The Drop: Week of July 9th 2012 New Releases

Update: In this post, we incorrectly reported that Mickey Mania would be coming to PlayStation Store. There are no plans to release the game on the North American PlayStation Store as the game only supports PAL video output, which is incompatible with North American television sets.

With NCAA Football 13 for PS3 and as a full digital download on PSN this week, experience the pride and pageantry of gameday Saturday like never before. Go from high school superstar, to top college player, to head coach in Road to Glory and Dynasty modes. With a new passing system, new team-specific traditions, and the Heisman Challenge, make an impact by leading your team to the National Championship.

PSN exclusive Rainbow Moon is a Strategy RPG from the makers of the hit Soldner-X franchise. Cursed by his long-time enemy, Baldren founds himself warped to Rainbow Moon. Baldren isn’t only stranded in an unknown place – he has also opened a dimensional gate, out of which troops of monsters are crawling, turning this once peaceful planet into a real hell.

Also on PSN, Quantum Conundrum arrives and Mickey Mania: The Timeless Adventures of Mickey Mouse is a PSone classic, both ready for download on this week’s The Drop.

NCAA Football 13 (Also on PSN) — With a new passing system that changes the way quarterbacks and receivers play and respond, combined with a new read and react defensive AI system, NCAA Football 13 delivers greater realism on the virtual gridiron.

PlayStation Network

Rainbow Moon — The residents of Rainbow Moon who have found themselves in this sudden and unpleasant situation react suspiciously and even nastily, which certainly doesn’t make things any easier for our brave hero. There’s only one thing for Baldren to do: he has to seal the gate and warp himself back to his home planet. This is easier said than done, since the gate can only be sealed by a dimensional gate staff and no such object is available anywhere on Rainbow Moon. However Baldren knows that he can create one if he finds the right materials. He needs seven magical artifacts, said to be hidden deep inside Rainbow Moon’s dungeons.

Quantum Conundrum — In the first-person puzzle platformer Quantum Conundrum , players must use the unusual ability to shift dimensions to navigate the twisting corridors of Quadwrangle Manor. Players take on the role of a young kid dropped off on his uncle’s doorstep for the weekend; his uncle just so happens to be the brilliant, eccentric inventor, Professor Fitz Quadwrangle. Upon entering the Professor’s vast manor home retrofitted with crazy technology to test his latest hypotheses, players quickly realize their uncle has gone missing. Fortunately, players soon gain access to Professor Quadwrangle’s latest invention, the Inter-Dimensional Shift Device, which, at the press of a button, will shift the world around them to an entirely new dimension. In order to find him, players must use the newly found IDS Device to dynamically change the world to and from a variety of different dimensions to progress through the complicated Quadwrangle Manor.

Game of Thrones — Created in partnership with author George R. R. Martin, this role-playing adventure is inspired by the author’s award-winning, international bestselling A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series (better known under its first book’s title, A Game of Thrones.)

Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition — Frogger’s coin-op thrills are back and better than ever in Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition! The arcade excitement of Frogger returns in time for its 30th anniversary celebrations with updates that are sure to delight fans old and new.

Get Up and Dance — Get Up And Dance is the ultimate dancing game for everyone to play, whether you are the star performer or prefer to stay out of the limelight as a backing dancer, Get Up And Dance is for you. Featuring everything from classic funky disco tracks to current chart hits, all complete with their official videos, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

  • i want jet set radio!!

  • Another week and no Retro City Rampage, sigh…

  • Look at all that Vita content. Can’t keep up with it, so much stuff. Psffff!

  • JET SET RADIO

    WANT NAO! NAO NAO!

  • Oh and Alphabetical Sorting, when are we going to get that? Do we seriously not have alphabetical sorting by now? WTF?????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????????????????

  • @6, top questions! Fingers crossed that someone will address them.

@49, oh I’ve waiting to play that! The press has been really positive w/ it so far! Sometimes The Drop doesn’t list PSN releases but reserves the announcement for the devs here on the Blog. Now crossing my toes for Retro City & Zen Pinball for the Vita this week!

  • alphabetical sorting please

    please?

  • rey i have question. I want file it down is that honda sbk racer ps2 game the 1st ps2 classic to come dwn or.?

    thanks in advnace

  • Was Mickey Mania ever released in the US for the PlayStation? I only remember it being releaed for the Sega CD, back in the day…

  • @neuropunk I agree with you about the sorting, but you really do not need to post it 4 times.

  • I gotta say I wish you guys would pick better PS1 and PS2 classics. It just seems like you pick random games out of a hat, regardless of if anyone actually likes them. The Motorcycle game is some old low rated PS2 game I never even heard of.. how is that a Classic, exactly?

  • Suggestions. 1. Bring on the Vita content We really want rpgs with strong story lines we def want a tales jrpg. 2. The Ps2 title line up is weak at best if you need help deciding what games put up a poll Im sure people would be all over stuff like final fantasy 12, Legaia 2 and grandia 2. 3 when vita gets update 1.8 ps1 compatibility you guys really should have a huge ps1 sale I would probably pick up all Final fantasys , Chrono trigger, Chrono Cross, Grandia and legend of dragoon if the discount is good enough.

  • VERY cool week, especially because of Rainbow Moon! Can’t wait to download that! :)

apparently i do since it has not been fixed yet and nobody has ever gotten a response to this question. thinking about spamming it until I get an answer. i mean it’s freaking ridiculous 5 years later and the most basic most popular form of sorting isn’t available and it drives me crazy.

So, the PSN team needs to add this in a firmware update soon, and we need a response to this.

  • I’m with Neuropunk on this, we really do need this feature and it’s almost embarrassing that it hasn’t been addressed. Also, maybe one day they will release something for that one thing they put out a few months ago… what was it called again? the Venus… no, that’s not it, it’s been so long that I don’t remember what it is anymore. I remember it being something that was supposed to be pretty awesome and had some cool features. What was that thing called? The Verata?… no, that’s the second word you say before picking up the book. OH! I remember, it’s the Velveeta!

  • Yeah, seriously, they should have just called it the PSP2. Aside from it lacking good RPGs, just the name itself makes me not want to buy one, when it should have just been named the PSP2.

Anyhow, the PSN team is going to keep on hearing about alphabetical sorting from me and others until we get a response. I am not going to give up on this and it will happen more and more until they give a solid answer.

  • Mickey Mania!!!!

  • Dang it! Put Disgaea as a PS2 classic.

  • And really, what’s going on with the PSOne classics? Are they really already at the bottom of the barrel? Little Mermaid last week and some Mickey Mouse garbage this week? Did anybody even remember that these games ever existed? How about “D”, Silverload (ok, yeah, I’m probably the only person on earth that remembers that one, but it was an awesome game), any of the Clock Tower games, or even put some things in the import PSOne section like Policenauts or Snatcher. Also, another gripe that I’ve brought up countless times, have the prices of the digital downloads be at least the same if not cheaper than the physical copies. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is $19.99 anywhere you can buy it new, on the PS Store it is $29.99. Sony, I only get angry because I care. After seeing misstep after misstep with the PSP and seeing you make those same missteps now with the vita, it’s worrying me. You can do better than this.

  • I’ll be picking up Rainbow Moon when I have the moon. So very much want that game.

And as for the importing crowd, there’s not much this week. There’s lots and lots of budget releases. The only new game is Time Travelers hitting the Vita this week.

  • Mickey :3

Not sure if that one is good though, will check out some videos of it.

  • Rainbow Moon on Vita please.

  • Watching all the teasers and trailers of Rainbow Moon makes me want to play Disgaea all over again. Now where did I stashed those….

  • I feel like I wasted my money on a PS Vita. It would be great if there is The Sims 3 game for it then I would be playing hours on end.

  • Why didn’t SONY start the PS2 games to PSN years ago(when they took out PS2 playback out of the PS3’s. very sad day that was for me)? I know we have had a few brilliant PS2 HD updates tho but i would of loved all PS2 games on PSN by now(+ the PS1 games) But i supposes it isn’t that easy to do :D

  • The PS2 was known as the RPG console. When are they going to start releasing more of them on psn?

  • Oh, and work on Wild Arms for PS2 Classic releases. XSeed said it was up to you guys at Sony.

So get to it. I want all of Wild Arms series on PSN, and then Media.Vision can get on making Wild Arms 6 for Vita… *dreams*

  • @ # 72 – no idea. yeah, you would think that Sony would care more about RPGs since JRPGs put the PlayStation on the map in the first place with Final Fantasy VII. Nowadays the genre is treated like garbage and Sony just cares about exclusive generic shooter games. Wish we could have some first/second party Sony RPGs. Sony should quit with the garbage shooters. So many shooters. Shooters are tired and need a nap.

  • Speaking of sorting.

PS Vita’s store needs a tab/section for sales.

And on the PS Store in general, would be nice to have a ‘sort by price’ option.

  • nothing vita AGAIN! how has it been long now? seriously, i think you broke the record for not giving a *:(* about something.

  • Anyway, Where are the GOOD fighting games in the PS store? We are missing great games like King of Fighters XIII, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Tekken 6, Soul Caliber V, Blazblue Continuum extend, and Street Fighter X Tekken! I was all hyped from watching evo this weekend that I was going to buy a couple of fighters but your store is sorely lacking in that department =/ . Why don’t you have these fighting games and when can we expect them?

  • @#3

QC may look like a kids game but I think some of the puzzles are a little harder than portal. Mainly because once you find out what you have to do you second guess yourself if you don’t pull it off correctly. Also the platforming sections are a little of a turn off, I hate doing timed jumps in first person view.

  • I’ve said in previous posts, please quote the prices.. most of the time i will not bother to go to the store just to look a game or add-on up to see how much it costs unless it was actually something i was looking forward to.

This means 99% of the time that i will not even look at any new releases due to this… please post prices.

  • Amersonjr2YAHOO

sony not punting stuff on the ps vita again that it i may trad my ps vita in today.

  • Are there any plans to put crisis core or KH BBS on the store. Those were the two biggest releases on the PSP, and I am shocked that they haven’t been put online yet, especially since that means that go owners are pretty much screwed.

Nothing great IMHO this week, but then again, I probably wont have anything to look forward to until the releases of Liberation, Persona 3 golden, and the ratchet and clank hd collection.

  • @78, this is only a post that lists the releases for the week; prices & sales are always posted on Tuesdays.

  • YES!!! PS2 Classic: Hannspree Ten Kate Honda SBK

I saw a lot of people asked for this game! really excite to buy it.

  • GunGriffon Blaze for PS2 classic please!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I wish if the next update u put yo gi oh fm for ps1 classics and sonic heroes in ps2 classics

That all . Too easy right ?

  • for some reason I thought Zen Pinball 2 was coming this week …. allowing cross play between the Vita / PS3 …. maybe next week ….. as others have mentioned, it seems the Vita is again, all but forgotten.

I had purchased the add on tables for Pinball Arcade & did delete it from the PS3 still no trophies for the 4 new tables on either system …. is it something specific to me, or did no one get trophies for the add on tables ? any suggestions as to how to get them would be appreciated …. :-)

  • I remember playing Mickey Mania on the SNES. I never realized there was a PS1 version! I’ll be snagging that and Rainbow Moon this weekend for sure!

  • I love being a PS Vita owner.

  • @ Elvick_

Aint that the truth. i dont get why we needed a whole different PSN Store for the Vita. it should have just been like the Psp. where it was PSN just taken out all of the Ps3 titles. But who knows maybe this is just a temporary format for the store, and we’ll get a redesign of it hopefully close to how the Ps3/psp store is.

  • Hey Rey, i hate to be a pest, but i have some questions that i really think Sony needs to address for its Vita fans.

Can we just get a clear explanation as to why new PSP releases are not available to play on the Vita when they are released? I have been wanting to play Gungnir, Unchained Blades, and soon Growlanser, but the first two still arent capable of being played on the Vita, and i highly suspect the 3rd one wont either.

Can we just get an answer from Sony? I understand if it is a long drawn out process, etc, etc, but we just want info. I’m a huge Playstation fan, but if the Vita fails, it will be Sony’s fault at this point, as they arent giving customers a reason to buy it. I mean, why would anyone buy a PSP when they could get a Vita and play Vita games and PSP games on it? The PSP is dead in NA, so you really need to focus on getting EVERY PSP game playable on the Vita.

    We just want answers…

    Thanks.

  • Any chance of Koudelka being released on PSN? I would love that!

  • @LionFranco I might just be making this up, but I’m pretty sure the reason is that they are testing them to make sure there isn’t some code in the game that makes the Vita hackable like some of those older PSP games. I think they’re ready to work with the PSP emulator it’s just hacking crap and waiting for Sony to flag it as transferrable.

  • sony will u guys ever make ps1 games downloadable on the ps vita? sorry to say your remote play doesnt work that good and i would like to play some of my ps1 games on the go

  • Now I know why Sony doesn’t make a profit from a new system for at least a year. It’s hard to make money on a system when there is little to no support. Companies are not gonna embrace your system if you don’t. Today I plan to trade my Vita in for store credit. That way I can buy something for another system that has new products…!!!

  • I’d be more excited for Rainbow Moon if the art style wasn’t so hard on the eyes, really ugly looking game.

Mickey Mania is neat, soundtrack isn’t nearly as good as the SNES/Genesis versions unfortunately. Although shouldn’t that technically be an import? The PS1 version wasn’t released over here.

Nice to see another PS2 game, although really. It needs to be pointed out… again, Japan is getting Treasure Box: Guardian Heroes, Dark Cloud, Contra, Dragon Force and more. We get some budget bin motorbike game. It seriously freaking sucks.
