cost 6 and 8 bullets they just weren’t as efficient as sticking with the executioner gloves at 3 bullets. That’s alot of potential parrys you give up. That said, this type of build works great with the rune that gives bullets back when you get visceral attacks.
I went with a pure arcane build towards the end of the game and tried to find as many places to use the trinkets as I could. Tiny Tonitrus was great against the packs of kin at least. But I always felt like I was wasting bullets using the “A Call Beyond” item except for maybe against a pack of rats or spiders.
A rune that would lower bullet cost would be a nice addition maybe but id just lower the cost of the 6-8 bullet trinkets a little bit.
Please, please fix the elevator glitch before Ebriates. I’m waiting to finish the game until I can defeat this boss. You can increase load times for all I care, I just want to be able to access all of the content as intended.
@ Rhimenocerous Insight system works fine. You get insight all over the place so i don’t know why youre worried about it. Plus you get more insight helping other people kill bosses.
If you need help clearing an area, its to your benefit that you lose insight because it makes the game easier. And without spending an insight to do coop it remove the risk/reward that the game is based around.
There could possibly be an item similar to the shaman bone blade that invaders can use to take your insight but it should be a very slow attack that theyd have to use cleverly to be able to take insight similar to the item in demons souls.
But insight does not need any change. There would be much less reason to collect insight if you couldnt spend it.
For players having trouble summoning friends with the password system:
– The cooperator should ring the Small Resonant Bell 15-30 sec. before the potential host rings the Beckoning Bell. I’ve tested this with two friends (one that lives close to me and one that lives in another country) multiple times, and every time would be connected virtually instantaneously. Our wait times went from 1-8 minutes to 3-15 seconds.
Of course, make sure the password is very unique and that each player is in close proximity to one another.
Please, try it and let me know if it improves your experience.
When would be a good time to purchase this game? Seems like it is still in testing and needing some work.
Never buy day1!
Will this patch or a future one fix the missing textures that are scattered throughout the levels? I’ve been capturing them when I find them and posting them on my YouTube channel, not to make fun of but just to bring to the developers attention. Plus, it does break my immersion when playing and seeing an area not rendered at all so I hope they will address these while they are fixing those other bugs/glitches. So far the main areas of noticed the textures missing are in Cainhurst Castle and Hemwick Charnel Lane.
Congratulations, an awesome game, best I have played in years. Can’t wait to see the next Bloodborne game.
Awsome news.Still need to get me a copy.
Elevators seem to be a popular glitch. Not just the optional boss, but shortcuts too. Mine is the elevator right next to the lamp at the forbidden forest. I even went all the way around and I’m not able to step on the button. I walk over it, but it doesn’t depress. Neither switch is operable. I feel like it should be a simple fix that they can make that is included in the long reloading of the level every time you enter it. That the elevators reset to original position and they know if you used them before.
Heya, is there any chance to implement custom keybinds into any of the souls games from now on? I am so used to having O as confirm/talk and X to dodge (X thanks to all the hunting games ive played + DMC games) and now im suddenly forced to have X as confirm/talk and O to dodge. It shouldn’t be something too hard to implement in a patch, but it would definitely improve my experience with the game. I do not want to get used to this new control scheme as it would hamper my own muscle memory with other games and will be a hassle when i switch between hunting games and bloodborne (will drop bloodborne altogether if i had to choose between them).
it is really frustrating that people actually like this game. this game has a SERIOUS difficulty issue that needs to be addressed.
Please, patch in common consumables with low value like throwing knives to restock upon death. I have a stack of 90 back in the dream, with only 50 seconds of loading between me and them.
Glad to see the game sold well. However, I’m pretty desperate for a fix for the elevator glitch where certain elevators stop working in game completely (coop does not fix as the elevator ceases to work completely). This is especially problematic for me on a certain optional boss that is the last boss i have left before new game plus, since the only access point is one of these bugged elevators. Please fix this issue as this has basically stopped all of my progress outside chalice dungeons and will eventually make it so i cannot progress there either. Otherwise loving the game.
FROM you gotta fix the PvP. I have played all souls games, I even imported Demon´s souls from Japan and I still love the PvE but now is more about the PvP for me and I don´t get how is possible that we have these connection issues in 2015 with the PS4. The idea of the short ritual is nice to invade but MAKE IT WORK!. Our money is there, do your part. I would get sued with no question if someone pays me and I leave in the middle of a surgery or don´t close everything correctly. So, pls fix the connection issues.
—————AND PLEASE: introduce an item to invade the old way in a DLC, that would make us all happy as ****.——————–
@10: The Order is a great game. The vast majority of people like you have never played the game. And no, “not liking” something doesn’t make it “****”.
@10: The Order is a great game. The vast majority of people like you have never played the game. And no, “not liking” something doesn’t make it “bad”. [said something else in my moderated comment, don’t feel like waiting to see if it does or doesn’t appear later]
To a Million!
One million strong, and growing
Eileen the Crow BUG is resolved? She doesn’t appear to a lot of Players in Cathedral Ward, even after opening all gates.
Fix Ebrietta’s elevator glitch!!!! I cant fight that Boss because the lever is stuck and the elevator is at the bottom! A lot Of people is having this issue, just type in Google: ebrietta elevator glitch and you’ll see.
Faster load times are nice and all, but i seriously hope they fix the elevator glitch so I can actually defeat the Celestial Emissary. Ive been waiting patiently and this elevator/switch is totally bugged/broken. This is my biggest complaint. Dont let me down.
Congratulations! Huge success for a new IP. GO PS4!
Congratulations! Very well deserved in my opinion. I know I bought the digital version the moment I could.
Looking forward to the patch, thanks for the hard work
Congrats on the sells and only Problem i had was i missed talking to Eileen the Crow at the first place she is and she disappeared from my game completely until NG+.
I really like the games. The the amount of polygons being pushed in the environment is astonishing. The only thing that i find troublesome is the chromatic aberration vignette. It causes eye fatigue if you look anywhere besides the center of the screen an option to turn this off is desperately needed. I hope you let us turn this off besides let that 1080p beauty shine.
Will you be fixing the Ebrietas elevator glitch? I hope so as I cannot get to this boss. Many other also have this annoying issue!
Amazing game but please fix the elevator glitches. They seem to happen when you get summoned well on the elevator down or using the hunters mark. I can’t get to ebrietes because of this.
