Super Stardust Ultra Launching on PS4 February 10th

Hello again, everyone. Following up on my post announcing that Super Stardust Ultra was coming to PS4 (which you can read here), it gives me great pleasure to let you all know that it will be available to download next week on February 10th. I can also confirm that Super Stardust Ultra supports 3D at full 60 frames per second! We think this is something that you’ll want to show to friends and family, it really does add an extra dimension to an already unique and great looking game.

Super Stardust Ultra is packed with incredible depth and variety, from five newly designed planets and other visual enhancements, to nine different single-player game modes. Some of which are brand new, only on PS4.

One of these modes is Blockade. As if blasting through hazardous meteor storms or fighting off enemy spacecraft wasn’t difficult enough, you now have to avoid an endless trail of deadly mines that are continually dropped from the back of your Star fighter. The twist however is that everything else on the planet is also destroyed if it makes contact with the mines, so they can be used to your advantage and timing your bombs or boost is critical to staying alive.

If you think you have the skills, then check out Interactive Streaming which not only allows you to broadcast your gameplay but also opens up your world, allowing your viewers to decide what happens next. The vote can range from a full onslaught of chaos, to a much needed helpful care package….you have been warned.

Super Stardust Ultra

There’s always plenty to achieve in Super Stardust Ultra, whether you are hunting Trophies in pursuit of the Platinum, or blasting your way to the top of the global leader boards. Competing against friends has never been easier, whether sending direct challenges or playing 2-4 player local split-screen battles — even teaming up in co-op mode.

All this will be available on PlayStation Store for $12.99; PS Plus subscribers will receive an additional 20% discount for a period of 1 week after launch, so make sure to pick up Super Stardust Ultra next week!

  • On the one hand a $5-8 dollar upgrade option for those that have a Super Stardust HD game would be nice.

On the other hand it’s a great game, tons of fun, and will (assumed here) only be better on the PS4 look better, be crisper, etc…

Cross-buy makes gamers feel appreciated. “Hey thanks for the support, we don’t care what you play it on, just enjoy it!” sort of thing.

Then again you guys end up throwing everything on the PS+ at some point it feels like, so maybe I’ll just give you the $10 because quite frankly I don’t know how the hell you guys feed yourselves with PS Plus money.

I bought Dead Nation, loved getting the PS4 version for free, bought Superstardust HD for the trophy patch, and I understand where the cross-buy desire comes from, it’s nice to be appreciated, and cross-buy feels like appreciation. I’m sure this will come on for Plus eventually, but, if I can afford it, I’ll probably buy it for the $10 release week just because I’m not quite sure how you guys feed yourselves sometimes.

  • Also, as a side note, I think people will see the detail, and the 60fps, live, on their home console, (provided there’s a demo) and get sucked in all over again.

Sometimes gameplay videos don’t do it… 30FPS video rendering isn’t the same as playing it, in its glory.

  • Not the same game as Vita, it is an enhanced port. I don’t mind buying this when I already own the original PS Vita version. The user making the Minecraft comparison: the PS Vita and PS4 versions of that are nearly identical ports (differing only in map size). There are 5 new levels and much more, in this. I wouldn’t mind a discount, but it isn’t expensive (especially if you’re PS+).

  • Can I ask why US customers get a 20% discount for PS Plus but this doesn’t happen in the UK? And also, since when does $12.99 = £9.99?

  • Why isn’t this out in Asia?? Logging into psn & thought I could buy it but it’s not there.

  • Can’t believe all the complaints! Gamers are never happy, I suppose. As a Sony customer from the very beginning, and now a proud owner of a new PS4, I am totally stoked on the upgraded last-gen games being released on next-gen consoles. I absolutely loved Super Stardust HD on PS3, and this reboot — with new game modes, upgraded planet designs, and a streaming option — looks to be one of the best reboots to date. Factor in the PS+ discount, and we are getting a stellar, beautiful game for a measly ten bucks! I think that’s awesome. If you don’t, just don’t buy it. Simple as that.

  • Awesome. Would not have purchased it without 3D support.

  • I am buying this to support the Stereoscopic 3D, as I own this game on PS3 already. If it weren’t for the 3D being added, I would not need another version of it. But, my PS4 needs to have games with proper depth and only Stereoscopic 3D support can bring that depth. Thanks for bringing us the goods. Now, we need patches for Killzone, Bloodborne, inFamous games etc.. with 3D support!

  • I love the game, had it on the PS3 and got it again for the PS4. I’d love to stream but my broadband is pants, but I am making youtube guides for it if you wanna check out: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLph9DjilnV4xjRJf-i2TRNP8P1QM2VtJq
It’s ace in 3D on a big TV, and the best arcade game around. Reminds me of the old days….
