I’m surprised people are comparing psn being out for 5-7 days at MOST with no information compromised, to psn being out for a MONTH with millions of people’s data compromised
To be honest, I have mixed emotions about this whole thing. On one hand, the outage was admittedly an inconvenience, but not an albeit huge one. I was going to play online with my cousin, who lives in another state, on Christmas Day. She called, and we talked on the phone instead, no big thing.
At the same time, however, I find a 10% discount with a three-day ceiling to be. . . insulting. And now, all of a sudden, it isn’t good on pre-orders. Let’s just do the math real quick, shall we: you end up saving a whopping $1 per every $10 spent, big deal! Also, if you notice, very few of the sales this week have extra Plus! discounts attached to them, so Sony is clearly tightening their proverbial purse strings in anticipation of the 10% off. Not only that, but the sales aren’t that great to begin with either.
Still, you could make the argument that Microsoft isn’t giving their customers anything, but it still doesn’t make Sony a beaming example of customer satisfaction. The best that I can possibly say about Sony is that they are the lesser of two evils, and that is saying quite a bit.
Which brings be back to my original point: mixed emotions.

Since we can’t purchase pre-orders anymore, maybe Sony should allow us to buy PS Plus subscriptions (not biased it all, not like my subscription came to an end a week ago *whistles awkwardly*)
Congratulations on going back in what would be the best preorder record of all time… Next time just do as Microsoft and don’t give us anything not even false promises.

Kinda sucks that we only have 3 days to use it, I figured it was going to be a code that I could use whenever so I haven’t bothered saving up any money and was just gonna use the next pay check..oh well, one more reason to start buying my multiplatform games on my Xbox

Come on Playstation. You have to have known how shady this was before you posted this. And it’s just made worse by the fact that you let the comments grow to several pages before you took back the preorder thing.
This week’s sale is suspiciously lacking PS+ discounts, instead opting for mostly regular discounts with only a handful of PS+. You say preorders work, then you take it back, and you make the code only valid for a single weekend?
You didn’t owe us anything for the downtime, it’s in our ToU/EULA, but when you promise someone a chocolate fudge cake and then give them a brownie you already took a bite of, people have a right to be pissed off.
How disappointing it is to see the way that big companies like Sony treat loyal customers like us (You can check our backlogs to see how many games we’ve bought) and you’ll see for sure how loyal we are. We ARE tired of silly indie games that we don’t play. We want REAL games because of the simply reason we give you REAL money. Treat your customers the way the deserve Sony. That’s not so hard to do, is it?
“Thank you for your loyalty.” Uh huh. I just want to know if the person that wrote that did so with a straight face. You show your appreciation with a 10 percent off coupon that is only good for 3 days and excludes pre-orders? This coming after your network was dead and gone for 5 days during the Christmas holiday?! Pathetic. Sony managed to cultivate an image in the face of Microsoft’s recent blunders that they care about the gamers (4thegamers), but this just shows what a sham that really was.
Love how they held off on 10% discount until there was nothing worthwhile on sale

Great! And I was planning to use the code towards PS+ for a year….. But 1 question: If I added PS+ into the cart and a DLC into the cart, only the DLC would be discounted?

I’ve been loyal to sony for years and at least the 10% discount shouldn’t be so limited, the least you could do is to make it available for a couple of months
How am I going to get my 5 day extension?! My Plus ran out yesterday but not going to get chance to renew until Wednesday, does that mean i’m going to miss out due to not having Plus during the time the emails have been sent out?

I feel so cheated that Sony said this applied to pre-orders (which is what most of us would have wanted to us it on!) and now they say it doesn’t apply to them!!
I must say I saw it coming as I have been on the phone with agents all week telling them it was impossible to add pre-orders to a cart in the PS Store thus would make it impossible to redeem a code. Of course many just repeated the lie that some update would correct that and we should have been able to buy pre-orders with the discount…
I love Playstation, but I really feel like my business is unappreciated. Surely I am not the only one who spends hundreds every month buying digital games, and yet we never get any kind of rebate or reward credit. I don’t expect the PS Store to become like Valve any time soon, but a word of advice Sony/Playstation… Integrate some kind of reward system for digital purchases to encourage people like me to keep buying games we know will never be exchangeable. After all you make more money when we buy that way.

Apparently these people have never been involved in their company (or personal life) when something negative happened that they did not expect and then try to apologize without giving away the company in the process.
Wow this sad joke of a sale is so bad that my opinion of sony is actually lower now after seeing it then if I had never seen it at all. It is legitimately worse then nothing to me. I had already forgotten about Sony being down from the ddos attacks and had moved on. My opinion of Sony didn’t drop in the slightest from them being down over Christmas because they were being attacked and were the victim, not the offender. But this “sale” legitimately does lower my opinion of them.
And what makes it even worse as well as ironic is that Xbox fanboys will actually get more use out of this sale then Playstation users because this will prolly be re-brought up for years in all the silly console war arguments. It’s certainly a whole lot worse then a lot of the arguments they already use against Sony lol.
MotherFu$%&’s you just made a huge mistake you already made a statement before about being able to buy preorders and now you back out, leaving thousands of costumers with useless credit wich was purchased only to make preorders with this promotional code which you offer it to your loyal customers, and now you only asking for another attack from another squad, im feel shame for some of the people that made this statement a week ago.. very bad news sony another customer disapointed and the list will keep coming cause word will get out in the games sites and it will be bad advertisement for the hole deal ….YOU´R PROMISES NEED TO BE KEEPT

How Many Things Can I Buy With This Discount Code Frfr?
My 1st thought is… Great this weekend… so what about people who are paid NEXT weekend and not this one… >.> So yea, kinda lil lame there.
Also for everyone who asks about “Vita/psp” and so. It does say you can use the webpage to buy things. Or am I fully mistaken to where I wont be able to buy Suikoden 1 and 2 at 10% off?

dang it, I didnt know it was for a single use, argh that really sucks, I decided to buy and download a game while I took my mother to the zoo, had planned on purchasing more stuff when I got home, only to realize that I couldnt. if I had known it was for a single use I probably would of waited, or lined everything up before hand. also the GOW Ascension DLC bundle was *temporarily removed* I wonder why that is. its bad enough the coupon is vaild for only a couple of days aswell. as it stands, I think im going to lay off purchasing anything more from psn for awhile. which is a shame, I was going to get that, and the ultra street fighter wild costume pack bundle, bioshock 2 additional content, bioshock infinite episode 1 and 2. so yeah, thanks but, oh well I guess. maybe next year, when pretty much all those things should be dirt cheap anyway. (I will however, try the code one last time tomorrow, with or without the GOW bundle) probably wont work, but maybe psn will thank us properly.

And finally, how is that 5 day extension working? I was assuming that it was going to be plugged onto the end of existing Plus memberships, but mine expired on the 21st with no such extension. Does that not kick in until today either? Does it even still happen for me?

Not including preorders renders this compensation useless to me. I have already spent a lot of money on the games that I want that are already available.

Vita is not missing. The code can not be used on the Vita. Add all the items you want on the website and use the code during checkout. Then go on your Vita and download everything.
I believe the code can not be used on the Vita because the Vita is all one item purchases and they are trying to avoid upset customers. I believe that is also why pre-orders were taken off the deal.
