Dude you must be a complete moron. The whole idea behind digital distribution was to CUT COSTS! The publishers dont need to spend money on discs or operating factories to produce products. This in turn would also give at least somewhat of a discount to the consumers. The problem is they didnt and they continue to not. Therefore a lot, myself included, will NEVER buy into the digital distribution as my main way to purchase products.
Not only does it cost the same, sometimes even more expensive, to purchase digital you have to also factor in the inability to play all/any of your games at any time because even your 500GB harddrive cannot hold my whole game collection. And yes I can download them whenever but there again you have to wait sometimes HOURS to play the games. Where as my physical copy I can play instantly.
Thanks but no thanks, digital distribution might have a small following but will never take off as the main production of ANY product that being any game, music, movie or book.
Nice!! love how your begining to do this on launch games but bad side my internet isnt that quite awesome either how big in memory is Doom 3 BFG?
This is cool for those who buy games the day of, and don’t mind spending extra. Personally I wait a month and get the same games for $40 or sometimes less. I often wait till I can snag new games for $20, which usually happens within six months (Best Buy sales are good for this). Meanwhile, the same games will still be $60 on PSN. There’s just no incentive. Saving a few bucks as a PLUS member isn’t worth it when you have retailers offering $20 gift cards with new releases.
@ItaChu
It’s launch was announced yesterday on this site. It is available in stores and has been all week.
That is not day and date, is it?
and GTA 3 also comes out today violent23 …. but you go ahead and remind them of that remote play stuff ;) with that im with you :)
Will there be preorder bonuses? If not im not cancelling my preorder from Amazon.
OMG THIS IS SO FREAKING AWESOME!!! i was worried that Doom 3 wasn’t going to end up digital. This along with games like Need for Speed, RE6, and Dishonored kicks. Is this something that is going to be a constant thing from now on?
I appericate this new level of the service considering i’m trying to make my gaming collection all digital. It keeps discs out of the way of destruction of a one year old boy lol
Keep up the good work guys. I’ve been quite pleased with how PSN has evolved over the past year.
Well since RE6 wont have a preorder discount Ill just stick to physical copy…. as for Most Wanted… looks like Ill be cancelling my gamestop preorder and grabbing that digitally..
By the way will the PSN digital version of Most Wanted be the Limited Edition we get in stores (gamestop) for preordering?
yeah violent23 launch was announced yesterday its September 25th today and the store updates today which means? itll be there this evening :)
If possible, I recommend getting the Playstation credit card if you regularly purchase from psn. You get 10x point for every psn purchase (thats pretty much 10% money back). You can redeem the point for many Sony product or psn code for $10, $20, or $50 (point is 1000, 2000, 5000). If a game is already 10% off + another 10x point back that’s = $48.60 for each game. which is a real deal there. Oh yea and u get 5000 point after your first purchase. Free $50!
I agree with all people that complains about digital games prices, but is not Sony fault, it’s publishers one. At least we’re getting those games on Day 1 as digital copy, for people like me who lives outside USA is a lot cheaper than import the disc version.
and LBP Vita was supposed to begin selling in stores today, but some bozos started selling it last week, Thats not Sonys fault, games come out tuesday and the store updates tuesday evening ….these are things you should know by now buddy lol
Glad to see Sony finally getting the message that there is a high demand for all full PS3 games to be available on PSN.
…obviously there is still issues regarding parity between PSN prices and retailer prices, but hopefully as things move forward that issue will be addressed fully, right guys?
oh yeah and one last thing …. start working on that psn update people lol i want my marvel vs capcom origins today! lol
it’s on its way!
