Killzone Trilogy on PS3

Like the Collection line-up so far, the original Killzone has been treated with the signature 720p HD makeover, along with full Trophy support.

In addition to Killzone HD, the Trilogy also includes Killzone 2. Act 2 in the series brought an even more ambitious sense of scale, storytelling and action to the franchise. Finally, the breathtaking last installment — Killzone 3 — rounds out the set. It’s an endless cinematic warfare experience in one jam-packed bundle.

  • There is a god! Between the Vita being able to Remote Play the other collections (GOW AND Ico/SotC) and this, it has been one heck of a good week for Playstation gamers. I assume that the KZ Collection will probably have Remote Play features out of the gate, being as they showed the VIta playing Killzone 3 at E3 last year. Can’t wait!

  • Hey, I think I will pick that up.

  • Remote play? PSN version of Killzone HD?? Killzone HD online multiplayer features???

  • Nice! I’ve played KZ2 & 3 recently enough that I don’t need them, but I will happily buy an HD’ified version of the original Killzone by itself (PSN download) to re-experience, and… Trophies! :D

  • So how about a SOCOM Collection? SOCOM used to be Sony’s top IP and now they disregard it as a pile of trash. SOCOM needs to be remade and restored to its former self.

  • This is a another great collection – thanks.

If remote play is made available, and it’s coupled with a digital version of KZ2 and KZ2 (campaign and MP) that would definitely be another purchase of KZ2 and KZ3 for me. Remote play with a disc version hampers the idea a bit for me.

Either way I’ll be getting KZ HD or possibly this collection for the map packs seeing as I have 2 and 3 already.

    Next up Resistance Collection Please!!

  • Although this is a fairly unnecessary gripe, it whoever something to consider: Can you guys start putting the entire collection on a single bluray… and making the digital versions available day 1?

  • The 1st Killzone is a classic style story-driven shooter with little or no MP right?

Could you please put a digital version on of it on PSN as I dont give a rats’ ass about Killzone 2 or 3. Thanks.

  • Weird, I don’t see a Killzone HD or a Killzone Collection poll on the Share Blog that has more votes or comments than the Socom 2 HD one. Also of note, the Socom series has outsold the Killzone series.

Yet, here we go again Sony, a HD Collection of games no one wanted, yet Socom fans have been asking for one for the past 4 years, and we get ignored. Way to go.

  • Killzone HD. Finally. Thank you very, very much Sony. Keep these collection coming. How about SOCOM? Fatal Frame collection?

  • I think that I’ll pick this up, and give my copies of KZ2 & 3 to my younger brother (since he’s never played them, because he doesn’t get to many games). I don’t think that he should miss out on older games that were good, just because he’s looking forward to some upcoming games, plus it’ll give him a couple more games he can join me in when I feel like going online.

  • This is great for people who haven’t played the Killzone games yet, or just played one. But since I have both 2 and 3, I only want to the first one. Is there anyway the first Killzone in HD be sold separately?

  • Awesome…I may have to pick this up. I’ve never played the first Killzone, beat Killzone 2 but don’t own it, and my copy of Killzone 3 stopped working after the latest patch and I’ve tried everything I could think of.

  • I am really excited about this. This is a day one pick up for me. I only recently discovered Killzone series after purchasing the Killzone 3 multiplayer download on PSN. I like it better than the other FPS out there. Being able to play the trilogy from the beginning will be awesome.. Thanks!

WHERE THE HELL IS A SOCOM TRILOGY! Is Sony actually blind? Have they not seen the blog share? Have you not seen the raging fans that have been left to play nothing, instead campaigning for you to sort out a decent socom game? Sort it out Sony! Killzone 1 didnt even sell a million. Socom 1 sold 3.6 million!

    Sort it out! Please :)

  • You know what game needs a HD remake??? How about the number 1 requested game on the blogshare SOCOM 2 HD .

  • $40?! That’s a steal! Gonna get this for sure!

  • SICK!!!!! I’m Buying it can’t wait KZ1 in HD!!!!!!!!
Just 1 thing what about the PSP game why isn’t with the Collection

  • is Killzone 1 is in 3-D??? weird might buy this;) Scoom VS Killzone fight fight fight!!!!! it would be EPIC!!! wont be playing this on vita no 3-D

  • Will the HD version of KZ1 be released at retail? I won’t buy a digital title…

  • This is sweet. But after this can we get a SOCOM 2 HD or trilogy of Socom 1-3. I mean the Socom 2 HD blog poll is only one of the most requested games to be remade…. But in all honesty, I am pumped for the kill zone HD collection. Just bring Socom also….

  • Yes, YES, YESSS!!!!!!!!!! My parents wouldn’t let me play Killzone on the PS2 because I was only 10 years old, but my 18th birthday just passed… I WILL FINALLY GET TO PLAY IT! :D

  • Any chance of the Killzone Liberation PSP game getting added into this? I know its a long shot, but after the GOW Saga getting the upgraded PSP titles, why not?

  • oh, and another thing.. PLEASE dont give a voucher for the KZ HD (I know it probably will be anyways) I’ve had PS3 hdd issues before and dont want to have to download a whole library of games again..

  • AWESOME!!!!!

  • i HATEEE first person view. these do look tempting though. is there a option for 3rd person aswell ?

  • Wow I just read that the 1st Killzone has a 40 hour campaign and multiple playable characters with different play styles?

  • will Killzone HD be released also on PSN??? I already have KZ2 and KZ3: Collectors Edition, so I just need the first one :), even though I still have my PS2 copy.

  • @77: No, there is not 3rd person option.

  • Will all 3 games be on 1 disc (or 2 discs)? I already have Killzone 2 & 3, but I’d buy this if all 3 games are on disc.

  • Killzone 2 is my favourite FPS. This is awesome. I hope it really brings back the community and now that everybody has those wicked DLC maps there should be lots of people playing them.

  • @ PainOfSarrow

If you have a PSP you should try KILLZONE LIBERATION, which is 3rd person and pretty good for a early title :)

Please give us remote play for the HD remake of Killzone. I think the Vita can handle it. I already have KZ2 and KZ3 and all the map packs, but I will pick up KZ when it comes to download.

Once again: Please add remote play to Killzone HD.

  • This is just another great example of Sony listening to what the customer wants. Hell I would have bought KZ HD for $40 alone but to through the other 2 in plus DLC… pure awesome. Thank you Sony.

  • Please release a Resistance Trilogy next! I really want to play through Resistance: Fall of Man with trophies!

  • Please tell me all 3 games are on the disc. I’m not a fan of dl vouchers.

  • I hope all 3 gets platinums so I can hit 500 platinums faster

  • @Ken’s reply to #4

yes it would, trophies do not enhance the experience in any way. if anything, it’s the opposite, the pop-up and its “ding” sound are nothing but distractions that break the immersion.

  • Glad you guys went with the HD remix for the original Killzone game instead of releasing it as a PS2 Classic as originally intended. I remember the game did have technical issue from it being a bit more than the PS2 can handle, have you guys made any adjustments or fixes for it’s PS3 release?

  • Where’s the TimeSplitters collection?
    How about the Hitman Collection?

  • @Ken Chan i knew this was going to happen xD now you need to release a Resistance Trilogy pack too!!.
btw can you please tell me if KZ2 and KZ3 come in separated discs? i would really really love that instead or just one disc on the pack you put the 2 games in their original boxes like you did with uncharted dual pack please please sony make that i’m one of those dudes who loves see the individual box for each game with their manual and disc instead of just 1 box with everything!!

  • It says move compatible, does that mean KZ2 and KZHD will have move support? And might I add, KZ1 looks so amazing in HD!! Awesome job Guerrilla! :-)

  • @ Ken Chan:

First off, thank you for announcing this collection — it’s one many of us hoped would be included in this remastered series.

But I do have a rather important question…

Will ALL the content be included ON the BD disc(s) themselves in this collection — the games, the map packs, and any other extras? In other words, NO vouchers…?

If consumers are being sold a physical disc-based retail collection, we expect EVERYTHING will be physically included on those discs. SCEA desperately needs to understand that if we wanted these games as digital DLs, we would purchase them as such. A slip of paper with a code just doesn’t cut it under these circumstances.

    [Cont. on #95]

  • [Cont. from #94]

The use of vouchers in lieu of discs is a major problem for many gamers with the recently-released “God of War Saga” and “inFAMOUS” collections. It’s also looked upon as misleading marketing/advertising, since NOTHING on the packaging even identifies the inclusion of any such vouchers. (This was also contrary to the statements of Sony’s Cristian Cardona – Associate Product Marketing Manager, Software Marketing – who clearly stated in this very blog: “All the content is listed on the back”, when specifically asked about which games were on disc vs. on voucher. Yeah, sure…)

The new “Journey Collector’s Edition” is an excellent example of a retail game compilation done to absolute perfection; future PlayStation Collection sets could certainly benefit by following this sterling example.

Many thanks in advance any answers your can provide… and the best of luck with this “Killzone” release!

  • Actually NEWBOLD, though KZ1 was panned by many reviewers it still moved over 2million units world wide. It is considered by many that actually started the Killzone universe experience w/ KZ1, as the best Killzone Single Player campaign. Socom1 was a great game & the franchise continued it’s greatness with S2. However, just cause Socom1 moved 1million units more than Kz1 doesn’t mean Kz fans shouldn’t get this treatment and if you’re honest with yourself, you’ll know that Socom hasn’t really been Socom since Combine Assault but many would argue since Socom2. Chill, I’m sure Socom HD will be coming but for now, don’t be a brat and spoil the fun for Killzone fans. You wouldn’t want the same treatment from sourbrats when SOCOM HD gets announced would you?

Thank you Sony Playstation for listening and catering to the gamers – your fanbase.

  • About time! Killzone is a great game. Glad to hear the audio bugs have been fixed.

  • Wow! I’ll definitely pick this up! The only Killzone I have is KZ3 Multiplayer, and I’ve been meaning to pick the other 2 up.

  • I hate to say “I told you so” to all the cry babies who on a weekly basis complain about Killzone being pulled as a PS2 classic at the last moment and not being mentioned again. It was just common sense that anyone who actually played Killzone 1 on PS2 would’ve figured out if they had any reasoning skills.

Killzone was WAY ahead of it’s time, or should I say ahead of PS2’s time. It was limited by the hardware, and if released as a PS2 classic it still would have had the same slowdowns, lock-ups and other issues the game was originally notorious for.

A PS3 remake will show people exactly why Killzone 1 fans like myself and some others still consider Killzone 1 to be the best in the series. Obviously not graphically, but in every other way. The most varied environments (single player and multiplayer), best weapon selection, secondary fire on (almost) all weapons, multi-layered story with various characters to play as.

In this age of HD remakes, Killzone 1 is by FAR the best candidate because it’s really the only HD remake so far that was truly held back by PS2 hardware. Thank You GG and Sony
