Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Revealed for PS4

Hello PlayStation Nation! I’m Jean-Francois Dugas, Executive Game Director at Eidos-Montréal. Eight years ago, we set out to revive the Deus Ex franchise, which held a very special place in my heart both as a gamer and a developer. In 2011, after a lot of love and effort was put into it, we released Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the very first game to be created at our studio. It was a terrific achievement for us, and we were more than ready to take the series to the next level.

Today, we are extremely proud and excited to present you with the announcement trailer for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, which is coming soon to PS4. Switch off the lights, turn up the volume and make sure to watch it in full screen and 1080p!

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Revealed for PS4

We’ve had the pleasure of working in collaboration with Square Enix’s Visual Works studio for this trailer, to introduce the setting of Mankind Divided. The game takes place in 2029, two years after the events of Human Revolution and the infamous ‘Aug Incident’ in Panchaea, which ended the golden era of human augmentation. These terrible events scarred the world and caused augmented people to be segregated and deemed as outcasts.

Mankind Divided also sees the return of Adam Jensen as our main character, who is now a counter-terrorism agent playing by his own rules. Equipped with all new augmentations, Jensen will travel across the world to unravel a vast conspiracy involving secret organizations, which are working behind the scenes in an attempt to control the fate of mankind.

  • Looks amazing. Never played the other Deus Ex games but I always wanted to get into them.

  • Awesome. Can’t wait although I guess I have too. Seriously, is it out yet?

  • This is exactly what I have been wanting since I wrapped up DE:HR. Is the trailer indicative of some of the new augs Jensen will have? This is automatically my most anticipated game of the generation so far. Cant wait to see more.

  • I asked for this!

  • I really enjoyed playing the last game, this will be a no brainer day 1 for me…!

  • doesnt look like my kind of game. not interested

  • The trailer makes it look like it has more Arkham type combat that RPG elements. If so, fine by me. Looking good.

  • It’s really cool that the actual executive producer is taking time to answer questions about this game.

Anyways what you guys did with Deus Ex: HR was as close to perfect as I could have imagined for a proper Deus Ex sequel, you guys nailed it, great story and character (I was hoping to continue Jensen’s story again rather than a completely new character), completely immersive world, and gameplay that gives players as many options as possible to succeed. I’ve played it and listened to all the developer logs. And the issues it had I’m sure you guys will have learned to avoid in the sequel.

Anyways good luck, Deus Ex: HR was my favorite game of last generation, and I want it to win that personal sentiment for this generation.

  • So hyped for this! HR was one of my favorite games of last gen.

  • Also, for the team member from Eidos-Montreal: Can you reveal right now which ending from HR is going to be used as canon? Hopefully not to give any big spoilers away, but it would be pretty hard to continue some of those threads.

  • Does this mean it will come to iOS too, like before?

I haven’t played a Deus Ex game since it came out on the original Xbox. Hope there will be light sabers :)

Do you guys happen to have a trailer that shows actual gameplay?

CG isnt for everyone. Thanks for sharing.

    • Jean-Francois Dugas

Mankind Divided comes on current-gen platforms as announced. It is not an iOS game.

For gameplay, it will happen eventually – now, the focus is on the announcement and the trailer. Like we like say: please, be excited! ;)

  • @60

No single ending from HR is canon. It sounds instead like elements of each one are being brought forward to create the “canon” ending, and the place from which you begin Mankind Divided.

What terrific news to come home to! Thank you Jean-Francois!

  • Great movie trailer. Wonder what the game will be like.

  • Merci Eidos Montréal!!! Merci!!! I loved human revolution!!! My favorite video game story ever. And now a brilliant sequel!!! Thank you!!!

  • First of all, I’m extremely glad that you sir, Jean-Francois, came here to the PS blog to make this post, giving us the opportunity to give you feedback.

That being said, I must be honest and admit that I was not sure that HR would have a sequel. That’s why my exciment was much bigger when I found out about Mankind Divided.

I really, really loved Human Revolution. It is one of the best games that the Instant Game Collection has given me so far. I’ve played it 4 times in a row and platted it. I loved it so much that I bought a physical copy of HR Director’s Cut.

Like many others, HR is one of my favourite games of last generation. What can I say, I’m really really happy about this, it’ll be a day one purchase for me. I’m so glad that we’re taking control of Adam again, and continuing his story. The video is awesome, I’ve watched a couple of times. Can’t wait to see more about the game, even more to actually play it.

Thank you. I trust that this game will be even better than the previous one.

  • I came…

I played the first and HR.

  • So excited to see more Adam Jensen! Looking forward to this!

To all of the people that are saying that ps4 can’t run this just remember the progress that Xbox 360 and ps3 made in the almost 10 years span that the console was prevalent

  • is it an exclusive or multi-platform (excluding pc)?

  • Love Deus Ex with a passion and was really excited once I found out Mankind Divided was actually a thing. Can’t wait for it to come out and the trailer definitely made me hyped, so hyped that I decided to re-play Human Revolution again on PC. On a side note, I love the local talent making such amazing games. Being born and raised in Montréal, Québec, I’m super proud to have such amazing companies producing such amazing games for me and others to enjoy. Mérci bèaucoup pour c’est jeux-vidéo et J’aime toi Eidos Montréal!

  • FINALLY a PS4 game to be excited for! I loved Human Revolution. I actually started out with the intention of not killing anyone, but then I thought “What’s the point of all these great weapons if I don’t use them?” so I changed my playstyle. Such a gorgeous game too. No other game has had me stop what I was doing and admire the scenery as much as HR. Even at the very start of the game, walking through the hallways with that intense, epic, movie-quality music playing, I was invested.
So glad to hear that we won’t see the same issues with boss fights again. They really felt disconnected from the game. TBH, I don’t think a game like this needs bosses, but if you do have them this time around I’m sure they’ll be great. Thank you for providing us with something worth playing. There’s so much samey garbage out there and so many yearly franchises that I’ve been feeling like this generation is a dud. It may still be a dud, but at least we’ll have this gem.

  • @45 – WHY in the world should that matter? Just because you are gay you need gay characters in a game? If there aren’t any, does that mean you won’t want to play it? With many people, you will never know their preference when it comes to that. There could be many gay people in the game and there would be no indication. But maybe you want the characters to be stereotypically flamboyant or state their orientation so you’ll know for certain and enjoy the game more? Holy crap, dude. It’s just a game. You can imagine the characters as whatever you want them to be.

  • I love the icarus imagery.

“It’s not the end of the world, but you can see it from here”
    HYPE IS REAAAAL!

  • SOLD! Had a blast with HR on ps3, I’m sure it will be the improved version of it. Absolutely day 1 for me!!

  • The previous one was good. I played the game using just stealth and not hurting many people because billion of other games does the exact opposite .

  • After watching this for the fifteenth time I will now begin my hundredth play through of human revolution directors cut. Thanks for bring Jensen back guys. Question is will anyone else be making a comeback? I want to hear pritchard’s sarcastic voice again!

  • Loved HR, so I am very excited about this.

Even better, JFD said that they won’t repeat the Energy System from HR (my biggest personal issue with that game).
You know, how you kinda were punished for keeping your energy cells charged beyond the one that always recharges, and only charged them when you needed more. It also won’t be like the DC version, with two recharging cells.

    So… can’t wait :D

  • Picking at the black race anymore like you did with that jigaboo Letitia ? Racist Company

  • Got Human Revolution a while ago, still playing that one.. But this…this looks amazing! :)
Offtopic a bit.. There’s a classic game from Eidos (don’t know if Montreal studio specifically) that I would love so much to see getting a reboot.. SOUL REAVER..
Please eidos.. Some good new game (not talking about Nosgoth, just not worth the series) from that series would please so many fans.

  • It’s safe to say. I’m truly salivating for this game right now.

  • I never really go into HR. It wasn’t an experience thing. I really enjoyed the first few missions given to me. It boils down to already seeing gameplay completion. Luckily, I won’t be 2 years late to the party for this one. Sitting high up on my list of must buys.

  • Espero que la nueva entrega de Deus Ex sea igual de buena que el anterior , ya que Human Revolution fue uno de los mejores juegos que pude jugar

  • Any chance of a Vita version of Deus Ex The Fall?
And will there be anymore novels like The Icarus Effect?

  • Viva la revolucion and deus ex

  • I have to admit, this is one game that I can definitely say is showing promise of having a lot of originality! I am actually excited to play this! Will I play on PS4, probably not since the PC is almost finished, but damn this looks pretty epic :D

  • Hey there, congrats of the announcement. I was blown out of my seat when I saw the trailer l’m glad you guys are making the sequel to the best game I’ve played. But I have one question is Jonathan Jacques-Belletete still there? I ask because I meet him at an event held buy my company a few years back before the release of deus ex: human revolution. He was one bad ass dude. I remembered he let me play the demo at the event, had a long chat with him about the style and direction of the game. He was so excited about the release of the game. Anyways be I go off praising the man, I’m gonna end this with something silly can I beta test this awesome game?

    • Jean-Francois Dugas

The core crew is still pretty much there so JJB is still around and he’s still crazy about art in general and for Deus Ex.

  • Hmm, is the antagonist and setting take place in Eastern Europe? Just wondering because it’s a underutilized setting that hasn’t been touched since GTAIV (the protagonist was Eastern European).

Ako jeste, ljepo je vidjet malo reprenzentacije, nema veze ako su losi, lol.

  • Awesome news! I really enjoyed the last Deus Ex game, especially the semi-open environments, and the different ways of approaching situations. The whole aesthetic reminded me of Blade Runner, a movie which I love. Really looking forward to this new installment in the franchise.

  • They should make a new game plus mode on this one

  • They should make a new game plus mode on this one And if they do a remastered one add that too it

  • Sorry im late but i’ve waited along time for this game. it’s been 4 years and let me tell you Deus Ex Human Revolution is one of the best Action RPG’s i have ever played. i played the game like 4 times to get all endings ^.^

  • This is probably the best news I’ve heard all year. After playing Human Revolution about a dozen times, I am definitely ready for more Jensen in my life! And now there will be a game worth buying a PS4 for. Most excellent!

  • Thanks for making another deus ex game, pretty excited for it :P

  • The trailer seems great. Never played a Deus ex game before I might play it.

  • After finding out about the new Deus Ex and remember I still haven’t beaten Human Revolution I remembered it is on PS Now but I’m not sure what version it is… Is it the Director’s Cut? Does it include the DLC?

  • You can easily access your preferred power options.

  • I loved Human Revolution, so this is a day one purchase for me. :)
