It’s almost time for the New Year, and we’re ready to kick-off 2014 in a big way. January’s Instant Game Collection will offer PlayStation Plus members loads of amazing titles, starting off with a new PlayStation 4 title — Don’t Starve. A wilderness survival game wrapped in a cute art style, you’ll take control of a Gentleman Scientist trying to make his way home from a mysterious place. Be warned – this is one of those games where you’ll die a lot, but if you ever get frustrated, just look at how cute your buddy Chester is and I’m sure everything will be okay.
For PlayStation 3 owners, you’ll be able to download three critically acclaimed games – DMC Devil May Cry, BioShock Infinite and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. DMC Devil May Cry is a reboot of the beloved franchise, and while Dante may have received a haircut and a new backstory, his weapons and fighting style should be fairly familiar to fans.

Created by the same folks who brought us BioShock, BioShock Infinite has received multiple Game of the Year nominations. This isn’t your average first-person shooter, you’ll gather vigors throughout your journey that will fling your enemies sky-high or unleash a horde of birds to peck at your foes.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons tugs at your heartstrings as you take control of two brothers (who would’ve guessed?), trying to cure their ailing father. You’ll be handling the sons with each analog stick, so once you get the hang of controlling two characters at once, you’ll need to solve various puzzles in order to save the day.
This month PlayStation Vita owners will be able to download Worms: Battle Island and Smart As. Worms: Battle Island stays true to the classic Worms formula of charming turn-based strategy gameplay. You can customize your wormy soldiers and use crazy weapons to take out the opposition.
Finally, Smart As will become your brain’s new best friend. Run through a series of mind-boggling challenges, and see where you stack up against your friends and other people in the world on the leaderboards. If you practice every day, maybe one day you’ll hit the top.

Even though I bought the Bioshock trilogy on PC during the Black Friday sales, I’m still downloading Infinite on my PS3. I NEED that plat trophy.
Any word on being able to play PS3 plus games on PS4? Or PS3 games on PS4 in general?
This is probably a stupid question but can we download ps4 freebies on ps3 in the event that we plan to buy a ps4 in the near future? I can’t imagine it working that way, but it’d be nice if it were possible since the games I see on it i def want to try.
Also I just became a plus member and this is awesome! For some reason I never really realized the benefits of being a plus member and I can say I like it a bit more than the xbox gold system.

@hobit24 you need to go to the eu plus blog https://blog.eu.playstation.com/ Each region has their own blog and own plus so the games will never be the same usually due to licensing and such. With eu plus you guys get your whole months of games all at once right before the month starts unlike na plus where we get 1 game a week. With the ps4 game not being available is because the game isnt even out yet. I think it hits the store on january 6th which is when you can download it. Youre basically getting the game for free the day it comes out.

Tremendous! I just got a ps3 in November and I’m catching up to a lot of games I never played. I bought a ton of games in GameStop but I’m really happy none of the ones I bought has appeared here on the free games list. Thank you PSN+ for Helping me catch up :)

Well i just got a 3month membership to PS+ for xmas and i will say yes update but i only have a PS3 i already own Bioshock i played the demo to DMC i didnt like it and so Brothers is the only game i be getting so i hope Sony has some great sales and discounts this month. also i hope ND has some Left Behind news for us soon

Infinite takes place before Bioshock so no need to play either Bioshock 1/2 but it does make references to the previous games. I haven’t beaten Bioshock 1/2 so felt good not playing them. But I plan to beat both.

Bioshock Infinite – more pewpew FPS PAAGG (Play As A Gun Game) action. So bare bones made for casual gamers who do not have the attention span to play real video games. Why must nearly every game these days be a stupid lowest common denominator shooter?
DmC Devil May Cry – yes, a game so stupid it has its name in the title twice. A very botched game made by a piss poor video game developer, with clunky combat and Donte is a horrid character.

I’m excited for the PS3 games listed here as I just got a PS3 earlier this month, but the Vita portion is rather meh.
I’d love to see some of the better PSP games added to the list, like The 3rd Birthday or either of the PSP Silent Hill games.
What about me? I bought Bioshock Infinite & DMC just less than a month ago when it was discounted in an offer in PSN store. Same thing with Borderlands 2, Resident Evil 5, ICO/Shadow of the Colossus & countless others. I don’t think I’ll be reimbursed or anything, but maybe Sony should compensate us somehow (those who bought the games already) with some store credit for losing out on the latest offerings. It would also be helpful if we get a preview of what is coming for the few next months, not only for the month ahead like what they did with this ad.

I agree with the other comments regarding the Vita content. It’s a little on the meh side. The Vita now has some great games so why don’t you add some of these to Plus? Unit 13, Little Big Planet, Lumines, etc. Those games have been out much longer then Worms and Brain Whatever.

The only reason I didn’t agree with you at first is because I didn’t have much games on PSN. Now I have more thanks to sales and the freebies on PS+ too. I would like to organize which I got for free and which I paid. Sorry for being off-topic, guess I wanted to say that after seeing your name again. Anyway, about your comments on Bioshock and DmC:
1. Sounds like you hate FPS in general. If you don’t like them, why bother playing them at all? You should expect this after playing the first two Bioshocks. And since this is rated as an AAA title, your taste in gaming must be garbage, not the games. And you probably played the wrong ones like CoD.
2. However, this I agree on. Yes, this game sucks as a Devil May Cry title but it’s at least good as a hack and slash. I personally will never buy this game as I don’t support Capcom, but I don’t mind playing it if I get it for very cheap or free. And if your going to ask, there’s a difference between a game I will play and buy.

This is BS I should’ve kept my PS3 why am I paying for plus with the 4? we get nothing! I don’t see increased network stability nothing interesting is coming out until March. Did I go with the wrong system? A free month of Sony music??? Microsoft has that feature free plus it came with a camera. there is now word on the new move or camera bundle. I’m a Sony loyalist but i’m first and foremost a smart consumer.
My God, this is a great list. A nice selection of some games that I always wanted to play and never were able to. DmC, Bioshock: Infinite, Brothers… One of the greatest lists since I’ve become a Plus member. I just can’t regret it at all, it’s so amazing!
So when will you start releasing games? Can you please provide dates?

This is the (one of many) reasons why I’ve already made up my mind about next-gen and plan on getting a PS4 in the coming year.
The PS Team did a fantastic job for January! Can’t wait to play all those games EXCEPT DmC, still disappointed by that one Capcom. Only a Devil May Cry 5 could ease my pains :). Hideaki Itsuno or Platinum Games anyone?
