  • To the people having a canary about ps1 compatability/availability, if you purchased a ps1 classics game on your ps3 you will need to redownload the game from psn onto your ps3 and then transfer the game from your ps3 to your vita through your content manager on the vita. I believe if you do not own a ps3, you will only have access to the ps1 classic games available on the vita psn store. Harvest moon, parasite eve, and darkstalkers all work on my vita, flawlessly. Happy gaming!!!

  • I want to request that Sega port their Dreamcast titles to the vita. I can’t wait for another space channel 5, it’s corny, but so addictive!!! I would like to see the original space channel 5 come to the vita. And sonic adventure! I’m really happy to see jet grind radio coming in october! I love sega games, they’re so bright and colorful. Vita should be all about unique Japanese oddities, like shenmue and seaman, ecco the dolphin, and knights.

  • Why did touchscreen support for PSP games on PS Vita not include rear touchscreen support?

  • Alright I decided to bite the bullet and pull out my ps3 the games I have installed now are so far:

(Installed and Tested to Be Working)
    Wild Arms
    Final Fantasy Origins
    Final Fantasy VI
    Final Fantasy VII
    Final Fantasy IX
    Legend of Dragoon

(Yet to be Downloaded and Tested)
    Final Fantasy VIII
    Legend of Mana
    Chrono Trigger
    Resident Evil Directors Cut
    Resident Evil 2
    Resident Evil 3 Nemesis
    Wild Arms 2
    Breath of Fire IV

(Not Able to be Copied and Installed)
    Final Fantasy V

  • great update.!!:)

I love the new control to navigate the UI.

ps1 emulator is awesome; all my ps1 games works great on the vita.
    (destruction derby, jumping flash, reloaded)

Hope we finally get remoteplay of ps2 and ps3
games in the next update. (come on!! you showed
us killzone3 working on remote play before the
vita launch. now where is that feature?!)

  • Okay, well first I wanna say I love the Xbox 360! It is by far the best home gaming system and the new Internet Explorer app works like a dream. So clear and smooth it gets no better. Internet on a gaming system done right ,which I am using to make this post. I couldn’t do it with the ps3 due it crashing every few mins. Also would like to add that it is a beta update. Nothing beta has ever worked so well with Sony. Look for the new dashboard update this fall. Okay, the ps vita topic…Yikes, there’s really not much to say. I own a ps vita and I wanted the system to do well. I really did. Xbox live is so great I really don’t feel bad about owning a ps vita. It’s greatness makes up for psn’s short commings. To the psn users love you guys and keep ur heads up. Sony will get it right some day.

  • Dear Sony, the new firmware 1.80 for ps vita looks very awesome. However, it may needs little smoother as it looked little bit rough while booting up the system such as system stability and also needs fixing on PS button thing as for the blue light to be turned off after the battery level gets very low like it did on earlier versions so that way the ps vita users have a chance to turn off the system safety instead of ps vita goes off by itself without the PS button light goes off first before the system does. Also the new version needs fixing because on the PC on the ps vita system properites, it only shows the ? on battery source level. I also want to let Sony know that I will be 34 in 5 days away as of this coming monday and Sony probably might be closed for the labor day as of my guess. I also been dieing to have more PSP games for my ps vita such as fat princess: fistful of cake, metal gear solid: portable ops, metal gear solid: portable ops+ and patapon 3. I also agree with other peoples on here that been wanting a 64GB memory card for the ps vita. Hoping sony would make one in the future as that would be totally awesone.

  • Just tried FFIX on Vita… the emulation is ok but the texture filtering is plain awful. It’s just the same ps1 emulator for psp running through Vita… o_O
If I play the game on PS2 you get a better result, the texture are really filtered, here they are just… don’t know… washed away. It’s not just a resolution matter, it’s how the filtering is managed by the PS2 and the psp/vita emulator. Vita have enough power to emulate the game better than the PSP and the PS2…
The developers must improve the emulator over time.

  • Dear Sony. I don’t have a PS3. Give me my PSOne games on Vita store as you promissed.

  • Guys,

Do you checked that the PSP emulation become more faster?
    Is it improved?

  • why is that eu psn got 129 psone games and us psn only gets 9?

    is eu psn just better.

  • Perhaps I’m in the minority, but when “next-gen” consoles are released, I have difficulty going back to earlier iterations. Maybe it’s just because I become more accustomed to the overall look and feel of the current gen… and the only thing more appealing than “current” for me is “next.”

Now that doesn’t mean that previous gen games are inferior. I just can’t bring myself to playing something today that I originally played back in 1998 when there are countless current-gen games that look, play and sound better. Now if I were younger and never experienced certain generations of games when they were originally released, then maybe I would feel differently about the prospect of going back a few gens to capture what many considered a grand achievement in game design. But I’ve been around since the 2600… so to me, it’s all just old hat.

  • Does anyone know how to set the analog stick to control the dpad as a custom control like I can on my PSP? I don’t see that option in the custom control section… I see that I can change it from dpad to analog IF the game itself allowed that, but no where in the custom control section can I change the dpad to be analog. I can do this on my PSP…but not my Vita? Anyone know how? I feel like I’m going backwards with my new system.

  • gldoorii makes a great point. the Vita lets me tell the right analog stick act as the face buttons for camera looking in some PSP stuff, and twin stick aiming/shooting in stuff like Age of Zombies in the minis.

i would like to play FFVII with faux analog controls, simply for ergonomic comfort and familiarity. every time i replay FFVII, after years, i always am reminded that it was made before the Dual Shock and Twin Stick controllers, and is the only PS1 FF that doesn’t support the old analog on/off set up.

i would also like to be able to map the start and select buttons, please. in the way that PS1 games throw me off by using O to confirm and X to cancel, I would prefer if I could map TRIANGLE to START in cases like FFVII where it opens up the menu.

    honest, non-angry feedback.

  • Well, now I’m glad I traded my Vita in.

After 6 months, we get 9 games, EU gets the 100 that was promised, and all the promises made for the Vita AT LAUNCH were broken.

    Ragnarok Odyssey is still missing.

Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters is still missing completely.

Phantasy Star Portable 1 and 2 are still missing completely.

And not a single rep. from Sony will respond to 14 pages of dissatisfaction and inquiry.

I now can confirm that all people at Sony actually dislike Vita owners.

Just keep your psps and sell your Vitas. There’s no point to this any longer and Sony abandoned us long ago.

  • You guys still need to work on making all the digitally released psp games work on Vita.

  • Sure hope you’re reading all of these comments Sony.

I have invested over a thousand dollars on my Vita, keep pissing off users like this and eventually you’ll see tons of second hand Vitas being sold online, mine included.

Good job with the memory card lock thing btw, now I have to constantly backup and restore my memory card until you drop the price of memory card or introduce the 64GB card with rip off prices as usual.

    *thumbs up*

  • wheres legend of dragoon on the ps vita store sigh my money is waiting for u guys to take

  • Thanks Sony! Now because of Update 1.80, I can’t record YouTube videos to my Video App! Really? Now I can’t view videos from the blog on my Vita! Sucks!!

  • As mentioned above, you can transfer from PS3 all the PS1 games: http://www.ps3blog.net/2012/08/29/vitas-new-firmware-offers-more-ps1-support/

  • The update is suppost to allow the copying of Itunes playlists onto the vita and I would like to know how that is done. I appologise if this has already been asked but I am not wading through 14 pages of people whining about PS1 Classics.

  • @hyenapaws Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters works i downloaded it on my ps3 and am playing it right now

  • Man, some of you guys are real pricks. Didn’t your mommies teach you how to speak in a civil manner? I suppose you feel real powerful behind a keyboard and fake name where you don’t have to be accountable for your words. Also, I purchased Final Fantasy IX and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver from my PS3 PS store and they transferred over to my Vita through Content Manager just fine and they play beauitfully. I don’t know if that applies to all the PS store content but it does mean there are a LOT more titles available than you can currently see on the PS Vita PS store. Some of your idiotic and insensitive comments make me think the better part of you were dropped on your heads at birth.

  • I love all these butt hurt little sony guys who act like sony is some girl they’re going out with and they found out she wasn’t faithful to them. The comments are hysterical. I’m a loyal sony customer, you lied to me, I invested all this time and money and you let me down, you didn’t keep your promises. I’m breaking up with you now, you’ve lost me forever and I’m going to buy a 3ds now, blah, blah, blah. Yadda, yadda, yadda. Too, too funny.

Sony is a company I do business with, if they do things I like, they get my money, if they don’t, they get nothing. Real simple, no drama.

I’m not happy with a number of ways Sony does business. Some of their behaviour is inexplicable, but like it or not, what’s being done here IS progress. Slow, painful, progress to be sure. But, still progress. This is still, by a large margin, the best dedicated handheld on the market, and I sure in hell am not going to revive my psp go or pretend the 3ds is even in the same league as the vita.

  • Please do some kind of a poll or something so we can tell you guys what games we want to make compatible with PS1 games. I know there is some workaround with the PS3, but what about your customers who don’t own a PS3, or (Like me) had their PS3 get the Yellow Light of Death? Sure, I could shell out $150 bucks to get it repaired, or $200-$250 to buy a new one, but I don’t have the cash to do that yet, and even if I did, I probably won’t because I rarely play PS3, and when I do, it’s for PS2 games. I’ve come to accept that have only nine games available to us from the marketplace, but could you please let us at least choose the games we want to come out earlier than others?

  • is there by any chance a way we can set the sreen size or even use the analogs while playing a ps1 classic game?

Yes. Press and hold the touch screen to bring up a menu. You can change screen size along with going from digital analog.

  • @ 675 massimodo

Dude, I freaking love you. That comment made me crack the hell up so much and I needed those laughs today.

  • to adjust your controller for ps1 classics on the vita just long press the center of the touch screen and the menu will pop up and config your screen and controller hope this helps

  • sorry just notice someone else already answered the question i answered

  • @673:

I tried to download it onto my PS3 and PSP last night but I couldn’t find it in the store at all. Did you just recently get it or was it from an earlier download?
I didn’t see Phantasy Star Portable either but that might be intentional.

@674/675: I realize you love to play the sweet little fangirl to Sony, but when I’m coerced to buy something based on some what was advetised, and then told later how most of it was never true, then I have a right to be displeased.

If you’re happy, great. We do not have to share your opinions.

675: Are you actually calling people pricks and talking about people being dropped on their heads as babies while also demanding that those people speak in a civilized manner? I guess we could follow your example, except you just did exactly what you complained about, including posting powerfully behind a keyboard with a fake name where you also don’t have to be accountable for your actions. Fail. Try again when someone cares about what you think of them.

  • @674/675: I realize you love to play the sweet little fangirl to Sony, but when I’m coerced to buy something based on some what was advetised, and then told later how most of it was never true, then I have a right to be displeased.

You use terms and have no idea what they mean. Unless sony put a gun to your head and made you buy a vita you were not coerced. I love it when someone attempts to act intelligent and winds up looking anything but. Coerced? Too funny.

  • @683:

Ahh. A know it all. Excellent. Everybody’s favorite thing to see is when someone argues for the sake of arguing. Especially when that person will look for one terminology or grammar mistake from a post and point/laugh about it. Correcting a single word as a rebuttle is the same as saying “I know you are.” Congrats. You’ve reached Troll-level

I know what coerced means (I have no need nor desire to prove how intelligent I am to a forum troll), since your single google search doesn’t bring up the only definition that exists. If you want to point at everyone else’s posts to insult them and call them “too funny”, then do your research. Or just go away. That works too.

Since you’ve nothing useful to add, even after I already said that we’re both welcome to our opinions regarding the Vita, I’m done with this conversation.

  • ok, thats good to know that theres more than what they list.
a couple issues i have with the ps1 support are as follows:

make them full screen, or at least an option to do so
and there should be a menu of sorts like the ps3 has, as a way to access the systems configs for said game
and why doesnt the joysticks, or at least the left one, work?

these are, so far, the only issues i have with the ps1 support. other than that, its all good!

  • Im a bit confused on how to set up the cross-controller. Can some one tell me where to get the software and how to set it up???

  • oh wait. another reason for the “menu” is for the purpose of disc switching. on games that require this, it is impossible (or at least to my knowledge) to be able to progress past the first disc on multi disc games.

  • Hey, hyenapaws, before you go away all butt hurt, applying ointment to your sore rectum, tell me the alternate definition of coerce. What, sony perpetrated some massive conspiratorial fraud to get you to buy a vita. What, you can’t do some research before you buy a product. Instead of taking responsibility for your own actions you act like a sulky little child looking for others to blame for your own errors in judgement.

The only troll here is you, coming into a post about a system software update for a system you no longer own, to tell people how glad you are traded your vita. If that’s not trolling, what is.

  • Hey Sony… you may wanna update your Vita firmware page to say 1.80.

  • I’m getting tired of these stupid comments. People are basically saying I brought the Vita so I can play PS1 games. REALLY!? The reason Y there’s a PSVita is because the PSVita has it’s own games like Gravity Rush which is an excellent game in it’s own right? I under playing games on the go, but this is getting to the point of actually being really dum. If you people really wants some nostalgia, why don’t you c@%ksuckers dust out your PS1’s and play your PS1 games ON your PS1

  • Do your own search. I’m not your mom.
Again, I’m free to post my opinions and thoughts, regardless of how much of an a$$kisser you want to be, since apparently your tender sensibilities were offended at any negative talk of the Vita.

I don’t go to where you work, kicking the $%&*s out of your mouth. So don’t try to act like some authority on the matter here, on top of trolling and grammar-correcting., by telling people how and when to comment. No one cares if you don’t like it.

Your fascination with butts is a little disturbing btw. Although I admit that I receive compliments on mine at the gym from guys. But no, its not sore. Not because of you at least. :)

  • The Reason why I bough The Vita is that I could play PS1, psp and hope for PS2 titles ” as Promised by Sony with PS one titles.

UNTILL the sales goes high and then more developers start working on vita.

Ya know what, Sony is doing us a favor :) but limiting the game 9 or even less every week, so it will hold off ppls from buying it untill next eve or even after once near 100 titles are out and even better a price cut :D /due to slow sales.

I know some excellent titles coming to vita soon in the upcoming months / LBP – All-Star – Rachet full assault.

BUT, I can’t shake the feeling that we they will be ruined up again by Sony’s logic ;p

So far no red post ? strange. com’in Sony let us help u out.

  • For anyone who gives a damn, sony just added 26 psone classics for direct download. Hyenapaws, I’m so glad you get off on getting compliments on your butt at the gym. Hysterical.

What cracks me up is the following. If I’ve gotten conned or hosed by a party, I don’t admit it, because that makes me look, really, really stupid. What you’re telling people on this blog is that you, wiley e coyote, super genius, got hosed by sony PR. Think about it.

  • Great NEWS EVERYONE :D

    http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-Vita/PS-Vita-Gets-26-More-PS-one-Titles-More-Coming-Soon/m-p/38126993/message-uid/38126993

    Now 26 more titles .. well old 9 titles + 15

They even fixed Nuclear and Soviet Strike gamed :D and can be downloaded via Vita Store

I am raged with happiness and going to buy RE 1,23 , FF 7,9 to show full support and ofc pre-order LBP vita cos I started to have faith

Please Sony, support all PSone titles on vita in all region regardless to what every complication and support all missing PSP titles already. REWARD those who bought the vita and waiting for it’s games to happen/arrive.

Finaly, more price cut in majority of PSP titles to encourage us.

Sorry That I doubt u will release more than 9 games every week ;p … that’s 15 games in less than a week with a bonus ( S-N strikes )

  • Yup! :) I enjoy compliments. Its nice to know that maintaining my figure is working. Same for waist, legs, etc. Met a lot of cute guys that way. And girls for that matter. So… hysterical? I guess. Not sure why you find everything you see either too funny, a crackup or hysterical, though. Or maybe distract yourself from the one word you chose during 14 pages of text. I think someone needs to get laid.

  • @massimodo,

Request where you got the information of the 26 PSone classics for direct download? There aren’t any showing up in the Vita store other than the original 9…

  • Disregard, just saw it on the forums. Hope Sony roles em out this quick consistently…though I still want the rest of my FF games and Resident Evil games ASAP!

  • Please make Nuclear Strike and Soviet Strike compatible with the Vita. Still like to play the “strike” games going back to desert strike. Btw, is there a chance the “EA Replay” game for the PSP might be released digitally? That game had “desert strike” in it. Thanks!

  • Hey thanks Sony! You’ve read my mind! Just checked the new list of ps1 games and am downloading both Nuclear Strike and Soviet Strike now!

  • I dig the new update. I would love it if there was themes we can have for the menu tiles, maybe even dynamic themes also. Hey and even a way to rip some of my PSone games into my PS3 and transfer them to my VITA so I can play Megaman Legends 1 and 2, or even if they cut out whatever licenses is holding it back from being re-released again, re-do the voice-overs, or some music(whatever it is), Re-Master it in HD, and release it for the VITA, that would be awesome.

  • This is fantastic and stuff, but will we ever get the chance to have the Vita use the XMB? I hate the look of the icons, plus you can not control saves. If you delete the game gone is the data with it.
