“@ Carpediem139: It’s quite simple really. Retail stores have to deal with more and more games competing for shelf space. Digital stores don’t have this problem. So retail stores HAVE to lower prices and take a cut in their own profits in order to move stock that isn’t selling, to make room for the new content that comes out every week. Generally once they have the game, the publisher/developer already has their money, so the store just takes a profit cut when they lower the price. It isn’t until an official “price cut” is announced by the publisher, where they may actually do a kickback to the retailer, so the retailer doesn’t take the full brunt of a price drop. Aside from competitiveness, digital has no need to do this, as one in four gamers prefer digital and seem to buy content regardless of whether it’s priced competitively or not.”

    – from this week’s Plus post

Doesn’t necessarily help one feel better about paying the same or even more for digital, but it does explain why prices don’t seem fair. In the end it’s about which format suits your needs.

Hi. I know this isn’t ‘Sale’-related, but there is a small problem in the PSN Store. Under ‘Other Freebies’ there’s something called ‘Destiny Orbs’ for a game called ‘Destiny of Spirits’ for the PS3. Anyway, the price is still showing even though it’s listed under ‘Freebies’. Please have someone look into that. Thanx! =)

  • Honestly I haven’t purchased a game from PSN+ in a month because I have no interest in the sales of these games! Since my PS3 has no more space for games, it’s only disc based games for me! However my PS4 needs some awesome games too…

Let’s have an awesome JUNE in the PSN+ world!

  • @102, It’s been like that for months. On the Asia PSN store, PS+ members get a “Destiny Orbs x35” every month (think of it as one of the currencies in the game). Here in the US, all we see is that “Destiny Orbs x50” in the “other freebies” section and it’s never free at all. I remember seeing in the game announcement blog post that there will be some free orbs for Plus members but it never happened.

  • @104 The 50 free orbs ARE available to PS+ members. But you have to download them from the in-game store

  • Nice update!

Man, East Coast folks get the short end of the stick with the start time for playing Destiny. Would it not be feasible to let West Coast start at 9pm PST so East Coast can start at 12 Midnight? 3am is early.

  • Transistor is simply amazing. Just like I was hoping for… Combat system is nothing less than BRILLIANT. The amount of combination you can do with your “functions” (skills) is ridiculous. Also, as a UI Artist myself, a big hola to their UI Artist… Beautiful HUD/Menus and transitions… Pretty neat stuff! Love it. Got Wolf as well, didn’t even put it in yet, this is too good :)

  • Destiny

  • so are we supposed to get codes for the beta or does it recognize the preorder just by linking accounts?

  • Ultimate_Atheist

Ummm… I don’t want to sound as though I’m ‘looking a gift horse in the mouth’, or anything, but… Why can’t we have Sparkle 2 on PS3? I have the Demo on my PS Vita to try it out and I love it! My family would like to play it on our PS3, but it’s only on Vita & PS4 (which we don’t have yet). As I’ve said, I don’t want to seem picky, especially since it’s a great value for the money, but why not give us a choice of PS Vita & PS3 or PS Vita & PS4 or PS3 & PS4 or something if we must be limited to 2 systems per Cross Buy? Please consider this. Thanx, guys! You’re awesome! =)

  • Ultimate_Atheist

@104 & @105 -> Thanx so much for the assistance, guys! I was wondering why there’s an actual price on that item, when it’s listed under ‘Freebies’.

  • When we chan download Watch dogs ?
You said watch dogs has pre download!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    In uk its avilable now….
    :|

  • @112, Watch Dogs will not be pre-loaded. Apparently Ubisoft does not allow it, so Destiny will now be the first pre-load title.

  • How about PS Plus 50% off and if you buy two PS Plus membership from the PS Store you’ll get extra 1-2 Months for Plus.

  • Arggh… Vita keeps receiving the same treatment as always, get Android games or pay again for old games you already played before.

I don’t want to pay again for an old pinball game that I bought back in the day… (by the way, fun, yea…. but not that fun), or 8 dollars for a game I can get for free on my phone…

Really guys.. how hard is to give us a GAME, long story, replay value, not a re-imagined arcade or some new age stuff. Something that we can put time in, besides a MH clone..

  • @82, I’m in the exact same situation. Canadians are getting gouged.

For my PS3, I have well over 100 games, not including digital purchases. I always had preorders in with Best Buy since they gave a $10 discount bringing the price down to $50.

With the PS4, I started off buying and preordering some games, but I’ve stopped now that the price has gone up. I refuse to pay $70 for a game and I won’t pay $60 for a preorder either.

My new strategy is to wait a couple months after release for the price to drop to $40. I have two friends with PS4s and they’re both planning to do the same thing. We have plenty of unplayed PS3 games to hold us over for now, so it’s no big deal. And once you’re in the habit of waiting a couple months, you’ll always have a fresh selection of $40 games to choose from.

Sony needs to rethink their strategy IMO, but if not my wallet will be happier.

  • Finally Digital Devil Saga is here That means it’s only a matter of time until the Second one comes out

  • It will be amazing if the first wolfenstein (on ps3) take a place in ps3 digital games (sorry for my english)

  • Ultimate_Atheist

@Playstation-> Why is it that Farm Frenzy 2 and Farm Frenzy: Pizza Party are showing that they are ‘Free for Playstation Plus Members’, but when you try to download them it says ‘Not available for purchase at this time’??

  • Will you automatically get additional characters from SSFIV AE if you upgrade from SSFIV to ULTRA?

  • would like to play valkyria chronicles 2 on my vita but it says that i need a ps3 to transfer the game,
    sadly, i don;t own a ps3

  • I’m still waiting for Brave Fencer Musashi on PSone. I know the Japanese PSN store has it. Also, FF7 Crisis Core on PSP; would be nice to play that on my Vita.

That would be the developers fault.
    @70
I’ll take these “Kiddo” games over FPS anyday of the week.”

The developer’s fault? I don’t think so, but let’s go with that.. PS1 Classics, many of which are made by Sony, so they are still to blame for not adding pictures or videos on their storefront.

Please read and think about what you typed before hitting the good ol’ ENTER button next time.

  • When did the price drop on Killzone Shadow Fall and Knack? And no one told me!!! SMH

  • Cool update but missing the PS1 Classics Crash Bandicoot and Spryo! Please make these games available for the North American PS Vita users! These are true Sony classics that should be on the NA PS Vita for play!
