Next month PlayStation Plus members will receive several games as part of their membership including Stick it to the Man! on PS4, Puppeteer, PES 2014 and Skullgirls Encore on PlayStation 3, and Limbo and Surge Deluxe on PS Vita. Several of these titles are a visual treat, boasting distinct, vibrant art styles.
Stick it to the Man! is a mix of point and click adventure puzzles plus a bit of platforming, and the animation-inspired art style is really slick. You’ll solve problems as Ray, a regular guy who wakes up one day with a giant pink hand floating out of his head. This pink hand gives him the ability to read people’s minds and grab stickers from their thoughts to use in the world.
On PS3 members will receive three very different titles: the award-winning, uber-charming platformer Puppeteer, the popular soccer simulator Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 and the indie-darling fighter with a crazy roster, Skullgirls Encore. Puppeteer is a visual treat that follows the story of a boy named Kutaro who gets turned into a puppet by the evil Moon Bear King (great name) and loses his head. After the transformation Kutaro must borrow other heads and use his fancy new pair of scissors to navigate the world and return home (preferably with his original head). Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 allows you to play as your favorite soccer team and pit them against teams from around the globe. The improved FOX Engine means that the soccer ball will be much more fluid than previous PES games. The 2D fighter Skullgirls Encore houses a bunch of wacky characters, each with their own unique attack style. The Encore version has new systems, balance updates, stages and music and a few new characters to mess around with.
PS Vita owners will get to download Surge Deluxe, an intense color-matching title and the critically-acclaimed puzzle platformer Limbo. The action in Surge Deluxe heats up quickly as you chain together color-coordinated blocks. The faster you move the more likely you are to be successful — taking too long means the pressure will build up in the pipes surrounding the screen and BOOM! Game over. If you haven’t played Limbo yet you’ll be in for a real treat when it comes to the Instant Game Collection for PS Vita. Limbo’s haunting atmosphere, intriguing puzzles and vague narrative make this a game you’ll remember for a long time.

What on earth is going on with the Vita? It had just received the Spyro games I’ve been waiting to play on it since i purchased it nearly two years ago and then just a few days later they’re gone! Very poor showing Sony… it’s like giving someone their favorite toy and then quickly taking it back and smashing it to pieces in front of them. Also, please try to port more of the Japanese games to the NA region, there is such slim pickings even with the games you just ripped out of our hands.

But let me tell you something, soccer is not just kick a ball, it is just like football and some other sports, it has strategies, great planning to do, think on formations, how to attack, defend, and of course a lot of skills, yes and a tiny bit of luck somethimes (but what sport discipline hasn’t?). So it is just not “kicking a ball”. Well if you don’t like soccer thats fine man, everyone has his tastes, i’m ok by that, but you need to understand other people choices. So? Do they need to cater to you, specifically? Have you not received more than your initial investment in return by now? But you know what’s really odd here is that you claim to have worked for a big publisher and had your name appear on the credits of two (unnamed, curiously) games. But if that were the case, you’d know first-hand that if Sony wanted the games YOU worked on in their IGC, they’d need permission from your bosses, associates, colleagues, and heck, maybe even you (depending on your level of involvement, which was probably minimal to imaginary, thus we can scratch this part). I really hope the sales in May are what make PS+ shine this month. The only game that really stuck out as a game of interest was Puppeteer. I always see other countries PS+’s getting extraordinary showings, why does the U.S. always get stuck with some really dumb games like Skull Girls? If I did not need PS+ to play my PS4 online, I think I would take a break from purchasing it. Some of the games are unappealing.

Not to sound ungrateful, but there seems to be a LOT of these side-scrolling 2D or 3D platforming type games in the Instant Collection. The PES game is a nice inclusion, but for those of us who aren’t into the platformers, there really has been too much to get excited about. Again, I think PS Plus is the best and everyone should have a taste of all that’s out there, but it’d be nice if things were spaced out a bit better. Just sayin’. Again, thank you, guys, for all you do. It really is appreciated!

@manuelvascope: IMHO they would run through the PS Vita and PS4 libraries even faster that way. Then you really would see 2 mobile phone ports given out each month on both platforms. I really don’t believe Sony chooses to give fewer and crappier games like many think. There are just fewer to choose from vs. PS3, and the ones people here would like are still selling well. So the publishers don’t want to make the deals yet. Frustrating IF you rely heavily on the IGC for your gaming needs…so don’t.

You guys seem to have mistaken my complaints about Sony’s lackluster offerings for plus for me waiting around on free games for that 50 dollar investment. I buy the games I want. I always have. I’m pushing around 2000 entries in my download list. My 50 dollar investment in plus is a drop in the bucket compared to the thousand+ dollars I spend every year. That’s what gives me a right to complain

Trolling the comments in my efforts to reach out to imminent Skullgirls fans (my apologies if it comes off as tastelessly spammy), it saddens me to see comments that disregard it entirely. What’s not lauded in the brief blurbs of the Blog post is that it, more than any other traditional fighter, actually brings you in the the scene with its robust tutorials.
Even beyond the specific characters’ mechanics (again, go get Squigly and Big Band while they’re still free!), the techniques and terms that Skullgirls details to you in layman’s English can apply to any number of traditional fighters. Heck, I remember Street Fighter III: Third Strike’s challenges that just laid out button combo symbols and having NO idea what any meant (“What’s this ‘Z’ in a circle?”). But after Skullgirls, I at least have a grip on how to do anything more than single-button moves.
So please, at least give it a try! Heck, because Skullgirls Encore is one of those demo+unlock setups, you can get a head start with the demo, then just nab the 100KB unlock key later! (But, again, go get those unlocks for the new characters, like, now! Well, at least Squigly, who’s due to become paid content in early May. Great characters, her and Big Band.)

pretty satisfied on the PS3 side of things yes I hate the fact that were getting a soccer game but hey we still get the other two which I have never played so looking forward to checking those out. However one thing that has been really Dissapointing to me is the PS4 free games like come on guys if your gonna give us some good Indie titles give us good ones last good free PS4 game we got was outlast and last great PS4 game we got for free was resogun like come on step your game up guys. I am sure a ton of people well disagree with me but i though deadnation sucked and Mercenary King wasn’t good either I haven’t played May’s free game yet so I won’t say if it’s good or not but honestly my expectations are low hopefully we get more quality games soon
