Here at PlayStation, we listen closely to your comments and requests, which are weighted heavily when looking at the future of our platforms. Since PlayStation 4 launched, we’ve heard a lot of great feedback from you about what you like with the platform and what you’d like to see us work on. I’m happy to report that, as a direct result of your feedback, we’ll soon be bringing some of your most-requested features to PS4 with a system software update in the upcoming weeks. These features and additions will help make your PS4 even more socially connected by further enabling you to customize your most epic gaming moments and granting even more options to show them to your friends.
This upcoming update will add a rich video editor with a simple tool to personalize your video clips, and you’ll also be able to export to and save the videos and screenshots you create by pressing the SHARE button to a USB drive. In addition, this update will add an HDCP off option for capturing gameplay via HDMI, a feature we’ve previously said would come after launch. We recognize that some gamers want to record and share longer clips of their gameplay sessions, and we’re excited to deliver this option with PS4. There’s a lot more coming in this update as well, so stay tuned for more—there will be plenty in the update to excite everyone.
As part of a separate system software update in the future, we have been working with our partners at Twitch and Ustream, and will also be adding the ability for Twitch broadcasts to be archived – another highly requested feature among PS4 fans who are taking advantage of the SHARE button features. These broadcasts will be also provided with a higher resolution of 720p, so PS4 fans can enjoy live broadcasts with clearer images. We’ll have more to come on these updates and more in the coming weeks.
I really appreciate the improvements, but the only trouble is that social media updates don’t help me at all. What I want to see is an update to the GUI so that I could establish some type of order to my content. It seriously looks like you guys couldn’t decide what to do, so you just tossed together the chaotic nonsense that is the current GUI. What I would really love to see is the option of an XMB.
Why are you guys worrying about video junk when there’s still no mp3 support?
Who the hell cares about video when music doesn’t even work properly?!
Can you please improve support for multiple accounts on Vita. It’s a great system that’s let down by being incredibly frustrating to use.
UPDATE SUBACCOUNTS ALREADY, I made one when I was 16 and now am 22, owner of PS4 and can’t use half of the new social features! This is unacceptable!

Sounds good. Please also add a PNG file format option. The PS4 deserves to NOT get dirtied with bad JPG compression.
If you check out some of the forum posts of PS4 screen shots you will see how much more beautiful they look when done with an external capture device… and why??? Because they are UNCOMPRESSED. It should be a very easy codec swap for Sony and will save players who want to get the best out of their system $100 on not having to buy an Avermedia device!
I am also on board for the mp3/dnla update (I have been since before the PS4 launched).
I would also like to add to this, photos. The PS4 should basically be able to handle all of these media types by default.

How about support for PS3 peripherals on the PS4? I know that the current state of things is to leave it up to the developers but I’m concerned that they just won’t bother trying. Injustice has been out for about five months on the PS4 and I still can’t use my PS3 fighstick with it.
I’m glad you finally decided to let us shut off HDCP. Its time to fire up the elgato Game Capture HD, edit in After Effects and make some videos. I also like the fact that you have enabled sharing directly to USB Drives as well.
Since you seem to be open to suggestions, here is one for the list:
We could really use gifting on PSN. It would be cool if we could literally gift anything on PSN including PlayStation Plus Memberships, Digital Gift Cards in the typical $10, $20 and $50 increments, movies, music, games etc… Nintendo use to have this option on the Wii and people have been using it in PlayStation Home via Gift Machines for a while now. Given how much more convienent this can make gift giveng to other users and the fact that this can drastically increase your bottom line, I believe this would be a win / win for everyone
It’d be cool if you could remove HDCP for the ps3 too. I love my ps4 but I love my ps3 just the same. :D
Awesome, but I reckon we should be able to use Pictures as our Profile picture except from facebook. Keep up the great work though. PlayStation FTW!!!
Oh as well as adding support on the PS3 for the Dualshock 4 and of course redownloading games off of PSN bought for the PS3

I hope you will add support for PS2 and PS1 games… I want to play retro/old games on my PS4 with greatest dual-shock 4 controller !

I really would like a YouTube app too. I hope we don’t have long to wait for one of those. I use it on my Vita a lot.
Can you guys remove demos from the library? Or at least offer up filters for the library (that preferably defaults to full games only, or lets you pick the default view)
And yeah, higher quality options for screenshots would be much loved.
I would love to see ether a free or one time paid (linked to account) version of a software emulator for ps3 and ps2.
I want to have one console be able to play all of playstation, and having that option is important to me. I appreciate the thought into the play station streaming idea, but just being backwards compatible even with disks would be awesome. Especially with people who have poor or no internet. And I even have great internet, but I want other people to experience great past games from sony!

The updates that are coming out for ps4 to improve streaming and get us social connected are grately appreciated. However, I dont agree with the order in which these updates are being released. To be frank, the user interface is not user friendly at all. That above all things should be updated so the player can customize and orgainze their ps4 to their liking. The vita can do it, why cant the ps4?

Here’s a crazy idea for a future update. Instead of reserving 10% of the hard drive space for system software you could just have a set limit of 50 gigs for example. That’s more than enough for whatever you throw at it. As it is now a 500 gig hard drive reserves around 50 gigs, a 1TB drive reserves around 100 gigs, and a 2TB drive reserves around 200 gigs

Other then what the rest have said which all must be done btw i will say this.
Vita firmware to play ps2 classics, this will boost revenue and open up to us being able to play more games and or throw money your way.
Ps one and ps2 classics for ps4 ( herd rumor but confirmation would be nice).
Much more stability for ps4 my ps4 still freezes on that sleep mode. Every time i try to wake up my console freezes and my ps4 bar light keeps blinking. Its a great feature but a horrible experience to have to go through.
Please fix this guys as i really want sony to come out on top.

great news! the share button is easily one of my favorite new features, and i can’t wait to see what the enhanced editor will bring. the big feature i’m waiting for, other than additional video editing tools, is youtube functionality. that is, both a youtube app for watching videos, and having youtube as a destination for ps4 videos via the share button, although i greatly welcome the USB exporting.
i also miss status comments from the ps3; a higher character limit would be nice!

You guys mean the PS4 is incapable of playing 3D Blu-Ray discs?
That doesn’t make any sense since the PS3 can handle it perfectly… but oh yeah, the PS4 can’t handle media very well. :(
No mp3, DNLA, Audio CD playback, Super Audio CD, no photos, no videos… Maybe the PS5 will have these capabilities.
Wait, so there’s nothing in this update that actually makes the SHARE button work??? The button is useless as it stands right now. Why would you guys integrate it with Twitch and stuff if the button itself won’t set aside the recorded gameplay that you wanted to set aside? It’s been the biggest disappointment for me. The Internet is loaded with forums and comments making the same complaint about the SHARE button, and this update doesn’t even fix it? Not only that, but we haven’t even heard Sony ACKNOWLEDGE the problem?
I’ve been hoping for this, and figured this would be coming in the near future. To be honest I felt the video editing and sharing on PS4 was lacking compared to the X1. My faith never swayed, however. I figured the plan was to have a functioning system and add requested features in due time. One other thing I personally have an issue with is when someone shares a video on PS and it shows up in my feed that it required me to have the disc in the system. I felt watching the shared videos would help me decide on whether or not I want to get any game, and if I had the disc it would defeat the purpose.
I’m proud to say the PS4 has won me back at the start as a multiplatform gamer. :) Looking forward to the next 7+ years.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF HUMANITY add the ability to pause downloads on the PS4!!! It would be greatly appreciated! That and the ability to see your downloads on the PSN store like you can on PS3. I’ve been waiting forever for these two features and It doesn’t seem like it would be that hard to do because you did it on PS3 but I do not know. Please try to add these features in an update! Thank you.
