As you probably know, PlayStation Network and some other gaming services were attacked over the holidays with artificially high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. This may have prevented your access to the network and its services over the last few days.

The video game industry has been experiencing high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. Multiple networks, including PSN, have been affected over the last 48 hours. PSN engineers are working hard to restore full network access and online gameplay as quickly as possible.
From time to time there may be disruptions in service due to surges in traffic, but our engineers will be working to restore service as quickly as possible.
If you received a PlayStation console over the holidays and have been unable to log onto the network, know that this problem is temporary and is not caused by your game console. We’ll continue to keep you posted on Twitter at @AskPlayStation and we’ll update this post once the problems subside.

2. Go to Network.
3. Set up Internet Connection.
4. Choose wifi or LAN, whatever you use.
5. Choose CUSTOM.
6. IP Address – Automatic
7. DCHP – Do Not Specify
8. DNS – Automatic
9. MTU Settings – MANUAL
10. It will be set to 1500 BY DEFAULT. Click that, change it to anything between 1200-1499. Press R2.
11. Click Next.
12. Proxy – Do Not Use
13. !!!!Do Not Test Connection!!!!
14. Sign into PSN, if that don’t work reset PS4 then sign in.

Well when you pay for a service and it goes down, like everything else you expect to be compensated for the troubles it has caused. I am sure if the shoe was on the other foot you would expect me to pay for the use of your service if i needed it..Hack or no hack, you earn enough money out of all the products you provide to invest in to systems that would stop this happening! think about the customer 1st and not your profits !!!

Is it just me or are the ps4 servers still down? This is really annoying me now…. 5 days now.. I do hope some sort of compensation will be given and not just some terrible game that nobody wants to play!

I had been unable to connect to PSN for 5 days and was finally able to get back online thanks to people posting here how to change the MTU setting in the Network settings of the PS4. Follow the previous posters settings Chymiro195 and you will be able to get back onto PSN. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You guys say your network is back up. But yet I still can’t log in. 4 days now. This is beyond ridiculous and borderline unacceptable. Does it really take that long for your techs to do their job? I mean that’s pretty sad

They must either hire an attorney to defend each small claims action, settle or not show up in which case you win for the damages your asking. Cost of system, pain and sufferring, i.e. mental anguish, lost wages, cost of system etc.
Hit them in the pocket book. This I only say to do because of their total lack of customer support. Its not their fault they were hacked, but lies with regards to the system being online and not providing ways to contact are another.

I get there’s alot to be done with the network and it’s security but don’t say it’s up and running when ppl still can’t get on. My Internet is good and connected at 100 percent yet I still can’t login into my psn.keeps saying reboot ps4 or check internet with some code. What gives?

Ok so has your customer service also been attacked? I call today, about 5 minutes past 11am (8am Pacific) to get a refund for a corrupted game download, a problem I have given up trying to fix after uninstalling it and re-downloading it 4 times, rebuilding the database from the Safe Mode, and even initializing my psn and deleting all my data, the problem persisted, so I picked up the game on disc. I call because I want to get a refund to my card, so I’m on the line for an hour(!!) only to get the busy signal after waiting and have my call ended all the while the automated voice is telling me to use the live online chat, but the kicker is the live chat says its OFFLINE. THATS INFURIATING.

Rebooted my console and it still isnt working! I cant even log in
Still can’t access psn. I was going to call love customer support but for some reason that’s unavailable? Why is that? I just want to play which I haven since Wednesday!
This is working since yesterday!! The PS Store was down a longer time, but I was able to play online on Vita and on PS4, and sync my trophies! Maybe new comers wanted to access the Store and that’s a bummer, but oh well…

my ps3 will go online and on to the PSN network but my ps4 will not what is the deal…
I opened my playstation on Christmas and haven’t been able to play it since online. This really ridiculous and the second time something major happened like this. Now for the PS4 we have to play for PlayStation Plus in order to play online and we have to pay for that. This issue needs to be resolved quickly especially since Microsoft fixed theirs and have XBOX live running within a day it happened. Also I hope Sony/Playstation reimburse all Playstation members with something to accommodate for this problem. Last time I don’t believe we received anything for the hacking issue besides an apology. Sony/Playstation needs to do better before a lot of people switch to XBOX. Keep in mind one reason lots of people was with PlayStation was because to.com play online was free. Now that changed I don’t see a reason why people won’t switch to a better system and company.

I like the way those involved are backtracking and going online to help. Saying no it wasn’t a hack it was DDos etc and it was to show how poor Sony’s security is.
Now they seem to have grown a conscience due to money offers and poor public response.
