December 4th PlayStation Plus Update

BioShock 2 (PS3)
Free for Plus members
Years after the events of the original BioShock, a monster has begun snatching little girls and bringing them back to the undersea city of Rapture. Players step into the boots of the most iconic denizen of Rapture (and recent star of PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale), the Big Daddy, as they travel through the decrepit and beautiful fallen city, chasing an unseen foe in search of answers.
Rockstar Games Collection Edition 1 (PS3)
10% off for PlayStation Plus members (Regular price: $59.99, PS Plus Price: $53.99)
An amazing value, this collection features Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, L.A. Noire, and Midnight Club: Los Angeles Complete Edition. Plus members can enjoy a 10% discount on this new release to PSN.

Puddle (PS3 and PS Vita Versions)
50% off for PlayStation Plus members (PS3 Plus Price: $3.50 $5.00; PS Vita Plus Price: $2.80 $4.00)

It’s a unique twist on the puzzle genre and both PS3 and PS Vita versions are 50% off. Please note, this game is not cross-buy or cross-play enabled; so choose the best version for you, or if you’re a big fan, buy both!

  • geez here we go, people were saying left and right oh why don’t we have the titles that europe has? We get some of them in and yet that didn’t help people either!! My only complaint is lately they haven’t been putting out more titles each week than 1 at a time!! Come on PS+!! Let’s get to work on releasing a ton more!!

  • pls give us some christmas free avatar and theme! <3

  • A PSN Plus feature should be a universal PSN account with the ability to access the EU and Japanese PSN stores. I hope one day this is a reality.

  • When are you going to get back to the monthly PS Plus notices? Its terrible building up hype week after week for these disappointing games. If you let us know at the beginning of the month what content you are planning to roll out throughout the month, it would help manage some of our expectations.

Now my only expectation is to see either old retail games people already played or psn titles that are only worth $4.

Would you guys at Sony just be honest for once and tell us that NA is second class citizens as far as Sony’s marketing is concerned. There is no way you can objectively look at EU’s Plus content throughout the last couple months and say that ours are as equal as theirs.

  • @53 that would be nice but it’ll never happen. I’d might even be willing to pay $10 more to access the other countries content.

  • “yeah bioshock is cool and all but…. Europe is getting a badass PS Plus deal
5th December: Batman: Arkham City (PS3)
    5th December: LIMBO (PS3)
    5th December: Vanquish (PS3)
12th December: Big Sky Infinity (PS Vita and PS3)
19th December: Mortal Kombat (PS Vita)
21st December: Knytt Underground (PS Vita and PS3)
please please please do something similar”

    Seriouly, I WANT GREAT GAMES!!!!!!

Bioshock 2 costs $12 dollars!!, Please, give Us GOOD GAMES,!!!

  • Good job but Whats up? The last months The PS+ has a lot of games but in this only one? please more games :)

    • This is a weekly post, not a monthly outlook. Tune in next week, and the weeks after to see what the Plus content will be for that week.

  • @Ryumoau

bc euro money worth more than american and canadian $
so when euro peoples buy a game for 60euro, they actually pay 80$ and im not including tax.
so yes they pay more $ so it make sense that they have a better service.
they pay 30% more than us, so they get 30% more.

and i think here in NA they try to push and help little devloppers that make sometime some really good and surprising psn games.

  • I think I’ll join the complain train here. After seeing what Europe has coming their way this month I’m already disappointed. I was really hoping we’d get Vanquish. That game is impossible to find anywhere! Hopefully we still do. Here’s hoping for a game-y Christmas!

  • @45 lol

if Bioshock 2 is what passes for ‘art’ these days than i guess that word really doesn’t mean anything anymore.

  • Awesome, I’ve been so restrained in my purchases and dedicated towards newer software that I haven’t had the opportunity to get Bioshock 2 after beating Bioshock. Maybe I’ll pick up puddle on Vita as well.

Is there Bioshock 2 DLC? Is it included or at a discount?

  • Sure liked Quantum Conundrum last month.

  • Comparing EU psplus with US psplus won’t get you anything but hurt feelings. Got Bioshock 2 on launch day so nothing for me this week. Hopefully next week well be a bit better.

  • wow again no free games for ps vita now im woundering why i bought my friging ps vita it cost more then ps3 and its crap

  • Are you gonna offer a discount on Bioshock’s 2 DLC? I want to buy Minerva’s Den.

  • Hmmmm.

I generally dislike dark, creepy games. Not a big fan of FP-style combat, though there are some games in that style I like. Played a little Bioshock 2 demo or something, and just kinda … very interesting and neat, but too creepy.

Then again, the new Bioshock Infinite looks awesome. Again, though, not sure if I’ll like it enough to buy.

So maybe I’ll try out some 2 again, and if I like it enough, well then, I’ll be more likely to get Infinite.

  • That’s nice and all. But this is NOTHING compared to what EU got.
We get the short end of the stick again :(

  • @punkmusic2009 Did you miss the update two weeks ago? You just got SIX free Vita games. Maybe they were not all the best games, or games you didn’t already have, but don’t act like you are supposed to get new free games every couple of weeks.

  • Ugh, yeah, Arkham City in the UK? Sigh.

  • My PS+ just expired 2 days ago. Glad I renewed it! Never played either Bioshock (except a demo of #1) so I will definitely pick this up. And good to see a vita game discount. Thanks Morgan and team!

P.S.(to anyone) Should I get the original Bioshock first before playing this one, or can I play it off the jump?

  • First when news of EU getting Bioshock 2 hits, people get the pitchforks and torches. Threatening to get a EU Plus subscription or leave PS Plus all together until there is equality in the PS Plus terms. Now that the US Plus is getting Bioshock 2, one of the titles pointed out by name, people are already grabbing the pitchforks and torches again because the EU is getting something different.

EU Lists their deals for one month, we get one week in the US. There is a very good chance that the US is going to get what the EU got. Give it time, relax, put down the pitchfork and torch and stay awhile.

  • Lucky for you Sony, I got a 1TB hard drive coming in tomorrow. So keep on bring the free stuff.

  • The rapture better not come the 21st. I have a serious backlog of games to play. Xmas is only going to make it worse, and now this? Keep up the good work, looking forward to the rest of the month.

What is this people keep saying about Infinite and getting the original with it? I looked at amazon and they do not mention it.

  • You people comparing EU Plus to US Plus are so damn stupid.

What about that don’t you understand?!

Do you also compare EVERYTHING else you purchase in the US to how it is bought overseas?

Man, you people are such shortsighted entitled nubs.

I don’t see anyone asking for the Plus selection from Japan, WHY????????

  • 74 – They pay for plus, we pay too. They receive better games than we.

No Mortal Kombat for PS Vita? Waiting for it to buy one Vita :(

  • @75 —–NO!

YOU pay for the US Plus

THEY pay for the EU Plus

    They are NOT the same!!!

Please use some common sense if you were given any.

  • Thanks Sony for this good update, but will it be a small update on Thursday with additional content, cause really, US+ for some couple of weeks doesn’t get anything la EU +?! I will be pleased to replay the world of rapture but c’mon I will be more pleased to get some other stuff from 2011 )).

  • 76 – Ok, if I could change and pay for EU Plus, but still with the games that I already got, I will.

Are not same, ok, but why Eur are so much better if the prices are close?

  • And Haro.

Puddle – 50% off for PlayStation Plus members (PS3 Plus Price: $3.50; PS Vita Plus Price: $2.80)

Why the image show a different value?
    What is the correct?

  • Yet another fail…

  • I can’t answer why they are different. It could be licensing, it could be Sony experimenting with content and what drives subscriptions, it could be red tape, it could be that the US has more subs then EU so they are giving better content in EU to get more subs, it could also just be how each division runs.

However, It really doesn’t matter WHY they are different, they are. They were also NEVER advertised as being the same or that content will match.

Did you know that when you order a soda in Europe from a fast food restaurant, even if McDonalds, they don’t serve it with ice! NO ice!! There are TONS of differences between how US purchase things and how EU purchase things, even if they are from the same company or similar products.

I don’t even know why you guys look at what EU gets, it only upsets you for no reason.

If you don’t like the US Plus, go buy a EU Plus subscription.

If you ever travel outside of the United States you would see how vastly different marketing and products change throughout the world.

  • So Europe gets Crysis 2, Vanquish, and Batman f’n Arkham City. We get……Bioshock 2 and a discount on Puddle. Not even the good Bioshock. EU really makes our game selection look weak, frequently.

  • Text Shows: PS3 Plus Price: $3.50; PS Vita Plus Price: $2.80
    Picture Shows: PS3 $5 and Vita $4.

I hope the text is right ;)

  • 81 – If you don’t like the US Plus, go buy a EU Plus subscription.

If I could… But if I do it, a lot of games that I have in US Plus will not work anymore.

  • I understand that this is only a week for us. Morgan as I don’t understand how the licensing of the igc works but i would think it would be easier to offer the same games to all regions. I also understand that different regions have different gaming taste ie: us vs Japanese genres. However I wouldn’t think eu and us is all that different.

  • Great update! Bioshock 2 is a fantastic game, and gets unfairly compared to its ground-breaking prequel far too often. Judged on its own merits, it’s awesome and should be played by all PS Plus members. Love the Bioshock series and, unfortunately, far too many PS3 owners have not played these gems (started off an XBox exclusive). This is a much better selection for IGC than Arkham City, as I assume most Plus members have played AC. And remember, this is the first offering of the month. More to come later!

  • It’s sad that all most people do is complain. People complain when Europe gets something we don’t, then we get RE5, so people complain that Europe received that free months ago. We get games that Europe didn’t get, and people complain that this has been available on disc for cheap. Most of the games that people are complaining about Europe receiving were also available for cheap. People wanted Plus for Vita, and Sony stepped up big time, at no extra charge. They gave 6 quality games, and people are complaining 2 weeks later that there isn’t a new title. If you don’t think you are getting a good value for Plus, don’t subscribe. Take your money, and you might be able to afford 1-2 of the titles that you haven’t bought in the 1-2 years that they have been out, and you won’t be forced to play these “horrible” games that Sony keeps rolling out for Plus.

While I already own Bioshock 2, thanks for adding another quality title to the IGC. I look forward to see what else is added for the month, but I still have more games than I have time to play from Plus.

  • @81

Then make another account, subscribe to EU Plus, and have both subscriptions running.

Just pick one and stay with it being thankful for the content you get. Regardless of what subscription you have, they are both worth the yearly fee.

Cancel your sub because YOU assumed your Plus subscription would somehow match the content of another territories’ subscription plan.

  • im really dissapointed with ps+ lately. free games are good and all, but they are usless unless you play them. im stopping my plus membership untill i see a jrpg up here. sorry sony

  • Note to self: Stop buying discounted PS+ games. They go free about 2 months later. : /

  • hey I just bought this like 2 or 3 days ago at 39.99 can I get some kind of refund or discount please?

  • You’re killing me SONY. You keep offering games I already have and played for the PC like Borderlands, Bioshock 2, Payday the Heist and Dungeon Defenders. None of your offerings even have exclusive content for the PS3 versions that make them worth downloading in the first place.

  • Nothing at all for me, well atleast last week i got 4 full psn games for only 2.50

  • Thank god im both PS+ subscriber US and EU , in that way i’ll never miss any offer , the only thing i regret its i have to choose between my 2 accounts for my PSVITA , please SONY make an update so we can use more than account on the vita system.

  • Bioshock 2 is an excellent game! Anyone who hasn’t played it yet should check it out, as well as the Minerva’s Den DLC.

But Morgan, “would you kindly” tell the Powers that Be to offer the remaining The Walking Dead episodes for free to Plus members, or at least as a significant discount. Otherwise, just getting the first two episodes for free a while back feels like all we got was a demo instead of a full game.

  • Cool, was just thinking of picking up Bioshock 2 after finishing a replay of Bioshock 1.
Doubt you’ll confirm it, but I heard that Uncharted 3 is supposedly one of the free games for December, But what I was wondering about it is how big would it be?

  • It’s sad that the only time Europe has been jealous of the American PS Plus was when Contra Hard Corps was available to us and not them.

  • please give us a monthly outlook on the content like Europe PS Blog does. There is no reason not to. I’d like to know what i’ll get early plus i don’t want to accidently buy something when you guys discount it weeks later (like One Piece and WWE 13 fan axxess). >_<

  • This Playstation Plus Update post is only for this week! We don’t know what we’ll be getting for the rest of the month yet. With that, can all of you over-entitled whiners please stop spamming? Seriously, it makes us gamers look really bad, please stop. And @Betorro, it is obvious you are trolling/spamming. You said the same thing on the first page…
