PlayStation Network is scheduled to undergo maintenance today, from about 8am until approximately 5pm Pacific time. During this time, registration and Account Management will be inaccessible, including the password reset process. While some users may experience difficulty signing in to PSN, the majority of consumers will be able to play online as well as sign in to external sites that require PSN authentication (like this one).
For those asking about the PlayStation Store, we’re still targeting restoration of all services by the end of this month. Contrary to reports, the Store will not be publishing today.
Stay tuned to the PlayStation Twitter feed for updates and a notice when maintenance has concluded.

@319 I’ve actually done the opposite. I switched from Live to PSN because of the free service. My job wasn’t paying me enough anymore so I couldn’t pay Microsoft $50 a year anymore plus I’m a college student so I couldn’t play online much anyway during the school year. But Live does have alot more kids on there than PSN. Especially when they would have headsets on too. God that used to piss me off because they would never shut the hell up.
i bought an Xbox yesterday for the lack of care Sony has for its customers. bash me if you would like to but we don’t deserve to be treated like this.
Pro tip for Sony: Put up a scheduled maintenance calendar with what you’re working on as well. Give your Playstation Bros transparency. They love transparency. The calendar is the main point though. Then people will be able to tell when things are supposedly gonna happen, and it will hurt less then what you’re doing right now, which is breaking my heart.

this is a slap in the face for all the idiots screaming about how sony promised it would be up by now, as i have said all along, in the press confrence last month they said it would be up at the end of this month, they have never at any point said anything to the contrary, despite people believeing the rumours spread by gaming sites, they dont seem to realise that all the new and factual information we have ever got from sony came via this site. and like they have said all along, end of the month!

sounds like you really do not have much in the way of care toward the consumers as a whole, this problem was entirely your people’s fault, and my identity was stolen, but to you this is just a joke because you have done absolutely nothing to reassure me as a consumer that you sony can truly be trusted, the only reason i am still here is because i bought my son a ps3 for his birthday, and he uses my account to buy games and movies and the like.
all the x360 fanboys are just rediculous….I remember when xlive went down and i couldn’t play anything online for weeks and it was just after i had gotten 3 new games for xmas and in the end I got nothing from microsoft it was awesome especially since I paid for live. On top of that my x360 died after about 14 months and after microsoft fixed it 3 times (the limit) it made it 19 months. Sony keep working to make things better than ever. And thanks for the gifts your giving out seeing as how the service is free your giving away what will equal a lot of money.
I hope some of you people do switch to 360 my buddy was trying hard to get me to buy a new one telling me the RROD doesn’t exist anymore blah blah blah. His red ringed less than a month ago and he got his in the november area and it was halarious. Frankly enjoy 360 and all the ports you get to play since you only have a fraction of worth while exclusives that the other systems have.

You are absolutely right. Hopefully the end result of all this will see a fix for some of these problems including the inability to get at our content during a store outage.
I’d be delighted to see Sony take an interest in the problems their customers have had to deal with as a result of this outage, and that specific fix would go a long way to earn back my trust and future business for whatever that is worth.

For those complaining and just not getting the point. Read the freaking announcement and chill. I know every company has had at least one or two drawbacks in their past but at least Sony is doing the best they can with what they have. People don’t seem to realize that they have to go through protocols in order to get things done and that takes time. So, unless you want to rush over to their place of business and help out, be patient.

the Infamous 2 beta is going on right now, and I have a code entered to allow me access to this beta.
All I need is the download list in “Account Management” to work, or allow us to download via computer and then transfer to our PS3’s via USB.
Infamous 2 is coming out right quick and so I fear the beta will end very soon. Many people have never even got to try it, and Sucker Punch has definitely not gone though the testing they were hoping to done prior to launch.
Can you tell me when the download list can be used?
I thought I would out this out there, because I was apparently right and the PSN NETWORK is now here near secure yet in it’s entirety and it seems Sony has heck of a lot more “soul searchng” to do…

(CNN) — Sony on Tuesday reported another security breach, saying 8,500 user accounts had been compromised.
The company said that Sony Music Entertainment Greece learned about the data breach late Sunday. It affected artist websites where fans can sign up for newsletters.
The sites were taken down immediately, the company said.
The compromised records contained email addresses, phone numbers, user names and passwords.
However, no credit card data was stolen.
The sites, which were hosted by a third party, will be relaunched after a security review, the company said.

I was also “misled” for the record. I had heard it (PS Store) is updated Tuesdays. And figuring it has been a week and a half since PSN came back up I assumed today would be the day. (and I read on a website).
