While developing the PlayStation 4 system, our hardware and software teams relied on feedback from our community of developers. The result is the most innovative and forward-thinking gaming console in the market today. Since launch, PlayStation has continued that trend of listening to feedback by bringing some of the most highly requested features from the PlayStation Nation to PS4 with each of our system software updates. When we unveiled PS4 two years ago, we announced Suspend/Resume, a feature that would enable PS4 users to jump in and out of their games faster than ever. This has been a feature gamers have been excited about since then, and today I am honored to officially confirm that system software update 2.50, “Yukimura,” will soon deliver Suspend/Resume, as well as a number of other requested features to PS4.
Suspend/Resume, which will be supported by nearly all PS4 titles, will create an atmosphere where your games are immediately available at any time — just pick up your DualShock 4 wireless controller, hit the PS button and get right back into the action of your games. When it’s time to log off, simply put your PS4 in Rest Mode and when you power up the next time, you’ll start your game where you left off. Spend less time getting into your games and more time playing them.
Here are some of the other highly requested new features and changes coming soon in “Yukimura:”
- Sub-account to Master account Upgrade: Users with a sub-account will now be able to upgrade to a master account directly from their PS4 when they turn 18, removing restrictions for chat, enabling users to fund their own wallet, make purchases and more. Currently, users can upgrade their sub-accounts online at https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/.
- Facebook Friend Search: Gamers globally have jumped into PS4 as a redefined social gaming experience and connecting with friends over the network is a huge part of what makes the PS4 community so special. PlayStation now lets you go even bigger by connecting with your Facebook friends on PS4 using your linked account. Search for Facebook friends who are PlayStation Network members and build on the foundation of Friends you already have in your list.
- Remote Play & Share Play at 60 fps: For games that support 60 fps, the ability to customize the frame rate of Remote Play and Share Play will be added with “Yukimura.” Play to your bandwidth strengths and use this option to stream gameplay at 60 or 30 fps when using Remote Play or Share Play on supported devices.
- Accessibility Options: “Yukimura” introduces a wide variety of options to make their PS4 entertainment experience even more accessible. Options include text to speech, enlarged text, bolder fonts, higher contrast UI, zoom for displayed pictures, invert colors on screen and more. Users will also be able to reassign buttons for DualShock 4, making it easier for users with limited manual dexterity or limited reach and strength to play.
- Trophy Improvements: We have received a ton of feedback to improve Trophies. In “Yukimura,” a screenshot will automatically be captured at the moment a Trophy is earned, making it easier than ever for you to share your greatest gaming moments with your friends. We’re also adding more sorting options along with the new ability to remove games from the Trophy list that have 0% completion.
- Share Video Clips to Dailymotion: When sharing standout PS4 moments via the Share button on DualShock 4, “Yukimura” will allow players to upload directly to Dailymotion.

How come the US PSN store has 192 themes up, and on PSN UK store has got only 15 themes.. what’s going on with that? the PSN store sucks in the UK.. there’s no avatar’s no proper deals on games.. I think most of us don’t care about your fancy update.. most of that, what you put in the new update, most will never use… and the stuff we really need, never made its way in anyway.. its a joke and you know it.. SORT IT OUT..
Under adjust devices when you hold the Playstation button. Output to headphones should have a all audio and play just volume of game through tv. That way people can enjoy listening through headphones and have people be able to hear the game volume through tv. Chat in headset not through tv. Maybe add both for chat to come out tv too? That would be pretty awesome.
this update isn’t what i want but that’s ok its an update of sorts. But id like to see an update for streaming/recording. Here is my thoughts. It would be nice if we could record for a longer period like instead of last 15 min maybe an hour would be nice and the video doesn’t need to be an hour i just mean like continuous recording up to an hour or something along the line of continuous recording. Streaming hmmmm since I mostly use twitch id like to see some streaming changes like banning and timing out people an option twitch has but cant do through PlayStation. There is other things that can be changed to im sure and I probably could go through what it needs but im sure you guys are thinking up something. Share factory, your video editing software. Hmmm while better than Microsofts own windows movie maker in my opinion it still needs work. id like to see a whole wide assortment of things to do to my vids. I wish it was like sony vegas a very nice program i hear about all the time and seems to be the best one of all types of video editing programs out there. All in all i wish to see a lot of changes to video stuff at some point.
I don’t understand why we can’t delete the trophies we don’t want. This obviously bothers some people including myself, I’ve read all the reasons why they don’t etc. The demand keeps growing for it from what I’ve seen on forums, if people have to ask me why I would want to delete trophies I’m not going to try to explain it. I’ve seen people try on the forums and either it falls on deaf ears or they get made fun of. So, Sony if you’re seeing this please consider it. It would be a feature that I would pay for even. Money talks right???

How about cd support? And saving music to the ps4 hard drive? Miss those features especially now that you can listen to music while playing any game….
My problem is Remote Play… I have tested this feature on many types of average internets I used to connect to my PS4 from my phone to play my games from the ps4 to my phone but the connectivity has to be amazing just to get the best experience which is not that fair for average internet customers. Having it on Standard Quality is still not good enough, my point is please try to make it work as great as it possibly can on slower internet or even average. Internet gets busy and it’s totally harder to even use my phone as a screen for my ps4.xperia Z3….

I would love the feature where I can see what DLC or direct link to stores game page by pressing down on the XBL on the games icon without having to search in store. Maybe even notifications on specials/discounts.
I would very much like to see the return of a useful feature from the PS3 days: The ability to sort my friends list by “last seen” date. I still don’t understand why this wasn’t carried over to PS4.

K. Got a few things.
1. Can we please separate the PS3 friends from PS4 friends on the PS4 friends list? Maybe make them a different color in the friends list?
2. If we suspend one app and go to another, can we make it show the current app instead of the suspended one?
3. Can we have the ability to not show as online? My wife and I both use the PS4 and when we are watching Netflix, Hulu, etc., it would be nice to just select an “Incognito Mode” to stay off the radar.
I would really love for you guys to allow chat to be recorded with video clips. Dont know how many awesome moments are wasted because only my voice was recorded. It cant be that difficult. I shouldnt need to “Broadcast” in order to have everyone in the video.
The ability to turn off certain notifications from some people would be awesome as well. Cant tell you how annoying it is to have that one guy that joins a party chat ever 10 seconds. I dont want to turn off the notification altogether as There are some friends I would like to know are joining chat. ESPECIALLY as it is the only way currently to inform people you/they have joined online.

As a disabled gamer with muscular dystrophy, I welcome the ability to reassign buttons!
What if instead of only removing the “0%” trophies, you could remove anything below 5%? That means you didn’t like that game and you’ll never play it again and maybe you want it removed from you library.
Also, organizing you library into a folder on the main screen may be a good idea. And having the chance to remove games from your library as well.
Simple ideas, that could really improve the experience!
Looks like Xbox One is going to include its own remote play feature with Windows 10 streaming, which would be compelling if it works. So improve on the remote play functionality. Add remote play support for maybe Windows, Mac, iOS, or all Android phones with an app, whether paid or free of charge. If streaming is the future, the ability to play over 4G connection would be a selling point.
All that is fine and dandy however, what’s up with Bluetooth? Is it a requirement now that if you want to use a Bluetooth headset with the ps4 you have to go out and buy one that was made specifically for it? I can connect any one of my many bluetooth headsets to my ps3, but the ps4 won’t do it.
The one thing I love about update 2.50 is 0% trophy deletion but gamers should also be able to delete games out of our trophy list that have unobtainable trophies , are no longer supported online and the platinum can no longer be achieved .
Here is an idea for a future firmware update . I suggest that ps4 get a new page added to all profiles that gamers can set to be viewed by ALL or Friends . The dev team can call this page whatever they want BIO page or About Me page . This page will function like this , it is a giant comment box with the capacity of 300 words and allows spacing vertically and horizontal , spacing does not count as a word or character and should not allow offensive comments . Only the profile owner can post in it . This will allow clan leaders to post clan rules, guidelines , recruitment guidelines , online behavior guidelines . This would be a good way to let people know not to send you blank friend requests or invites and always message first before inviting . One could post the type of gamer they are and the type of games they like or prefer , they could post dates and times for play sessions .
I have not taken the time to read every comment and do not know if this has been touched on extensively or not. The “Name Change” feature is not only a much needed addition to PlayStation, it is an outright must have. The fact that it has not been implemented yet is astonishing. Yes I have done my research and understand why it is so complicated, however that is no excuse. It should be a feature. In all honestly it is the only feature I care about at this point. I could care less about any of these new features Sony is adding. Many of my friends feel the exact same.
There are so many people waiting for this feature that you could start off charging $29.99 for the name change feature and Sony would probably be shocked at how many people would pay that amount without any qualms. You could then take that money and invest it back into creating and maintaining your own network. The day Sony stops using the absolute worthless Cisco maintained network, implements name changes, and a few other features, will be the day that I believe Sony PlayStation will take its rightful place on the podium for good. Standing proud looking down on Microsoft Xbox.
What a joke just got the ps4 and my xbox one has had all these and a heap more features forever. We can’t even stream movies from pc. Even the PS3 had this feature. Very disapointed in this sytem

Gamers should be able to go into Avatars on ps4 and in the list see Avatars that we have purchased on ps3 . Stop requiring facebook to use ps4 features , not everybody has facebook account .
The ability to change our online ID is far over due . Sony’s excuse for not doing it , is not acceptable . Sony has had a problem with grieffing since the beginning , Letting gamers change there online ID is not going to change that , but you know what will ? The ship load of money Sony will make by charging $10.00 each time you change your online ID , this money could go towards solving the grief issue and building a better network .

Being able to remove a trophy card that is at zero-percent is a GREAT start. I would love to see that increased, however. There are some games that start directly with unavoidable tutorial missions that unlock a trophy upon completion. It would be great to have the option for removing these games as well.
I’m not sure if this has been requested before but…you see, I’m not really a fan of “Rest Mode” and I never really leave the PS4 on standby, unless I really want to download something and it just hit me right now, can we get an option under downloads like “Shutdown after download complete”?, kinda like a checkbox next to or below the download progress bar?
I would love to be able to delete certain items from my library that are no longer on my hard drive such as betas and demos. Are there any plans to allow users to do this in the future?

I know this is probably pretty much immaterial to you, but the the only thing I don’t like about PlayStation is I can’t change my user name. Its a stupid request I know but is there anyway you can add the ability to change it?
Firstly, I’d like to say Thank You for not only following up on past promises( that even I, an avid PS fan, forgot), but also for being so close to your fanbase.
1. I would REALLY like PSone/PS2 backwards compatibility. Even if buggy. Even if through digital download only( though 10+ years from PS2, and 20 years from PSone, I’d really think that popping in a disc would work fine like on a PC emulator…but that’s besides the point really). It’s my top feature that I miss when using the PS4. I just upgraded to 4 last month, but I still have my PS3 and PS2 (which is on death’s door) next to it, for the sake of PSone and PS2 compatibility.
2. I would like a Vita software update, if you have anything to do with that OS, that adds real names to the friends list and the option to appear online on non-Vita friends lists.
3. I think it’d also be cool if you look into alternate ways of displaying/searching for content in one’s library. As my library is quickly expanding, I think it’d be good for the long run to have a way of quickly searching a title up from my home screen. Just a spark for an idea.
“Most…forward-thinking gaming console in the market today.” That’s what the PS4 is? My complaint, as a PS4 owner since launch, is that thinking so far forward, you forgot where you came from.
Finally, we were given themes. We still don’t have avatars. PS4 doesn’t support external HDD. No media support – even the most fundamental of Blu-ray players can play CDs as well as an assortment of video formats. We have no way of knowing if or friends have logged on or off without interrupting our activity. There are basics that have been ignored that have proven successful in PS3.
Don’t misunderstand – your “community of developers” have done AMAZING work fixing the shortcomings of the previous generation of hardware: background installations/updates, simultaneous multi-user login, an increase in system responsiveness (the PS4 is so much faster than the PS3 that it is ludicrous! LUDICROUS SPEED!), a cleaner UI. All of these make the PS4 an incredible piece of hardware. And your future plans seem bright. But what about your community of users? What about what we want to see added?

Cool update. But i was wondering, could it possible – in a future update – add the option to delete the install data of games? Disc space is precious now in days but it is a tediously long process to install, update and download dlc. At least with that option we can manage our hard drive space a lot better. Especially for people with big libraries of games.
Me and my brother play a lot of co-op games together.
But cause the games arnt very cheap and we arnt rich we buy them by splitting the cost on my account
Now he has my account as primary on his console and i havent and every now and then with the maintenance all my content of my ps4 get a lock and i can’t play anything

Is there any upgrade to the party chats? ie: more people on the party chat? Atleast 12 or 16. At least giveus the option to how many people we want on the party chat? Our clan have the problem that most of the tine we have almost 12-14 people playing Destiny and sometimes we coordinate or we request help while on the chat, and we have a lot of fun playing and talking together. We know each other for almost 7 years and we met on the PSN, now we are real life very close friends and its unconfortable to left anyone outside the party chat. We have been forced to use skype on our phones just to be all of us together. Is there anything on the update or maybe a future update with that?
Sony has announced a new status page for playstation network online status , could you guys make this an app for ps4 ?
I would like to listen to music I already own on my ps4 uncompressed , I would like to store it in my hard drive and make playlists . The ps4 only has 2 USB ports which is not enough . Stop wasting time with these third party subscription based music services , I already own a pile of music I am not going to pay somebody so I can listen to it , or join just so I can buy music I already own .
Custom soundtrack is a free feature on ps3 , on PS4 all plus members should get free access to the custom soundtrack feature .

What I would give to get rid of the wires from the controller to the headset!! So basic. I don’t use headphones..I use the chat headset and the wires are ridiculous. I need to be able to hear outside of headphones. PLEASE BRING BACK BLUETOOTH.
What about headset Support! I’m not mad I’m just getting tired of waiting I have purched a px51 headset that is supposed to be wireless but the ps4 cannot see my headset in bluetooth discovery mode because the ps4 have Bluetooth limitations, don’t get me wrong the audio is great wirelessly but in order to talk with others I am forced to plug it in to the controller and turn the audio for my diveces from chat to all witch makes them sound very very bad. I would love to hear back but I will still always be a fie hard Sony fan.
Please add ps3 feature where it tells the last time someone was online. Sometimes people don’t be on for months and I wanna be able to delete them for friends who actually play.

PS how about giving us the option of getting rid of all or any cont of the XMB that we neither want nor use. For example on the PS3 we had the sing-star thing forced upon us, and I had zero interest in it, but was NOT able to delete the icon! Why can’t we get rid of things we do not want or use, this way we can have a lice tidy XMB with just the things we want and use.

Finally I can remove those 0% games off my list! But if you can implement that feature, surely you can also give us the feature to delete any amount of trophies off our list. I wouldn’t mind going down a few levels if it means finally getting rid of the Simpsons Arcad with 28% ugh. It isn’t gamebreaking, it is our account afterall and should manage it as we’d like.
Also, I hope to see the ability to change our psn ids someday. Xbox has it and their first name change is FREE after that you just pay a fee. You guys could do the same thing and be rolling in money with the amount of people wanting to change their ids. Why can’t the PS4 do this :(
