Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!
What about the playstation store
As far as everyone posting about the PS Store/Redeeming Codes/Online Passes (MK, etc.)? ALL of that is related to the PS Store guys, so until that’s up, there’s no redeeming anything (shame, ’cause I wanted that old-school ERMAC costume) or using any online passes or purchasing anything in PS Home.
Last I recall from when the blog posts about the outage started, Mr. Seybold stated something about the store being up by at the very latest, the 31st of May. So that’s 11 days…but then again, things have been so crazy, a week ago I thought I’d never see PSN up again but then BANG there it is.
I say we all send our prayers to Kratos and have him go whoop some server booty.
Let’s just all be glad that PlayStation Network is back up and running. All the people that said that X-Box is looking better and better, or something about getting an X-Box… wow, wow you guys are really stupid. Instead of threatening SONY with that grow a pair of balls and do it. Don’t be all talk and no game. SONY thank you for your time and appreciation for your customers. While I commend you on trying to make things right, I think I share the same thoughts as most other LOYAL account holders/gamers, when I say that maybe you could have given us a list of games to vote on instead of offering games that most of us have already owned or have no desire to own. I understand what Sony’s intentions are, but it still would have been nice to have had a choice, since we never really did with all of our account info having been stolen. I am still very excited about having all the network features back up and running properly. Thanks for hearing me out.
Wow, I really hope the store is up soon. I don’t really care about online gaming, or even the free stuff. I just have two $20 network cards that I would like to use (Honest Hearts, Call of the Dead, etc.) I just find it really frustrating that this is the most recent blog on the store section and it was started a few days ago. I follow the blogs quite closely and know that I am not the only one aggrivated by the lack of the store. Furthermore I also now I am not the only one that has asked for an acqurate date. Just kind of seems to be a starting trend with Sony not wanting to communicate with their avid and loyal fans….. Just saying.

What free stuff are we getting exactly? i had to change my bank account and my email because they were jacked, i was getting like 30 emails a day of pure junk…and porn. This whole ordeal has been really stressful on me personally so i want to know what kind of compensation im in for. If someone can just post a link to the press release of what were getting that would be super helpful. On another note i had funds in my wallet for the store when it went down, am i still going have it or did i just cheated again? thanks

Um, I’m not sure why you guys stopped updating us. I mean PSN still has portions of it that are down. Do you think maybe we’d like to know when we can expect them to be up. I know I do. I’d like to re-download my MW2 map packs, and such. You don’t have to be exact I just want to know the general time frame. In a week, 2 weeks, a month? please let us know.

I think avboy is right about that i think we sure get to pick from any games on the store n not just 5 games to pick from n only get 2 of them none of them we went cuz we ready have them i think the list needs to be made aging with some cool azz games that we all whould like to have its cool and all what y’all r doing but we r the one who got r stuff taking from us thank you Sony for the time we just cant wait to play and down load all r stuff we have and want thanks aging n have a great day…..

Im still having trouble with internet connection and my computer works fine I tried multiple times to login topday and its signs me out yall still have glitches if u ask me this is crazy, and when I do get online at some point the connection is cut messing up my dnf yall can do better this or im getting a XBOX 360
When we ordered the PS3 system, it was delivered the day the service went down. We are ONLY interested in activating our MLB account from the STORE which is STILL down. Lets talk about reimbursements for lost time not being able to view Major League Baseball! WHEN WILL THE STORE BE UP AND RUNNING and where will you post that relevant information?
Sony, i find it hard to understand how you can’t figure out some very simple tactics, like other companies/services/sites have.
Example, why don’t you integrate an email or SMS alerting system everytime someone logs to my account and being able to log off all activity directly from my PS3 system, (even the lame facebook has this….LOL!.
And you definitely have to use HTTPS and using a strong encryption method, ENCRYPT all of my data, not only credit card, but every single information.
I can stand a higher loading time if i knew that would be for my data/information security.
Such simple steps, that someone would have thought proffesional tech engineers of sony would have already implement on their system….!

All my love for sony is gone. its official. this is just awfull. Then we get old top rated titles that any sony consumer already has. It is just not good enough.
See this is what really pisses me off. Let’s see here: someone hacked your network more than one month ago and you have not been able to solve the problem. What makes me so mad is that you have green colors all over the country and in fact it is not true. My system goes on and offline every day, store is not online yet and there is no specific timeframe of when will you have everything fully restored. Last but not least you offer 1 year old titles for free as compensation to your clients which cannot be downloaded yet since pss is still down. Yeah thanks Sony, thank you very much. You’re all about consumer service.

To be honest. I think Sony is one of the top companies for any electronic. Creators of the PS1,2 and now the 3. Created AMAZING surround sound system that I can plug an ipod into. Only problem I have with sony… is that i cannt get enough…and the fact of that the “Welcome Back” sounds soo good but then the store is down I hope its up soon. Great consistency of mind blowing work.

I am in northern california and still cant log into PSN on my system. when I do the PS3 just times out. I can reach the net on my PS3 and downloaded the update but cant actually log into PSN.
guess I will call Sony in the morning.
funny thing is, I never knew the network was down at all, until a friend told me the night before it was restored(had taken a short break from video games), but I’m happy to hear that I can get back to stabbing random strangers online in assassin’s creed. Wished the store was up last tuesday, so I could get that Honest Hearts DLC, but I’ll live, so we get more games and stuff for it? works for me. I hear there’s a rumor the store will be back up and running on the 24th on another website. Is that just talk, or is Sony keeping quiet until they actually have the store accessible? Guess we’ll find out tuesday.

@Vikings9104 a lot of sites posted that it would be up the 24th. But some sites updated the article because they had word from Sony US reps saying “We’ve not announced a specific date other than to say we expect to have the service fully restored by end of the month. Anything other than that is purely speculative.”
@batistarulz free service? In 2010 I spent about 6000 bucks in the pss between games movies and stuff. No to mention this is my 2nd console. Free service my butt. And now you tell me to go **** off? God knows you are an idiot!

@shaval, If you supposedly spent 6000 on the store then why worry about free games? You must have everything in the store if you spent that much.
