Updates to PSP System Software, Media Go

98 0

Hi everyone, the next PSP (PlayStation Portable) system software update (v6.35) is coming soon. This is a minor update that prepares your PSP system for the upcoming launch of “Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity” – a new, cloud-based, digital music service from Sony that will give music lovers access to millions of songs stored and synchronized through the cloud. A new icon for the service will be added to PSP’s XMB (XrossMediaBar) under the “Music” category. You can read more about Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity here, and we’ll report back when a launch date is announced.

In addition, the Media Go application for managing PSP downloadable content on your PC will be updated with enhancements to the user interface and advanced photo editing tools.

  • About time we get a music service! =)

  • Cool!! PS3???

  • When is the qriocity music service coming to ps3?

  • Why not PS3?

  • Eric Lampel is such a nice guy! Thank you kind sir! When will we see music videos for PSP and PS3?

  • Can we please get Media Go for Mac users!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • Very cool, this is pretty huge; look forward to the rollout. Thanks!

  • Will this be on the PlayStation 3 system, I notice there has not been music application for the PS3, please bring it in for the PS3 also. I think we all would love for that to happen. If not can you give us in detail why? Thanks.

  • This is great news. Glad to hear that the Sony PSP is getting this Qriocity update. More reasons to go portable with your PSP now that there’s a music service to support it on the go.

  • PS3 support? Music and Video please!!!

  • Still waiting for a Mac version of Media Go.

  • Poor Macs lol think there so cool with there pretty Mac colors haha.

Cool might pick up a psp go this weekend…

  • Seems… interesting. You guys should put video game soundtracks up on Qriocity.

  • Media Go needs Mac support. It’s important to a lot of your consumers.

  • Would be nice to allow us to clear our activation slots, especially the video activation when your Customer Service/Repair Center don’t clear it for us!

  • Is updating the software is necessary in downloading games and it is okay not to update the media go software

  • Finally, a PSN music store. I sure hope there will be plenty of videogame soundtracks for sale!

  • Looks like every one just really wants this one PS3 lol

  • Finally. Every media use of the PSP is now usable. The Videos and Games were usable since there were loads of content to buy on the store but there was no music so can’t buy any music until this music store releases…like seriously it’s like they expected us for the past 4 years to get our music illegally since there was no legal to get music from sony themselves directly to our psp like what you can do on the ipod.

  • I know that this has been stated, but please update with Max OSX support as currently, there ‘isn’t’ an app for that :(

  • PSP is dead. It’s been dead since the scene left it alone. Maybe Sony should too?

  • Does anyone knows if this Qrocity feature can be used from anywhere in the world or it is IP Blocked as the Movie session from the PSN Store?

  • wow nice , finally a kool application coming to the psp , so when is the psp 2 gonna get announced? btw God of War Ghost of Sparta is my 2010 psp GOTY no doubt ( my favorite psp game of all time ) , oh 1 more thing when are you guys adding Media GO MAC support? and please the psp 2 better have full psn functionalities and Uncharted on launch date , thanks

  • 1. the PSP is not Dead (twooh).
    2. like many people said before PS3 support for the Music service .3. Whoever said video service the PSN has a ton of movies and has a growing number of new ones.
    4. Qriocity built into Media Go
    5. Media Go for Macs (BOO MACS, but that is a different discussion)
    6. Netflix for the PSP would be AMAZING I would mind paying extra for the application but that would be great.

  • Hopefully this service can rival iTunes.

  • i hope the psp 2 launch with its own app service ( lots of apps )

  • @21 Hahaha, the scene left it alone? What about the rampant piracy and infringement they are still doing? You funny, you really funny.

  • mmm I dont understand this too much but sounds good *_*

  • this is what the PS3 need, with a real in game music app.

  • UMD-TO-MEMORY STICK GAME TRANSFER VIA MEDIA GO WOULD BE VERY NICE! HAVEN’T BOUGHT A UMD SINCE PSPgo WAS RELEASED.

  • Mac. Media Go. Mac. OS X. MAC.

    Why the hell… k.

Anyway the music thing sounds pretty awesome :D. Im sadly in Canada and have a feeling this wont be coming. But it’s still pretty cool. Streaming music to a PSP Go while connected to the internet through bluetooth on my phone… a canadian can dream lol.

But anyway, seriously. No mac for MediaGo support is stupid.

  • Quit adding stupid icons on the menus. Also make it so they can be deleted. It just clutters and fills up the menus unless you use it.

  • @27

The scene is the same as the pirates. Maybe you should learn to read, before you respond?

The scene made the psp what it is. Before the scene started adding cool features, sony never added anything. They added stuff to encourage people to update and use ofw and not cfw.

  • *The scene is NOT the same as the pirates.

    Forgot to add “NOT”.

  • There’s a Playstation Portable now? How quaint.

  • This may be cool and all, but I think I’m gonna stick with 6.20. I don’t wanna give up my Homebrew apps just yet… Until Sony can release something that I would actually use, like the Support of a higher Flash Player, and more memory for the internet browser. You know why? YOUTUBE! The PSP needs a free app from the play station store that lets you view Youtube videos, if they come out with that, I will TOTALY update and ditch the Homebrew scene (Besides, I’ve still got my Wii for all of that). ;)

HEN is coming, HEN is coming!

  • @27 I’m sure he means the scene as in those who created hb which are twice as better than what Sony ever did for the PSP.

Some of the stuff Sony added which were created by the scene devs in the first place still aren’t even as good. Take categorizing for example…

Fail more why don’t you? Lrn2knowdifference.

  • is this coming for PS3 ?

  • Interesting. Will this service be available to Canadian PSP users, as well?

  • listen sony this is something that should be on the ps3 and should be in playstation home so with that said make this HAPPEN! like yesterday!

  • Im right their with others . Bring to ps3 already . i have a psp , but just collects dust . im never in a position to be able to use it .

  • PS3 version please

  • Is there any way I can just skip this? It’s features I don’t care about and don’t have the patience for yet ANOTHER firmware update…

  • Great news, hopefully we see this on PS3 as well

  • pandora works on the pa3 internet browser just fine

  • Thanks for the update, Sony. Keep on adding extra goodies for the PSP and PS3!

  • Its out now…

  • Interesting to see an application added after all of these years and for a system that many think is dieing. I presume that Canadians will be forgotten as usual as per Sony’s comic service that isn’t available up here yet.

  • So, for some reason my PSP asked me if I wanted to download the 6.35 update when I was trying to log into my account a few minutes ago. So I downloaded and tried to install it. At 89%, almost there, it gave me the error “The update failed. Contact technical support for assistance. (LPTFFFFFFFE)” I’m currently trying to get a hold of some help, but here’s to hoping this update doesn’t brick my PSP.

  • finally stuff 4 my PSP really PS3 got netflix was just using it n hulu plus that other thing 4 sports i think n now VUDU more apps 4 PSP k now n PS3 the more the better
