Here at PlayStation, we listen closely to your comments and requests, which are weighted heavily when looking at the future of our platforms. Since PlayStation 4 launched, we’ve heard a lot of great feedback from you about what you like with the platform and what you’d like to see us work on. I’m happy to report that, as a direct result of your feedback, we’ll soon be bringing some of your most-requested features to PS4 with a system software update in the upcoming weeks. These features and additions will help make your PS4 even more socially connected by further enabling you to customize your most epic gaming moments and granting even more options to show them to your friends.
This upcoming update will add a rich video editor with a simple tool to personalize your video clips, and you’ll also be able to export to and save the videos and screenshots you create by pressing the SHARE button to a USB drive. In addition, this update will add an HDCP off option for capturing gameplay via HDMI, a feature we’ve previously said would come after launch. We recognize that some gamers want to record and share longer clips of their gameplay sessions, and we’re excited to deliver this option with PS4. There’s a lot more coming in this update as well, so stay tuned for more—there will be plenty in the update to excite everyone.
As part of a separate system software update in the future, we have been working with our partners at Twitch and Ustream, and will also be adding the ability for Twitch broadcasts to be archived – another highly requested feature among PS4 fans who are taking advantage of the SHARE button features. These broadcasts will be also provided with a higher resolution of 720p, so PS4 fans can enjoy live broadcasts with clearer images. We’ll have more to come on these updates and more in the coming weeks.

“Soon,” “later,” “upcoming weeks?” Since when did Sony become the Faux News of consoles? Ha ha How about an ACTUAL update with, oh I dunno, ACTUAL dates we can expect things we’ve been requesting since the release of the console? Bad enough we get no information on when updates are coming, now, we get to guess when they are coming, but don’t worry, “they’re coming… I’m super cereal guys!”. Days? Weeks? Months? Years? ANY time frame Sony?

This is good to know that Sony is listening to some of it’s customers requests but the ps4 has a BIG problem which is too FEW games and so Sony should add/ enable some features like DLNA/ USB video and audio playback / 3d / youtube which Sony ps4 customers are crying out for too actually use their brand spanking new ps4 consoles more.
Right now it gathers more dust than any other device in our households.

Thank you Sony. This is a great update but still one huge issue for me and thousands of others who are limited by the sub-account. Please unlock any sub account that is over 18 or add the ability for the master account to give the sub account permission to access all content and features. I’m 25 now but I still have to add funds to my dads account just to purchase items for my account, I cant see my balance from my account. I’m very limited by the share button, as it only saves the content to my ps4, I cant actually “share” anything. If I were to create a new account I would loose my friends list, trophies, game saves, purchases, plus the 2 additional years of PS+ I subscribed to just before I bought my PS4 would go to waste, so creating a new account is simply not an option. I’ve been a devoted Sony customer since the PS1 and I’m not about to opt out now but please just add in this function so me and the thousands of others with this problem can access all of the amazing features the PS4 has to offer.

And chance of telling us when suspend / resume mode will be enabled. I use this option on my Vita every day so I can pick up and play. I hate telling my other half that I am trying to get to a save point and sometimes miss out on story because I want the game to save so I can shut down the PS4.
I am not understanding here. People all want Add on features for the Playstation 4 console.
All i want is my Playstation network to function properly and be able to invite friends and chat without any issues. Am i the only person experiencing issues day in day out with playing games with friends, trying to chat, going through multiple windows trying to join a friends game session. Hopefully one day it all gets organized and network fixes are done. Functionality is way more important than features.

What i want to add and i think alot of people will agree with me is that there is a huge problem with the DS4 LED light bar.
I know it is needed for the camera feautures, but only some of us the PS4 owners have a camera and so far most of the games don’t use it. The lights are very cool and having them is great BUT NOT BEING ABLE TO REDUCE THE BRIGHTNESS LEVEL on that lightbar is a nightmare. When the controller is charging i can see the light changing pulsating from low to high and i asume that is done with changing the Duty cycle of the PWM that controls the LED, so hardware and software wise you can let us control the brightness with just adding 5-10 lines of code. I am tired of putting stickers on the DS4 lightbar to reduce the emmited light to 5%. You have designed a perfect gaming console not just the gaming part but the PS4 hardware design is a piece of art, please do not make us put stickers on the lightbar !
Why the brightness is such a problem for US the PS4 users is MOSTLY because of the following :
At night , lay infront of my Sony 55″ HX750 TV playing on MGS V , Killzone or any of the awesome PS4 games, and then i relax my wrists on my chest and that LED not only disturbs my 1080p AWESOME experience it hurts my eyes and i can say i watch my tv with very Bright Backlight levels from very close but this DS4 light is killing my eyes, so i am being forced to held my hands toward the ground which ruins my otherwise PERFECT experience with PS4. Also this lightbar reflexes my tv and my tv is one of the least reflective screens. I am sure people with other TV`s have bigger issues with the reflections.
Other reason would be i know the LED in the DS4 are low current, but even if they are 50 mA, for 6 hours use thats 300mAh… and i think is causing at least 10-15 % battery consumption. It won’t make much difference for me if the battery lasts with 10-15 % more time but it is still something.
will the PS4 ever be able to turn on when i just turn my tv on like the PS3 can through HDMI? Also any word on youtube and HBO go!
Please give us a patch for PS3 too. It’s been a pain in arse for years to record and share PS3 gameplay. Component cable is not giving full fidelity so we need to bypass with lots of cables to record with HDMI.
I assume this post is meaning the next MAJOR firmware update and not 1.62? if thats the case, yay, maybe by June i can relaunch my youtube channel with my first LP of next gen “Sumo can’t play Second Son:A how NOT to play Let’s Play” and yes ive been mulling over that title since Andrew House and Jack Trenton lit the gaming world on fire with the E3 show! I am excited to see the coming improvements. any news on a PSNow app? TBH even tho i own a ps3, id rather play what few games i have for it via the ps4. Granted Second Son drops at midnight, after that i gotta wait til may for watchdogs-my ps4 needs something to do lol
We need some love for the sub accounts. I’m well of age, but because my primary acct I use is a sub account, I am restricted, and my acct feels inferior. PLEASE fix this
Does ANY of this fix the HDMI handshake glitch issue. This has been an issue since day one and has not been addressed yet.
Sony here are things you need to fix:
– Recorded gameplay clips should be accessible within a separate app (like Xbox One’s Upload app), not buried inside the System Storage settings.
– Allow us to upload gameplay clips to the Live From PlayStation app so all PS4 users can see them.
– PlayStation Camera voice commands should allow us to access any feature of the OS, not just games.
– When you double-click the Share button to start a recording, there should be a sound when the gameplay clip is at the 15 minute mark.
– There should be an icon on the home screen displaying the controller’s battery levels. Currently you have to hold the PS button to see this.
– USB stick support is great, but uploading gameplay clips directly to a cloud service is even better. This is one thing I love about the Xbox One, the OneDrive integration.
Hey Playstation team…when are you going to add the ability to “Search” my downloads on the store (both for PS3 and PS4)? This is a MUCH needed tool. I have over 1000 downloads now and it’s near impossible to find things. Perhaps a simple search based on title (i.e. Keyword for title) and then perhaps a category (game, avatar, theme, etc). Please please please…this is VERY needed.
I want PS4 to beat all features of Xbox1 both in Gaming and entertainment, Will the software update provide 3D blu-ray, skype and I hope all the features of the PS3 etc.

Yes, can we please add something so simple as add a media streaming option for the PS4? I can’t stream music or videos to my PS4 “EPIC FAIL” since this technology had existed on PS3. I’m not one to complain but this should’ve been done. Can we also do something about messages sent from the PS4 being cc on the PS3? it’s the most annoying thing when I send a message to friends and then log on to the PS3 just to see my own messages on it. PLEASE HEAR YOUR FOLLOWING!
We need an update to be able to get new desktop themes. AT the VERY LEAST, be able to turn on notifications to friends coming online.
I use Remote Play a lot while at home. I would love to have the ability to use the DS4 at the same time as Remote Play. While there are some games that work well enough using the Vita as the primary controller, there are some that a true controller is just a necessity.
I would love to have PSone and PS2 software emulation with HD upscaling that was rumored recently! :)
Is the HDCP Off option available to US, or to developers? If its for us, why not just turn it off completely and be done with it? If I can turn off something like that, of course I’m going to have it off. What is the advantage of having a toggle rather than removing it completely? Also, you should definitely implement it for the PS3…no more swapping in component cables.

Now how about letting me turn off the light on the controller? I do not have, nor will I ever buy the camera, why should we waste battery power on a feature that doesn’t do anything for most users?
I read that you are planning on dimming the light, but not turn it off. WHY ??? Why must the light be keep on when there is no camera to actually use the light??
Agree with others that DLNA/MP3/Videos/Pictures is a massive, infuriating oversight. Needs to be fixed a lot sooner than later. I barely touch my PS4 because of this and hence don’t buy any games. Motivation and excitement just isn’t there.
The UI also needs a revamp. I’ve never had to scroll so damn much in an interface. And the clutter. It’s not a workable system. Somebody at Sony failed in UI design class.
This is great news! The only other features I’m looking forward to are third party headset support via bluetooth, and 3d bluray support. After that my PS4 will feel complete! Thanks Sony!
I would like to be able to turn off the LED light on the DS4 controller. I don’t have a PS4 camera, so I could care less about it. And hopefully it will help extend the battery life? I’ve found the DS4 battery life to be a fraction of what I get from my DS3.
Great News, but…..
What about error CE-34878-0? Did it fix it? Its has been 2 months that i cant play BF4 and a friend of my AC4. We have 132 pages on the support forum about this. Please, none of these great updates will be worth if we cant play the games on our console.
It’s funny seeing some of the same requests that people had for the PS3 transition towards the PS4. They didn’t do anything about most of them during its dominant life cycle, let alone fix the issues BEFORE rolling out the PS4, what makes you think they’ll remedy anything moving forward? It’ll be the same thing again, just wait and see. Seems like they took more basic features away and everything they’ve added has to do with social integration.
Dear Sony, it would be absolutely AMAZING if you guys/girls would provide an update for downloading music from the Internet as with the PS3 as well as Flash Player, downloading videos/pics, and the ability to play downloaded music while browsing Internet or other apps. The PS3 still does things the PS4 can’t and WE miss the features greatly. Please please come through on this for me, for all of us. Please.

Great news. Thank you for working hard to bring us new features. One thing I would love to see in a future update would be the ability to turn off the light bars on the ps4 controllers to enhance the length of the battery life.
That’s good but what would be great is that you add these following features :
1. PAUSE/RESUME Downloads
2.MP3 and video support
3.Preloading
OH i also have a question .. What happened to the suspend/resume game ? the feature where we could directly resume the game after turning on from standby?

I, personally, would like to see the psn synced up completely. By this I mean it would be nice if my ps3 friends that I’ve spent the last seven years gaming with didn’t feel like I’ve abandoned them because I’ve upgraded my system. It would be nice if PS3 players could see their buddies who are making use of other SONY gaming platforms, such as Vita and the PS4. It’s also really annoying when I log into my PS3 and I get a cascade of messages into my inbox, messages I’ve already opened and read.
Sony wants to focus on a gaming community right? How about connecting the already existing ps communities together? I feel like a ghost, I can see them but they can’t see me…

Hmm..I don’t have a PS4 but by the time I buy one,these things are indispensable:
– Friends online/offline notifications
– Show when friends were last online
– Status comments
– Ability to pause and resume downloads
The one thing I wish for is that a controller with a longer lasting battery in it. My marathon sessions go from having a wireless experience to a wired.
Any way we can have this turned off on the PS3 as well to make playback and recording easier on us all instead of having specialized parts over just an HDMI cord?
Can you explain to me what hdcp is? and also, are the playstation network servers on ps4 better than on ps3? because i have heard about upgraded servers on ps4. I don’t mean to be the hating person, which i am not, I just heard that the ps3 network servers were not ‘the greatest’ Thanks!
for those that don’t understand mkv format it is a container format. this means that the video, audio, and subtitles could use separate codecs. so if Sony was to implement this on the ps4 through an app it would probably not support all mkv videos due to the codecs used to encode the video and audio.and the codec used to read and sequence the subtitles due to licensing costs. There are a too many audio and video codecs to name used by mkv.

Luckily I was already 18 when the playstation network was launched. My younger brothers weren’t so fortunate. I opted to be their sponsoring master account and the limitations at that time weren’t an issue. However, 7 years have passed since then. All this time, people who started with sub-accounts have been purchasing content, saving their games, earning trophies and making friends only to come to a point where they must choose between either managing two accounts split between their content before and after they turned 18, sticking to their original account and dealing with having to consult their sponsor every time they want to make a purchase as well as all the feature restrictions associated with sub-accounts or throwing away all the time spent earning trophies and saving progress, all the money spent on purchasing content and all the relationships built during this time. (whew, long sentence…)
