Hope we get the Party Invite system that will be in the new PlayStation Vita will be nice to use these features across the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita while playing with friends on PlayStation Network.

Will make things user friendly to invite or to join in a Game with our PSN friends.

I get excited as anyone can tell when it comes to Firmware updates haha.

Thanks Eric Lempel for Reading my Comments :D

Have a good one and keep the firmware updates coming ;)

There is so much room for improvement. I still love playstation and all for it’s games, but man look at playstation share for once.

    Anyone notice a trend?

  • nice, can’t wait!!

  • Does this fix the stability for Infamous 2 and other games that have been crashing since the last System Update? As well as, speed up button responses in the XMB?

  • The vita interface better be coming to the ps3. xmb sucks so hard

  • Party/cross-game chat function: just like Xbx

  • @Skater_Ricky
The real kicker is that fan-made firmware can/does support all of those things you’re asking for, and then some. :D

  • Will this update fix the freezing issues with DC Universe Online? The freezing’s been horrible ever since they released Update 3 and SOE’s hotfixes have been of limited effectiveness

  • Ohh, another useless PSN update.
    May I add somthing?
Sony, please give us featues that can compete with the 360.

  • Nice!!!Downloading after my movies done!!

  • Good stuff. More security to keep those no-life hacker kids away.
Now if only there was a way to update the intelligence of the users so they wouldn’t whine every time there’s an update to protect them…

  • @ megamixer – yeah, I notice a trend – SONY keeps beefing up their security – and you see a problem with this, why?

Also, Sept 2011 hasn’t happened yet – are you psychic or just sloppy with your references…

  • @Skater_Ricky

Great job man, but you know the only answer you might get is : “submit it to share” LOL. Blog.share, the lamest joke I’ve ever seen lol

  • need stop with cross game chat boreing hell

  • For all you idiots still whining about Cross Game Chat, here’s some breaking news: it’s not happening. Ever.

Cross Game Chat would utilize system resources that the PS3’s architecture just can’t spare, especially considering its small amount of system RAM and video RAM.

Besides, wouldn’t you rather SONY utilize every last bit of resource power the PS3 has to continue making the best looking games on the market? I’d much sooner have games that look as good as the Uncharted series, rather than Cross Game Chat; and if you disagree, then why don’t you just go play on 360? Have fun with their big library of exclusives. Oh, wait: they don’t have one.

  • Not to mention December 2011…

  • Ya i gotta say that only getting system updates that adds mysterious stability and what not is getting old. we haven’t had an update that has actually added something new to the system. While i am not dying without having cross chat i think it would be nice to have along with several other features such as…

    backwards compatibility
    Redesigned or completely redone xmb
Mire trophy support for games that don’t have them.
ability to read external drives that aren’t limited to fat/fat32 format
    custom avatars
capture gameplay footage and save as movie file to either the hd or external
    Better internet browser
    more audio/video file support

    just to name a few

  • Whine Whine Whine just take the update and let Sony do what they got to do.

  • @73 brown3y3killa87 +1

  • And this is what happens when hackers release a how-to enter QA Flag.

  • I just hope this one doesn’t kill my bluray drive like the last update did.

  • @78 HEHE

I know right! I know the features I always ask for are really important and would make PSN over all more enjoyable.

I for one RECOMMEND a MAJOR REVAMP on the IN-GAME XMB. I rather see a Menu System or just the Features that can be used while playing games.

It takes literally around 30-60 seconds before I can see the entire XMB load up to be used. (The More I have on my 500GB 5400 Hard Disc Drive the slower it seems to get.)

Can’t Find anywhere on the Support page that a 5400RPM or 7200RPM would run faster on the PS3.
I hear some say it doesn’t make a big difference. I like to see Results of these tests for one.

I also like to know how much more Improvements does it make with a Solid State Drive then a Hard Disc Drive.

  • meh, I’d still like CROSS GAME CHAT or an official word from SONY on the matter, thank you very much.

  • TemPz_itsMrRdBqa

y does it say the sites under matinence when i wanna make a new account

  • happy for update ps3 you are the best console out there of one console call xbox kiss my __________

  • hey Eric. thanks for the update. Can you do us a big favor and add a ding sound for when a message is received or when a friend sign on. thanks again.
    clouds out.

  • Just roll out 4.0 already. Give us a reason to be excited for an update for a change.

  • You know 3.0 came out in Sept of 09. We are nearing 2 years now without a full 1 point upgrade. With no news on cross game chat for the PS3 I really hope you guys have something planned. With the way things have been going for you guys, you should really take a look at your own creation and see just how many “ideas” you can make happen. The top 5 have been there since the start and you guys show no interest in making your customer happy. Seems ironic to me. Well here is to hope I guess.

  • @ 86 darkclounds should add sound friends come on online message like xbox make sound friends come on line

  • SlaughteredNinja

It’d be cool if the PS3 had party chat, but I’m not going to constantly whine about it every time there’s a system update. I like this update that’ll improve the PS3’s stability. If you want cross game chat, go play crap box.

  • Give us more features! Not stability updates…

  • @TUSTIN1
“Also, Sept 2011 hasn’t happened yet – are you psychic or just sloppy with your references…”
Just pointing out that the dates and postings are all essentially interchangable. Same crap, different date be it past, present, or future… :(

  • Considering I’ve been having issues connecting to Netflix and MLB.TV on both of my PS3s, this update is welcome.

  • I am all for stability and security updates, they are essential however i feel that after the long long wait, we are do for some much needed new features and updates to other aspects of the system/games than just the stability and security

  • How about the most requested features for PS3 for over four years? You know, cross chat, cross party chat, universal game invites, improved UI, PSN name change, voice messaging, PS button press to access notification, universal own music playback etc, you know features that have already been announced for PS Vita.

  • @94 lol never going heppend cross game chat stop whinng crybaby over it

  • I want a real update Sony…something new !!!

  • all i see is nothing but complainers still. sony should not realease any updates, nothing to the store, no patches to games. and see if that calms down everybody. your not all gonna get your way. get over it or just get a xbox
