As you probably know, PlayStation Network and some other gaming services were attacked over the holidays with artificially high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. This may have prevented your access to the network and its services over the last few days.

The video game industry has been experiencing high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. Multiple networks, including PSN, have been affected over the last 48 hours. PSN engineers are working hard to restore full network access and online gameplay as quickly as possible.
From time to time there may be disruptions in service due to surges in traffic, but our engineers will be working to restore service as quickly as possible.
If you received a PlayStation console over the holidays and have been unable to log onto the network, know that this problem is temporary and is not caused by your game console. We’ll continue to keep you posted on Twitter at @AskPlayStation and we’ll update this post once the problems subside.

Hey sony every time I try to sign in I get a code and it dose not let me sign in to psn
I would just like an eta on when the network will be back up. Also, I don’t understand how someone 20 minutes away from me can log onto the PSN and I can’t. Regretting the purchase of the PS4.
Still down for me has been since Christmas really sucks I rented advanced warfare and cant even play online
I still can not log into PSN and I have rebooted everything 3 times. Most of my games are online and that is why I have PS Plus. I hope it gets fix.
Un-Exceptible.. I’ve been waiting for my ps4 for a while now but when I get it, I can’t get online. I can’t play with friends. I can’t buy dlc. It’s so in-fair how my friends can get online but I cant. I want to have fun with them. I don’t want to sit here doing nothing while having to play PS3. ._.

Well PlayStation network claim to be up and running but I still wasn’t able to connect to the network. So I said screw it and sold everything and decided to wash my hands with PS all together and I’m sure I’m not alone. Its sad even when I spoke with support they wasn’t even listening to what I was saying and replied with a bot like answer that didn’t explain anything that made any sense. So goodbye PlayStation.
To everyone that is blaming Sony for not being able to restore online or that they should increase their security, I’ll help explain how that’s not easy. first of all security wasn’t breached through access of company by password nor did the hackers enter the companies security system. All the hackers did was infiltrate the servers with traffic which caused lagging the users out. this means that the hackers used a simple and common process called DDoS (Distributed Denial of service attack). reminder apple lost their information for their user’s through that process too not long ago.
The last time psn was down it was down for over twenty something days so something to think about guys.

At this point in time I am probably just going to return the PS4 and all the games I purchased my kids for Christmas for an Xbox one and versions of the games. But at this point Sony has left me almost no choice to move on, I no longer have any faith in their ability to support their product or fan base. Goodbye Sony.
I remember that when PSN was down for almost a month and that is what I am worried about and Sony is not tell the full story of this network problems.

I can see my friend’s list pop up occasionally with other people playing games but I haven’t been able to use any online features at all, I have done all troubleshooting possible when will I be able to use psn again like others?
Dear sony i just wanted to say thanks for fixing the issues and listening to us even though we sound ungreatful i wanted to say thanks for helping i know its a tough job will you please fix the sign in issues because even though the status says online my playstation 4 still is off line. I wanted to get those last min sales but buying and downloading works but playing is locked. Also it has been 4 complete days and nights that ive had no service. Also if there wasnt this many people that are complaing would mean less customers. So we love our ps4 and love online gaming. Ofline gaming sucks boring no one to play with so go playstation thanks again for your time and effort
Alright man, I’m calling bull****. As of 12/29/14 PSN is still not playable. Playstation don’t got their **** together if they really think the last update was 100% accurate. I still can get on even with all those reboots, MTU codes, restarting my router NOT A DAMN THING! I know you guys are working on it but at least let us know more or lie to us.
Sony fix this problem get your heads out of your assess this is unacceptable I expect my own and everyone else’s to be working by new years if not you have lost a customer

I still can’t login either. It’s sad finally saving for a ps4 only to be stuck playing ps3 for the last 3 days. I downloaded Destiny to get the promo for a free copy on ps4 by 1/15. I do not want to change the MTU to 1473 as I have heard stories of players losing progress via Destiny. It would be nice to have this sorted out by the reset/ A little feedback would be appreciated instead of trying every hour just to get more pissed off. Prob want to make sure all users are getting online before you announce to the world that you have fixed something that is still broken.

I have no understanding whatsoever for Sony anymore. No, the DDoS attack was not their fault, but this messed up situation is. 5 days offline and only a a couple of generic copy/paste messages here and there. “Our engineers are working on it.” Yeah, great.
How is it possible that a multi-billion Dollar corporation has so little control over their hardware, over a chore element of their business?
But hey, Sony is Sony, right? What was this thing that happened a couple of weeks ago? SONY got hacked, some guys info got stolen and a game bought with his credit card data. And what is it Sony does? They acknowledge they’ve messed up, they acknowledge that their customer got robbed and… refuse to give him his money back, because they don’t do that for working games.
I really don’t know what to make of Sony anymore.

patience is a vertue. Gaming is an enternainment need. While offering a service to millions of people at the same is at time almost impossible to imagine, Sony and Microsoft are big enough to take a few hits, I wish as a compensation, they will give ps4 owners a little something for our disapointement. My console is still playing, but netflix instead of bf4 or destiny.

Hi i still cannot log into my account how long will it be until everyone can log in?
I’m returning my ps4 purchased a week ago at Walmart. I’ve always been an xbox user and I thought maybe it was time to try sony and this was the worst first impression. I should have went with my gut and got the xbox one for $50 more which I am in fact doing tomorrow. 4 days??? That’s ridiculous! I wanted to use the game that came with the system but you can’t access it without the network so for 4 days I’m wasting my time with the tedious sign up process over and over for nothing. I’m forced to buy a game also immediately just to use the system? Bullcrap. Bye sony!
Playstation network is supposedly back online maybe for existing playstation plus customers but i cant get onto the network to even add account details
This is to much waiting for me! SONY was attacked by group of hackers and can do nothing for 5 days. I hope S. give us something good – not like “tetris special edition”. Still can’t log in :(

This worked for me:-
1) go into settings,
2) go into network,
3) go into view connection status and note down your IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and Primary DNS numbers,
4) go back and go into Set up Internet Connection,
5) choose between wi-fi or lan cable,
6) choose custom for internet connection,
7) choose your network,
8) choose manual and then add your values for all the things listed in point 2)
9) press next
10) MTU settings- choose manual
11) Change MTU setting from 1500 to 1473
12) Proxy Server should be set to Do Not Use
13) Test Internet Connection
14) You should not be able to log into PSN and finally play (Destiny!)

Has customer data been breached? There were reports of an alleged breach and even some customer data being posted.
It would be nice if I could play destiny or access my u play and I know they can only do one account at a time but how come my next door neighbours ps4 is working and mine isn’t please don’t comment about me complaining and how they can only do one thing at a time because I know they can but Xbox has been up for a few days and I just hit the five day mark
My SON was working fine early on Xmas day but now all I get is error code ce-33987-0 surely the problem can’t be external. It was fine before.

well after 4 days i tired again to sign into PSN after hearing that the network is back. but same issue i cant log in, after looking into every possible issue i tried to sign in with my mobile hotspot and lucky it signed in with no issue at all and when i switched my internet back to my home wifi i wudnt sign in again, wtf??? i called my ips to see if the issue is with them but they were fine at their end then i called to playstation support they asked me to wait until the problem is fully resolve. i dont understand how cud this possibly happen ?? i can log in with my mobile hotspot but not with home wifi??? its getting annoying if this is not sorted out then im might return my ps4 which i just bought over boxing day!! DISAPOINTED !!!
