Preview October’s Free Game Lineup
Update: We know many of you were looking forward to playing the promised PS Plus Edition and we are truly sorry for the delay. Our first priority is to provide you with the best possible experience while playing DRIVECLUB. With the high volume of new players and additional server load the PS Plus Edition is anticipated to bring, we are currently not confident that we can guarantee the best online experience. Until we can ensure that everyone can enjoy the full social connected online experience, we will be postponing the release of the PS Plus Edition until further notice.

For the past two months, PlayStation Plus members have received a couple games free the day they hit the PlayStation Store, and this time we’re besting ourselves by offering three! Yep, this month Dust: An Elysian Tail (PS4), Spelunky (PS4) and Pix the Cat (PS Vita) will debut on the Store as well as in PlayStation Plus. On top of that, there’s a special bonus this month – members get DriveClub PlayStation Plus Edition (if you want to upgrade to the regular retail version you can for $49.99), which gives them access to 11 tracks, 10 cars and all the game modes. Finally, members will receive the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum as well as Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara and Rainbow Moon.

PS4 owners can check out the Metroidvania-inspired Dust: An Elysian Tail, as well as the hit platformer Spelunky — which also entitles you to the PS3 and PS Vita versions. On PS3, our members can see where the Arkham franchise started with Batman: Arkham Asylum, as well as enjoy a bundle of classic arcade Dungeons & Dragons games with Chronicles of Mystara. For your PS Vita, we’ve got a new addictive arcade game for you in the same vein as Snake and Pac-Man called Pix the Cat and a beautiful, epic strategy RPG Rainbow Moon.

All of these games will be free for Plus members starting October 7th. Watch the video below to see these titles in action.

  • wow this is actually…pretty good for once. Not all retro 2D platformers on Vita. Though I’d still like to see some non-Indie offerings on Vita

  • For those of you that enjoy this list among the others, great! I personally didn’t pay for a PS4 & PS Plus to play side scrolling Indie games. To each their own, but this crap has got to stop.

  • First month I am really disappointment with the selection, there are so many other great PS3 titles that could have been offered up.

  • Xbox Live: Battlefield Bad Company 2 / Darksiders 2 Free Game
PSN: Demo DriveClub, Indies “Free Game” rent

  • Not really much that’s worth checking out this month out side of Drive Club :/

  • You guys promised not to put a game on crazy sale and then give it away for free. I just bought Arkham Asylum in a flash sale and I haven’t even installed it yet!

  • Shimrra74, I agree with you on there are so many other PS3 games they could have offered. Batman Arkham Asylum was a great game however they could have offered up so much more. For those of you that haven’t played, I am sure you will enjoy it but for the rest of us, this really stinks.

  • To each their own, but this is great month. New games at launch and a RPG, and it is on Vita to boot.

  • Great selection this month!

  • Really wish people would stop calling the Plus version of DriveClub a demo.

You don’t get trophies from a demo. You dang sure don’t get a Platinum trophy from a demo.

It’s a feature complete version of the full game, with fewer cars and tracks.

    Big difference.

  • Garbage. I’d really like to renew my PS+ subscription but not for this lineup. I’ll wait til there’s something that isn’t $5.00 in the bargain bin.

  • I cant believe how this service has declined in the past year.

  • Incredible Plus update. I’ll play all of those PS4 games. Looking awesome. Especially DriveClub! ^_^

  • This is great. Pix the Cat looks really interesting and Rainbow Moon was a game I was too sure about.

I really don’t see why people complain so much about this content. It’s not like it’s a right have any of it. It’s a generous thing to get this stuff.

Keep up the awesome deals guys!

  • All those games are great value with Spelunky and Rainbow Moon my top picks. Still Im not very excited of all the content. Dust looks interesting while Pix is slightly so. And I plan on buying Drive Club so thats not relevant to me. However I am sure someone will enjoy playing the free version.

  • Not bad.

  • Between these Plus games and the giant list of games coming this season I think I am going to have to lock myself in the Mancave.

    Alien Isolation October 7
    PS TV October 14
    Borderlands: The Prequel October 14
    COD November 3
    The Crew November 11
    Assasins Creed November 11
    WWE 2K15 November 18
    GTA V November 18
    FarCry4 November 18

  • Dust: An Elysian Tail is a fantastic game, can’t wait to play that, along with Pier Solar I’m going to be busy this month.

  • I’m pretty happy with the line up, feel both September & Octobers are more than acceptable when you consider that it is slightly over $4 per month if you buy the annual membership. Some of the offerings before that we not as good for me personally but I understand that not every month will be out of this world or suit my tastes.

One of the great things about plus is that I end up playing games that I would never normally pay for but end up enjoying them. I swear some people wouldn’t be happy if it was six AAA titles every month without fail, they would probably complain that they had already bought them all. Plus isn’t mandatory, if you don’t like it then don’t pay for it.

  • I am thinking some people are just delusional. People complain because it is their right to do so and if someone is unhappy about something, they have the right to express their opinion. I will say it again, for those that enjoy these kind of games, that is awesome but for those of us that do not, we are not going to be jumping for the stars at crap that does not interest us.

  • Arkham Asylum is kind of joke for PS3 owners. I have an enormous backlog and even I finished that game years ago. Would love one month to get a credit to allow plus subscribers to pick their own game, maybe limit it to games over 2 years old (even that would be 3 years newer that Arkham Asylum.)

  • And PS Plus is freaking required if you have a PS4 and want to play online.

  • Wow that Dust game looks amazing.Wish that was on PS3.

  • Not a bad list but not so great either.

We had more significant games in the past like Bioshock: Infinite, Tomb Raider, Metro Last Night and so on. PS4 titles need a work but I understand that product is new and don’t have so many titles.

  • The last game to come out on PS Plus that I actually wanted was Strider. All these Nintendo games on Ps4 are making me want to trade it in for an Xbox. They started the year so well and its just been downhill from there (Except Tomb Raider). Guess we’ll wait and see what happens next month. Disappointing YET AGAIN…

  • Dust and Spelunky are both fantastic. The Drive Club thing confuses me a bit. I preordered the full game. I assume it has more cars to choose from over the Plus version? Is that the only difference?

  • @117 I’ll add Dragon Age and The Evil Within to that list and say wallet never seem emptier. lol

  • HMMMM… this list makes me glad that i bought the metal gear solid HD collection for my vita this morning.

I think it should be pretty obvious to everyone that December is clearly going to be the best month of the year AMIRIGHT!?

But please don’t ever put P4G on the vita game list because EVERYONE WHO WANTS IT OWNS IT!

LISTEN TO ME! NO P4G! (also don’t listen to those ppl saying they want ps1 games and psp games! they are retards who don’t understand that VITA game developers are getting a cut of the ps+ money)

    also, thank you.

  • this is by far the worst month i’ve seen since getting ps+. we have dust, a game from 2012 that ms already gave away months ago, a ps3 game from 2009 (that’s not even this DECADE), a glorified demo in drive club, and more of the same indies. most months have at least had 1 or 2 redeeming titles, this month has nothing.

  • Week October line up. We need to get some real games and stop with the Indies. We could have been given Assassian’s Creed or NBA 2K14 or something. Heck even Knack. Like the PS4 Lineup outside of Driveclub is weak. Highly disappointed

  • Garbage Garbage Garbage……I have a feeling their streaming service is going to ruin plus membership. I mean I can stream PS3 games that I have to pay for but I cant get one for plus. BULLS**TT. I had nintendo when I was a kid I don’t and most people don’t care about this indi…..GARBAGE. I am not even wanting PS4 games, but come on port a decent older game.

  • Why are people so happy about Driveclub? It’s not even the full version right?

  • I must say that the overall quality of PS+ has truly dipped over the past year or so… Honestly it had been headed downhill for a while, but it had really hit a new low starting around the time that it switched to the new format of two games per platform per month.

I mean, sure you can look at the price of the games that given with the membership for a few months and say that it justifies the annual cost of the membership, however, the fact of the matter is, most members have already previously purchased the games or would not purchase 90% of those that are now being offered; especially since the majority of all games ar Indie Titles (which are more “hip” to own than actually fun to play), and the AAA titles are few and far between, and those that are offered, are typically 3-5 years old.

  • Weak PS4 Line up. Should have been Assassian’s Creed or NBA 2k14, Knack, or maybe even Tomb Raider. These low budget indies are weak. Only ones I enjoyed were Outlast and Resogun. Heck even Goft Club could have been a selection.

  • Four free games for the PS4?! Nice.

  • Damn, my sis just bought me Rainbow Moon last week as a birthday gift. =(

  • Well, just when I thought I was out of Spelunky they pull me back in. Pretty decent lineup especially if you have a PS4 this month.

  • 2 juegos muy viejos (rainbow moon y dungeons and dragons) y uno viejo (batman arkham asylum) No se justifica pagar ps plus para esto, hace un par de meses que viene decepcionandome. quiero mejores juegos y mas nuevos!!
2 very old games (rainbow moon and dungeons and dragons) and a old but good game (batman). these months are poor on ps plus. very bad, very sad. please give us games more new and not indie´s

  • Kind of a disappointing month. I’ve no interest in Driveclub, and I imagine the majority of people with an interest in games of its kind have already played Arkham Asylum years ago, myself included. Dust is probably the only game this month that I’ll actually play.

I was hoping for some scary games for Halloween. Also kind of hoping that we’ll start getting retail PS4 games entering the Plus rotation soon. I like indies, but since the PS4 has been out for almost a year now, surely there are some retail releases that are past their sales prime and would benefit from more exposure to gamers through Plus. It would be good to get a mix of one retail and one indie each month, as has been the norm on PS3 for a while now.

  • Honestly it’s getting better in the variety department. take the survey people. Obviously Sony knows we are not happy since the new 2 game format. This month offers better variety but the truth is these games are really old and cheap. They really should offer psp , psone or a ps2 classic well. Or allow us to choose from a list. It’s overkill on the indie. Batman? Seriously Sony? Who hasn’t played that game that’s been on Sale umpteen times. Really cheap move.

  • Also, both Spelunky and Dust have very good Metacritic scores, so we are not talking shovelware here. Again nice job Sony.

  • Ps3 lineup sucks … this isn’t funny anymore SONY !!!

  • Hello Sony!

First time posting so here goes.

As someone who primarily gamed on Xbox 360 last gen this lineup of free games and Flash Sales pleases me.

I already own most of these on 360 but ever since switching to all Sony all the time (bought a PS3 and Vita with my PS4) I’ve wanted to go back and play games I enjoyed on Xbox on my newfound Sony consoles. Being able to play them for free via Plus and not having to re-buy them all has allowed me to save up for new PS4 releases.

So with that I just wanted to chime in and say thank you :)

  • Another Batmam??
PS Plus each day is worst.
    Few games e repeated games.
The new system is the baddest thing happen in the world this year.
And yes, I’m inclunding the brazilian loss to Germany in World Cup.

  • Can’t believe I’m saying this but the xbox free games are really kicking our butts. They got way better Games recently than us. Not good. They are getting better with offerings, Sony are getting cheaper.

  • Damn. I hope this month’s sales look better than this IGC selection. The only things I haven’t played or bought out of this were Pix the Cat and Driveclub. -.-

  • If you guys can’t afford to buy a few retail games games, what were you doing buying a PS4? Did you think simply buying the console was the end of your financial expenditure? My goodness. There are plenty of great games on the PS4. Unfortunately, you’re going to have to spend some money for some of them. PS Plus is a nice complement of indie games and old retail games and all that. I love it. But man, I’d drive myself crazy if I waited for Sony to give me every game I wanted to play.

Bring on the indies, I say. Dust looks cool, and I’ve heard great things about Spelunky. I’d much rather have those than Knack or Thief or whatever mediocre game everyone’s begging for because it’s “AAA.” I have Thief and I’d trade it for a decent indie game in a second.

I continue to be amazed by what people expect for $4 a month.

  • Whoa, are you THE Kristine Steimer? Like Greg Miller’s girlfriend? I always hear about you on Podcast Beyond/Gameovergreggy but never knew you worked for Playstation! Hi!

  • Dang, I have most of these games and have no interest in sim racing games, this month is a bust for me. Hopefully next month is better. Hopefully we get some crazy good Vita games, I have been itching to pick up the system again.
