Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!
The PS Store will be up when it gets up…calm your jets! be happy you even got online now period…this is not a time to complain. it’s a time to rejoice. Hallelujah!

You sent me an email to an account that was MADE ORIGINALLY ON MY CURRENT PS3 BUT LET ME DO THE PASSWORD LOGIN CHANGE ON accounts THAT WERE MADE ON A PS3 i HAD 4 YEARS AGO. GET IT RIGHT SONY!

Wow, 35 pages. lol For the people asking about the store. They said once all the regions around the world are up they would be going to phase two. I am sure they are going to get that up quickly because they can’t make money without it. Let’s just hope it is like Tuesday or Wednesday. I just pray that the Japanese gov’t lets them get Japan back up this week.
Online gaming had to be first, would be pointless to open the Playstation store, buy content, and then be unable to play anything.

@Furious Sony should have encrypted our personal info, yes. But our credit cards were encrypted, our passwords were hashed, and they’re giving us all $1,000,000 insurance. While they shouldn’t have had to come to that, the lion’s share of the blame should still go to the hackers. As Kazuo said, any company is in danger of intrusion. As for informing us they did what they thought was best. I’m still getting an Xbox and the Wii for I was never a Sony loyalist. But sometimes you need to forgive and move on.

so when’s the Playstation Store gonna be up? it sux because right after the psn outage my ps3 had a hard disk error, so i had to format the hard disk, so, as some of u may know, it erased everything, all the games i had downloaded, memory card saves, music, ect,. so that’s y i want the store back up already, so i can re-download everything. including a couple new games i bought. & what also sux is that some of the trophy’s i got while the psn was down were lost, stupid disk error.
