PS4‘s system software v2.00, codenamed Masamune, is making its arrival tomorrow and we can’t wait for you to check out all the new enhancements it’ll bring to your PS4. This update adds unique, forward-looking features like Share Play, and addresses some of the most highly requested features from the community including YouTube integration, USB music player, ability to find players you may know, sorting options for PS4’s game library, and themes that change the look of your home screen. This is the biggest update we’ve delivered to date for PS4.

Here’s a recap of some top features you can expect with Masamune in list form:
- Share Play: PlayStation 4 will create an online local co-op experience by allowing you to invite a friend to join your game — even when they don’t own a copy of it. PlayStation Plus membership is required for certain Share Play features.
- YouTube: Upload your gameplay highlights directly from PS4 to YouTube by clicking the “SHARE” button on DualShock 4. In addition, a YouTube app for PS4 will be available to download from the PlayStation Store.
- Themes & Colors: Personalize your home screen background with select themes and colors. As a big thank-you to the PlayStation Nation, we want to kick-start your dynamic theme options by giving away a theme for two of the biggest titles gamers will be playing on PlayStation 4 this fall; Destiny and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Both themes will be available for download on Tuesday.
- Live Broadcasting Enhancements: Search filters, archived broadcast support and more have been added to Live from PlayStation
- Content Area & Library: Find and access your content quicker with a redesigned Content Area and improved filter and sort functions for the PS4 Library.
- USB Music Player*: Insert USB memory with music in your PS4 and start playing your favorite tunes in the background.
- What’s New: To make the activity feed more relevant and timely for you, What’s New will add Friends of Friends suggestions and Live Broadcasting updates from your friends at the top of your feed.

PS Vita and PS TV Update
Also available tonight is a new system software update (v3.35) for PS Vita and PS TV, which includes 4-player Remote Play support for PS TV, as well as the Live from PlayStation app, which allows you watch game streams from PS4 on both your PS Vita and PS TV devices. PS App Update
Lastly, don’t forget to update your PlayStation App on your mobile devices to the latest version. The new 2.0 update will include a redesigned home screen, and a new layout for tablets.

Store has been down for 6 hours SONY. You would think you would run a test of the software on a single use server to ensuensure it goes smooth. Now you have players who just want to goto the store for updates and you give NO NOTICE OR TIMEFRAME FOR IT BEING BACK UP. YOU LOOK RIDICULOUS SONY. EFFn multi-billion dollar company can’t even notify their consumers in the lurch. Awesome job.
disappointed, updated and cant access any themes, even more disappointed that we waited almost a year to get a theme update and we cant even make our own like on ps3
How about putting the maintenance screen back on home page so you have SOME info. Instead it just states “PS SERVERS ARE ONLINE”. FOR WHO THE MAINTENANCE TEAM. YOU ARE OFFICIALLY A JOKE.
All of that sounds great, but what about PC STREAMING? I want to watch shows from certain websites directly through my PS4 instead of hdmi connecting to my laptop…

I just have one question for SONY –> Where the hell can I update the username ??? I believe that was the second most import stuff that users wanted. I would have fired the project manager for not including the feature till now. Honestly this sucks…

No service is not up. You may temporarily log onto things but if for example you try the store it will say under maintenance. So if they are updating one aspect then they are NOT ONLINE they are bypassing items with issues.

You don’t understand good business ethics do you snake? Its not the point that services are down. Its that they have ZERO respect to notify those who pay their salaries. PR is for problems a media/ marketing department should have had a post not only on the home page but as a notification on the system. They make it so you can have local time on my system so why is there NO notification personalized by region that can be provided. If you want to read a book go ahead nerd. I wanna shoot people online

Really liking the updates in 2.0 so far. I have noticed a lot of little things that weren’t mentioned in any posts, but are much appreciated. Being able to trim clips quickly is great, and having the option the check for updates manually(and pause downloads) is a nice improvement. The system software is becoming much more stable for me as well.
My only gripe with 2.0 is that the App/Game sorting kind of feels like a half-measure. Limiting the number of items displayed is helpful, but there is still no way to properly organize things. After paying $60 for digital games, I would like to display them in a more personalized manner. Having them mixed in with unrelated apps and services doesn’t do them justice. It’s a small thing, but having a way to display my games would impart a greater sense of ownership. Just my two cents!

If you want to be someone who gets stepped on like a kid being shook out of lunch money then be that scared likttle boy and buy a dog to help you out. I don’t take crap and let people walk over me especially when I pay for their services. this update is absolutely terrible. theres a waiting screen before the ps4 turns off or goes into rest mode. what is that? it used to be instant. NO SERVERS no access to PSN at all. Overall glitchy. Sony.. You guys ruined a perfectly good running system and released a bomb of an update. shame on you. This needs to be fixed asap if you want to keep your customers loyal
I just want to be able to organize what games appear on the main menu. Like the “Other’ console has so you can pin stuff to your home screen. It’s all a bit muddled at the moment.
edit: I can sign into psn now. but there are still issues. it says an error has occurred when I try to do some online things. I clicked friends and it says that. also, wtf is up with this party update? I have to click a separate menu to “prioritize party” or “prioritize game”

One Question: If someone has a PS4 and his friend has a PS Vita in another country and he wants to play his friend’s PS4 games, can he do that via Remote Play and Share Play ?

Can we please get Bluetooth support for the Logitech Harmony remotes? I would like to be able to connect the harmony IR to Bluetooth adapter so I can actually use my remote to watch movies instead of the controller. It’s ridiculous that the PS4 has a LOT less functionality than the PS3 did on launch. We still can’t even use Bluetooth headsets on the system which we were able to do on the PS3 day one. We are coming up on a year and these simple features haven’t been input into any of the many firmware updates we’ve gotten.
Excellent work, Sony! I’m incredibly excited to use the Share Play feature (wow, no downloading required? Flippin’ nice!). I’m also really happy that you added a way to pause downloads.
One request: Please make it so we can view our trophies offline. After that, I look forward to being able to store personal videos and music on the HDD, just like the PS3 could do on November 17th, 2006.
Otherwise, this is probably the best update on PS4 we’ve had yet. I look forward to update 2.10.
I’m liking it so far BUT where is the singstar app? I’m ready to sing badly for all the masses. I thought it was coming out today?
I had the same problem.
I put it on Rest Mode then later on when I came back I pressed the PS Button on the controller and the controller came on but the PS4 would not come out of rest mode it just made the Orange light flash non stop. I held power button and still nothing. I had to Unplug it. Then plug it back in and it worked after that but I do not dare to risk putting it on Rest Mode Anymore at all until this is Patched and its 100% guaranteed fixed.
So far I absolutely LOVE this update and can’t wait to use Share Play(TAKE THAT XBOX ONE !!) And I can’t wait to see what kind of VISUALIZATIONS will come for USB Music in the future, with the POWER and SPEED of the PS4,VISUALIZATIONS will be MUCH BETTER THAN THE PS3 AND XBOX 360 COMBINED !!!
Little annoyed. I can no longer record footage of my XMB? I wanted to upload footage of the new themes. I also can not upload anything using YouTube. Crashes every single time.
