Gran Turismo 5 Release Update

909 0

We can confirm that Gran Turismo 5 will not be available this November 2nd, but the game’s release will be coming this holiday season.

We sincerely apologize to GT fans for the delay, however, creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience, and we are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches.

We’ll have more information for you in the near future.

MEANWHILE WE WAIT, AND WE WAIT, AND WE WAIT…

  • Well, at least I won’t have to touch my dusty PS3 for a while longer. Back to PC/360.

  • @ Glody

    – The problem is that other developers don’t seem to have the same problems with their games that PD has with the Gran Turismo titles.

GT 5 was announced at E3 in 2006. In an interview in 2008 they stated they’ve been working on it since 2004. Since then, Bizarre Creations managed to do not one, but TWO Project Gotham Racing games and the last one of those came out THREE YEARS AGO.

If you look at GT on the PSP it was the exact same problem. It was announced in 2004, it was supposed to be a PSP launch title in 2005 and it didn’t come out until 2009 – FIVE YEARS LATER.

  • @401 Right… Having bought each previous GT release on launch day, I don’t see that happening (though GT3 was close).

  • Tell me you’ve got something planned to make up for all this. All these delays are ridiculous, and on top of that you give a new vague release. This shouldn’t be how Sony does business.

  • Closer to Christmas means higher sales for Sony. Simple as that. Why buy an xmas present with a marketing rush in November when they can pummel us with ads right before the holiday shopping rush. Parents have short term memories when it comes to video games. Hotest and newest thing is what they think the kids want. This will push a few hundred thousand units extra at launch.

  • This is ****ing ridiculous, we were less than one month away from the release date, it was confirmed on E3, stop ****ing playing with the consumers already

  • Ok I’m about to give up now… This was supposed to be a launch game in 2006. Forza made 3 releases since… Even if this comes out one day, I’m convinced that Forza 4 or 5 will pass it in a year or two. Now what to do with all those other ps3 games I ended up buying waiting for GT5…

  • wow…I…no…I feel like canceling and buying used, just to spite you Sony. If I can wait 3 years (PS3 owner since dic 2007), I surely can wait 1 extra month, I guess…but by the same reasoning I could wait 1 or 2 months after its release and buy it used for $15 less just because you hurt my loyal feelings.

  • I didn’t want this to be true, but of course it is. I just don’t know how much longer I can care about this game, I bought the glorified demo that is Prologue in April 2008 assuming the game would be out at the end of last year at the latest and now it might not even come out this year anymore. “This holiday season”, you might want to tell us which holiday that is because I won’t believe anything until I have a copy in my hands, if I even bother. The NASCAR game that was just announced is probably going to be out before this. Hope you try to give us something for all the painful waiting but I expect absolutely nothing.

  • After all these delays, it BETTER exceed Forza 3 in every way imaginable.

  • Absolutely ridiculous…

  • that is unfortunate…

  • Why am I not surprised?

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY WOULD YOU DELEAY IT!

I Just want the game patch it all you want when it comes out! I mean this and little big planet 2 and socom 4 what the F!

  • if i didn’t preorder my copy i think after i hear this news i won’t buy it any more….
don’t tell us the release date if you’re not ready.
    this is ridiculous

  • Canceled pre-order. You guys just lost a sale.

  • thanks for nothing !!!!

if this game is delayed till next year , im seeling my ps3 , buy a 360 and play forza.

  • Ha HA! Oh man this is so funny. I’m glad I’m not a huge GT fan or else I just might be royally p155ed! Like Joostin sain, it’s not really a big deal but it’s funny no less.

  • you see guys you just rise a ants nets

  • Wow all you nay sayers are still going to buy it. Relax. These things happen.

  • Let this be a lesson to anyone who actually booked time off work to play a video game.

  • Who ever in Polyphony Digital cause the delay (Graphic department, A.I. scripting department, level design, etc) they should be fire immediately!! **ANGRY FACE!**

  • I am still going to buy the game but I am getting frustrated with all the delays! I even requested the day off of work and it looks like that is shot to he11.

  • Oh my god man!

  • @421 Doesn’t seem to happen to Turn 10 that often.

  • This is a joke

  • Hey Taku Imasaki don’t keep us in the dark. You afraid of us fan and loyal to Sony and Polyphony? Give us some feedback on what the deal is with the delay. Ya yellow or something pilgrim..LOL..

  • Groundhog day. No more, no less. Meanwhile, on my Xbox, I have been Forza 3 for at least … 50% of something is something; 100% of nothing is still nothing. Guess which one GT5 is …

  • Really really irritated.

Bought a PS3 in August as a blu-ray player and for this game that died 5 weeks after I had it.

I sent it off for warranty repair a month ago and they’re now telling me it won’t be back for several more weeks.

Sony doesn’t really care about their customers I’m convinced.
They think the world revolves around them.
Their world’ll be crashing down on them due to their self-centric tendencies.
    Really really irritated!
Collector edition cancellation later today. I like the idea of buying used to keep the $ from getting into these money grubbing creeps’ hands.

  • They’re delaying it to work on a 360 port, they have to cut most of the content so it’ll fit on a DVD

  • new title for the game.

    Gran Turismo: Forever

  • Well, looks like since I just got an Xbox as a gift, that it’s time to take back my pre-order and purchase Forza instead.

Either one of two things is happening here. Either the parties involved are trying to ramp up more interest in this game (in which case they are now driving AWAY sales), or Kazunori Yamauchi is such a bad designer that he shouldn’t be creating games. It’s a little beyond the “want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience”. If that is the reason that it is delayed…AGAIN…then I’d say they are bordering on incompetence.

  • Stop saying its because of COD lol… go look at the sales of GT1, 2, 3, 4 and tell me that GT5 has anything to be worried about lol…

  • THEY SHOULD GET ALL THE PEOPLE WHO PREORDERED GT5 AND SENDED THEN A DEMO DISC OR DOWNLOND CODE FOR A DEMO ON NOV 2. JUST TO MAKE UP THE THE THE DELAYS.

  • WOW. 9 pages of comments! I assumed GT5 already went gold. Apparently not.

  • i guess they dont want to sell this game…

  • maybe he needs a little more time to add zombies to GT5

  • QUICK CALL KEVIN BUTLER!!!

  • Just read this quote:

Mr. Imasaki said the company “is shooting for it to be out by the holidays. You won’t see too much more delay.”

Can you say 2011? LBP2 and GT5 were the only games I wanted to play this fall. Now Sony has taken both games away from me.. Sony- The Grinch that stole Christmas. :/

  • This is a slap in the face. The game was supposed to come out in less than 3 weeks from now for christ sake. It’s insulting to think that the people with Polyphony Digital didn’t know that the game wouldn’t make it’s Nov. 2 release until now.

  • I’m calling it right now. Guarantee this game will get pushed to some ambiguous “Spring 2011” release. Just watch! XD

  • So… we go from a firm release date of Nov 2, which took them forever to lock down. And the cheers went on when we finally got the exact date.

now it’s sometime this holiday season, which means we’ll be lucky to get it this year, it will likely get pushed again to April 2011, and then well gears 3 is out then so we’ll push it again to not compete.

Why not just come out and say you screwed up, there are major bugs that you don’t know when they will be fixed or whatever. Stop putting this we want to make it perfect BS that you’ve said each and every delay for the last 2 years.

and just tell us whats going on. I’d rather know your fixing bugs or somethings broke than the PR line all the time.

  • Delaystation 3 continues to deliver. Four holiday exclusives games delayed, Socom, LBP2, DC universe, and GT5. How pathetic.

  • Very disappointing… that was our last hope for 20 days left!!!

    :(

  • If the release date goes beyond X-mas…I’m gonna go back and cancel my pre-order and spend that money on NFS! You guys made a big deal back when you had a due date in March of this year and then pushed it back to Nov 2….and yet another delay. This stopped being a joke years ago.

  • There is no reason or excuse to wait until 3 weeks before launch to announce a delay…sometimes your shareholder are your customers.

  • I think Polyphony Digital has a broken record playing in the background and letting us know that this record is called “Delay”…LMAO!!

  • jesus jesus again?… What now! March, April maybe May 2011!?! Never say never.
