Ratchet & Clank Collection Hits August 28th With Sly Cooper Demo

As the celebration of Ratchet & Clank’s 10th Anniversary has unfolded this year, we’ve received your anxious e-mails, tweets and Facebook messages asking us when you can get your hands on the Ratchet & Clank Collection in North America. Today, we can tell you the remaster of three original PS2 Ratchet & Clank games will be available at retailers and via PlayStation Network on August 28th for $29.99!

The Ratchet & Clank Collection for PS3

The Collection features 1080p HD remasters of three PS2 Ratchet & Clank classics: Ratchet & Clank, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, and Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal. In addition, these three games have Trophy and 3D support (in 720p), and the fine folks over at Idol Minds have restored online play to Up Your Arsenal. At last, those who missed out on competitive R&C gameplay during the PS2 Network Adapter era can finally check it out!

We realize that the Ratchet & Clank Collection is arriving in North America a bit later than it did in Europe and Japan. To reward you for your patience, we’re giving you exclusive first access to the Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time demo when you purchase the Collection. If you love Ratchet, you probably love Sly, and the Ratchet & Clank Collection will let you test drive Sly’s new time-traveling adventure starting on August 28th. As an added bonus, you’ll receive a special Ratchet & Clank 10th anniversary avatar!

  • …I love you.

  • Has the online been fully changed to fully implement PSN? Like friend invites and all that? My dad loved these games. I bought all three for him. Then I eventually loved them myself. I’ve been hoping for a full experience like these on the ps3 with online and all. But I guess I’ll have to go back and play these.

  • Even if it’s not gonna be free with the collection, you guys should still put Ratchet: Deadlocked on PSN; Remastered or not. PLEASE REMASTER THOUGH, I WILL GLADLY PAY!

  • I know its off topic but i wanted to let my fellow gamers know that unchained blades now works on vita if you transfer from a ps3! :)

  • I am very interested since I missed out during the PS2 days! Is this serious more “actiony” than Jak and Daxter? I bought the Jak collection but it was very platform based and I just could not get into it so I sold it.

  • $29.99!? GREAT PRICE!!! Unlike some other recent game collection previously released based on survival horror…

  • @102:

Its much more action oriented IMO.

My first ever Playstation game was Ratchet and Clank: Up your Arsenal. I enjoyed it so much, I still nostalgia over the slugs in those sewers taking my time to 100% it.

I’ve had Tools of Destruction for a while as well but haven’t finished it. Was waiting for this to pop up again so I have a chance to play through everything chronoligcally. Then I will get A crack in time as well.

Am I the only one who gets a headache from playing All 4-1? I’m not saying its bad, its just that replaying through it gives me headaches. The coop part was awesome, but too bad its so linear.

  • So, um, yeah, uh, where’s the Sly demo for Vita?

Also: R&C Collection is day-one for me, sirs.

  • And yeah, I’m happy about the price of 29.99 USD, (hopefully the same price in Canada), but I would have preferred to have gotten it earlier like EU without the Sly 4 demo (I don’t import either).

Kinda dissapointed with the surprise, but I guess we were all too excited to begin with. I especially detest timed exclusive stuff as I feel this is going to appeal more to Sly fans and introduce them to the R&C series rather than introducing R&C fans to Sly. The demo should have been released to everyone at once on PSN, but hey Sony sells more copies this way so more $$$ to them.

Which reminds me, after playing through Sly 1 since it got on PS+ a few months ago, I forgot to purchase the trilogy T_T’

  • Now, I’ve gotten big on buying the HD collections digitally, but do these bonuses come with just the retail copy or will they also be included with the digital version? That’s the difference between me buying a playstation store card tomorrow or stashing money away for the end of August.

  • How come Deadlocked isn’t in the collection?

  • It’s good that they will be separate as well, I’m only interested in UYA. Any word on a date for Deadlocked?

  • I might get this eventually… $30 isn’t much, but HD remakes are just OK.
the sly demo is meh for waiting 2 months…. considering PS3 games are almost always region free I can see this being imported from england.

  • Just curious, would it be possible for R&C Collection be ported to the PS Vita? I heard awhile back that the Jak & Daxter Collection was and I would kinda love it for my favourite childhood games make a debut on the PS Vita. :)

  • So what’s the catch? $29 + 3D Support, MP Support, Trophy Support + 3 HD Remakes and Sly 4 demo… WHERE’S THE CATCH?? Is the Sly 4 demo only for PS3 or could it be downloaded on the PS Vita?

  • Will the US version have any bug fixes included? The collection in the EU is really buggy (especially UYA).

  • @Spike-123
Go back to that YouTube video and read the description. I made the same mistake.

  • ok… what if you live in Europe how do you get the demo then?

  • Any chance of the other R&C games coming out in HD? Like R&C: Gladiator + the PSP games(the Clank one to) :P

  • Insomniac games has been hyping up this announcement to be “HUGE”. This is the complete opposite and Would be nice if Tools of Destruction got patch with Trophy Support as well :-/

  • when the new sly cooper is close to coming out can we get it as downlosd able pre order cuz that would just be awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is great, no doubt, but I have such a huge back log on the PS3 and nothing for the Vita. Games like this is why I bought the Vita.

  • @117 snakeeyes insomniac posted a blog a while ago and a comment from insomniac explains that tools of destruction never ever “asks” to connect to psn so trophy patching it is impossible. Plus, it’s a 5 year old game.

  • @JAMES STEVENSON:ster
Fan question: am I crazy or does PS3 Ratchet look different from PS2 Ratchet? They both look different somehow in both games and in renders/cover art, but I can’t place why.

Customer question: will the box art for RCHD have an unsightly “Sly Cooper demo!” logo on it? Because Infamous 2’s case had an Uncharted 3 beta logo on it and it’s just unsightly especially since Uncharted 3 is out now (both great games btw)

Last question: Is your first reply here a hint to a Deadlocked/Size Matters/Secret Agent Clank collection? Make it so! I otherwise have every Ratchet game except SAC and that my Size Matters was stolen!

  • They should just put every game except ps3 games in it, even if you didn’t like the last few game at least you have more to use. right?

  • I only played the first 2 PS2 R&C games, so I’m definitely looking forward to finally getting to try out the multiplayer component of Up Your Arsenal.

  • Now this is what I’m talking about! Comin out a lil late for US but Its still epic! Can’t wait to get to play these games again… Ahhh the memories ^_^

  • I’m a Fan of Sly Cooper series. And I and many others that don’t live in north americ won’t be able to play the demo, something we wait for years and now, you say “North Americ” only?
Unless the demo is released with the Classic HD globaly or in PSstore this is an ultrage and disrespect with people of other countries.

    Sadly,
    Tran.

  • Will Deadlocked be with Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank in a collection? Also will we ever get a collection of the 2 Jak and Daxter games: The Lost Frontier and Daxter?

  • @spacerac If you like being a sheep and listening to lies that’s okay for you but the truth is if they can put trophies into the ratchet and clank collection that is a lot older than five years they can put trophies into tools of destruction don’t be fooled by that BS. They’re putting trophies into metal gear now and it’s four years old don’t believe everything you hear

  • Oh I guess they couldn’t had trophies to resistance cause it didn’t go online hint hint I understand the developers don’t want to go back and waste your time adding trophies to a game they already sold and the only thing that they would gain is fan loyalty from it but usually not a dime and at the end of the day they all work to eat. but saying you can’t is an unacceptable answer cousin in most cases probably all of them you can add trophies

  • If purchased on the PS store, will the Sly Cooper demo and the free avatar be included, or are they codes in the box copy?

  • How much will the games cost separatley? $10 like the Sly games, or $15 like the Jak games?

  • @ SnoochyBoochiez:
At this moment the only way to get Sly Cooper: TiT demo is by buying Ratchet and Clank Collection.

  • Cool. I was originally gonna buy this used but now that I see it’s only $30 I’m going to buy this on release. I never played the original games either so this’ll be nice!

  • No Vita port? No purchase.

  • This really annoys me. The following is extremely petty but I’m going to rant anyway.

I was really hoping that the delay to the US was because Insomniac intended to put Deadlocked on the blu-ray. I know that was based entirely on my own expectations so I have no good reason to be let down but I am. I don’t like digital distribution. I like having physical copies of games. I want Deadlocked, Quest 4 Booty and Full Frontal Assault all to be on blu-ray(s).

I know it costs the company more to release them that way but I’ve got money. I’d pay $10 – $15 more for this HD collection if they put Deadlocked in it. I’d pay another $40 for the 3 digital games on a blu-ray. Heck, I’d pay $20 a pop for just a blu-ray containing Deadlocked and/or Full Frontal (assuming it’s a full game and not a tenth-of-a-game like Q4B.)

I doubt anyone from Insomniac will read this but if you do: please release a physical copy of each of these games. I’ve got money that I am willing to rain down on you in slow motion. Give it some thought. I’m sure others feel the same.

  • Wow! Sly 4 demo is awesome. But my favourite game collection (Ratchet & Clank) coming so soon?! And for $29.99? THIS IS A STEAL. I can’t wait.

  • will the demo code give a playable vita demo also?

  • I think they were going to give us another ratchet and clank game but at the end they didn’t.and because it’s called the collection and not the trilogy. If they were going to put three games it would’ve been the trilogy just like it is in other countries but instead they called it the collection for reason things that make you go#%+*=#%^{]{}#+~#}*+%

  • WOW!!! Really looking forward for this. Gotta love the HD remakes…it gets you to relive that awesomeness all over again and in HD…come on out already Zone of the Enders….

  • Okay so i guess it’s pretty obvious by now, there will be an extra bonus other than the sly 4 demo if you pre order the game because in an earlier article one of the developers said we would want to pre order it. In addition someone on this article posted asking what the pre order bonus would be and if deadlocked would be released. one of the developers replied and said that deadlocked details would emerge soon but said nothing about the pre order bonus. To me it seems like they’re now trying to hide that there will be a pre order bonus. And if they do have another bonus, I think they might reveal it with the new trailer they will come out with.

  • @140: Um, Sly wasn’t called a trilogy, nor was Jak. That’s just the way that SCEA releases them here. I guess their marketing research shows that NA likes the word ‘collection’ more than ‘trilogy’. I don’t know. Trilogy sounds better and makes perfect sense to me. Meh.

  • Can i stil get the Sly demo if i purchase the collection from the PS Store ?

  • Us USA players waited this long… just for a demo? Oh my god… Facepalm

  • Im not getting the collection now… i was only going to get it IF it was worth it. Its not. Add deadlocked to the american disk as the bonus, THEN it will be worth it. Until then, not worth it.

  • Btw its not fair for other players who are in other countries who waited for sly cooper 4 to come, they wanted the demo. Only us americans in USA get the demo. Not fair and not cool. Not worth it at all. Insomniac is dying to me… Ever since you abandoned spyro that was strike 1. Releasing the crap R&C All 4 one was strike 2, strike 3 was breaking away from sony to make… FACEBOOK GAMES and now this… Oh my.

  • im really looking forward to this collection. i’ve never really played the original Rachet & Clank games before. how in the world do you do it Sony? is it just like converting a movie that came out in the 80’s on VHS and later on DVD and to blu-ray like the jurassic park movies? because i’ve got good idea for your next HD collection: ok, actually I don’t but i’ll think of something later!

  • Is there going to be a Pre-order bonus ?

  • *sigh* ok Sony, i couldn’t think of another HD collection. you guys seem to have covered everything. but I will suggest this: Sonic Heroes on PS2 classics. I heard Europe has it. also, how about Sonic Adventure 2 remastered in HD with “Battle” DLC on PSN? AND AVATARS!!! I NEED ALL YOU CAN PROVIDE!! GIVE ME A SIGN!!
