This sounds like a nice idea but the store is broken. When you go online and try to build a cart of items and you get to Grim Fandango and select pre-order (there isn’t an add to cart option) it autobuys the game and you are screwed out of the option of adding it to your cart.
What’s really pathetic about this whole thing is the fact that the Sony blog staff don’t seem to have any clue how their store works. You’ve got Sid posting responses yesterday telling people that they can use this code for pre-orders when it’s obvious to anyone who’s ever clicked the PreOrder button that the store doesn’t support the use discount codes for pre-orders. And yet, Mr. “For the Gamers” Social Media guy has no clue, how shocking.
Then Sid comes along and edits all his “yes you can” responses to say “no you can’t”. He doesn’t actually apologize, because Sony doesn’t apologize, they just pretend things don’t exist. How clueless are these guys? I guess maybe when you don’t have to actually pay for games you sort of lose touch with the experience of actual customers.
This offer is just a bad joke at this point. IMO a large number of people at Sony need a firm smack in the head at this point.

The thing is that people want the freedom to buy freely. My thought is that why have restrictions at all?
It would open up people’s wallet if theyou had the ability to just once a year buy what they wanted.
If you think about. We are almost literally buying air. The digital purchase we make leaves us no physical trophy of a game nor case to go buy. We buy digitally….Air! So why does sony make a fuss about this?
So what people want to buy ps plus for 10% off. It’s air!!! And you know what ps plus for a year for 45 bucks is a great deal. I just can’t wrap my head around why Sony doesn’t want to give a good deal at least once a year.
Give us the freedom to purchase what we want and how we want it. Preorder? Yes please…10% on anything why the f not?
I’m glad I got a gift certificate for for the PSN Store but from now on my money will go to retailers that give me a great deal along wits my physical trophy

Just chiming in to voice my disapproval on excluding pre-orders. Especially after Sony said they were allowable. I was planning on using this code, now I probably won’t.
Can’t use it to extend my Plus subscription. Can’t use on pre-orders. What a **** promotion is this!
Even this official blog doesn’t know exactly how this promotion will work. At first this promotion code would work on pre-orders, now it will not. Maybe there will be some more changes in the next days, making this promotion even worse.
What a great job of customer service. Now I know Sony really did not have to anything and I appreciate them making an attempt by doing this sale. But removing pre-orders and doing this for only 1 weekend and the fact they have been saying numerous times it can be used for pre-orders. Sony you need to get your priorities in order. I mean this is just a hot mess now. I would of just liked the $15 of PSN into my wallet or a code for &15 in case our wallets were full. Anyways said what I had to say. Pissed off that my whole holiday break I could not play and pissed off that this apology is a total joke.

This is total bull****. Not only can we not use the discount on anything we want but we only get a few days to use it. There is hardly anything on the ps store right now.
I am PISSED that they lied about preorders. This whole thing was pretty lame to begin with, but now it’s like spitting in the face of new PS4 owners, My kids’ Christmas was ruined by having to let their PS4 sit like a paperweight for days after the excitement of opening it.
Now all we get is a very worthless 10% off coupon for a few days when there literally is next to nothing on sale for PS4 (while ther is plenty for PS3, but who got one of those for Christmas). So the only thing this was good for was preordering games like Grim Fandango.
God, this is seriously the worst customer relatioms move. And I love how they went back to earlier comments and changed the answer on preorders.

Doesn’t work on pre-orders anymore? Real nice. I was planning on pre-ordering RE Revelations 2, but I guess that plan is out the window. This coupon has no use to me anymore.
Removing the pre-orders after stating they would be included…classy move. Sony didn’t have to do the 10% at all, but shouldn’t said one thing and then backed off on it. Sony, you had been doing everything right since the end of the last gen, I was a hardcore 360 supporter and with the great PS plus deals and freebies and then design of PS4/DS4, I once again prefer my Sony console, but this is garbage. I had a couple pre-orders in mind, but now I won’t be spending a dime, especially since I can get such better deals buying a physical copy. Whether it was your fault or not (prepared or not), you owe people that got a PS4 for the holidays BIG TIME. You knew that a ton of people would get one and should have had something in place to prevent what happened. I get DDOS isn’t something you can just avoid, but for all the people that couldn’t use their system fresh out of the box, you owe them. I myself was cool with the 10%, because it basically just wasted some vacation time I had planned on doing some Destiny, but now you backed off on that for whatever reason. 10% is next to nothing for you, but for many of us gamers, a couple dollars here and there makes a difference in the long run. FAIL.

The thing is, there was never any chance it would work on pre-orders. Widespread ignorance among even the most senior Sony staff is to blame for all of this.
The same person at Sony posted this and the corresponding message on the EU blog, where it was clear from the start that pre-orders were not included. So why not check back on the comments or, gee, I dunno, have a way for us to contact Sony staff directly to tell them when something they’ve posted simply isn’t true? Yes, such a system would invite plenty of spam and expletive-laden rants. But it would also serve to make stuff like this less ridiculous.
It was many hours, perhaps a day or more before the edit was made. In that time, people made all kinds of plans and got their hopes up. Now many of those purchases won’t be made and lots of people are pissed. What was the point? This could all have been fixed in the original post within minutes. “Oops! Sorry, no pre-orders!” Which would have sounded better right away than letting it all sit there like a turd until they got around to it.

Dude can you count? It’s really actually 3 days….. full 72 hours…… even a trained monkey could count it….. 9 am on the 23rd (PST) to the 24th….. 24th to the 25th…… 25th to 9 am on the 26th…….Sheesh, go back to school buddy.

I think this promotion is a joke, but I’m not mad at Sony for it. Microsoft didn’t offer anything. At least Sony tried. I’ll give them credit for that.
Nice one Sony! You people deliberately misled your customers. You said all along that preorders WOULD be eligible for the 10% off, now that it’s imminent you announce that they’re NOT eligible. This is why your company sucks! Never again will I purchase anything digital when physical is an option! I’m really starting to wish I’d gone Xbox this generation! I guess what I’m trying to say is screw you, Sony!
I think I will probably get the Resident Evil HD Remake with this. I was planning on buying it yesterday but why not wait and take 10% off. And people complaining about this a bunch of babies. They really didn’t need to do anything like this. Many services get outages in the world and they just close it down or something like that. All they really needed to do was give the days the PS Plus service was down to the people already paying for the service due to you couldn’t use it. Which they are plus the 10% coupon. People are so greedy in this world.
The day before Sony announced this I bought a season pass. If I knew we would get a discount i would have waited, is there a possibility i’ll get a refund from that old purchase?
Personally, give only 5 day when peoples got trouble to connect on the PSN for more than that is kidda low.

I prefer buy physical disc why ? because they are less expensive that your digital version on PSN store.

Tell that to kids who got a PS4 for Christmas and sat around for days waiting for it to come back up….while MS had there’s pretty much up and running In less than 24 hours. Thankfully, my kids could still play their Xbox 360 for the majority of the break. But still sucks when you give someone a present and say, sorry sucker, you’re going to have to wait to play your new toy.
No, the attack wasn’t Sony’s fault and no Microsoft hasn’t offered a “generous” 10% off coupon. It the PR that was HORRIBLE that Xbox players got much better. Microsoft had people on Twitter answering tweets personally and giving constant updates. Meanwhile, Sony had some robot or monkey typing Im the same crappy message over and over again, just saying they were aware of the problem.
There was a gigantic difference in the way the two companies handled it. One treated their fans like people. The other treated their fans like a mindless herd. That is why I never even questioned MS giving anything out as compensation. It was down a shorter period of time and they handled it like professionals that cared,
And this screw up with the preorder just puts the nail in the coffin of just how bad Sony is about handling their supporters.

At least move the deal back a week so we can all use the ten percent on dying light. I feel like with this move, Sony has soured what little goodwill they regained by announcing the promotion. Disappointing.

Guys, if you read my earlier comments I’m as critical of this as the next person… but the preorder thing was NOT intentional. It was them realizing too late that the way their store work doesn’t support it and not having a workaround. Yes it sucks, but it is not ‘intentionally misleading’. If you want to accuse them of ignorance or of failure to comprehend how the deal would work… you’ve got my support. But the preorder thing just does NOT look like intent to me, it reads ‘oh ****, it doesn’t work that way? Crap! Panic mode!’
You are apologizing for the confusion? There was no confusion. It is clearly stated in the post. It is clearly stated several time in your replies in posts. This is, flat out, a reneging. I had an earlier post thanking you for this 10% code. I am now reneging on the “thank you” with sour taste in my mouth.
