Preview October’s Free Game Lineup
Update: We know many of you were looking forward to playing the promised PS Plus Edition and we are truly sorry for the delay. Our first priority is to provide you with the best possible experience while playing DRIVECLUB. With the high volume of new players and additional server load the PS Plus Edition is anticipated to bring, we are currently not confident that we can guarantee the best online experience. Until we can ensure that everyone can enjoy the full social connected online experience, we will be postponing the release of the PS Plus Edition until further notice.

For the past two months, PlayStation Plus members have received a couple games free the day they hit the PlayStation Store, and this time we’re besting ourselves by offering three! Yep, this month Dust: An Elysian Tail (PS4), Spelunky (PS4) and Pix the Cat (PS Vita) will debut on the Store as well as in PlayStation Plus. On top of that, there’s a special bonus this month – members get DriveClub PlayStation Plus Edition (if you want to upgrade to the regular retail version you can for $49.99), which gives them access to 11 tracks, 10 cars and all the game modes. Finally, members will receive the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum as well as Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara and Rainbow Moon.

PS4 owners can check out the Metroidvania-inspired Dust: An Elysian Tail, as well as the hit platformer Spelunky — which also entitles you to the PS3 and PS Vita versions. On PS3, our members can see where the Arkham franchise started with Batman: Arkham Asylum, as well as enjoy a bundle of classic arcade Dungeons & Dragons games with Chronicles of Mystara. For your PS Vita, we’ve got a new addictive arcade game for you in the same vein as Snake and Pac-Man called Pix the Cat and a beautiful, epic strategy RPG Rainbow Moon.

All of these games will be free for Plus members starting October 7th. Watch the video below to see these titles in action.

  • Already played Batman and the rest of the games don’t interest me….ps4 PS plus once again proves to be pretty much useless.

  • Best month I’ve seen, but that doesn’t say a whole lot. I would rather have one free game a month and have that game amazing like AC BrotherHood or AC Black Flag or something along those lines.

  • GREAT month!! I’ve been skipping most of the recent offerings, but this month I’ll get everything on PS3 & 4.

  • sony is apparently content with letting microsofts games with gold outclass them for ANOTHER month

MORE indie garbage for the ps4
MORE old games like batman that everyone and their mother has played already

atleast the vita gets some decent games, but who has a freaking vita like 3 people.

get your act together sony, we pay for ps plus and we expect better games since clearly you dont use that money towards your servers that are unstable pieces of garbage that get ddosed every month.

why not have something like this?

    ps4:
    knack
    wolfenstein

    ps3:
    castlevania lords of shadow 2
    south park

    vita:
    killzone merc
    ac liberation

  • Another great month even if i have a lot of the freebies, but its not all about me now is it. Looking forward to try Driveclub before i decide on the ful version, does anyone know if the plus edition is an entirely separate download from the main game. Also maybe I can finally beat Spelunky. And i was always curious about Rainbow Moon

  • wait a minute, isn’t Rainbow Moon one of those free-to-play games? Or at least I thought it was because I saw a long list of items that can be bought in order to play it.

As for the rest, it is a great update! I already have the Batman game, but that’s great for people who haven’t gotten it yet. I would actually like to see more old PS3 full games available not just for me, but for anybody that may have missed out on certain hot titles for whatever reason such as they may not have owned a PS3 at the time the game was released.

  • I like this month’s lineup.

  • I was hoping one AAA title would be related to Halloween, hell even re-release Outlast as a third special Halloween game would be fine. This is another disappointing month.

  • When in October will we get thegames

  • Wow! What a great month! I haven’t had much time to play very many games as of late, but I’ll have to make time for these.

  • Disappointed by SONY once again for PS3.. they are giving junk games for free.. The quality of PS3 games is getting bad. I’m ok with Batman one but the other game is simply trash…. Please give some other exciting games like racing or RPG or adventure etc.. not the 2 dimensional stupid stuff!!!!

    Thanks
    Kranthi

  • @djsaiyan I know, right? I don’t even want to know how old they are when they typed on their keyboards. They should really stop being so entitled. And also, you’re right. Driveclub isn’t a demo. A demo is Ridge Racer Vita and Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. Those two games are truly demos.

  • Holy crap this month’s Plus is insane!!! Can’t wait for DriveClub as well!!!

  • Really disappointed…

  • I gotta say: I was really hoping for something “spooky” for October(Halloween). But other than that, Dust looks really fun, and I’ve been itching to play Spelunky! And Drive Club looks cool, even though I haven’t touched a driving game in years. Pretty good month, I think.

  • Arkham Asylum? Really? That game is like 5 years old…

This is something I’d expect from Games With Gold, not you.

    Extremely disappointing…

  • I laugh at the people saying this line up is crappy. Rainbow Moon I’ve been interested in for a while, but never bought because the cross buy bundle is absurdly priced. Now I get it for free. Haven’t played ANY of the new Batman games, so there’s another win for me, and the D&D beat ’em up is a good game. Haven’t played Spelunky but I’ll try it, along with Pix the Cat. Now, allow me to blow everyone’s minds. Unless you already own these games, look at your yearly subscription card that runs fifty dollars, then search the PSN for how much these games cost, and realize they just gave away more than half what you pay per month, and will keep doing so every month. I know that some of the prices on PSN are overinflated, but this needless whining is obnoxious. If you think the line up sucks and are going to pull out crap like “THEY’RE MAKING MILLIONS!” then STOP supporting them. Money talks, and I, along with many others, are going to enjoy these free games, just as we have the months before. Let’s see how upset you really are. A mad comment is one thing, selling your PS3 because you think Sony is making bad decisions is another.

  • @dizeeStL Those games on PS3 and Vita sound like crap to me, and I would be upset with them. It’s almost like sometimes there are games you want for free that others don’t and that this list caters to different folks than you and you’re upset because you’re entitled. The games listed aren’t crap, you just have different tastes.

  • I really hate it when people wine about indie games. because they don’t realize that a lot of good developers got there start as indie developers. Also most console gamers don’t realize that the pc gamers have access to 1,000’s of indie games ans software not on psn, xbl, or nintendo’s marketplace and a small to mid portion of them are shovelware, but a large portion of them are really good.

  • Come on Sony! This is yet another disappointment! These mediocre indie titles are getting old. Let’s get at least ONE AAA title!

  • ho ly crap
this + bloodborne alpha testing = real life vacation

  • I am beyond happy with this lineup. I absolutely loved Dust on my 360 and now I’m getting it free on my PS4. Rainbow Moon looks very fun, Spelunky is a game I’ve been wanting to try out for a while now and Driveclub is prefect for me. I like racing games but I don’t buy them often. Thank you so much Sony. Yeah we all want some full AAA titles on our PS4s, but I’d honestly play Dust more than I would most AAA titles from the PS4’s launch. Thanks again!!

  • DriveClub has finally been pre-odered vroom vroom.

  • I purchased and loved Dust when it was released on the 360, and would have actually purchased it again on PS4, so I’m stoked it’s part of Plus. I can put that money towards a full version of Driveclub if the glorified Plus demo is good. I download every game I don’t already own, because why not? I’m definitely interested in trying out the D&D game as well.
I already own Arkham Asylum and both versions of Rainbow Moon (I even purchased the extras for Rainbow Moon since the game is super long even without the extra money and experience), but they’re great games for anyone who hasn’t already played them.

  • Just Dust is enough for a month for me like Velocity2x last month, having a blast of it.
Already got Rainbow Moon so for Vita I don’t get much as Spelunky is about playing for dying not fun…

  • So excited for Spelunky, and specially Rainbow Moon!!
I’ll have to buy a 32GB memory for the VITA.soon. Got one with 8GB but I’m already having troubles with memory space, there’s just so much great games for the system :

Oh and also happy for Arkhan Asylum, haven’t played that one either.

  • No horror themed games free with plus in October!? For shame Sony

  • Dang this month I actually own more than half of the things offered. Dust and Spelunky on Steam, Rainbow Moon for both Vita and PS3, Batman on PS3. It’s not so bad though, I think paid $10 or less for each of them. Too bad I’m not really that interested in the other 3 offered.

  • What a horrible month.

  • Dust is the only one for me. Oh well will be busy with Persona 4 Arena Ultimax and Destiny.

  • Some people, SOME, just don’t seem to appreciate the little games that matter. If it weren’t for the Indie companies, you’d still be doing one of the following:

    1. Still playing God of War: Ascension, waiting until SCEA and Santa Monica’s next God of War title is even announced (if happening).
    2. Still playing Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, waiting until SCEA and Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End comes out.
    3. Still playing Gran Turismo 6, waiting until SCEA and Polyphony’s next Gran Turismo comes out.
    4. Still playing inFamous: Second Son, waiting until SCEA and Sucker Punch’s next inFamous title is even announced (if happening).
    5. Still playing Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus, waiting until SCEA and Insomniac Games’ next Ratchet & Clank is announced (if happening).

Games weren’t made in a day. Need I remind people how long Duke Nukem: Forever took? How long Final Fantasy X/X-2 took? How long Final Fantasy XV (originally named Final Fantasy VS XIII) is CURRENTLY taking? If games were just thrown out left and right on demand, they wouldn’t be any better than Flappy Bird.

  • It’s the best month since we got Towerfall Ascension! Driveclub? Incredible! I’ll play too much of that game.

  • I think this month is pretty good. I’ve only played arkham, so that’s 5 games to play this month. Most excited about Dust, looks like a interesting game.

    Keep up the good work!

  • Seems it is finally time to cancel my PS+ subscription until I get a PS4. Weak games in the last two months, and Arkham Asylum ? really ?

  • Really? Arkham Asylum? Good game or not, How about a game I CAN’T already pass up for the change in my pocket in the bargain bin at any given gaming store?

  • Lots of games this Month for my PS4 and My PS Vita

  • I appreciate the day-one games on a certain level, but they’re also titles I mostly wouldn’t consider purchasing until a sale hit anyway. The fact that sales have amounted to nothing more than opportunities to bracket off actual worthwhile deals from non-Plus members instead of rewarding PS+ users and that the games library has been, overall, pretty disappointing for the recent past, coupled with the fact that I don’t really give a damn about multiplayer in most titles, is making me reconsider subscribing for the first time since, I think, ever– and I’ve been a member since day one.

  • Batman Arkham Asylum is undoubtedly my FAVORITE Game ever but I wish it was Batman: Arkham Origins that was Free.

  • Seems to me a lot of people here want the moon on a stick, as a PS3 owner, and having played AA there is not much here for me but for €7 a month i’m not complaining ( seeing as I need to keep paying that to access Destiny anyway), a few months back we got Crysis 3 and I will admit I really enjoyed that game. Where I do feel Sony need to do better is in the store with a new range of older cheaper Titles, sell them at €10 a piece on things such as MW 1 2 3, Battlefield 1 2 3 et al and you will shift more units of older product.

  • Dust – Whoo! Well, if I had a PS4.

Spelunky – What seems to’ve been a darling, but one I’ve never gone in on.

    DriveClub – T’was only expected.

Arkham Asylum – Except that with the pi-way split between physical, digital, and GOTY games, DLC, AND save files, this seems like a stumbling point for any but neophytes.

Mystara – One I’ve noticed in sales, but never tried.

Pix the Cat – Kreygasm. I remember the PS minis days of this mascot…

Rainbow Moon – Have it, and yet, have yet to go far in it. But, these folks are pretty cool in customer relations, so I’m fine with it.

  • Hopefully, there will be some October sales because this line up was very lacking. I started playing games in the 80s, I don’t need those style games now.

  • Getting tired of seeing games I bought on sale on PLUS for free. Wait a year at least, damn. Otherwise, decent month, could (and has been) worse. Pix the Cat is garbage, worst entry, easily. A Snake clone? Scrape the bottom of the barrel already.

  • I am so disappointed yet again…For the last 3 or 4 month, we don’t get good games, bunch of arcade style games. After Tomb Raider, Metro, and BioShock I was so excited about PS+ but I guess it was a trick to get people buy annual membership. For the last few months, it is like Xbox Live, nothing real exciting. My membership has expired and am not planning to renew it for old Batman games. If PS+ goes like this, they will lose a lot members. And not some many new people will sign up for this kind of games.

  • Drive Club YES!!!!! free games and more free games!!!

  • Dissapointing month. What a surprise. Start throwing some PSP and PS1 games in there. Good ones.

  • I wish Rainbow Moon was on ps4 :/

  • It looks kinda bad for ps4 month to month there is no difference. PS Plus sucks on PS4 no games no better games for free etc.

Last but not least the PlayStation Network lags as HELL. I can NOT send messages to my friends it loads on 97% every single time. Overall the PlayStation Network is too lame.

I wont buy PS Plus membership anymore im going to resign my membership.

  • I don’t pay for that **** service anymore, its a service now SONY wake up -_-

  • First of all fix that lagging PlayStation Network. Ithe whole UI is lagging cmon its 2014 i paid for the service and you? What are you doing with the money 80 million PlayStation gamer maybe the half got PS Plus so on PS4 4 everybody needs PS Plus for playing online games. In math its maybe 20 million gamers x $50 for membership = $ 1 000 000 000

Maybe there are 15 million ppl or more i dont care the fact is you earn a lot of money but the service still s u c k s.

  • Please bring back the halloween avatars from a few months ago. Why were they removed in the first place? I need that bat!
