Hi everybody – Since we’re just days away from the launch of Destiny on PS4 and PS3, I wanted to let you know that the game is now available for pre-load on PlayStation Store in the U.S., Canada and Latin America.
This means if you’ve pre-ordered Destiny digitally via PlayStation Store, you’ll be able to begin downloading the game on PS4 or PS3 starting now. Once you’ve downloaded the game, you’ll be ready for the official Destiny launch this Tuesday, September 9th.
Here are your options for pre-loading Destiny:
- Take no action; Destiny will begin automatically downloading, provided that “auto-download” has been enabled on your PS4 or PS3. Over the next few days, your system will check for updates and the game will begin downloading by Monday, in time for the release on Tuesday.
- If you can’t wait until then, you can enable the download manually. In PlayStation Store, navigate to the Destiny game page and click the “download” button. If you haven’t yet preordered, you can preorder and then begin downloading.
The game won’t be available to play until 12:00am Pacific Time / 3:00am Eastern Time on September 9th, but you’ll be ready for the ultimate Destiny experience on PlayStation.

Is there an official place to express grievances to PSN regarding the issues expressed in the comments? Perhaps a petition of some sort? I’m just wondering if there is a more effective way for consumers to get their requests/opinions addressed.
I preordered mine from Amazon and just found out that the Pre-load is a Playstation Store only option. I’ll admit the wind was let out of my sails a bit, but I’ve waited what feels like forever for this day to get here. A few more days will be worth it once I’m actually able to play. Still super excited. Everyone complaining will stop complaining the moment they pull the trigger on that rifle the first time.
Last pre order from this east coast player as well, this pst exclusive unlock has taken a **** all over my plans with friends. Taking my money somewhere else. Also, their customer support for the US sucks, 90% of the chat agents I engaged with barely understood my concerns as a customer.

Okay so that means everyone who gets a physical copy can play when they get home? that blows I guess but what about everyone who preordered from gamestop the digital version that is what happends to us same deal??

As was mentioned earlier, Bungie made a clear statement. They are going live as soon as it’s Sept. 9th somewhere in the world. The only thing stopping you from playing at 12 am on Sept. 9 is the retailer you purchase from.

If you do the psn digital pre order on the ps3 and own a ps4 version as we’ll be warned. Right now it is still showing up on the ps4 for full price. There is no option to download for free. I bought the ps3 version due to the promotion thinking I would be able to have the ps4 version ready for launch and right now I am pissed off. Had I known that the ps4 version was going to locked until whenever they decide to release it I would have just kept the order from amazon.
An official word from sony/Bungie or one of the “bloggers” would be nice to clarify when the ps4 upgrade will be available. All we are getting now is regular user forum posts and speculation.

how is that, we will be able to play the game until midnight or 3 am sept. 9, and bungie announced that the servers will be up when the first country in the world hit the next day, sept 9, that´s New Zealand, that´s 18 hours ahead, so that means that you will be able to play on monday 4 am, its there a chance that all of us that pre ordered the game will be able to play the game, or it will remain locked until 12 pm sept.9, cause if that´s the case, i think we just got screwed…. P.S forgive my writing, english is not my first language :s
Hey guys quick i have satellite broadband and played the destiny beta and it ran smoothly solo. I want to purchase the but because i have a high ping i was wondering if there would be a limit for signing in the reason i ask is i dont want lose acces to the game down the road if i purchase it any info would be helpful
I will never buy digital again. This is a joke. I have to wait 3 extra hours for no reason. Not only that. Sony hasn’t given a reason why. I am holding back cursing and flipping the hell out but this is a joke. Biggest launch of the year and you screw people over.

I understand if you purchase the digital version of Destiny you get the PS4 for free in the same account. My question is about the pre-download,so if i start downloading now for PS3 can i do the same for PS4 .Bungies website says you can but it seems i’ll get charged twice if i do it the way Bungie instructs me to http://www.destinythegame.com/digital-upgrade
As much as the 12am PST unlock time sucks for people on the East Coast, why are people blaming Sony? This appears to be a publisher decision. Looking through the PSN store and you’ll see all Activision and Ubisoft games unlock at PST and all EA games unlock at EST. Oddly, Sony published games are mixed.
Everytime I choose “download” on my pre ordered digital guardians edition. Nothing happens. No download no error nothing at all. Help ??

Midnightphox, did it download a small file and show up as an icon on your main bar?
If so go over to the icon hit the options button and go information, the download shows there by the ( ____/18gb) and it goes up over time…. if that’s what you meant… if not idk.
My issue is more with the fact that destiny servers go up at Sept 8th noon GMT (http://www.vg247.com/2014/09/06/destiny-servers-live/) and if you purchased it digital we have to wait till 3 am EST… I understood waiting till 3 am if it was ”to keep it fair” to PST people if servers would be opening a little before midnight.. but if they are opening earlier the day before … why even make us wait till 3 am for EST, just make it midnight for the digital. (Also since if they have any patches day one and it works like it did for beta where you have to boot up the game and let it chill while it downloads the update, that’s even more wait time come 3 am).

What really frustrates me is the fact that the decision to not release at midnight for specific time zones is due to nothing but laziness on Sony’s part.
There are factors Sony is ignoring to save themselves money or not cause frustration for their employees. Sony is probably not wanting to make the time nor monetary investment to have their employees develop some programming code (or whatever) so the PS store releases digital products separately.
Also, they probably have no idea of how to stop people from changing the time-zones on their PS4 clock to technically get the game to release earlier for them, which is why they have decided to just release it according to the latest timezone on the continental US, plus where they are primarily headquartered in one of their largest markets. (I guess if you live in Hawaii, you’ll get the game earlier).
The real statement here is a lot of us aren’t buying digital pre- orders no more.

I was testing out the digital download option with this game. Now that I see they will hold out til official slated release date no matter if the game can be played earlier or not I will never do this again. Going to Gamestop to pre-order Advanced Warfare today.

I’ve recently watched some Destiny unboxing videos and noticed inside the game was a 30-day trail for Playstation Plus. Since I don’t have Plus right now, and I preordered my copy digitally, will I receive the trial? I’m assuming I won’t, but I’d be really nice if I did.
its not fair that we have to wait until late in the night to play when other people can play. I should of kept my pre order at best buy if i knew i wasn’t able to play until late into the night. This is a worst customer service and experience and planning.

Getting a glorious physical Ghost edition on Tuesday morning at EB Games. Thankfully they have an early opening, so the doors open at 8am. Going super early with some friends so we can be first in-line. Tuesday is going to be so great!

On ps3 I went to destiny brought up options went to information and it said starts 9/9/14 1:00 am. So I went to date and time settings changed my time zone and now it says starts 9/8/2014 9:00 pm. Maybe possible way around built in OS time lock???
so I been looking through the pre-orders on the PSN store and so far only 4 games have a 12am EST unlock time, NBA 2k15, NHL 2k15, Dragon Age Inquisition and LittleBigPlanet 3. Every other pre-order including COD Advance Warfare has a 12am PST unlock time. So with all this technology and NSA stuff they can’t ping our IP to determine our timezone and set unlock times for individual timezones??
