The Drop: Week of October 29th 2012 New Releases

On PS3 this week, it’s a time of civil unrest and political upheaval in the Americas. As a Native American assassin fights to protect his land and his people, he will ignite the flames of a young nation’s revolution. Assassin’s Creed III takes you back to the American Revolutionary War, but not the one you’ve read about in history books. On PS Move, Sports Champions 2 revives favorite features, including the surprisingly deep and challenging single-player Cup Play and the customizable Free Play mode, plus fun arcade Challenge rounds for each event.

On PS Vita and PSN, you’re a cunning new assassin – Aveline, an assassin of mixed French and African heritage. You must use your skill, instinct and weaponry – including a machete, poison-dart blowpipe, and duelling pistols, to hunt down and eliminate your enemies in Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation.

Also on PS Vita, Need for Speed: Most Wanted is the 19th release in the long-running Need for Speed franchise, and the first for the PlayStation Vita. It hearkens back to the earliest games in the series as players compete in races with police unified against them. Enjoy this week’s The Drop.

  • it’s going to be an Assassin’s Creed 3 + Liberation week for me :)

  • GTA: SA PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Also, this week is really good for vita. Best in a while.

  • Whenever you go to pre-order AC3 or either budle, just after you buy it -but before you confirm the purchase- it tells you that AC3 will be available for download between 11am & 5pm (PST) on October 30, 2012. Is there any chance that is just a precaution and there is still a possibility of a midnight release on PSN. I know I will probably not receive a reply but I figured I’d ask anyway.

  • finally koei is releasing one of their historic sim games but its not the i was hoping for it is still a great game and the only i will be picking up

  • @49 all PS3 version have the 4 exclusive missions of Bennedict et and the mission of George Washington.

  • @43 wow i see it o my god zoe. so your telling me that 360 win and ps3 is poor omg thinks 43 for the info

  • So Lego: Lord of the Rings isn’t coming to PS3 PSN but it is Vita PSN? Well if the Vita version doesn’t turn out to be a DS/3DS port I’ll get it… I’d rather get it on PS3 though… :-(

  • Getting the white Vita bundle this week! Unfortunately I will be waiting to get AC3 which I want really bad, but the white Vita bundle will be enough for now, plus I’m not rich :P I will be getting AC3 before the end of the year though I can almost guarantee it, maybe for Christmas or my bday next month.

  • Looking forward to this weeks’ store update!

  • Been waiting for this week for so long long! I’m looking at Assassin’ s Creed III, Assassin’s Creed Liberation, Need For Speed Most Wanted, Ragnarok Odyssey, Smart As, and Sports Champions 2. Decisions…decisions…

  • guys AC liberation will be around 35.99 on the store if you don’t believe me go check in the comment of the liberation article on the blog.

  • @58IXxHIJACKERxXI
BOTH versions are poor. The frame rate is absolutely horrible compare to PS2 version (which is able to maintain 60fps most of the time.) See here:

    • tinyurl.com/97s4ekr

  • @38 the Sleeping Dogs “Nightmare in Northpoint” is out Tuesday the Drop doesn’t list all of what is coming to the store Tuesday.

  • SONY has also released a good ad for the Vita/Liberation. Haven’t seen in on TV though.

  • Ps vita plus support guys, i need this. I hope its this week or next

  • @73 PS + for Vita is coming in November but,no set date yet so,it could come next week.

  • Totally looking forward to Ragnarok Odyssey this week. My Vita will finally have some play time when that game comes out this week.

Also, how’s that PlayStation Plus for Vita coming along? No rush, but it would be cool to see an update on how things are going.

  • Looks like Ragnorak Oddyessy and Okami are the only thing on psn i’m interested in. Too bad WWE ’13 wasn’t on psn as well. Guess i’ll have to get that from gamestop.

Any word on whether or not the digital version of Ragnorak will get a discount?

  • Damn this week is going to great for me. Picking up Ragnarok Odyssey, Assassin’s creed liberation, and Need for speed. Then Person 4 next month. Vita starting to cruise with games.

But if someone is listening. I have two 32 gb memory cards for my vita, one for games and one for movies. I hate it when I switch the cards it does not remember all the icons I have and when they were located. I have spend time rearranging my icons every time I change cards, leading me to avoid it at all cost. This seems like a major oversight, that I don’t see mentioned anywhere. Am I the only one who can’t stand this?

Please if anyone is reading this bring it to the attention of Sony and the Vita developers. Thanks!!!

  • btw, why isn’t Zone of Enders HD listed? It would be nice if it was released on psn. I only want the second game. The first game is WAY too short. Can’t justify paying $40 for both, when i only want one.

  • @77 would would you buy two of them? They are overpriced as it is.

  • Need for Speed: Burnout on Vita for me.
    :)

  • I’m kinda interested in Toy Story Mania, only because of how shockingly fun Toy Story 3 was. I loved the toy box mode in that game. Too bad theres no demo for it. Hopefully it won’t be more than $9.99. But deep down i know it’ll be much higher. >_<

  • @nycredude No you’re definitely not the only one who noticed that memory-card-switch-reset-problem-thing. Matter of fact it’s an idea on Playstation blog.share so you should definitely vote for it if you want to see something done about it.

  • @bluebl1zzard

Thanks for the heads up and response. I will definitely vote for it. Can’t believe they haven’t fixed this yet.

  • When will we finally get the ps one versions of crash bandicoot and spyro on the US version of ps vita like europe has seen for over a month this slow roll out of ps one games is frustrating

  • This week’s drop is just as good as last week’s. My wallet is absolutely devastated!

  • Lookin 4 forward 2 Okami HD. I miss out on this game last gen.

  • OMG

    ACIII
    Liberation
    Ragnarok Odyssey
    Smart As…
    Okami HD

    So many games!!!

  • Hey who do I speak to about suggestions on the PS2 Classics? I really have had the urge to play Star Ocean 3. I was wondering and wanted to know what I can do about this. Outside of that I’m happy with the drop for this week, not complaining, just wished I could be able to grab that Assassin’s Creed 3 digital content

  • YEAH RAGNAROK!

  • *ahem* Nobunaga’s AMBITION. Not Amition… lol May wanna fix that.

    Also, yay for Okami HD!

  • Assassins Creed =)

  • Need For Speed for me.I need a racing game for my Vita.

  • @59, darth- oh, I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be a port of the 3DS. Terrible engine w/ severe gameplay limitations- avoid the Vita port, people! TT needs to shape up & give us a true Vita Lego title. Go for the Ps3 version instead.

@65, tall- no midnight releases for titles yet. It’s confirmed. Hopefully Sony can get this feature moving for future games.

@77, nyc- yep, it’s annoying. This issue exists because the memory card is tied to the Vita- therefore on every occasion it preloads & resorts all the titles, apps, & icons that are specific to your PSN acct. Needs a firmware fix for heavy data users fast.

  • Gulp, just purchased Corpse Party! Still like $15 away from the “Spend $100 in Oct. & receive $20 in Nov.” promo… I wonder if there’s any cool DLC for Ragnorak? Locked on Persona in Nov.! What a great 3x months before 2013!! =)

  • Anyybody knows when Metal gear portable ops, portable ops+ are coming to compable with Vita along with Peasewalker for psp I bought these games mostly on my account like them for Vita.

  • Imo this is the best drop we got until now this year.

  • Small question and I have a feeling the answer will be no, but will Assassin’s Creed III see a midnight release? We saw it happen with Mass Effect 3 and it did work quite well.

  • Yeah, Okami HD.

I really really wanted ZOE HD collection but I wont get it if it’s done crappy. I still have a backwards compadable PS3 and own an original copy of ZOE 2, which I play once a year for kicks, great game.

AC3:Liberation is a day 1 buy for me but I’ll probally buy a hard copy if it’s cheaper than psn. I dont mind going all digital but the digital copy should be cheaper and Sony memory cards for Vita are at an unreasonable price. I just cant support that cost at the moment.
Great drop this week however :)

  • Im pretty sure i saw news that said need for speed on vita had gotten delayed Rey …. Lol
