As you probably know, PlayStation Network and some other gaming services were attacked over the holidays with artificially high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. This may have prevented your access to the network and its services over the last few days.

The video game industry has been experiencing high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. Multiple networks, including PSN, have been affected over the last 48 hours. PSN engineers are working hard to restore full network access and online gameplay as quickly as possible.
From time to time there may be disruptions in service due to surges in traffic, but our engineers will be working to restore service as quickly as possible.
If you received a PlayStation console over the holidays and have been unable to log onto the network, know that this problem is temporary and is not caused by your game console. We’ll continue to keep you posted on Twitter at @AskPlayStation and we’ll update this post once the problems subside.

@AskPlaystation is a worthless option for support. I have submitted questions to them since last Sat and not received a single reply via twitter. During the outage all they did was repeat a scripted reply with no ETA or updates. After the network came back up, no extended customer support hours for online chat, telephone, nothing!! Sont obviously has no idea how to run a business, and definitely not how to compete with better businesses. My advise to anyone who has been affected by this is to file a complaint with http://www.econsumer.gov/english/
Okay this is starting to become some real bulls***….I said yesterday that I had to be patient but for real…nobody being able to sign-in in the PS4 is one thing,now seeing all your friends who own a PS4 online and playing games is a completely different thing and an annoying one.I’m done being patient come on Sony how many days do you want me to stay without playing PS4?….this is ridiculous.
still not able to connect. When i try to log into PSN it gives me the NW-31194-8 and when i test my connection status i get the CE-33992-6. hopefully all this will be finished soon…
I think once psn is down at certain places it will not work completely until its back up all over,games like dragon age u need to b on their servers

And those people who are saying that Sony ruined their christmas, you’re blaming the wrong people. It was the lizard squad who attacked their servers. And being how massive this attack was it’s no surprise that some of the network is still down.

Hi, I changed MTU to 1473 and it seemed to work. Anybody know if we need to change back to original settings?
Also where is the official Sony statement on this fix?

6. IP Address – Automatic
7. DCHP – Do Not Specify
8. DNS – Automatic
9. MTU Settings – MANUAL
10. It will be set to 1500 BY DEFAULT. Click that, change it to anything between 1477 and 576. Press R2.
11. Click Next.
12. Proxy – Do Not Use
13. Restart the PS4, and sign into PSN

I just tried playing My Final Fantasy Realm Reborm but for some reason the PSN still does not work on my PS4, I am wondering if this problem is still continuing on my network, and I would like to know if this problem will be fixed soon.
MTU – mass transmission unit. the default 1500 is some how still down, change to anything from 1200-1499 one will work
What free game is it? MTU stands for Maximum Transition Unit, don’t know how it works- but it does.

Its benn 4 days of the attacks and I still can’t log in on my playstation4. I can log in here to leave this comment but not on the ps4. Ive never had an Xbox before but Sony’s disappointment in these few days have led me to sereousley consider selling these useless concole and get me my first ONE.

hello, it’s sad, because I’m trying to log in to a week and I can not, I tried to connect with sony atende.me one answering machine, for me already enough. after 17 years old playstation came time to leave, I already have my playstation sale, for now I will buy x-box at least already not return to have this lack of respect.

My PSN is still not working on my PS4. It has no trouble connecting to the internet but when I try to sign into PSN a message pops up saying “The connection to the server has been terminated”. Has my account been hacked or something? How do I fix this?

I was on the verge of breaking up my PS4. This is why I am reluctant to ever shop on Playstation Network with credit card, it is always something going on disrupting online game play. Please hurry and fix this problem my holiday is already messed up and this disruption isn’t making it any better.

I’m still not connected and its 5 days I’m trying to figure is just me or all of Houston..
The cowards at Sony are hiding behind disabled customer service to avoid having to answer for launching holiday promotions their security and infrastructure couldn’t handle. My patience has been pushed too far. I am hours away from packaging up with PS4 and returning it for an XBOX One. Sony, this is pathetic.
I think there should be some kind of compensation. I have all my music, tv, video games, movies through psn and pay for the premium. I also understand that it isn’t their fault but I am a loyal subscriber.
