Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!

i am glad that the PSN is Back But I Still Wish The Store Was Back As I Am Still Confused As To When Are Free 30 Days Of Playstation Plus Starts As If They Started Today Then It Will Be A Waste As Without the Playstation Store A Free 30 Days Of Playstation Pluss Is Meaningless
I need a compensation 4 all the days without playing , i have spend much of my money on games , … sony has made lots and lots of money in order to have a back up system for situations like this one , it is not my responsability the security of the servers , i dont get pay for that , im the one paying for the service , …..so why are we paying for the mistakes ? ……. first step on my complain !!!!

there u go u game nerds all of u that were having with draws from the game because u have nothing else in ur life and i actually liked it when it didnt work it made the people that live around me get out and do something with their life it was nice to see not many people were inside…. you never know maybe it will get hacked again cause ik someone will try it and maybe more than one will do it.

what state/country are you in, did you update and restart your ps3 if you live in like popular parts of U.S.? Like colorado or something.
Sony.. I just wanna say Thank You… I’ve been watching this blog from day 1, even though I couldn’t comment I watched. There was alot of complaining and (Trolling) on this blog for the past few weeks. Those people that switched to go Pay to play. HAHA.. Keep up the good hard word Sony. I always had faith in ya, And now my wife don’t have to here me talk about it anymore, so she’s happy too.. ;) Can’t wait to open the P.S. store and buy some good stuff with my 50$ card I got 25 days ago..

Others PSN User and myself are glad to be back online. Those who switched from
PS3 to XBox basically swithced from free to PAY TO PLAY(PTP).
I think we PSN users should get Escalation MAP Pack for COD Balck Ops for free.
And Myself with other PSN users would like Cross-Game Chatiing. It would be very conveinient
for all users.

its cool psn is back but my ps3 hasnt been able to read disks since the day after the outage. anybody else have this problem?

some of my friends went to download ver3.61 but when the try to download it says it has already been updated but they still cant sign in.
@sukajr Dude everyones already getting compensation if you weren’t reading the updates they said Free PS+ for a month for all registered users and a added month for already PS+ members also a free month of that Qriocity and a free content download idk about you but thats enough compensation for me.

FINALLY I can post. I’m not going to lie, as a long time sony/playstation supporter I was getting pretty annoyed with this whole fiasco and how it was handled. However, the biggest upset for me was half of the people that were on the message boards in the interim. I don’t know what it is about all the entitlement issues running rampant (maybe it’s the latest generation?), but I’m honest to god EMBARRASSED to be loosely associated with some of you. If any of the shallow threats of trading in your PS3’s were actually followed through with, then good, this community is better off without you anyway. To the rest of you who remained truly civil and displayed patience, good for you (seriously). This is gaming, people! Not a way of life. Enjoy what you have and be grateful that you can even enjoy these great games! I personally know several individuals who can’t even physically use a controller, let alone be able to afford today’s gaming prices.
Its a good felling to wake up and have psn back up and running. Thanks a lot Sony :D

Thank so much Sony for all of your excellent work!! I know this was a frustrating time for everyone! Sony and their fans. I just want to say thank you for dealing with this serious situation and for taking the necessary measures to complete the restoration of the entire network promptly. I think we all should be thankful that Sony took these measures seriously and promptly fixed their services. I wish you luck on working with the FBI trying to find these CLOWNS that ruined your severs. I am a very loyal Sony fan (since the first playstation came out) and i am happy to be able to use all of your great online features again! Again I can’t thank you enough for your hard work that you put in to complete the necessary tasks.
