“Inside The Show” News Suite

Franchise, RTTS, and Season modes all feature a new suite of features centered on providing news updates from around the league. Inside The Show is a new radio broadcast that will be heard at the beginning of each new day and will discuss recent scores, notable performances, team news, milestones, records, standings, and more. In addition, the new League Updates panel, found in season based modes, gives the user a quick snapshot of updates from around the League so you don’t have to dig through multiple screens to get the basics.

As you can see, our goal this year was to build off the solid foundation of MLB 14 and expand on the game we love to make MLB 15 The Show the best baseball game ever made.

  • For some reason I can’t see all of the comments so Idk if it’s been asked, but will there be an option for you to challenge a call and have the umpires look at the instant replay?

  • Have been waiting for this since East Bound and Down Season 1… Do we FINALLY get to put a rockin’ mullet on our RTTS player so I can make an authentic Kenny Powers??

Players had them in the game last year but you couldn’t create a player with one- horribly frustrating. Looking forward to everything else

  • I know the past few entries work on Playstation TV, but will this one be compatible with Playstation TV as well?

  • Just fix the online, it was soooo laggy last year.

  • Game looks great! I’ve noticed the last couple years (it seems as though its a glitch) where there will be a lazy fly ball where the outfielder is usually on the run and the outfielder will just miss it. I can understand it happening randomly but it would happen almost once a game which obviously is not realistic. I hope that will be fixed.

“Sorry it’s the same as last year. What type of upgrades would you like to see?”

Thanks for answering! I’d love to be able to use the broadcast cameras used in the presentation to put together highlight clips and share/post. I find the actual tv cameras used in game look extremely realistic… and it would cut down on edit time if we could switch between them during replay editing. Thanks again – Looking forward to The Show this year.

  • Well the game have official minor-league stadium is like the Portland Sea dogs Hadlock Field?

  • Any news if the renovations at Progressive Field and Wrigley Field will be included?

  • Love all of the graphical enhancements, but I would like more dynamic reactions to players on the field, in the dugout and crowd AI. Like when you hit a no doubt homer, the crowd AI should start standing up and cheering immediately. The dugout should be going wild. If it’s a cheap homerun you can have the crowd slowly rise in anticipation and then react when it lands.

Same for pitchers when it’s a final strikeout the crowd should go wild but be relatively silent and motionless beforehand.

Dynamic progression in careers for pitchers would be great. If a reliever is really good having the ability to become a stater and if a starter isn’t so good starting has the option to switch to reliever.

    Maybe 2016 :(

  • First – so why no online for Vita?
Second – why no physical card this time? If you can go digital only, why not include more features for this version?

  • I wish you could edit (jersey number, shoes, facial hair, batting stance) other players in RTTS like you can in Franchise Mode. It would be nice if those two modes were somehow combined. I like controlling my player, but still would like to make decisions about my team, such as lineup, trades, and other things.

  • I love MLB the Show! Will the network issues be fixed?

  • In Franchise Mode, will we be able to sign players to minor league deals, and be able to invite them to spring training?

  • Oh and one more. More contractual options like opt out clauses.

  • Will Citifield have the fences moved in like they did this offseason?

  • Do we have the option to build our own stadium? Kinda like it was on MVP Baseball 2007. I remember one of the guys who makes this game said it would be an option for this years game.

  • Although these improvements and additions sound fantastic and I’m excited to see the series expand on the ps4, are you guys focusing on development for online improvements? Perhaps dedicated servers would be a welcome addition… It seems every year the online lag and connection issues are always a deal breaker. Hope this year is better…

  • Very little mention of online. Last year going to dedicated servers on the PS4 was an improvement, but still had a ways to go. Are you saving online additions (and online league additions) for a later date… or did you guys not focus much on improving it since I’m sure it’s one the lesser used features.

  • All sounds very exciting!!! Have the crowds been updated this year? My only gripe with The Show 14 was the crowds were very twitchy, they couldn’t sit still!!

  • The new features sound great, but no mention of online fixes for MLB 15? VERY disappointing.
MLB 14 online, even on PS4, is a nearly unplayable mess of lag, player warping, and game breaking glitches/freezes. Any word from devs on fixes for online?

    • Improving online has been a priority for us the entire development cycle. Ultimately you need to play it to see the improvements and we will be working until code lock at improving the experience.

  • Sweet hope graphics are a lot better on ps4. Good job adding more and more features that’s gotta be hard

  • can we create our own expansion team and or our own parks?

  • Last years game (PS4) was fun….But online was a terrible mess had 4 friends with the game and half the time we were not even seeing the same thing. Cant buy this at launch ill have to wait and see reviews of the online post launch. Beware guys/gals

  • two things: The bullpen in franchise mode has been a problem for years. I pitch certain relievers in a game and then the next game the rest isn’t correct! It isn’t until the very next game that it’s correct. This kind of changes around from game to game where sometimes it’s correct. I battle with this every game. Also, a day off doesn’t seem to count for starters. They may get rest but when a start is coming up the day off doesn’t seem to count in the 5 man rotation? Everytime a starter is ready to go on 4 days rest but never starts the next game after a day off! You can move starters around in franchise but in RTTS I don’t get to do that.

Other thing: How about you let US create our own stadiums!? I would love to design my own for my team. I did play one game a long time ago where I created a crazy park! 40 foot walls that were deep at the poles, go really shallow at left and right center and deep again to CF with only 5 foot walls. What a blast that was to watch!

  • Ramone is doing work in the comments section! Feels good to be listened to. I’m a very detailed person, as is MLB The Show, but one thing I always have wanted was rain outs and double-headers. I know this would tick people off, but in Franchise mode, let’s say you’re playing a game and it starts to pour. If you’re losing, maybe you slow play the game, try and get it delayed or canceled like Mike Hargrove did to Cleveland when he was managing Seattle. I love the randomness and the thrill of trying to fit in a game due to weather.

  • I agree with Sub-Zero I will wait to hear reviews of online play before I buy as well.

  • Will there be an online co-op franchise? Where you or another owner can play as a team, either both together cooperatively, or one or the other whenever able.

  • Hello…

Will there be ceremonial first pitches?

  • I play with the Braves and only the Braves ever since the first baseball video game. We will probably suck this year, so can you please boost our ratings up a little so I wont get beat too bad during online play. lol! BTW, will the online play issues be fixed this year?

  • Hopefully your still answering. Please tell me the Green Monster will be fully functional this year. I.E. updated live scores during regular season, accurate, divisional standings,balls/strikes etc.

  • Hello Russell, I was wondering if the Wrigley video boards will be included in this years game?

  • And one more question, with super prospects like Kris Bryant still probably gonna be in minors at the beginning of the year but he will definaetly be playing in the MLB at some point of the 2015 season, will his character still be in the game??

    • If he’s not on an MLB roster by our roster lock date and approved by the MLBPA and MLB he won’t be included in release version of the game.

  • Cool updates and can’t wait until Feb 5th for the reveal, but my question Ramone is this……will this year’s game have the actual local broadcasters commentary voiced in for the home games of your team ?

  • Will the PS4 version still feature the remote play option for the PS TV and PS Vita?

  • Russell- can you please fix AT&T parks center field wall its 399 not 393…….. its very annoying when playing home games…..i cant wait for this mlb 15 the show……peace

  • #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T #FIXAT&T SORRY FOR THE SPAN I JUST WANT TO BE HERD ON A VARY DOABLE FIX……MLB 15 THE SHOW IS GOING TO BE AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Really looking forward to this year’s edition. Has the in-game commentary been tweaked at all? During the past few years it has become very repetitive.

  • Please tell me that Vita created faces are finally edit-able??? In every Vita version of the show, the ability to edit faces is broken. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.. Also no swollen faces!

  • Dear Ramone, first off, I want to say that you do a great job on this game each year. However, I really wish that you and the devs would acknowledge minor league prospects. I’m not asking for you to add ALL of the minor league players. Of course that’d be a ridiculous request, but in a day in baseball where there’s such a huge premium on young talent, I think you should add the so-called “mega prospects” that are inevitably going to be called up this year. Chris Bryant, Corey Seager, Joc Pederson, Mark Appel, Noah Syndergaard, etc. Maybe you could add detailed player models of the top 50 prospects in the game, as well as batting stances, pitching motions, possibly even home run swings too. Every year, the best prospects get called up and contribute a ton to their teams, and it’s very frustrating not being able to play with them. It’s unsatisfying to play with a generic face that doesn’t accurately represent a player. Anyway, if you’d respond to this and let me know what you think, I’d be ecstatic. Thanks Ramone.

    • We don’t have the rights to players until they’ve played an MLB game and have gone through the appropriate approval process(es) with the MLB PA.

Once we have the PA’s approval, we add them.

Again, it’s not our decision. We aren’t withholding players just “because.”
It’s not up to us to decide who is in the game. We have a list of players from the PA that are approved for us to use. If they’re not on the list, they’re not in the game.

You can always check out the roster vault and see what the community has put up!

  • Also, there’s no reason why international signings and Cuban Defectors shouldn’t be on the opening day roster. Every year they get signed in the winter and they almost always contribute hugely to their teams. Last year, Jose Abreu and Masahiro Tanaka were two of the elite players in baseball, and it sucked that they weren’t in the game. This year, Rusney Castillo, Yasmany Tomas and Jung Ho Kang have already signed with their teams and they’re going to make appearances in Spring Training, so I don’t understand why they couldn’t be added in the game. I really hope they are. Let me know. Thanks.

  • will ballpark village be included to busch stadium this year?

  • Gotta few questions:
So as for online, right? Is there a default difficulty for ranked games (preferably ‘Legend’)? Is guess pitch in ranked matches off by default as well? What about quick counts, is that off by default too? Is the check swing glitch finally fixed, where EVERY opponent I played used a check swing every time they felt the need to lay off a pitch that they were skeptical about? I probably got more. If I do, I’ll ask.

  • please answer!! when will you have create a stadium as a feature??

  • Hey Ramone and everyone at SCEA!

SO excited for all the improvements! can’t wait to get this game!!!! I was wondering if Rivalry Mode would be making a comeback to MLB 15 THE SHOW. I appreciate all the time and hard work you guys put into this game. Thank you.
(Been a fan since the 989 days)

  • Sad to hear about the lack of retro stadiums but the flapless helmets and the low stirrups will be awesome to use with community retro rosters.

Is there ANY chance that retro stadiums might be available later for a fee as downloadable content?

Also, why are the retro rosters once again absent from the PS4 version? Is it a rights thing?

  • I forgot to ask before, but in last years game players like Dee Gordon, Ichiro, Billy Hamilton and a crew others that I can’t think of off the top of my head, when they swung the bat it looked like they were lunging at the ball and then slapping at the ball and kind of corkscrewed their upper bodies. I don’t know if this was a glitch or something else bug I tried to change different things like their stance, and stats such as their power or contact stats with nothing working. Just wondering if anyone else knew what I’m talking about or experienced this themselves, and also wondering if it. Will be fixed for The Show 15

  • So a player has to play a regular season game for the MLB PA to give you rights to them? Spring Training doesn’t count? That’s really unfortunate. I can’t fault you guys though. Thanks for your response! Can’t wait for the game!

  • will MLB 15 The Show be playstation move compatible?

  • This series is the absolute #1 reason why I buy Sony systems first and foremost and I seriously cannot wait until this years’ game comes out!! I also realize that some people think that most of the new aspects added each year aren’t big enough to warrant a new purchase every year, but to a diehard baseball fan like myself, it is often the little changes that add up that makes this series the best baseball sim experience ever imo.

  • ^^^^continued^^^^

Though if there is one thing that I think needs to be improved upon, it is what the 6th poster mentioned… the grass & dirt textures. It says in this article that both the grass & dirt look better this year on the PS4, so I’m hoping that is indeed the case as I don’t think it would be that difficult to make the grass/field look as good as, for example, the pitch in FIFA 15. FIFA’s grass and the wear & tear it shows over time is perhaps the best I’ve seen in a game and I would hope it wouldn’t be too hard to replicate that effect in this years’ The Show 15. Even last years’ game on the PS4. despite how much I loved it overall, had such sub par grass & dirt textures that it would sometimes pull me out of the experience (again especially after seeing what FIFA did with their grass).

Other than that though, I can’t say enough about how much I’ve loved this series over the years!! March cannot come soon enough!
