As you probably know, PlayStation Network and some other gaming services were attacked over the holidays with artificially high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. This may have prevented your access to the network and its services over the last few days.

The video game industry has been experiencing high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. Multiple networks, including PSN, have been affected over the last 48 hours. PSN engineers are working hard to restore full network access and online gameplay as quickly as possible.
From time to time there may be disruptions in service due to surges in traffic, but our engineers will be working to restore service as quickly as possible.
If you received a PlayStation console over the holidays and have been unable to log onto the network, know that this problem is temporary and is not caused by your game console. We’ll continue to keep you posted on Twitter at @AskPlayStation and we’ll update this post once the problems subside.

Except this entire time, I’ve been talking about that, not about the attacks.
And it is an implied fault. “it is you” is implying that it is the fault of “you.”
And as I said, some people already went through all the proper steps and can connect to XBL, but not to PSN.
My point being that both are gaming services, not that XBL was faster, but that both are gaming services that claim to be up.
While XBL claims to be up and IS properly up, PSN claims to be up, but is NOT properly up.
You are going off on a completely different subject while I have not changed the subject.
Still waiting Sony…. It has resolved to users helping users now and the people who should be helping us are completely silent. it seems that now they have been able to give some users access to the network they have stopped working on helping the other unfortunate users who are still unable to connect.
My PSN is still down in Chicago area. Any idea of when it will back online?

This is a ****ing joke. Sony is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with in my life. You are making millions of dollars on people’s accounts that they cannot use!!!!! There is no excuse for this. I have multiple Sony electronics. Will never be buying another thing from this company and I hope all the execs get fired.

2 replies out of nearly 2,600 comments by customers……what’s wrong with that picture? This is beyond ridiculous and the fact all the quick fixes thrown out don’t work for all customers. That’s as bad as Chyrsler’s fix for the head unit going out. Remove positive lead from battery and allow to sit for at least 10 minutes. Kid you not it worked!! What is all this ****? Why should anyone have to jump through these hoops to get their system up and running! What’s this I hear about Lizard Squad being paid off? Did that really happen, lifetime membership for free mind you to Megaupload? Unbelievable!!! well this is great got ps4 boxing day and can’t sign in still. Come on Sony give us and answer on when this issue will be fixed
I was abroad during the Lizard Squad attack and came back home yesterday. So basically yesterday i was able to login, but today i’m not. I’ve been told to set a different MTU value in the network settings and i did: nothing solved. I’ve been told by @AskPlaystation on twitter to reboot my PS4: nothing solved. I’ve been told to reboot/unplug both PS4 and my router: nothing solved. I’ve even been told to enter Safe Mode and reset my PS4 to its default settings: nothing solved.
Now it’s been about 24h and i still can’t play online. This is pissing me off, is this the service am i paying for?

It says that the network is back up but yesterday and today i couldnt log in to psn. Some other of my friends are able to log in some cant including me so i just need an answer why i can play with my friends and why my ps+ is being wasted for no reason.
If anyone has an answer please tell me cuz im getting annoyed that im keeping on trying to put my long password in every 15 minutes.

I am from the UK and have recently brought a PS4, I have had nothing but issues with the whole Verification of my email and when I finally got to verify my account I am now unable to sign into my PSN, can you confirm what the hell is going on, this is an absolute joke

Why is it that despite the big message saying that PSN is now up, I’m unable to connect my PS4? And I can’t even contact customer support to trouble shoot. I don’t care what your excuses are. This isn’t right and it’s getting old.
I’ve been waiting for about 5 days and i’m getting real tired of waiting FIX THE PROBLEM ALREADY. I just want to sign up and play with all my friends (which all of them can go online) and i’m just waiting my ass off. I’ve tried changing my MTU, rebooting my system, going to safe mode and restoring the default settings, deleting all my data, power cycling, and calling you guys and my router service provider. Yes I have done other stuff while waiting like going to the mall, spending time with my friends, going outside, exercising, etc… so you can not say that i’m just sitting here whining to psn. It should not take you this long to fix this problem.
I still cant get a solid connection…..every time I try to sign in I get either “The Connection to the Server has been lost” or “Cannot connect to the server within the time limit.” and on the rare occasion that I do get a connection the speed is so slow that its useless anyways……
this is made all the more frustrating by the fact that more than half of my games cannot be played offline……if it weren’t for me getting Dragon Age Inquisition for Christmas my PS4 would be nothing but a $400 paper weight for the last 5 days
People really need to get a hold of themselves. The only complaint I have is the inability to contact anyone at sony but i’m sure their systems are so hammered with complaint calls and complaint chat requests that they don’t have the ability nor man power to handle the massive influx of pissed off people. They got attacked and are working to fix the problem and have announced such. Xbox live has 1/10th the amount of users that the psn has with both ps4 and ps3 users so those who expect the same turn around on the psn as the xbox live are hallucinating. Last I checked psn was free on ps3 so for those without service you are owed nothing there is no inherent guarantee of 24/7 365 psn service with the ps3. Ps 4 users with ps+ subscriptions in the 5 days of the outage you’ve probably paid anywhere from .69 cents to $1 for ps+ time lost yet you want sony to reimburse you in $10-$60 in free games? get realistic. It’s a video game system find out what a real problem is then feel foolish to think you ever complained not being able to play online for a few days. sheesh
Really SONY, I just tried to call you tech support number to get a automated message that basically does no help for me , but try again later. If I was to rate your customer service it would be the worst rating ever, why are you sugar coating the real problem? When I first got my PS4 I never had any issues playing online, now I’m having a hard time to even get access to PSN, and can’t get any customer support. Looks like I’m the idiot thinking that you would be better then MICROSOFT, looks like You win by getting my money, and giving me no real customer support. Shame on me for thinking that you’d be better then MICROSOFT, if I’d knowing this is how things were going to be I’d kept my pre-order for a 1TB XBOX ONE.
Also you should extend all PSN memberships until you fix your servers to be as good or better, whatever comes first…
Is there a MTU I can use that will help me re-new my PSN membership?? I’m using MTU 1450,, does this even make a difference??
