Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 4 will feature a range of major visual and technical upgrades to make Los Santos and Blaine County more immersive than ever. In addition to increased draw distances and higher resolution, players can expect a range of additions and improvements including:
- New weapons, vehicles and activities
- Additional wildlife
- Denser traffic
- New foliage system
- Enhanced damage and weather effects, and much more
Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 4 will also feature enhanced radio selections with over 100 additional new songs and new DJ mixes from returning DJs across the game’s 17 radio stations.
All players who pre-order the game will get $1,000,000 in-game bonus cash to spend across Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online (GTA$500K each for your Story Mode and for your GTA Online in-game bank accounts).
A host of new, exclusive content also awaits for players returning from the PlayStation 3 include rare versions of classic vehicles to collect from across the Grand Theft Auto series such as the Dukes, the Dodo Seaplane and a faster, more maneuverable Blimp; activities including wildlife photography and new shooting range challenges, new weapons and more.
Enhancements to Grand Theft Auto Online include an increased player count, with online play now for up to 30 players on PS4. All existing gameplay upgrades and Rockstar-created content released since the launch of Grand Theft Auto Online will also be available for the PlayStation 4 with much more to come.
Existing players will be able to transfer their Grand Theft Auto Online characters and progression to PlayStation 4.
After being able to snag the more expensive ‘steelbook’ limited edition, I have to take the pass on this unless there is an ability to upgrade. I would love to have this on the PS4 but I won’t buy it all over again unless I can upgrade.

I guess it comes down to the preorder bonuses. And money in game from something I can earn in game isn’t super exciting.

It’s currently listed on amazon at 60$ but the date hasn’t changed yet. So who knows. But it will be 50$ at cheapest is my bet.
There’s some things I still want to know…
1. Is the character transfer one way, or can I transfer my PS3 character to PS4, then take it back into PS3 if I want to play it there?
2. Any kind of deal for those who own the digital PS3 version?
3. Is the trophy list separate from the PS4 version?
I’m hoping it”s an entirely new trophy list. I’d really like to know this sooner rather than later. I want to have trophies available to me in the PS4 version, so I’d like to know whether I should mop up the PS3 version’s trophies now, then be able to do the PS4 trophies once that releases, or if they’re shared, and I should save my yet-to-be-unlocked trophies for the PS4 version.

1. I would imagine your characters would be universal between systems both ways because that data is on R* servers, as for single player I doubt it.

What’s that, sell a million more copies of a really good game on a new system? Was The Last of Us on PS4 a failure in some make-believe world that I haven’t visited?
Will there be shared trophies? I’ve poured countless hours into the SP campaign. I don’t feel like doing it all over again

People can whine all they want about people “begging” for discounts, but it’s simple economics. I own the game (digitally), and the PS Store knows I have the license to the PS3 version, and unless the PS Store gives me a discounted upgrade, I won’t upgrade, because I won’t play it nearly as much as I played the PS3 version (largely because I played single player only, and I won’t replay the whole game), and it’s not worth $60 to me to upgrade.
I won’t say they must give me an upgrade discount, or owe anything to me … but I won’t buy unless they provide such a discount. It’s up to Rockstar to decide whether they will benefit more from not offering an upgrade discount, than if they did offer one. My guess is they have made the wrong decision by not offering one, but it’s not for me to say.
Once again the early bird doesn’t get the worm all us how bought the PS3 version on launch day get the short end of the stick.

All this and more could be possible on PS3 with a simple update. or even in a DLC.
What did we get $500K because we had to suffer threw a bad launch, which still has issues. i hear you still have single player mission bugs a year later. Have fun PS4 owners.
will there be stereoscopic 3D support for PS4 players that have 3DTVs?
I’ve been really disappointed by the last-gen ports that don’t add 3D support, like most of the PS2 ports to PS3 did. Trine 2 on PS4 looks *amazing* in 3D.

High-five for being reasonable. The economics here are simple. Many people already have the game and they will have to decide if they want to pay to buy the same game twice. I probably will. Maybe not at $60, since I’m in no hurry, but I have no problem with them releasing this as a full-priced game. It will still sell very well at that price, considering all the PS4 owners who didn’t have a last-gen console, so they have no real incentive to knock the price down. I would love for them to give it to me for $10 because I’m such a “loyal customer,” but I’m not holding my breath.
Now it’s time for some real thuggin’ and buggin’.

looks fantastic as expected. I predicted they would bring it to next gen after the PS4 was first announced but they kept saying they had no plans for a next gen version. If there is not upgrade/discount option for digital owners of this game, sadly I will have to sit this wonderful game out. I strongly suggest that the rest of you digital owners do the same. Speak with your wallets.
It’s nice for those interested in this game that it finally has a release date. As I don’t personally care about it, I get to worry for the next two months that Far Cry 4 is going to get delayed in order to get away from GTA V.
Hopefully this doesn’t happen, and I can get my newly released title on time, rather than it getting delayed by a re-release.
But again, good news for everyone waiting for this announcement. Thumbs up.
@ OrdealByFire: If someone else hasn’t already replied to you, or you didn’t already see the answer elsewhere in the comments, YES, your GTA Online progress transfers from either last-gen console onto the PS4. Sony announced this on-stage at E3, so it can’t get much more official than that.
I pre ordered Gta 5 a month ago I’ve never played any Gta games before but I’m really excited to play this one
I wish Rockstar would release a GTAV trailer much like Metro Redux Uncovered trailer which very specifically illustrates exactly what changes/improvements are being made in next-gen upgrade.
I have bought every GTA game, but had waited when GTA5 hit PS3. I had a feeling that it would come to PS4, and I am so happy that I will get to experience it in maximum settings. Rockstar: Please release a GTA game for Vita. I am sure that you will be able to play this through remote play (but remote play does not work outside of the house). We need a stand alone GTA game for Vita. I would even love to see San Andreas on Vita. You brought it to IOS, so I am sure that it could be doable for Vita. PSP had 3 GTA original games, I hope that Vita will at least see one.

This is going to be the best version of this game I stopped playing the ps3 version because I knew that the ps4 version was omn its way the best version!!!!!!!!!!!!!
$60 for the same game again even with the Enhancements its not worth the value no more. Offer upgrade version for the users who brought it ready and for those who didn’t buy game should only paid $30 for it as disc and/or download. Anyone who thinks different on this is just fan boy or hate. :)
I have this game on PSN PS3, I’m hoping for a discount for the digital PS4 version. If there is no discount, I will not be getting it on PS4.

FFS all these whiners threatening to not buy the game. No one cares! This release is not meant for you! It’s meant for people who don’t already own the game. Enjoy your PS3 version. Rockstar is still making content for you. If an upgrade option was planned, then it would have been stated in this post. If 3D support was planned, it would have been stated in this post. What you see is what you get and I am HAPPY about what I’m seeing. I knew better than to buy the last-gen version because a PS4 release was inevitable. If you regret buying it on PS3, then that is your problem and yours alone. I’m pre-ordering this game for $60 and have no problem with that. It’s not an old game on PS4. It’s not like Rockstar had the PS4 version ready a year ago and have been sitting on it. They have been working on this ‘definitive’ and it’s worth more than your $10-$30 offers/threats.
Unlike #67 though, I WILL buy the game eventually / regardless, the story is TOO damn good n funnt not to play again. And as I said, the TONS of FREE online updates can keep a gamer and friends busy for months. Add the creator mode and some ppl with some good imagination creating their own challenges/stunts/races, and I’ll easily be playing this game for years. Lets not forget the online heists. RockStar are not noobs..haha, there’s a REASON they delayed the heists this long. I guarantee theyll be QUALITY.
That’s all fine and dandy, but what about some decent SINGLE PLAYER story dlc or heists where we can actually get paid without having to do that broken stock market? Sorry, but I already have this for the PS3 and a new coat of paint and some gimmicky dlc doesn’t warrant a second purchase. Until they give us something worthwhile, I’m sticking with the version I have now.
i just want to know if i can keep my offline save since i have it uploaded to sonys ps+ cloud, i hope so i really don’t want to restart the story an to all the people complaining have to learn not everyone thinks like them, like me i don’t care if i have to spend $60 on a game i think is the best in the world
This game is easily worth $120 to me, just for the single player alone. The game is incredibly detailed, I could just enjoy the vistas alone for hours. Thanks for bringing this to PS4, and giving me a reason to turn that thing on again. I can’t wait to see the improvements Rockstar was able to make to this already astounding game.
@95 Geez, what a bunch of brownnosers. I guess you guys must have money growing out of your rears if you think any game is worth $120. Most normal people have bills and other important expenses to worry about.
