As the celebration of Ratchet & Clank’s 10th Anniversary has unfolded this year, we’ve received your anxious e-mails, tweets and Facebook messages asking us when you can get your hands on the Ratchet & Clank Collection in North America. Today, we can tell you the remaster of three original PS2 Ratchet & Clank games will be available at retailers and via PlayStation Network on August 28th for $29.99!
The Collection features 1080p HD remasters of three PS2 Ratchet & Clank classics: Ratchet & Clank, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, and Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal. In addition, these three games have Trophy and 3D support (in 720p), and the fine folks over at Idol Minds have restored online play to Up Your Arsenal. At last, those who missed out on competitive R&C gameplay during the PS2 Network Adapter era can finally check it out!
We realize that the Ratchet & Clank Collection is arriving in North America a bit later than it did in Europe and Japan. To reward you for your patience, we’re giving you exclusive first access to the Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time demo when you purchase the Collection. If you love Ratchet, you probably love Sly, and the Ratchet & Clank Collection will let you test drive Sly’s new time-traveling adventure starting on August 28th. As an added bonus, you’ll receive a special Ratchet & Clank 10th anniversary avatar!
We can’t wait to for you to get your hands on these three remastered Ratchet & Clank games, the Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time demo and the 10th anniversary avatar on August 28th. In the meantime, keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook pages for the latest on the Collection, as well as the newly announced Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault!
Like others have said, a demo? Really? That’s what we’ve been waiting three months for: an opportunity for Sony to market another, similar-type game to us with a demo that will likely be free at some point for everyone anyway?
Telling us our wait would be worth it because of some special surprise pre-order bonus was a huge mistake. There is nothing special about this. I pre-ordered for nothing (even my pre-order price of $30 turned out to be nothing as that’s the same price for everyone.)
Really looking forward to this!
Insomniac i like sly and pre ordered Sly 4 so im glad for the demo. But why are you being so secretive about Ratchet Deadlocked, its already been confirmed for release in HD on PSN. All i want from you guys are and answer, is it part of the collection as an add on or a completely separate purshase.
i normally don’t comment on these.
this is really a slap in the face of the extra wait you should of just released the North American version with the rest of the worlds we all would be happy. a demo and a avatar is really bad to wait for. which the demo would be pointless when the actual game is released. what should of been in was a box that was not pre order bonus and it would of contained the original games box art (just as a statue) , have a case that changed on the box art. so you saw all 3 games cover depending on how you looked at it. i would of gladly paid 49.99-60.00 for just those 2 things. that is a special wait. not disappointing demo and a avatar that can’t really be shown off.
I can understand why some people may be disappointed with the Demo. But I ain’t I’m even more excited now, in fact i was thinking of buying it much after it’s release now I;m getting the collection as soon as possible. Can’t wait to play the demo (unfortunately even more than the collection). Ratchet and Sly are easily my fav game series. Reminds me of the UYA and Sly 2 demo years ago. Thanks!
@ken_kimura
the Sly demo surely can’t be the “something very special to celebrate the 10th anniversary”. Dragon’s Dogma didn’t need any celebrations to come with a demo of Resident Evil 6.
Also, the demo will eventually end up on the store. Very special?
I know about the Sly-Ratchet-Jak thing, but it doesn’t make any sense to celebrate John’s birthday with a new picture of Mike. Sure, Mike’s friends might like the surprise, but…
Maybe the avatar is REALLY awesome, who knows?
Wait, so we get one of the finest trilogies of all time, plus the demo for Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, plus a 10th anniversary R&C avatar for only $29.99?!?! There should be no excuse for anyone to pass up on this! I will definitely be getting this day one.
BTW, to the people complaining about getting a demo as an “added” bonus, please just stop pitching in your thoughts. You’re just digging for something to complain about and it’s quite childish. The main thing about this collection is that it contains the original R&C trilogy for only $30 (which is cheaper than most HD collections). The fact that they’re throwing in an early demo for Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time is by no means something that should be taken negative.
In the words of Daniel Bryan, and I quote! “YES! YES! YES!” :D
Hopefully the extra wait for the North American release will give us fixes for some of the bugs I’ve heard are present in the European release.
alphabetical PSN game sorting please!!!!!!! please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
why can we only sort by creation date and recently played?
So the whole reason we had to wait for our version to release was for a silly demo disc?
A demo that we’ll be able to download for free at some point? Very lame. Beyond lame even. A demo is not wroth the wait. Epic fail on Insomniac for this one.
I’m bummed it’s not Deadlocked, but I love Sly so I’m happy.
And wow, people hate Deadlocked that much? I loved it. It may have been different, but it was awesome regardless.
SWEEEEEEET!!!! I can’t wait for the Ratchet & Clank Collection to come and the demo of Sly Cooper: thieves in time with this game, I love both Ratchet and Sly games. Happy 10th anniversary Ratchet & Clank!!!!
@55 Thank God somebody else realizes that this is the “Ungrateful generation” that demands a lot, and it is nearly impossible to please! This is the cheapest HD collection to ever come out and comes with a free demo exclusive to the US. buyers, end of story.
The demo’s cool but something’s still not 100% clear. Is this demo exclusively for pre-orders?
James said before that North Americans will “definitely want to pre-order” and correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think that pre-order bonus has been revealed yet.
Not exclusive to pre orders, but limited in quantities so you’ll want to make sure you get your copy!
