As you probably know, PlayStation Network and some other gaming services were attacked over the holidays with artificially high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. The video game industry has been experiencing high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. Multiple networks, including PSN, have been affected over the last 48 hours. PSN engineers are working hard to restore full network access and online gameplay as quickly as possible.
From time to time there may be disruptions in service due to surges in traffic, but our engineers will be working to restore service as quickly as possible.
If you received a PlayStation console over the holidays and have been unable to log onto the network, know that this problem is temporary and is not caused by your game console. We’ll continue to keep you posted on Twitter at @AskPlayStation and we’ll update this post once the problems subside.

This sucks. Just reimburse everyone for time lost. I’m still thinking of switching to the xbox1. I’m a die hard sony fan and I’m being disappointed left and right here. I don’t want to play a ps3. I want to play my ps4 which I paid out the ass for. Get it right or get out my house.
If these fixes work, then why isn’t Sony stating to do this?
I still cant get logged into my PSN!!! I tried restarting my playstation and router like the suggested actions say but cant get connectedto the server saying error (NW-31194-8) can anyone help with this issue?
Restarting Modem or Router will not work. If it was a problem with either, you wouldn’t be here reading this mass of moaning and groaning.
Just manually set your MTU in your Network setup to anything between 1477 and 576. You have 900 number to choose from. One of them is bound to work for you.
Changing MTU does not affect your security. It only manages what you Maximum Transmission Unit is. The bigger the number, the more efficient your transmission

10. It will be set to 1500 BY DEFAULT. Click that, change it to anything between 1477 and 576. Press R2.
11. Click Next.
12. Proxy – Do Not Use
13. Restart the PS4, and sign into PSN

I’m online but can only play a few games online. It’s asking for updates for the games.
Most people get the system back working by choosing 1473, but restarting the PS4 is important.
But until you’ve tried all 900 numbers between 1477 and 576, don’t say it didn’t work for you. Go try everything until it does. You should be able to play in about 6 hours, or so.
I still can’t connect and I don’t know if it is my problem with my internet or still PSN.
I know you guys are working pretty hard but when my hard earned money goes down the drain, it concerns me. When you usually pay for a service, you expect it to work, especially from a big time company. I did not mind when it went down in 2011 because we were not paying for psn, which was totally fine, but now that we pay for it, we want it to work. I hope that psn does go up soon, and that sony at least reimburses us for our time loss or gives us some sort of compensation. Thank you for your time

I was down from Christmas Eve until now. While I was able to play my Farcry 4 sony employee’s likely had an interrupted holiday. Further, Sony likely lost millions they will not get back.Blame the people that caused this and stop talking about lawsuits and a few dollars. Have fun and let it go.
@Evasionn If it was your internet, you wouldn’t even be on this site. Just read back, and try changing your MTU in your Network setup

I hope Sony has the balls to sue those people who where responsible for psn being down. Minors or not they need to be punished for what they have done.

Sony is lying and telling everybody that the PSN is working. I am still unable to log into PSN with my PS4, and when I try to talk to customer service they disconnect from me. The twitter and customer service sites are useless. I clearly bought the wrong platform…Microsoft has fixed their problem and doesn,t have to lie to their customers saying there is some latency.

Paying for online services that are constantly unavailable? Waste of money. Why is it my other friends can access online features and mine is still down? 4 days and no progress for me. So much for having the weekends free time.

I’m online with MTU 1477 since yesterday, getting good data transfers. Downloading new games worked fine, playing online games worked fine.

come on Sony please get this sorted. i have tried everything possible, changed the mtu from all different ranges. changed my internet to wired then back to wifi nothing works!! i have reset ps4 system 4 times too. my internet is fine all up to date my PSN works straight away on my PS3. please please can someone help im getting rather annoyed at this now. uk resident

I hope we get compensated for the outage, since I took 3 days off work for the holidays to enjoy my Destiny Game. Yet for 3 days straights I can’t even log into my account to play Destiny. Lucky Bungie was nice enough to extended Xur stay. Anyway blocking DDoS is not that bad. I’m sure your engineering team, developers team, and IT team, and with an Information Assurance Team. I’m sure that you can have a firewall up and block all the crap in the bad online internet message. Each message is send over the internet have a certain header file. If is the correct message header that sony used to communicate over the network then block them. I’m sure your team can come up with something very creative. Also if you have time read the NIST 800 Rev 4 for IA security issue and buy some NESSUS scan engine. Hope that you can pickup all your vulnerabilities ahead of time. Is just sad when I see your engineers, developers, ITs, and IA is not that well coordinated. Now to the real question, do I need to chance my credit card info?
I think play station is a load of toss it has lost all respect it has ever had they don’t update you for days to tell you what’s going on when it will be up again I am waiting on delivery of Xbox one and hope play station suffer from attacks every week n lose all customers
I’ve been trying today to connect to psn but It won’t it says “the connection to the server has been terminated” (NW-331194-8) so I did everything that it suggested to me but saying the same thing then on Twitter they said to reboot your ps4 and it should work or do it again if it doesn’t I did it 23 times now nothing happen please get it sorted
