Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!

Sony i just want to say thanks for all that you do yes it was a lil frustrating not being able to play online but like others said at least we dont pay for our gaming and so what a computer is cheaper not after you buy all the necessities to make it smokin. i do own multiple systems but truthfully i stayed on ps3 and watched netflix with my fiance. i am sure she enjoyed it and half way thanked the adolescent scum hackers. i am all about sticking it to the man but not to the people who are pretty damn fair to us. shut the goverment down if you want to do something worth while. but any who thanks again for all that you do sony screw them others loyalty is the key.
Sony will always be the best no matter what. They have the best games (what counts the most), and a very good free service. Thank you for the long hours of work that you put into this!

I would like to thank Sony for their very had work on restoring the PSN, I wasn’t able to log in and post comments on the blog, but to see all these sniveling little babies that sold there PS3’s for an xbox I laugh at them. Hope you like paying for something that is completely free on Playstation. You impatient fools. 3 weeks and 3 days was nothing to me, my personal info’s security is the more important to me then playing online. When Sony took the PSN offline is was the smartest thing they could have done at the time to save us. Now that they’ve added credit monitoring for free says to me that Sony cares about their consumers even after the fact of the intrusion. Rebuilding a network infrastructure is NO EASY feat, and when you have another intrusion lingering in the shadows and on top off that Millions of gamers just breathing down the neck of Sony’s IT support. Sony still prevailed! I would have never sold my ps3 and to the millions that didn’t well GAME ON! THANK YOU SONY! For your hard work, I know hearing stuff like this from your consumers sure makes it feel a whole lot better and worthwhile. Keep up the good work because I know you will.

Hey sony I have a problem this is my second account.But on my first account which is JcxXHD I keep pressing “X” after it says “An message will be sent to your email to change your password” Something like that but after that it says Server error accured and I never got the message to my email.What do I do?

I love that PSN is back but it still does not take away the fact the updates were crap. i thought they could have done way better telling us what was going on. It on now so I’m cool.

Thank you Sony, I didn’t want to buy an X Box, but I promised my friend if you were not up by the end of the month then I’d buy one. Also thank you for making up the time I lost on PS Plus, that is all I was really worried about.

A rousing ‘Thank You’ to everyone at Sony who worked tirelessly around the clock to get the network back up and running. I know there’s still work yet to be done but the hard part is over. I’m not nearly as zealous as those of the SDF but I never lost faith in Sony’s ability to overcome this obstacle. I’ve been a proud Sony product owner since the days of the PS1 and I will continue that trend by making the Playstation my home console of choice for as long as you stay in the gaming market.
Thanks Sony! I can’t wait for inFAMOUS 2, E3, and all the other games coming out this year!

My thanks to Sony and, especially, the network engineers that put this together for us. It had to be a HUGE undertaking to set up a new network for 77 million consoles and to do it with no warning is incredible. My hats off to ya!!

Good to see that the network is finally back up. I also hope that you catch whoever did this. Any ideas on when the PlayStation Store will be back up? I want Parasite Eve 2…. :)
