The Drop: Week of June 24th 2013 New Releases

On PS3 comes Deadpool, the new action game starring “the merc with a mouth.” PS3 and PS Vita owners get to revel in the gruesome delights of Hotline Miami, featuring Cross Buy and Cross Save, while PS Vita owners get the definitive edition of a classic with Muramasa Rebirth.

Enjoy this week’s The Drop!

Deadpool

(PS3) — “Some of you may know me as the Merc with a Mouth (or the mercenary for hire), what can I say? I have skills! (You know who else has skills?) High Moon Studios has skills, and I hired them to make my game, because they’re awesome, and so am I. But they’re not as awesome as I am, if that’s what you’ve heard.”

Ride to Hell: Retribution (Blu-ray, PSN) — Ride to Hell: Retribution is a no holds barred brawler set in the tumultuous age of the 1960’s. A lone rider, Jake Conway, is locked in a battle to the death against a ruthless gang of bikers called The Devil’s Hand. Jake will employ any means necessary to enact his vengeance: weaponizing his environment, using hand-to-hand combat on foot, and battling it out in high-speed shootouts on Jake’s custom hog.

Hotline Miami

(PS3 & PS Vita) — At $9.99 on PlayStation 3 and PS Vita and featuring Cross Buy and Cross Save, the teams at Dennaton Games, Abstraction Games, and Devolver Digital have reproduced the fast-paced gameplay and super tight controls of the original game. The PlayStation versions of Hotline Miami will also have an exclusive new mask designed by Abstraction and Dennaton Games: Russell the raging bull.

Mura

Muramasa Rebirth

(PS Vita) — Enter the visually powerful and colorful world of Muramasa! Face deadly enemies as they follow your every step. Become Momohime or Kisuke as they journey through ancient Japan fighting samurai, ninja, monsters, and evil spirits. Redesigned for the PlayStation Vita system, Muramasa includes hi-res graphics, enhanced controls, a complete relocalization in English, and more!

Magic 2014 Duels of the Planeswalkers — (PSN) Sealed Play and a new take on the popular Slivers creature type will both make their debut in the Duels of the Planeswalkers franchise with Magic 2014. The addition of Sealed Play will allow players to open booster packs and build decks to play against the AI and other players. Each sealed pool is comprised of 84 cards, mimicking paper TCG booster packs. The PvE experience includes a six-deck ladder where players take on mono-colored Sealed decks each corresponding with a particular Planeswalker, and finally facing a ‘boss’ Sealed deck.

Pool Nation — (PSN) Pool has never looked this good, even in real life. Your cue reflects in the back of the white ball as you perform a sublime jump shot, banking on the side of the table before dropping your target into the pocket to perform the perfect pot. Pool Nation makes the classic game of pool eye-wateringly beautiful to behold. With a variety of table covers that range from the conservative, right through to the downright outrageous, Pool Nation will be as much a treat for your eyes as it is to play.

Spartacus Legends — (PSN) Spartacus Legends is a fighting game that follows the journey of gladiators, from gut wrenching training to raw, visceral combat in the arena, usually ending in death. Featuring thousands of ruthless weapon combinations and a robust skill system, Spartacus Legends allows you to customize your gladiators and mercilessly dismember your enemies, limb by limb. Challenge your friends, your foes or the world-wide leaderboards, online or offline, to forge your destiny and fight for your house honor. Two men enter the arena, will you come out alive?

Motorbike — (PSN) Motorbike is a 2.5D stunt bike trials game in which you use the controller to accelerate and balance while traversing ramps, hazards, and other obstacles. The game features 80 original tracks, thousands of online courses (yes, you read that right, thousands), and 40 exclusive tracks immediately available for download. Motorbike also includes an intuitive and easy-to-use Track Editor, which contains all the same tools we used to create the original levels.

  • I wish there was a deadpool demo up. I’m considering it but not sure if I should wager $60 on rather or not it will be good or bad. Also, You guys should of brought Murasama to PS3! I knew the Vita exsitence would be nothing but an annoyance to console owners. I sure if you werent trying so hard to support it we would see Murasama on the PS3 and I would of bought it.

  • Picking up Muramasa Rebirth: Blessing of Amitabha Edition tomorrow. It feels like I’ve been waiting forever. Bring it!! :-)

  • Muramasa Rebirth collector’s ed. I have pre-order yeaaaaaaaah!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • When will you make more psp and ps1 classics available for the psvita

  • Yay for Deadpool, fun trailer, I look forward to trying the game.

Slow week but maybe we’ll see a sale on something to make up for the maintenance oddness.

    @ boomstickbhg

Why should there be an extra sale as a way of “making up” for the (minor) inconvenience of maintenance? You should know by now (if you’re older than 10) that maintenance is required for pretty much everything in life. It comes with the territory. It’s required. Accept it and move on.

And some advice for ALL the people I see who regularly insist that some form of compensation should be offered for every little inconvenience in life: Try to work on getting your mind away from exploiting every little opportunity for some sort of material gain. It will make you look like much less of a greedy jackass, and more of a respectable human being. Give it a shot, OK?

  • Haven’t got the Drop yet here in Wisconsin when will we be getting it i wanna get Hotline Miami!

  • Oh Deadpool game is already being launched…damn I didn’t know about that…well I’m hoping for a demo because even being a Deadpool fan I’m still not sure about that game.

  • I will definitely pick up Muramasa and Hotline Miami fairly soon.

Not interested in the ones this week, but liking the recent two PS2 classics a week format. Hopefully Sony and other publishers haven’t forgotten that there was a PS1. There are still some classics there I would like to see.

  • @83 duke301 – Brave Story used to be on the Store, but got taken down due to licensing. XSEED actually posted a “Last chance to see!” notice on their Facebook. I’m glad to’ve noticed that and have taken advantage of the SHIFT extended sale. Still not sure of passing up on Turtle in Time Re-Shelled, but at least my brother has it for the X360.

  • One of my two wishes has been granted. Hotline Miami handheld. Now just release GTA2! I saw that updated ESRB rating! ( Seriously playing gta2 as I read this now lol, and it’s tankytank-tanktank-Tanktime. )

  • Though these games look very exiting, how much longer until the PAL version of Ratchet: Gladiator is released? I’m patient, but I don’t want to wait until long after the PS4 is released, y’know. Bad enough that I’ve waited seven years for Kingdom Hearts III and eight years for Sly 4…

  • I really, really, really wish Magic was on Vita. I want it on the go much more than on my TV

  • Why isn’t MtG coming out for PSVita?

  • Not one to leave comments in these blogs, I felt the need to personally thank Sony for having made this week’s drop available prior to the scheduled maintenance (: Way to support your customers! It is the small things such as this effort which keep us with you

  • I would love to see crisis core Final Fantasy VII on the psn

  • Do you guys know if Dead Space 3 and Crysis 3 (both got price droped from 59,99 to 39,99) will maintain their new prices, or if next week will be raised again?
New to the psn drops, sorry if i’m making a stupid question :D

  • This is going to be awesome when i get the games soon
