PlayStation Plus Update: NFL Blitz Joins the Plus Roster

Last week you welcomed Starhawk’s single-player campaign into your gaming collection for free as a PlayStation Plus member. This week we continue to roll out even more content with NFL Blitz, coming free to Plus! Please note that Borderlands will be leaving Plus with this week’s PlayStation Store update, so make sure you grab it while you can.

Um morgan the reason why ppl are mad is that we were promised something and u guys give us mediocre deliveries where as the EU store ALWAYS gets hooked up, about a year ago, it was the other way around EU was getting garbage and they complained and EU listened, a lot of us in the NA store feel like our suggestions/complaints go unnoticed and we are being ignored. I mean thats one of the reasons ppl envy the EU store, their ICG promise is being fulfilled with full retail games, we get arcade games 80 percent of the time. And i know their is licensing issued and things of that nature, but it still feels like SOA is ignoring what its fans want and thats just bad PR. Its like holiday food.The point is it seems like EU and even JP get like Christmas dinners and we are small dogs getting thrown the scraps they throw away. Not to mention, this is a holiday month in Halloween. Where are the scary halloween themed games?

We’ve delivered on the PS Plus promise of an instant library of games with discounts, and exclusive features. But certainly we can see about what games work best for all gamers, for sure! NFL blitz was great on your former systems, but lets face it – its never been on ur top 10 sold in some time. IF ever. MY whole point with this is plz listen to your customers, and give us some reason to buy ur premium service, Blitz is not one of those reasons, i do think at least youre trying with the polls and i appreciate that. Sorry the rant took so long.

Not much of a sports fan, even sports video games in general but NFL Blitz is one of those games that’s an exceptional. I’ve been wanting to play that game and glad it’s going to be free tomorrow. I am itching to play an NFL video game so Blitz will do. PS+ weekly update is a good idea but it seems somewhat little to me. Can’t you guys have more updates if weekly is where we’re going for? Otherwise, the two weeks thing is gonna kill me just for waiting again. Also, since PS+ is coming to the PS Vita soon, I seriously hope you guys don’t make Little Deviants for free. That would be ridiculous.

ANd the problem with ur train of thought is we are the only region getting treated like small dogs at the adults table, the ICG is working for EU and JP- so why do they get free games every month- are u saying just cuz we buy the whole year we dont deserve awesome content every month? Or are u saying that the other regions are better than us? Either way the NA region is getting the short end of the stick, its sad really, and by NA i mean mostly the USA.

What did I say? Every new feature is red meat to the complainers. Plus has changed since the beginning so I can’t remember if we even got any games back in the day. I remember we got Qore, may it rest in peace, a few avatars & dynamic themes & frequent discounts, but I just care about the cloud storage. I don’t think that was a day 1 feature, was it?

Anyway, I buy the games I want & don’t even have enough time for my huge backlog so I generally don’t download most of the IGC anyway.

For all of you SCEA haters, why don’t you just let your 3 month membership expire & buy a SCEE Plus instead? Seems like a simple solution. I recently bought a one year Euro Plus. You don’t need to be Stephen Hawking to figure out how to do it.

Even though I certainly appreciated the free full Borderlans gamee through Plus+, I still believe that extending Plus+ to the Vita was far more important than anything offered in that list.

And I don’t even own a Vita, however, this will definetly tip the possibility of getting one if more features such as this are added to it.

@Skiedragon81 Whether SCEE is giving better Plus games than SCEA is another debate completely, and really the only thing worth debating. They’ve probably gotten a total of about 2 or 3 more Full Games total than us since E3 right? B/c we had more in the original collection IIRC. Of course I would like to get Dead Space 2 and Motorstorm Apocalypse. It’s always worth debating and voting on what types of games we would like.

we dont hate SCEA, we just want a bit of equality is all and why pay for two ps plus memberships, then again i was a bit spoiled, my job takes me into japan a lot lol And when the new features gives us at E3 were only a PR stunt to pull more ppl in. its hard to swallow sometimes, as a paying customer we have a right to say what we feel its that whole pesky freedom of speech thing lol Oh and for the record im a yearly subscriber!

Liking the poll thing, I hope the information is helpful.

I like the variety of smaller titles (Outland) I get through Plus in addition to some occasional big hitters from yester years (Borderlands) so my only caveat is that I hope it doesn’t push Plus into only being about one big hitter a month. As quite frankly Borderlands is great but Outland is the real gem out of nowhere for me this month. :)

I am very happy with plus, so naturally I worry about changes to it.

For those that think SCEE is better, think again. 6th week in a row and still no word about CS:GO. They sound real good right now don’t they

I think this is a great week. Been meaning to try NFL Blitz, heard good things about it. This is what I love about Plus. It’s a great way to try games you wouldn’t normally play and still get great deals on new and old content.

I’m not sure why there is so many vocal whiners on the games they give for free. I think the service has been pretty varied on what they give. It seems each week/month there is a completely different experience to be had. Sure different people have different tastes, so sure some months will have updates that seem like a dry spell, but for all the complaints, I would like someone to please list a better way to spend $ 50 on xbox Live or Nintendo’s service that will give as much as variety as Playstation Plus.

As for the poll, surprised to see Borderlands so high after the amazing Playstation Plus sale of the game last year the game + all dlc for only $20. Although, i stated before, you can’t please everybody at once, I’m curious to see a survey on here containing different genre of games people want to see most of here for Plus in terms of discounts, betas, and free games.

There’s a serious lack of the raddest game of 1987 on that poll. DD Neon would have been the game of the month if not for coming out the same month as Tokyo Jungle.

Wow, reading a lot of these comments makes some of you people seem really greedy. “The game I wanted wasn’t part of the IGC so I’m not renewing my subscription”, or “The EU Playstation Plus members get “x” game and “y” and we only get “z”, so we’re getting ripped off.”

Really? Are people really complaining about free games now? Some of the games people are whining over (like Red Dead Redemption) have been out for a while now anyway and either a) Are really cheap if you can find a copy, or b) have had numerous sales, sometimes including the DLC in both retail stores or on the PS Store.

So instead of whining maybe we can get over it and be grateful for what we do have. Besides Thanksgiving is coming up

Another Plus update post and the comments section is filled with complaints.If you dont like the games that are offered then dont subscribe.Plus isnt only about the games you get with it it also comes with a gig of cloud storage that I wish i had when my first ps3 died and DID have when my second died and was so thankful for.My plus just ran out sunday and I have to wait til friday when I get paid to renew(damn having to grow up and be resposible)But i will be drooling all week thinking about Blitz friday night when I get home and log in to start my download.I remember all the good times back on N64 and in the arcade at the movie theater on Blitz. I will say there are some games they have put on plus that I dont care for but thats why you dont HAVE to download them.

You do make a good point. It was a PR stunt, but that’s what all of E3 is. We need to apply common sense when we see a PR stunt. We are shown a great IGC (relatively great. I haven’t downloaded anything from that initial IGC). The thinking person realizes it can’t always be like that or Playstation will go bankrupt & we’ll all lose our Plus freebies. The rest will think “oh, boy, it’s gonna be Christmas every week!”

And, read the Euro blogs. They also complain about their content & wish they could get some of ours. Except the Europeans aren’t as doggedly rude as our NA brethren.

I think people should be allowed to speak their mind and if they don’t like the content they are getting they should let Sony now everything they released for E3 on instinct games was incredible but yes I owned it all. but I was very happy to see people getting those awesome games borderlands was an amazing game on instant and even though I don’t like this weeks game I hope they continue doing a good job

I’m so confused. I keep reading complaints about how the games offered in the IGC are older games….and then I read complaints about how EU PS+ have Red Dead Redemption and Dead Space in their IGC, which are both older games. It’s unrealistic to think that PS+ will make EVERYONE happy. Quite frankly, if you’re not happy with the service, no one is making you pay for it. Since I’ve signed up for it though, I’ve played some pretty amazing games that I otherwise would have never tried, let alone buy. Warhammer comes to mind. So thank you PS+ for giving me access to some really awesome games. I will definitely be renewing my membership for the new year.

O Everyone who complains that Euro Plus and/or Xbox has better options should just go away & play those “better” options.

That’s the other drone that bugs the shi-ite out of me: They have it on Xbox so why can’t SCEA? I have an X, I paid $60 for Live & the only exclusive I’ve gotten for free is constant & very loud advertising. Oh, & I got to buy a super buggy DLC for Skyrim. My X is gathering dust, although not as bad as my wii.

Some ideas for PS+ games

Deadly Premonition – Only made it to the states on 360, but had a PS3 version in Japan.

Earth Defense Force Insect Armageddon – Not the best EDF game, but a good game non the less.

Resonance of Fate – Overlooked RPG

Binary Domain – Most underrated shooter this gen.

Yakuza – Any of the games would be good picks.

@144, Sevyne, I agree. I too was disappointed in not getting Trine 2 (until we did) & now Deus Ex, but no big deal since I have a huge backlog.

@ Blakseed, yes, I gave the X a fair shake but other than voice command there is no reason for me to buy an X version of a multiplatform game. And they have very very few exclusives that I would want.
