Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!

Thank you Sony, We have all been looking forward to this. I think its worrying about our information getting in to god knows hands. I just dont know how they do what they do today (Hackers) like you have the best people in field to work with you to find out what went wrong but are no closer to finding who did this. For everyone thats threated to go to xbox BYE, Dont threaten just go. I also have an xbox360 and a Wii at home tho they do not even come close to the greatness of the Playstation 3 and sony products. I didnt even play on them while psn was down. Please remember Sony is much a victim as we are before bashing them. I think they could of handled it better 100% better but in all good job Sony we all HAPPY to play again. PS brand will always rock. Add me danny3755 into first person shooters stuff like that.

My original PS3 crashed back in February, and half my games were on the hard drive, not to mention all my saves (most of which I luckily had copied off to an SD card).
Nice as it is to have the network back up, until I can re-acquire all my DLC, this spiffy new PS3 is little more than a glorified DVD player …
@NWShark Yeah… I Have Been Waiting For AWhile For My “Yahoo” Mail To Give Me The C.Code To Activate My PSP OnLine Game-Playing. I Have A “Secondary” Account That I Use For Comments Here That Is With “Google” Mail And I Got THAT One First… I Am Guessing That SONY Is Going Through The Mail-Lists In Alphabetical Order: Hence, “Google” BEFORE “Yahoo”.

Others PSN User and myself are glad to be back online. Those who switched from
PS3 to XBox basically swithced from free to PAY TO PLAY(PTP).
I think we PSN users should get Escalation MAP Pack for COD Balck Ops for free.
And Myself with other PSN users would like Cross-Game Chatiing. It would be very conveinient
for all users.

First off i would like to say thank you sony for everything u have done for us on getting the network back up and running, i am a sony gamer and i will remain a sony gamer, but i must say i did go and buy and xbox 360 but i still kept my ps3 and i gotta say no comparison, sony still remains #1 on my list and im selling my xbox LOL ^^ and i just have 1 question when will the demon’s souls server be back up and running?

It’s good to have PSN back. I bought a new slim on the day of the attack in order to replace my old model (Pretty sure the graphics card was going out). I was unable to continue Gran Turismo 5 & MK due to the fact that I had to be logged in to the network in order to deactivate my old system, activate my new one, as well as unlock the game saves for the two previously mentioned games. I was afraid of continuing these games on my old system as I was afraid it was going to give out on me before I transferred everything over. If protecting game saves to prevent duplication of trophies is the main reason for doing it, how about offering an option to opt out of trophies all together. To be quite honest, I just enjoy the gaming experience in general. I can’t say that I don’t blame you at all for the events that have recently taken place, but nowhere near as much as a group of hackers that need a good 20 hours in a dim room with several sharply dressed individuals equipped with plungers and thumb tacks. I would appreciate a response to this if at all possible. BTW Mr. Butler, could you spare one of those real life GT5 test cars?

finally i can comment i wont have my ps3 till friday i suck.. if i got a psn card for my birthday on april 24 would it still be active so it will still work i thought it wouldnt because of the recent hack so you would have to change the psn pins so if it can still work reply please

Dear PSN,
I want to say thank you very much for your actions following the attack on your systems. I think you guys have done a great job trying to secure users information and strengthening your network for even more protection against these malicious attacks. I appreciate the periodical communication with updates letting your customers know what was going on. It’s really good to have this (in my mind) ‘second to none’ gaming network back up and running so that its millions of users can continue to have fun with their families and friends around the world.

I am glad it’s back up, but for some of us,this restart means nothing. I bought as ps3 during the outage and almost all games nowadays comes with activation code. You don’t use it, you cant go online. Now DCUO is online, everyone can play and yet, I still can’t play online because the redeem code feature is inactive, I understand you want to do more testing on the psn store, but could you please get the redeem code feature working quickly because I still can’t technically play online because of all these activation code.
But thanks for getting the psn back up, its a great start.
Well that’s one less thing for people to whine about. Of course the impatient will just keep complaining about the store not being fixed. I’m glad it’s back up and that you guys didn’t just rush it out for the masses who wanted it and took your time fixing all the problems. Way to go Sony keep up the great work

It only took seconds to upload my trophies. I was in utter shock. And everything seems to be running awesome! And everyone who switched to xbox suck out loud
I say keep an xbox put away just in case.
